HTC Touch Pro help - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I have it ...so im happy, now i need to tweek it so it works well.
Conversations..anyway to turn it off, i would rather just have recieved messages in the inbox and sent messages in the sent folder, i hope its possible ?
Im running csdevctrl so will see how that works, only reason im using it is i ride my motorcycle and dont want the phone answering itself in my pocket.
Think thats it for now ?
Oh and best player for movies ?
Oh and message alert tone, why cant i use a custom one ? i mean..i can use an mp3 file for my ringtone but only use the standard poo'y sounds for the message alert.

Sorted the message alert tones, just copied which i would like to use to My Documents and it shows up in the sounds tab now, so its set as the message alert .
need help on the others though.

Losing SMS & Email Alert Tones

Hi All, I've noticed that a few times my TC has stopped playing alerts for SMS & Emails. I've gone into the "alerts & notifications" page, and when I select the SMS or Email drop down and hit the play button, it still doesn't work. (Standard phone call ringer still works though)
As soon as I change the choice of alert, and back again, it starts working again.
Any idea what's causing it to stop, or maybe hang? I've tried using different tones, but it's still the same; works for a while and then doesn't.
try after changing u,r sound profile.
FWIW, I had the same problem with my Touch/Elf when using an MP3 for alerts. Sounds like a little software bug to me.
jefmcg, I've tried changing the MP3s to WAV but it still happens.
Alipi, you seem to be right, it happens after I've change to silent and back again. It doesn't seem to put the email and SMS tone back to normal volume.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I'm using the O2 profiles app to change profiles, as the HTC home one doesn't allow you to put any additional ones on. I like to have a "sleep" profile, which doesn't beep for SMS or email, but does ring the phone.
Open to any suggestions or workarounds!

Hi,
I have the same problem. But until today I though I´m alone . And I haven´t investigate that it arises after I switched form silent to "normal". Have to look into this as well...
Sorry, but I haven´t got any workaround, maybe someone else...
Pobably dont belong in this thread but i have the exact same issue/problem with my Tmo Wing, everytime i change the sms tone (incoming text) it works fine for the first 5 or so text but after that just goes silent when receiving new ones...a fix or advice would really be appreciated...i have no clue
UPDATE!
Ok, so I'm an idiot!
I thought I had deleted the mp3 versions of my ringtones and replaced them with wav files, but I hadn't. I've since done it, and whilst they do sound slightly different (crap converter?), it SEEMS to have fixed the problem....
...at least I've tried to move in and out of silent a few times, and the tones still sound!
So, guys, perhaps try converting them to WAV and go from there. FYI, my tones sit in the windows folder.

No - for some strange reason, ring tones need to be in \WINDOWS\RINGS, but SMS and other notification tones need to be in \WINDOWS.
Yet Another Update!
OK, so converting to WAV, only worked for a while, it did eventually stop beeping for texts and emails.
HOWEVER... philip gave me a great recommendation of PocketZenPhone, which is much more powerful at managing profiles, and especially on the text and email alerts, ACTUALLY WORKS!

[REQ] End SMS notification after read

i have had this problem since i got my touch pro....i have a .mp3 as my notification for SMS and its about a min long. after i read a message, respond, and close it the .mp3 keeps playing..i would prefer the sound to stop after i open the message.....is there some tweak or perhaps program that can resolve this?? Any responses are welcome and thanks in advance
im guessing no one else is having this same problem....come on devs im sure there is some way to resolve this...im sure there are a few people with SMS notifications that are longer than a min....on my old MOTO a1200 i culd simply push the volume togggler either up or down and be able to silence the ringer immediately..and this phone is far more advanced
I am guessing most people just have shorter notification sounds. I never made mine longer because i never thought there was a way for any device to cut off the sound.
MP3 Trimmer will be able to help you

[Q] Disable all sound when on silent?

Hey all,
When I put my phone onto silent I expected it to never make a sound except for alarms. However when any app generates an error message it still makes the system error beep.
This is highly inconvenient considering I'm using the phone in lecture theatres because my lecturer is away and the guest lecturer can barely speak English let alone write in it.
How do I make silent mode actually mean silent? (also I still want these notification and error beeps when on ringer mode)
Cheers,
Cru

hmm, to make mine silent I make sure Ringer and vibrate is set to off in Settings/ringtones and sound. Also check off anything at the bottom of the same page (play sound for), e.g. reminders, all other notifications..
then for good measure I turn the volume down all the way to 0. Maybe not exactly what you want
It worked but I was hoping to not have to do that everytime I want to use silent mode
Sent from my Spark using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

yeah, wish there was a one tap setting to set it to silent.
Kinda seems a step backwards from the old phones where you could customize sound profiles

Txt message Notification breaks sound!!

Has anyone else experienced this? when I have my phone hooked up to my car stereo aux jack to listen to music.. I get a text and then no sound, until I receive another text!! its like to txt notification is muting the music and then not un-mutting after the notification is complete. this was happening on stock un-rooted phone and on all other roms too!!! its the reason why i rooted it.. and im still stuck with this problem, I have to send texts to myself to get the sound working again.
oh and how in the heck do you keep it from announcing the person that is messaging you? it is quite annoying, i just want a simple notification.. not a name or a number being called out for every one to hear.
well I take it im the only one with this problem???!!
cant say...i play music all the time in my car and once notif is done the music comes back on. are you using stock music player, stock sms and stock notifier?
i changed to handcent to see if that would help and yes I have changed player and neither of those help.. how do you keep it from reading peoples name outloud when a text comes in without putting the phone on silent?
It's never happened to my on stock or on a rom.

To answer your question, I have the same problem too. Never tried sending myself a text to get it working. I just boot into recovery and then clear cache and reboot.
As for the phone telling you who's texting you here's your fix to that.
1. Go to Settings
2. Go into Voice input and output
3. Go into text-to-speech settings
4. Check to see if Driving mode is checked.
If it is this is what makes your phone talk to you.
5. Go into Driving mode settings
6. Now uncheck what you don't want your phone to say out loud.

[Q] Custom text message sound triggered by a word in the text.

Anyone know of a way to do this?
I get random text alerts for stocks, and want a specific sound for a few choice words that get sent to me. Mainly, SELL xxx stock.
Now, I don't mean for a specific contact, I mean like an alert type text you get from those find my phone type apps. But, I don't want an annoying sound blasting off.
Ideally I would just like to specify a specific sound that will alert even when the phone is on vibrate or silent.
There's gotta be something out there!
Thanks in advance.
