I heard from a sprint rep at teh store yesterday that it will be late october early Nov. My B-day is Nov, what a great present that would be. Now i just have to talk my wife into it.

thanks for the good news mate
Confirmed release date for Sprint is October 19th. It will be $319 with 2-year contract or $579 w/o contract.
Too bad I refuse to go to Sprint or Verizon. Guess I'm stuck waiting for the Fuze on ATT.
Since AT&T is the bomb, it will get it before sprint will. They've been requesting the touch pro more. So it should release at AT&T for $300 after rebates. and about $600 w/o contract.
I have been thinking of switching to Sprint for the Diamond or Pro. I think the Sprint TV and Sprint navigation could be a nice benefit. I did get service on Sprint for the Touch but TV and Nav did not work on it. I also tried the Instinct and TV and Nav was a nice feature to have.
Im just remembering now that TV and Nav did not work on Touch so maybe wont on Diamond or Pro.
I have ATT now.

I have ATT and as much as I wish that were true, they will not be releasing it before October 19th. So Sprint definitely has them beat.

lol....ATT is such a ripoff....i'll have my touch pro before you and i will pay less then half of your monthly bill w/unlimited txt & data on a faster network.....unless you have an iphone, there is no reason to have ATT in the NY-NJ-PA area....
International. That's why I have to have AT&T. Sprint only works in the US. I travel for business. Sprint is worthless to me.

ummm...sprint worked when i went to europe....i had to call them to let them know i was going, but that is only because i don't have an international plan....they do offer them though.
FWIW . . . today a rep at On the Go Solutions told me that HTC was going ro release a ROM upgrade that would activate 3G in the US. Either they were telling me the truth or trying to sell-through their existing stock of EU Pros.

Actually. I don't need a data plan. I don't think you'll pay less than half my monthly bill. I get 25% off monthly bills and 50% off retail phones. So $300 touch pro + data + messaging + family plan on 1000 minutes = about $85/mo. So beat that

Wow that plan is amazing. If I didn't like to switch phones so often I would switch over to sprint

And how do you know it won't hit on Sep 29th? You're just thinking you know that it won't come out on Sep 29th. I'm saying that as far as I know, it WILL. That's all I know. I haven't heard if AT&T has plans to advertise the touch pro. I don't think they will either until that day or maybe a few days later and besides, AT&T is putting all the commericals on the iPhoney.

It's normal tactics of authorized dealer. They will get a big incentive from carrier if they sell a big plan. Take a look on their fine print terms and conditions to find out how much they charge if you cancel OR switch to a smaller plan.
BTW, there is no one find out how to make at&t UMTS/HSPDA runs on TOUCH PRO yet.
@kidnamealbert: at&t doesn't charge difference price between GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSPDA. You may as well get a $15 for unlimited internet on at&t if you know how to search
$130 a month is the standard AT&T price for unlimited VOICE and DATA. It is also spelled WTF not WDF.

Just wondering if there are any good tricks or deals to minimize the monthly cost of owning and actually using one of these devices. I've been using LetsTalk for the last few years as I've not really found any cheaper way to get phones & plans, so most of my numbers are based on this. I did a quick spreadsheet for 24 month cost of ownership (ignoring taxes and fees for simplicity) and have attached that. Basically with AT&T you can go with the $40 voice plan and get the phone for $200, or the $60 plan and get it for free. Then add on $30 for data (the letstalk deal requires this for at least 6 months anyway) and another $5 for basic texting. I broke these down with comparisons to the iphone, sidekick 2008, the cricket slider my friend bought and the dirt-cheap samsung propel. I know this isn't exactly apples to apples but I'm doing this more to evaluate the cost/benefit of having a nice smartphone vs a decent voice/text platform with no data plan. Just kinda throwing this out there for feedback, I'm sure you guys know a lot more than I do about what is available and what can be done...

Mine is unlimited EVERYTHING and 100% free, and so is the second, third, forth and fifth line.
Ohh yea the data card is also.
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Ok, to make a long story short, I pay $20 a mo for unlimited data. I have had it for years from when I was with Cingular. I pay $5 for 250 texts and 39 for the lowest minutes. I own my own phone and have always bought unlocked phones and haven't had a contract in years.
So I wanted the Fuze and went to the Att store and was willing to sign a 2 year contract to get the phone for $299 but wanted to keep my plan EXACTLY like it is. Hre said no prob....until he started ringing me up. Stated my data plan was not compatible with the Fuze and I had to upgrade to the $30 a mo. I said no, he said you can't get the speacil price with the $50 rebate if I didn't. I said stuffit.
So, I am willing to pay $500 for the unlocked, no commitment phone from Att and will leave my plan as it is.
Question.....Does anyone know if the phone will be COMPLELTY unlocked or uncripled if I buy it for full price from Att? I want to take my sim out, put it in the new Fuze and keep on keepin on as I have for years.
Thanks

As for the device (full price) or (with contract renewal) its the same phone, it will be locked.
I don't know how but ATT knows what phone you're using on their network and will probably make you change it anyway. It happened to me when I got a Tilt.

$50 is the lowest I've seen anywhere. However, keep in mind that Amazon may not allow you to keep your grandfathered plan if you are renewing. I tried to upgrade through Wirefly, since they were less expensive than T-Mobile, but the website was forcing me to select a more expensive data plan and a different minute allowance. No thanks.

Had a buddy order his earlier today through Amazon as well and his says Jan 3rd. But he called amazon wireless customer service and was told their next stock comes in in 8-9 days and all current orders fit within that new inventory so the 1-2 week backorder status should remain accurate.
With this Amazon deal up now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say we're gonna see free phones with upgrade within a week. I'm holding out.
Got mine last week at costco for $99. Walked in today and saw they were offering new lines for $49. Brought in my receipt and got the difference refunded

You mean "4G," right?
I don't know what your data experience was like with the N1, with the MT4G it's been really good. I've tested it from Boston to Manhattan and everywhere in between, the connection has been pretty solid and low latency.
That said, I was upgrading from a G1, so I was totally blown away. I think coming from the N1, this will be a less exciting upgrade for you.
retentions
Went through retentions last week for MT4G.
$99 + $20 unlimited plan
with new 2yr contract extention
I was out of contract and upgrading to new phone.
For those ppl upgrading, $99 seems to be the sweet spot?
(The amazon link says $149.99 if you're already a TMO customer; $49.99 for new and $79.99 for new family.)
Looks like no one has gotten it for free just yet, hm?
Have you guys heard about the 'buy one get one free' plan for Nov 26 - Jan 18?

The pricing as other threads have probably shown, prove that sam's club has a silly pricing point for their wireless devices. They had the phone for $144.00 and right across the street at a tmobile retail store I would have had to buy it for $294.00. So, if you have the ability to pick it up at sammy's or costco!

I bought mine on ebay for 400 (380 + 20 for S&H). With Tmobile I would have had to pay around 549.99. Yeah right they were going to get that much from me. I also have my HTC G2 on ebay at the moment to help with the cost of the new phone. But this phone is definitely worth the upgrade, its so fast!

Costco (near me anyway) does not sell phones without a contract. They told me I couldn't even choose a T-Mobile Value plan - it's Classic or no sale.
Costco is in agreement with the carriers that it cannot undercut carriers with off contract price. Don't bother looking for that anywhere. Ever.
Craigslist, however, is another story altogether.

I assume this is a non-contract plan? Do they have more that are non-contract? T-Mobile, in my opinion, has royally screwed its customers. By not allowing customers to upgrade their phones the old way (getting a phone for next to nothing when the customers signs a new 2 year agreement). And their customer service, in my opinion (again) used to be amazing. It has gone to complete crap.
I left them, in contract, so I was happy to pay the 200$ early termination fee to get rid of them.
Doesn't TMobile now have non-contract plans for every new customer? I am not too familiar with them now, since I switched, but I thought this was the case?

There are other choices - might I kindly suggest that you "skim" thru this thread with extensive info & how-to's, etc. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476995&page=82 (yes, I know & understand that, like most, "we" all hate to read to try to understand how things work .. )
You did NOT indicate what your data needs or usage pattern are - but if you plan to use the Nexus 5 for lots of mobile air minutes to talk, there are unlimited plans for that. Priced accordingly & competitively, they do vary & might / might not have good coverage for your location.
There is Straight Talk, Simple Mobile, and the Walmart plan ... Lately, Target has its own exclusive "Brightspot" plans. Like here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511152&page=3
Or, do as I say & listen to what I do - leave a reserve fund (like a credit line) for excess minute charges to be deducted once you go over & yes, T-Mo will SMS alert you and you can do short codes to check your account status.
The "Search" button here on XDA - it does miracle finds, usually & often - use it. Have a nice day !

all (new) plans from tmobile are non-contract
Tmobile basically separated the phone subsidy with the phone line.
(I don't know the exact numbers, but someone can chime in)
Before, you would be paying $130{?} for 2 lines on t-mobile. now, you'll be paying $80 for 2 lines. You can CHOOSE to finance two Samsung Galaxy S4 phones @ $25/month for 24 months with $0 down, which gives you a monthly fee of $130, similar to before... but the extra $25 a month stops exactly after 24 months. you just can also choose not to take the "free" phone...
As you said, you aren't happy with what T-mobile is doing, then go back to the other 3 carriers (which do the same contract thing. though at&t finally follow t-mobile and added a off-contract $15 discount)... I'm happy with what T-mobile is doing...

As you said, you aren't happy with what T-mobile is doing, then go back to the other 3 carriers (which do the same contract thing)... I'm happy with what T-mobile is doing...

Yeah, I am on another carrier now.
Who would finance a phone? That's asinine. I mean if you have to do it, you have to do it, but that doesn't make sense to me.
For me, I was with T-Mobile for 7+ years. I felt as though I got screwed. It may be good for new customers, but not previous customers. It was a big slap in the face for long time customers.

and you are just playing into the trap that AT&T/Verizon/Sprint/{T-mobile} have been playing for the past 10x years.... let the customers get "free" phones every 2 years, but hide the cost within the phone line
now, it's separate... it's the same price as before, just that customers can choose to finance a phone, or not finance a phone(and save $25/month). if you can't see that you have better choices, then sorry, AT&T/Verizon/Sprint would love you. you are the customer that they want
if you had a grandfathered plan, t-mobile would actually give you a better deal(than new customers), to entice you to switch

You could be right, but I am happy with that way of doing business... No worries.
yeah im on verizon now and its just ridiculous .
I'm not going to read the T-Mobile$30 plan thread since I have a working solution.
But for my daughter I set her up with a Callcentric number, Google Voice and Google Voice Callback (available in the Amazon app store) and now she receives and makes all calls over IP.
I find the quality ok when I talk to her though occasionally there are voice delays when I'm using internet calling also.
