Hello,
I have small problem with coping files between my WM 6.0 device ( HTC Herald ) and my Vista PC. I am using program WM5Storage that makes from WM device USB flash disk. If I plug HTC herald to computer where is installed Win XP, everything works my copying speed in both directions are app. 700KB/s. But if I am on computer where is Win Vista installed, only one direction works correctly ( from Herald -> PC ). The speed from PC > to Herald is app.
30KB/s. If I plug in my HTC Herald to any computer that run on Vista i have
an problem. I have chek it with 3 vista computers and 2 XP computers. XP
computers works great.
I have new Gigabite motherboard G33M-DS2R, copying with normal flash disk
works correctly.
How can I solve this issue in Vista, some special drivers for USB ?

What's My Problem ?
Thanks.
Your problem is windows vista, the drivers that come with WMDC are not compatible with the upgrade program. You need to either use XP or get the drivers from Activesync and install them instead of the WMDC drivers.
Thanks .
But From Where I Can Download Drivers ?
Read his post again.
get the drivers from Activesync
Meaning, use Activesync.

Do you mean install Activesync in Vista? Is that possible? Will Activesync run with Vista?

I used to have ivan's rom (old wm6 version) and it was working right with my windows vista computer (i updated it with my old wxp computer).
But I did the driver upgrade in windows vista for updating the rom to the beasty and lauren newest rom and now sync doesn't work. Even sync via Exchange of my company with wifi doesn't work in the machine...
It used to work perfectly before the update... what can be happening?

Installing the version of Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 was the resolution of my problem.
hi,
i own a htc cruise but the problem is i do not know what should I install in order to transfer the file or sync with outlook contact using cable from my cruise to pc or vice versa. I already install activesync and it does not work. The status is not connected and everytime I plug in the device via usb cable, it gives me error, device not recognize.
help me. what should I install? thank you.
Hope you have installed Active sync
Hi,
I think you need to instal Active sync. This is available on the CD which comes with TC. Otherwise here is the link to download.

Hope this helps.

If you have Windows Xp see previous post. In Vista you need:
for vista 32 bit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=46f72df1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914
for vista 64 bit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...56-7825-43B2-AC89-2030ED98ED95&displaylang=en
A hot to for anyone who makes the same mistake as me. You can't (or I couldn't) flash from Windows 7. I tried all day following the guide on here incase I was doing something wrong, however soon as I tried with XP, it worked first shot.
Now that I understand this system I will do a tiny bit of work to see if I can get it to work under 7, unless somebody already know the trick?
usb drivers? did activesync or WMDC install correctly on Win 7?

yeah, it comes with the latest version of WMDC / active sync. USB drivers were installed from Windows update so it would sync with the device.
The difference I noticed is when the XP would send the Treo to the bootloader (red, blue, green, white), the Host computer would recognise a 'HTC usb Hub' or something of the like.
Ya. I did it to my Treo 750 through Windows 7. Just follow the isnstructions here. It also doesn't work on vista unless you follow these steps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511763
On Step 2 it says this is only for Vista users, but follow those steps too.
I've not installed anything on the phone before.
I tried to copy a cab file to the SD card but I've got problems as the phone thinks there is no SD card present.
Can I copy the cab file to the phone's memory? I cannot see the phones memory through explorer on my PC though do I need some special software?
Srry if this is a stupid question I did search but found nothing
Try installing MS ActiveSync. Connect the HD2 to the PC using the usb cable. Once installed, you will be able to see the HD2's files in Windows Explorer. Just copy the cab file to a folder. Disconnect the phone and launch the cab file from the phone's file manager.
Cheers
Microsoft says Active Synch will only work with XP SP2 and earlier I have XP SP3.
Is there anything else I can use?
What does everybody else do - do you not install anything via PC to the phone?

For Vista or Windows 7 the used tool is called Microsoft Mobile Device Center (MSDC). For Windows XP (even SP3) active sync has to be used. Did you try it to install? I´m sure that it will work.
To install applications at your mobile device do the following steps:
a) connect it via active sync
b) using your PC´s Explorer to copy the cab-file containing your application to your mobile device and remember the place you copied it
c) disconnect your mobile device
d) using your mobile device´s go to the directory you copied the cab-file and start it
This way your application will be installed
But I´m sure you would have found the answer without asking here. Mr. Google knows it already

XP SP3 here, ActiveSync works with no problems.
As to the installing files to device - you may run out of memory soon, so I'd suggest buying even the smallest card (although preferably min 2GB, if you intend to toy with SD Android at some time)
