WM6 Shortcuts to Internet Favorites - General Topics

Anyone have an easy way of creating a shortcut on a WM6 device to an Internet Favorite? I am sure its just in the syntax, \windows\iexplorer.exe "http://mywebsite.com". I can not figure out how to create a blank shortcut, maybe there is an applet that helps with this. I want to create these shortcuts, hopefully with custom icons, that i can use in the HTC Launcher. Any ideas folks?

You could always just open the file itself....

I guess my problem is more that I can not select "files" from the HTC Launcher setup tool. It only shows you a select choice of what looks like registered programs. So I need to somehow register an internet favorite and change its icon.. one thing at a time though, i would settly for just registering the favorite.

Sms icon on desktop, help

hey, im not se good to english so hope you understand me.
I want at icon on me desktop, where i click, and it will go into at new sms.
where can i find the .exe file i me touch ?
Okay, so if i got that right, you want a shortcut to launch SMS editor, without going trough your inbox, just like on most standard cell phones?
If that is the case, you'll need to create a new shortcut. The best way to do it is to use a file explorer allowing to create shortcuts, but thye easiest is to create a new text file on your computer, neme it something like SMS.txt, open it with your notepad or whatever text editor you use, and paste the following into it:
Code:
39#"tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "" -body
now save the file, transfer it somewhere to the device ("/windows/start menu/programs" might be a good place) and change its name to SMS.lnk (or whatever you wish, just make sure that the extension is .lnk).
Now about adding it to the "desktop" - it depends on what plugins you use, but if you have a configurable launcher, and from what i understand, you use the Touch, which has a launcher by default, you need to add the shortcut you created to the launcher, just like you add any other program to it (as far as i know in touch it's just a matter of clicking an empty field in the launcher and navigating to the shortcut you created).
Good luck.

**Dev Request** Totally blank app

I've searched everywhere and can't find anything like this: I want a app that is completely blank and totally configurable through XML file so that I can place MY background pic and MY icons where I want on the screen to launch whatever app I want... It will look and act much like rlToday but NOT be a today plugin, rather a program so I can assign it to a button or whatever I want to launch it.
Is this a good idea/request?? Can it be done easy??
Something like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529212
what about HTC ActionScreen by Fabliv, it's a screen with 9 buttons, with the params in the registry.
Search for the cab of Fabliv and see what's inside.
Thanks but both of these ^^ are developed apps that have set up peram and what I want is a blank page, no back ground, no icons, no script, nothing.... Then assign everything through xml files.
This project could be a good foundation for such application:

Click to collapse
I have been checking this page occasionally but it is indefinately under construction so I don't know how I could use this utility..
Is there another utility I could use to try to create this app? I have yet to find anything close to a program I'm looking for...

keyboard/softkey shortcuts?

I've been searching for awhile on this forum, but I still can't find a way to create a shortcut that takes you DIRECTLY to a new text message or new calendar item.
Since I have my calendar on the homescreen, the only reason I actually go into the calendar app is to create stuff - why not just have the shortcut directly to it?
This seems like it would be relatively easy to do, but any ideas on this or something like it would be greatly appreciated Ideally, I'd like to set my 2 homescreen softkeys to those for one-touch access.....
thanks in advance

you can use the attached file for sms sending. it's a standart eten's utility. place it anywhere and make a shortcut to it)

Custom Contact & Bookmark Icons

I'm using dZenkinZ icon set and whilst I'm happy to use a graphics program to fiddle with an existing icon to make a new one for apps not covered by the existing set (eg Railway Live Departure Boards) I'm wondering if I can apply custom icons to Bookmarks and Contacts on my Home screen.
I've searched the forums, but couldn't see any clues...
Thanks
Anyone? Even just saying "no, it can't be done" would be a help!
bump on this as id like to know also.
E.G - i want to use the custom facebook icon from Dinik's set on my own bookmark of touch.facebook.com instead of just a screenshot of the link. (or any link i have)
I don't know for sure, but I thought it could only be done by cooking it into the rom.
If you want to know for sure wait for a dev or cooker to answer this, or post the question into the rom thread of the one you're using.
yes you can,
in registry HKLM\software\htc\manila\home\shortcut number\iconpath:whatever
delete folder 'proglauncher' from \application data\htc
restart manila

Looks like a great program but its not what im looking for....i want a program that allows me to rearrange my programs shortcuts under the start menu and the app provided only allows me to change the icons of the apps..thanx thou
Still looking for an App to do the above please
Have you tried your file explorer to cut and paste the shortcuts to wherever you want. You can add folders and rename them to put apps of a specific type into too if you want.
Ive had a look previously and there is no one repository that the shortcuts live, and i`d image that windows would arrange them by name if could find them which doesnt give me the option i want..
What i want to do is say move the facebook app which is at the bottom of the list and put it about half way up under all the system shortcuts or in a custom folder. The only option the rom gives is "more to top" or "move to bottom".
I hope im making sense.
If you are using WM 6.1 or 6.5, the shortcuts are in \Windows\Start Menu.
Perhaps you are referring to the Manila/Sense program tab are you? If yes, then you should be able to add/remove these from one of the soft keys.
Perhaps you can give us a screenshot of the programs you are referring to....
Hi there sorry for the delay...ive attached the screenshot as per your request.....
So what im wanting to be able to do is re-arrange any icon in the menu so like games to where marketplace is for example
Is this possible?
Hi
I don't understanding something
Is simple drag and drop method not working for you?
Longpress icon until it popsup, drag there you want, release finger.
i cant drag and drop, i think this is a limitation on the rom which is v2.1. The only option i have is to move the icon to the top as shown in the screenshot. All i want to be able to do is move one shortcut to somewhere else in the same menu... aka in the order i want. Im sure someone would have asked this before and that there would be an App that would allow a user to customize this menu.

Try this.
Thanx heaps i1ll give a go now and report bk...much appreciated
What rom are you using? If its a 6.5 you can use the drag and drop method described earlier to rearrange start meu icons.
Otherwise they are in this location: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
To create specific folders to move shortcuts to, would look like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Media]
"Name"="Media"
"Group"=dword:00000001
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Media.png"
... where "Name" is the name of the folder, "Icon" is the picture that will represent the folder on the start menu, and "Group"=1 tells windows that this is a folder. Once you have created all the folders you want you can use your file explorer to drag and drop the shortcuts into whatever folder you want
Thanx so much "artukas613" that program was exactly what i was looking for.....worked a treat. Thank you to all who helped.
