Android on Touch Pro - Touch Pro, Fuze General

As a noob I might be putting myself on a limb but...
What are the chances (is it even possible?) to get Android working on the Touch Pro?
Would it be run on top of WM6 (emulation)
or
would it boot Android?
Can it be done... will it be worth it?

im interested in this as well.. any news on android roms on the dream?

Android for VOX ?? will it ever work?

I was just wondering if we could have the andriod os on the VOX
Before it runs on Vox, it should maybe run on just one device^^ Wait for releases of a phones with Android. Nobody has the knowledge to port it, except maybe the linux guys, because it's linux-based. So maybe, maybe not, depends on driver support and a guy who ports it!
http://www.pocketables.net/2008/07/android-install.html
is there a way to try it on vox?
There are a few HTC (and rebrand) phones that have had Android successfully boot! some have even gone so far as to have keyboards mapped properly and data plans working
interesting..
UP!

Re: WM vs Android:
Android does not work 100% on WM devices so it's best to check the Android thread and see what isn't working and if you can live without it.
Alot of Android bases can work via haret on SD card so no need to flash, the nand versions you can flash back to WM via bootloader.
Make sure your Hard-SPL'd.

- You'll get better answers in the Diamond section.
- You didn't even say which model/carrier Diamond you have. GSM Diamond is different from Sprint/Alltel Diamond is different from Verizon Diamond. They are NOT interchangeable.
- Android for CDMA/Sprint Diamond is not really ready for prime time. Biggest problem is battery drain.
- You can try it WITHOUT flashing... just d/l the needed files and run it.
- The best forum to discuss ROMs for the Diamond is on www.ppcgeeks.com
- My favorite ROM for the Sprint Diamond is MightyRom 4. It is WM6.1. I see no point to WM6.5 for the Diamond.
OK thanks & sorry for impationtness would put it down to a bad day at the hair dressers or some thing but being bald/shaved that wont work so i just apologise ,yes i think looking about that i will stick with wm, i have seen the energy rom on the tube i like the look of that , the icons look real good and it seems smooth, so will have a look at some other roms and see, in an ideal world i would just get the handset of choise but i have to search for auction bargins to get my phones.. thanks Ali

Short: no!
Andoid is really meant for a touchscreen device..making it to work
without most likely involve significant effort.. (Source)

But it seems back in 2008 there was a demo that shows that it is possible: "Non-touchscreen Android Phone Demoed at CTIA"
But why you want that "dirty" walk around? I like WM6.1 very much!

Yes and no is not an answer its a strange response. The answer is it has been done but most developers here prefer working on high end phones.
Take a look at this post, Motorola just brought out a phone that does exactly that. As for popular non touch WM phones like Samsung S7550 and HTC snap.. they are just waiting for someone who wants some recognition and is not scared of the challenge.

As for your comment on WM 6.1, its the most app unfriendly system around making developnent difficult. Just try android and you will see what i mean.
To the Chefs: get ready, nontouch android should be with us soon if one of you hasn't already gotten hold of a build.
Somebody have now B7330 with android OS?
It is possible to make this?
Thnks.
What are possible (custom) roms, please advice :good:
It's a old phone but there must be nice rom's & apps for it, or not?
so please give you're opinion about this B7330 Samsung Phone!!

[Q] Touch pro - Androin or WM? I am confused

Hi. I own HTC Touch Pro T7272, i DID read the sticky, but I am still confused (may be because of my bad english). I have WM 6.5.3 right now, bit it's more and more laggy. I found out, that Android could be installed ony my device? If yes, would it be faster then WM 6.5? My father has Android and I like it more. If you would be so nice and post here link with guide where download and how to install Android into my phone? Thank you
Right now, I'd stick with winmo. If you find winmo is laggy, then installing Android is not the answer. I like it as a means to play around with but a part from that, nothing else seems to really fascinate me about Android, yet. Yeah, you can brag that you are running an OS other than what comes natively but over-all development is really slow for our device at the moment. If you like Android, my best suggestion is to get an Android native device. I'm sure this isn't the answer you were looking for but just thought I'd share my expereince with running Android on an older device.
for me i think android for touch pro is still have many bugs now. I have try to install froyo fx06 bundle, for the first time look i think it works good then windows but after a day i found that it drain battery, and sometimes wifi error and i need to restart my phone back to get it work, and the real problem is sometimes it's freeze. maybe we just need to wait a little while for someone release the new version.
p/s sorry if my english not good enough

Windows Mobile 6.5 Needed

Hello, I have been developing android for phones for a while but need to know if there is a way to port Windows Mobile 6.5 to the HTC CHACHA. I ask of this because I want to see the old 6.5 again but on a newer handset. I did like it then and want back now as well.
Please reply soon.

Are you joking? Dont do this s**t, dont put windows wher he shouldnt be.
Windows on phones is the worst mistake that MS do.
I know what you mean dude, but is it possible? I have loads of .cab files to test out on the OS and have been collecting them for years - if they work on the ChaCha I could be on to something.
The OS can be similar of that to the HTC Excalibur or the HTC Snap. It doesn't really matter which - but is it possible on the processor??
Gimme a shout (PM or something) with some other extra info (mainly how do you want the OS) and if there's any chance of taking it off an old HTC phone that I have lying around gathering dust on it. I remember having an .img with 6.5 but it got lost (prolly deleted it).
Hi, thank you for replying Alex C., i need a rom for the ChaCha in the format of the one that used to be on the Samsung Jack (it is a Windows Mobile 6.5 qwerty).
However will the ROM work on the ChaCha processor and will it be stable??
Also, the processor on the Jack is 528MHZ and the ChaCha is 800MHZ will there be a significant speed increase??
If you can get me a ROM that will boot and stable - we could open a Windows Mobile thread.
Also, you said you get something off a HTC phone - will HTC Excalibur be able to work on ChaCha.
Thanks Alex C. Please let me know soon, TechMayhem.
Don't bother wasting your time, you don't have any proprietary files, don't have a bootloader and WM doesn't have support for your phone.
Android phones use dalvik VM to load the java-based Android OS. WM is not java-based and can therefore not be booted by this phone. Only possibility is that you would mix up an WM 6.5 phone with the chacha, but I don't think you will succeed. Ever. You might try just picking up a second hand WM6.5 phone though, I don't think they cost much. And you could always try your .cab's on a emulator on your pc.
