I just got a brand new crusie and I love this thing. I had a Tilt, then the origianl 3450 Touch and now the crusie.
I've got it all set up and it seems to be working great on my AT&T network. modded someof my setting with cabs/ htc customiser.
The only problem that is KILLING me is the bluetooth performance is HORRIBLE. Both with my Motorola stereo S9 headset and my Jabra XJ10. The stereo moto set break in and out if I move a little or put the phone in my pocket. If it's right next to me not moving it's ok. If i run with it in my pocket, NO chance!
The regular jabra works ok with the TC right next to me as well, but if I walk even 15 feet away it just breaks up.
Both of these worked GREAT on my touch?
I remember when I had my Tilt there was a reg edit and an option in the Kaiser tweak for bluetooth performance. Has anyone had any problems with BT performance?? Any way I can Fix this????
Also, I'm either in E, G or H. Att here in chicago has a huge 3G network that supports HSPDA. I assume E is edge. Is G 3G or GPRS?? When my TC is in H is that the 3G or HSPDA? I don't see a 3G symbol?
I really an very impressed with the crusie, but REALLY need to figure out the BT issue as I use my jabra and moto S9 EVERYDAY...
Any help would be highly appreciated!!
You have installed the bluetooth hot fixes from htc.com?
I installed both the BT hot fix cabs.. The problems in the hot fixes (when the device goes into sleep mode) etc is not what I am experiencing but I tried them anyhow.
If I remember in the kaiser tweak there was some setting for bluetooth band width for performance?? Can we use the kaiser tweak with the TC? I assume not.
Is there a value in the reg that can be editing for this???
thanks again
FYI -- I have the same issue with my S9's. They worked great with my Touch, my Shadow, and my Dash but they work awful with the Touch Cruise. You pretty much have to hold the device up, near your head, to get a constant connection. My Plantronic 855's work fine though. Given that it's S9-specific, I don't think you'll find a registry tweak to fix it, though I could be wrong. If I had to guess, I'd say it's something that needs fixing with the S9's, not the Cruise -- wish they'd made them firmware upgradeable
Fixing Polaris choppy bluetooth stereo
I am using an O2 XDA Orbit 2 which is the UK O2 networks variant of the Polaris/Touch Cruise. I experienced the exact same problem with choppy stereo bluetooth sound on a pair of Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 headphones (which performed perfectly with my original HTC Touch). I performed the following registry tweaks and this seemed to improve performance significantly:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings :
Name: UseJointStereo
Value (DWORD): 1
Delete these two key/values
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings:
- BitPool
- MaxSupportedBitPool
I will give that a shot and I'll let you know.. What is the bit pool and the max??
Ok---
Under my settings, the use jointstereo DWORD value is already 1? what was yours?
should I still delete maxsupported and bitpool completely? any idea of what those do??
You want to turn joint stereo off, and that would be changing the number from a 1 to a 0. That won't help with distance, but it will improve the sound quality considerably. It's pretty much the same with any WinMo device -- for some reason joint stereo is turned on as a default. I returned a lot of stereo bluetooth headphones before I found this setting. I thought they were all crap, turned out to be the setting. If you Google 'bluetooth' 'joint stereo' you'll find info on how the setting degrades sound quality.
It's a shame this is turned on by default, the average user will never be poking around in their registries and wouldn't have a clue as to why stereo bluetooth on their WinMo device sounds so bad.
I've not changed the other settings the post mentioned though, if you do let us know how it worked out. Personally, I've switched to wired earbuds -- the best sound quality of all

UseJointStereo is set to 1 (this was the default setting); I don't actually know what the other two key/value pairs function is. I did some google research on choppy bluetooth stereo sound a while back after purchasing my XDA Orbit 2 and experiencing the terrible bluetooth performance. Apparently, the effect of making the changes I suggested is to improve the overall quality of the audio and reduce the 'choppiness' (intermittent signal connection/disconnections).
Both BitPool and MaxSupportedBitPool should be deleted (i.e. both key name and value) for the full effect of this tweak.
For more information on these registry keys just google BitPool, MaxSupportedBitPool, usejointstereo and polaris (all in the same search query).
I use sony bluetooth dr-bt21g stereo headphone. Installed hotfix and done reg tweaks. If i put my phone in my pocket it breaks up really bad. If i have my phone next me; amazing sound.
i think moral of the story, if ur on a plane or in the house then bluetooth headphones are good. If ur out washing the car, jogging or even walking they are crap so i have to revert back to wired ones
But I'm searching high and low to see if there is a fix for this. I cant believe that the Athena had very decent bluetooth connection. No problems at all. But switching over to Polars, I have to consider giving up my bluetooth headset. That aint good.
Is it an hardware problem? Is it possible the device is to small? I dont know
I hope they fix this!!!!
i dont know! it is bloody annoying when i paid over 50£ for my headphones. I tested in on my imate jamin (now with a2dp) and its the same so i dont think its the cruise. I just think bluetooth has not evolved enough yet, just a thought tho and i will test, wonder if the wifi conection interferes with bluetooth signal?
OOOOOHH.. Good insight timmymarsh. I havent even test thoroughly the wifi.
Good thinking buddy, I'm going to try that...turning off wifi and turning on and see if there is any difference!!!
BTW...thats good to know that it might not be the TC. I read somewhere on the Polaris thread that the bluetooth setting on this phone were suppose to be set up for newer bluetooth earpieces.....I dont know how true that is!!!!
I have never had an issue with bluetooth or wifi on my TC But I never have both on at once, If I am using bluetooth, wifi is turned off and vice versa. In the past I have had really big issues using lets say ericcson phones with moto headsets but if I upgraded the headset to the latest firmware they worked fine. I really do think that the issue is the headset and not the phone.
mm i really should learn not to post after drinking wine hence removed

Bizzare test....
I havent tested properly turning wifi off when bluetooth headset on yet, but yesterday i was washing my car in trousers that had no pockets, so i stuck my phone down my pants against my ass (ha ha). Reception was brilliant when i was moving around; previously when i had put my device in my trouser pocket the reception was terrible. I guess my body was acting as an ariel extending or improving the bluetooth signal hence the good reception.
Extreme i know, but at least you next have a valid excuse when someone says "is that something in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me......."

I did eventually test the bluetooth signal and quality with both wifi on and off and both my polaris and prophet.
With wifi on the signal was terrible when deivce was in my pocket, with wifi switched off the signal was good. The signal only started breaking up when with wifi was swtiched on and searching for an access point.
I now only use a2dp with wifi switched off. Im a happy bunny. btw my prophet never signal never broke once when jigging around the room, my polaris did a lil bit even with the wifi off, but there was a marked difference!!
Glad that worked out for you. For me, WiFi had no effect at all, on or off, the signal with S9's are just as bad and the Plantronic 855's just as good.

Hi People,
I'm looking to get potentially 3 Bluetooth Headsets for XDAII (for staff)
And I don't want any moaning once I get them that the quality is bad
Could you post your personal experiences of ones you have purchased and are using please. Would like some recommendations if possible.
I have a Sony-Erricsson HBH-35. Works like a charm.
No rebonding, it reconnects wether you'r out of range, the phone or headset has been switched off etc...
I have a Motorola HS810.
It's nice and small (even with the boom open). The audio quality is excelent. However, what really nags me is that it takes too long to boot the device when you open the boom, so that in most occasions it takes too long to connect to the XDA and I can't pick up a call in time.
Also, sometimes it simply doesn't connect to the device after I pick up a call on the XDA and I can't transfer the call to the headset.
Anyone with the same problems with this headset ?
My HBH65 works absolutely perfectly with the XDA2. Original XDA2 radio & Bluetooth stack - just as it came out of the box. I *never* need to rebond the two devices, even if they're switched off, out of range or whatever, and I can walk around my (small) house using the headset and leave the XDA2 on the desk.
Only criticism is the battery life on the HBH65, which is pants. I have to charge it every other day, at best, without much useage.
Still, it's *very* comfortable and the sound quality and volume is good in quiet environments. In the car it's a struggle, but that could be because I have a car with a 6 litre engine and no exhaust silencers...
I have a Jabra 250
Works perfect, never any bonding, or lost call problems, and as set 250 minutes of standby time, very small, and looks really smart. After I bought one, my wife wanted one too.
Thanks for the response all, much appreciated !
I opted for the Sony-Erricsson HBH-35
I got them from expansys and got them the next day! .... they are great. The call quality is excellent. I think the boom helps to eliminate background noise as the mic doesn't have to be too strong.
Now i just need to go to the "using it" forum to find out how to use voice dialing :s
Logitech BT headset is the best !
I really like the Bluespoon Cameleon. Works very well. Only about $100. Much less obtrusive than other Bluetooth headsets. You can change it's colors, which is cool. It's much smaller and lighter than other headsets as well.
It was so good, that I thought I'd go one step further and get the Bluespoon Digital, which I just started using. The Bluespoon Digital seems to get the call transferred instantly (quicker than the Cameleon), and it's about the size as the end of my thumb.
I havn't had the chance to try out the automatic gain control (changes volume of speaker based on ambient noise), or the digital noise cancellation (blocks out slow moving ambient sound).. but those features sound mighty nice!
About bluespoon, I have a pb, seems really good when I make a call but impossible to use it when i receive a call, no transfer to the headset

What's a pb? With the Bluespoons, you press a button on the headset to transfer the call to it.
really doesn't work, dunno why !!!!!
If you have an advice, I'll really appreciate it

Did you try a hard reset of the Bluespoon? Also a soft reset according to the instructions in the manual? After a soft reset you'll have to recreate the bond.
Plantronics M3000 is the best one I could fine. Everyone would always tell me they couldn't hear me. The M3000 sounds very clear, connects as a Bluetooth Device and battery life is around 2 days.
Very small around the ear, no cords, or mess. I like it.
My brother just got a Tilt and he's having problems with his BT. He says, he can't even walk 5ft away from the headset without hearing static and interfereance. He believes it's a problem with the BT stack. Can this be replaced or modified for better performace?
BTW, I think he's using Dutty's 2nd to last touch ROM with radio 1.27.14.09
having the same problems with 2 tilts. Just got another phone and the same issues keep popping up. I cannot even use the BT with the phone on my hip! A butload of crackling, and interference. Makes any use of BT pointless, as it has more or less become line of sight use only (like IR).
This is my first post on here, but have been lurking for a little while. I have yet to do any mods to either phone (and gave the 1st one back), as I was hesitant to tweak a locked ATT phone, until I knew it didn't have any bugs.
I have to wonder if it has anything to do with ATT's bloatware, as every single HTC I've ever had, seems to have perfect BT reception, all the way out to the max range of BT. (35+ Ft)
forgot to mention, after testing various BT devices, and identical headsets, I can comfortably say that it MUST be a tilt specific issue. Maybe there's an HTC patch for it...... I will look around.
My BT on the HTC WWE rom is the same, in my car it takes about 2-3 sec.s to connect to the builtin bluetoothunit when some calls me up?
The phone and car are paired and everything - I have have never used a HTC branded WM smartphonephone/PDA with such a bad BT Stack.
Hey guys I currently have a Tilt running alex's stripped rom with radio 1.27.14.09. I love the rom as its been the fastest i have tried however I recently bought a motorola s9 stereo bluetooth headset for music and i'm getting lags in play back. For example if i have it on my belt clip it will cut in and out periodically but if i leave in on the table and walk 25 feet away it will work fine. Just weird stuff like that. Is there a better rom out there for stereo bluetooth playback??
thanx

This is what I put in my Rom for best "quality". (W/ joint stereo and bitpool disable, and 48000 sample bit rate). Works fine w/ my JVC BT-1 and Sony DS220.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"USEJOINTSTEREO"=dword:0
"SampleRate"=dword:BB80

Correct, these are the same settings that I use as default for my ROM and works well with my S9. Although I still can occasionally have the cut out you describe these settings seem to make it much rarer.
i just recently got some s9's and i love them. same settings and everything!
only one problem though, when wlan is turned on i get the cutting out. when it is off everything is fine. any ideas?

I don't personally have this problem...but it shouldn't be surprising...802.11b is probably what you're using and it traditionally has a lot of interference issues with Bluetooth. You might want to try setting your WLAN to "best battery". You probably won't really be able to change the type of base station you're connecting to if its one at work when you have the issue so that's about the only advice I can give.

But ... according to this article ... "Menneisyys" advised to set the key to "1"
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2004&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more2004
quotes:
""As a rule of thumb, if a given ROM version supports Joint Stereo, then, it’s capable of delivering pretty good A2DP quality. That is, if, in the Registry, the value HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings\UseJointStereo (note that HKLM, as usual, stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) is 1 , meaning enabled (NOT 0, meaning disabled) and the sound is (still) stereo, then, you have the new, WM6-based, high-quality A2DP implementation."""" ...
~~
""Don’t forget than in pre-WM6 times you HAD to disable the Joint Stereo mode; therefore, if you have ever run automatised sound quality enhancer tweaks (for example, with the excellent HTweakC tool) , they may have already set this to 0 (which isn’t recommended any more)."" ...

I use jabra and if I have the phone in my pocket, the sound gets tons of static, my a2dp headset tends to skip when the phone is in my pocket, out of the pocket it works perfectly, if I put the phone behind me, thus my body is in between the headset and the phone, i also get tons of static even though the distance is 20 inches.
I tested my 3125 smartphone against the Touch cruise and the 3125 range was three times farther then the touch cruse. Back to mobileplanet this heap of **** goes.

The radio stack on the test ROM makes a HUGE difference
I have the same issue even with the new radio--bluetooth strength much weaker than my old trinity. Wonder if there is a registry setting to boost the signal?
this phone is brutal, with 3g and bluetooth on, I drop calls like no tommorrow,it seems when driving it is even worse. I seen it where it has perfect signal and for no apparent reason, it drops the call. It just gives me three faint beeps when it disconnects. I don't know what it means, also these phones are not assembled well. this sucks for 700 dollar phone, I did try the new radio also, it didn't make no difference other then I didn't get disconnected on 3g as much but bluetooth still sucked, my 3125 I measured again has 3 times the range, just having your hand in between the phone and the headset gets you lot of static on the headset. I sent mine back today. Bluetooth is critical to me,I figure HTC would at least get the bluetooth right but I guess they are a mess right now with all their issues. Hoping to get hp 614 instead.
I am using the Jabra BT3030, works like a charm. This is with the default rom.
Plantronics Explorer 510 here. Absolutely perfect sound.
Parrot MK6100 car HF set. Crap, thin sound reported on the other side. Low volume.
To be more specific- both sony ds200 and itech r35 have good sound, no static but the range is very poor and easily blocked by a human body. The sony sound is much better probably because its bluetooth 2 with a better data rate. The a2dp (only with the sony) needs the "a2dp fix" and a fresh reboot before using in order not to have the drop outs. All told, not much different than with my trinity but with less range. Very disappointing considering price and another year to perfect the system. HTC really does need to work on the drivers and software before selling the device. The average user is not going to go to all this trouble and will be very letdown.
Hi friends, i bought yesterday a bluetooth samsung hm1500 headset (2.1 bt + edr)
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/samsung-hm1500-bluetooth-27371p.html
and i can't connect with tg01. The phone cannot detect it. I tried everything for hours , tried with all available roms but still nothing.
Can anyone help please ?
Use the traditional problem solving procedure
1) Test your new headset with another phone (friend, relative....)
2) Test your TG01 with another Bluetooth device
Good luck! Tell us the results
Motorola are the best
Bluetooth headphones are real fussy. Motorola's pretty much work with everything I've found.
Thanks friends for the replies, i send it back, doa, i tried with 3 other mobile phones and nothing with noone conected only with my laptop was possible to connect, very special bluetooth.
Has anyone found a bluetooth headset that one can have a decent conversation with others without having problems of not being heard loudly? I have two headsets, a cheap ebay hong-kong one and a Nokia BH-215. People complain hearing me very low with both. If i get away from the phone but within the bt radius things get even worse and don't get better even if i get close to the phone again. I think it's because of the phone and not the headset.
Did you try SRS 3 cabs install?
No but i used it once and i remeber that it messed up my bt connection. But that was back in 6.5.x rom. Maybe i''l give it a shot now that i'm on 6.1.

Hi Jonous,
I'm using it with the other radio - what was effectively the 'Italian' stock radio 0300.76
It's difficult to compare notes with this sort of thing remotely... but I'd confrm that there is 'some' degree of background noise present even on this high-end BT headset device when compared direct to a hard wired uUSB connection (into the same earphones - per my sig). Like any audio device, I'd recommend keeping the volume level on any element in the chain to < 60% in order to keep noise down.
DEspite the above, I'd regard the MW600 as a quite capable piece of kit in conjunction with the TG01 giving extra flexibility - but it is a trade-off to some extent with quality.

Hehe i feel like an idiot, i enbarked on an endless journey of flashing and flashing different radios and trying out the sound quality of each one cause bt headset is very important for me. When i got to 0300.76 suddenly sound was crystal clear! On the 1st test call. On the second call i was bearly heard, crappy sound again. Then it it struck to me...I remembered that sometimes when you press the answer call button of the headset the sound is transfered to the phone...I thought "no it can't be...if this is it i'm a real idiot!!!" And yes, when i pressed the button again sound was transfered to the headset and sound was magnificent! So the lousy sound i got with all other roms was because i was trying to be heard through the phone's micrphone which was some 2-3 away from me hahaha so other end of line heard little or nothing.
Well enough said, this headset is brilliant, loud n clear sound, caller id, fm radio everything! well almost, i wish it had vibration too but don't care, i'm happy with my buy! Thanks again

You are most welcome - I'm delighted you are up and running and happy with the S-E MW600 headset. There are so many variables with these things as well as the subjective element wjhen it comes to perceived audio quality that it is difficult to translate one person's experience to another. Great news
the Sony MW600 is really great !
But don´t forget to increase the bitrate of the streaming codec.
I modified/added this values in HLKM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings
BitPool 65
MinSupportedBitPool 65
MaxSupportedBitpool 65
SampleRate 48000
SubBands 8
Blocks 16
Allocation 1
UseJointStereo 1
Unfortunately Track names are not submitted like with SE or some HTC phones
Hi Friends!!!
I have also the same problem with a BT car.
And the problem is like it´s been described (sound very loud in the microphone)....
I remember that in my I780, I changed some settings (don´t remember if it was in Hardware or registry).
Anyone had a solution?
