applications keep auto closing..help me, please.. - General Topics

Hello all...
I am at an end here, frustrated and very sad..
No, now really the problem.
I've searched high and low for this problem, and really can't seem to find a solution.
I have a htc Tytn, or hermes.
If I haven't performed a reset in a couple of hours, when I run an app, like NEtfront, or Messenger, then for instance go to write a text message, the tytn closes all other apps.
This is starting to become very annoying, especially since I am also running s2u2, and s2p.
If s2p is running, and s2u2 locks the phone, after a couple of seconds s2p auto closes.
Really tried everything, this is really bugging me out, anybody had or has the same issue?
Please, please pretty please with cherry's on top, can anybody help me?
Running on Schapp's rom, 4.22
Using quickmenu, want to use x to really close apps, maybe that's related, but problem is also there when use x to close is deactivated.
Running SBSH today screen plugin (Ilauncher) as well, but also with task manager function disabled..
This is getting so annoying, someone please help me!!

It's probably closing them because of insufficient program memory.

Solution Found!!!
It's been a long and tiresome search, but I finally got to the root of the problem
Tried different roms, same result.
Tried registry keys for HTC Taskmanager and autoclose memory threshold as found in this forum, no result..
Finally I found out it's Oxxios closeapps causign my programs to autoclose.
I used it to cleam my memory every now and then, and used it as the run on unlock for A_C brilliant S2U2 tool.
So basically Closeapps would run the instant my TyTN booted...
Now what I found out, is though you do nut run Closeapps activally, after it is used once, it does something to your memory and WM..don't ask me what...
It seemed to be closing programs unwanted.
Now that I removed Oxxios closeapps, my mobile can run multiple programs without isuues.
When I run it once, back to square one...
Oxxios hibernate does not seem to do this, so I'll try using that if I want to clear some Memory..
So everyone with the same issue, spread the word.
It can be HTC Tasmanager (registry values for autokill and memory threshhold, search this forum for exact details)
AND\OR
OXXIOS CLOSEAPPS.exe
if you run it once, it will close your apps untill next reboot...
I did not know that, and it caused a lot of frustration..
So hope I can help out some other frustrated users..
Take care, and thank you all for your input oin this, glad I got it sorted...

That has got to be the dumbest explanation I've ever heard.
I don't have CloseApps installed ATM and WM6 still automatically closes background tasks when it needs memory.

curious...after market app compatibilities with wm6??

i have a few fave programs that ran fine prior to installing wm6. now these apps seem to want to work, but end up hanging rather than opening and running. i am not a software wiz...so is this an issue with the programs not being able to run a super new os (x- plore 1.1), or is it with wm6 itself? the main one i'd like to get running is a meditation program called pocket natura. when i run it, the page goes white as if the program main screen wants to load...then it stays white. i need to close it out (if it lets me) or soft-reset. i would love to know if this is the wm6 or if it is just these certain apps not being able to run on wm6.
any info and/or tips would be most appreciated.
I have not run into any trouble with any apps on wm6. I am running faria's wm6 rom. But, just because i have not had any trouble does not mean that it is the same for all.
well i have uninstalled 1.1, and installed faria's...still i could not get those few apps to run. so next i installed the wm5 superrom, and without incident, those apps ran. so i am assuming that either the wm6 roms have an unknown glitch regarding third party programs, or i managed to find the few programs that are just too damned stubborn to run in wm6!!
thoughts on this?
i really liked the 2 wm6 roms i tried out, but i REALLY like the couple of third party apps that don't seem to want to run in wm6. is there any way of getting around this, or am i doomed to run wm5 or give up my fave apps to run wm6???
as always, thank you for your responses and insight/help.

Today plugin and SIP memory

I'm having trouble with this shared memory. I can't get stuff like calligrapher to load up about half the time. I have using SKTools DELETED completely many today plugins, and all other SIPs from HTC. My today screen is also completely empty. Still I have trouble loading anything other than the keyboard. Even transcriber won't load sometimes. Any ideas how to find out what's taking up today memory? Or how to increase it?
Any luck on this?
I'm curious, too. Granted, Calligrapher, PCM keyboard, Ultimate Launch eith PhoneAlarm, Weatherpanel, and a bunch of other smaller plugins might be too much to ask, but I seem to get the best results when I ask just a bit too much. I'd gladly sacrifice some program memory to have all my sips at the ready. I'd even take a walk though a kitchen & build my own rom if i could increase this tiny memory pocket reserved for sips & today. Anyone care to be a hero & explain it?
Calligrapher only, load with lnk
but still empty today screen.

Raphael is brutally closing programs!

Raphael is brutally closing programs!
I really dunno why is this happening... I have 50% of RAM free and it lets me run just 3-4 programs together. When I run one more... it occasionally selects one thats previously ran and kills it silently... I really wouldn't like to "Clear Storage" from settings
I also had this problem when I first got my TP. It's a simple fix - you need to disable AutoKill. With a registry editor, go to HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager, and change the value of “EnableAutoKill” to “0".
^ yes this a good fix. I remember I couldnt switch between opera and replying to a text message, I felt like I was back to a feature phone, with one thing at a time capability.
There is also a registry tweak that instead of killing apps you can change the threshold at which the system starts auto-killing, same registry path.
You guys are amazing! THANK YOU! BUT... I still have the problem
Any other ideas?
You can refer to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426585
In the section of "Tips", there is a tweak which solved the problem perfectly
Thank you. Tried that caches tweak, it made whole system run much faster. But still - i cannot seem to get 4 proggies to run at the same time. Always the first dies... flip flop
This thread is turning into a copy of few others around here. Only this is new and alive.
Please help me out.
I've tried:
1) The HTC Task Manager registry tweaks
2) The cache sizes maximizing
and...

Maybe the ugly 32MB/32Process limit (http://msmobiles.com/F/viewtopic.php?p=36334&highlight=&sid=c6b5982e059ec35ce19fd3cd952bd683) is still present in WinMo6.1?
Hello!
OMFG! After disabling autokill my TP started to act almost like desktop in case of multitasking
I was able to run around 12 programs at a time, but i've also made changes to memorytreshold, the value i set was 173015040 (1.5 times the default value).
The funny thing was that TP was still responsive to commands and even opera ran smoothly when surfing throu light web pages.
First app closed after memory usage peeked around 65%, but the rest was still responsive.
Hope this helps
BHole
Thats my point. Same limit like 65% because I have customized my device with launchers, hardkey remapper, Wktask etc. Now I can have (only) five apps running at a time... Is there a sort of free RAM threshold inside the WM6 or HTC-s stock (1.9) ROM. Maybe it is still the 32 process limit from the old times?
Hello!
It looks like there is some kind of limit to number of proceses or memory used by them but if you customized your pda maybe you should disable some of the oryginal programs that are runing in the background. I saw some registry entries in taks manager that hid some of the runing aps maybe not all of them are nesesery for you and can be disabled to lower proces count.
BHole
Yeah.. but I would like to USE the RAM the device has.... I'd like to run manymany programs so the RAM load would be for example 95%. Why is not that possible?

Missing file errors.

Whenever my phone wakes up from a sleep or I end a phone call, three error messages pop up saying that I'm missing three different files.
Yesterday, I installed some weather apps to try out, but I forgot to backup my regs. So when I uninstalled them, they must not have cleaned up too well and still try to run!
Three errors are:
Cannot execute \program files\Outerdepth\KPWeather\KPWeather.exe
Cannot execute \program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\weather.exe
Cannot execute \program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\monitor.exe
I searched the registry and found some registry entries in the Mort process key. Deleted those. Error still persists.
There is nothing in startup like these. No program files to look for because the folders aren't there.
I just want my phone to go back to normal. Preferably without hard reset.
Please help this fool. :'(
EDIT:
Forgot to say, I'm using a Samsung Omnia i910. Upgraded to compact.net framework 3.5, if that is relevant.
Perhaps this would be more appropriate in each packages
thread?
EDIT:
Please refer to these links respectively

Done with it.
I just decided that it was better to hard reset the phone. The trouble and hours I spent on this weren't worth it, and I just wanted to get back to enjoying my phone.
Maybe these posts will get some sort of exposure and have the problem solved so the next person can find it.
I went the same route and hard reset the phone as well. Oh well!
try reinstalling them and then uninstalling them using SKTools
oh.. and then perform a cleanup using SKTools
still..
.. after using SKtools on a Polaris (uninstall, cleaning up, in normal and safe mode, you name it) I still get the same annoying message.
is there any solution to this?
thanx
alex.
That annoys me totaly. SKTools don't fix the problem. I only could fix it with a dummy exe file. But don't have tested it. It would be nice if the coder of

Never saw an app like that. No registry key, no startup files, but annoying error messages.

Verizon Tp2 user has a couple questions...

I have just recently got my Tp2 from verizon and have been playing with it for a few days now. I have been on this website for the past couple of days and have learned a few things to do with my new phone. The only thing Ive done so far is dl and install a HDWall wallpaper and skyfire for whenever I need flash. I have been looking around to maybe make a theme on Tp2 but making th tabs and clock translucent/transparent. From what I have found this isn't possible with my phone yet or if it is, it is buggy. Is this true or not? If not can someone point me in the right direction for me to get it on my phone. Next, I've noticed my phones memory is around %55-60. I was just wondering if this is normal? Does the HD wallpaper up the memory a lot? I know there is a program called cleanram that can help free up some memory, but will it do that much for me? I havent read into it fully yet but plan on it in the next couple of days. Thank you guys and gals for your time and patience.
I'd say that's just about normal. I only have a twitter app loaded in, and I do occasional browsing on opera when I'm out and about and I lock in at 68% or so. I think that the app is causing a memory leak, but no big.
I also found a good cleanup app on PPCGeeks that really sped up my TP2. I'm on verizon as well, and I'd recommend it. As to the transparent tabs, curtains and clocks, every one that I've installed has caused issues and I hope things get a little more stable in the next few weeks.

As far as your ram situation, that is normal with the stock TP2. Mine was also fresh out of the box and it showed the same percentage you have. You have to install a registry editor and go through the following process. (The cab for the registry editor is attached to this post)
Using your registry editor, navigate to “HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\ResProxy” and change “ShareMemSize” to 0. By the way, if you want Opera to show up in HTC’s task manager, go to “HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System” and delete "Opera9.exe."
Now to avoid Opera from running on the startup. Use this registry tweak to close opera with Task manager
* Go to: HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\TerminateProcess
* There, create a DWORD with the name Opera9.exe value "1"
I learned through this forum that when you tap the X on opera or even close it through the menu options, it only minimizes it instead of actually closing it. This is to produce a faster page load whenever you open opera, thus appearing as if it loads fast. While its running in the background, its actually refreshing your favorite pages at set intervals to keep the content fresh so when you open opera, all the content of the page is already downloaded on your device. Unfortunately this comes at a cost of 2 things, ram, and battery life. Applying these tweaks is a matter of preference. You either choose a faster loading browser in opera, or more ram and battery life. I hope this helps. Enjoy.
Thanks for the reply..After posting this last night I did install the verizon tweeks cab and it has helped my memory drop tremendously (low-mid 40's) So thats nice. Thanks again for your input.
care to share it?

Ok is it safe to assume that in the "TerminateProcess" folder of the registry, this is only allowing me to kill opera, not really stopping it from loading, right?

You are absolutely correct. But once you kill it, it will only load when you open it, and when you close it, it really closes. This registry edit only takes away the ability for Opera to "smart minimize" only and not close. When you apply that edit, it will actually close instead of "smart minimizing" all of the time. This option was only put in so opera is always refreshing your favorites keeping the content up to date so that when you "opened" Opera, it would appear to be a "faster" loading browser, but in essences it just keeps the content fresh in the background costing you battery life and ram. Hope this clears things up.
