If not perhaps one for the HTC Visionary?
#xda-devs on freenode
Hey everyone, I posted this in general but figured I would post it here as well. I have set-up a irc channel for the G2X. I set it up for a number of reasons. It allows users with issues to stop by the channel and get "instant" help from a dev or more experienced user. For Devs it gives them a place to go to get testers immediately for roms/apps they are working on. We have one for the moto xoom and all the devs come in there when they have things that need to be tested. I know it has made the dev's life easier for the xoom because whenever he needs someone to test there is usually someone available. My goal is to make this channel a great resource for devs, testers and power users to come togethger and share ideas etc... I'm also looking for a few trustworthy people to become mods in the channel. (Established devs always get mod access)
The channel is on freenode irc. #LG-G2X
Thanks, was waiting for a channel to start up.
Not by a cpu. Any way i can access the irc through app?

How do I add it in addchat? I'm new to this
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
New Server, fill in the address as chat.freenode.net and your nickname as what you want to be called. You can leave username blank but fill in autojoin with #LG-G2X and save it. Oh, the name field, the first one on the screen is the name you want it saved under.

Was wondering if anyone over here at XDA would like to get a live chat going?
I have software on my website already, but i'm wondering if anyone's interested.
It wouldn't be like XDA, because well, every time you log out, the chat history is cleared. But it'd be a great place to ask questions for immediate help.
So far...

This would be a good idea. I will help mush as i can.
Are you ever on?

Alright, this is quite dead, opening it up to any general talk. If you have question about what dev work is going on or any other stuff like that, feel free to stop by and talk to us. I and a few others are on all the time.
I have just created an IRC channel to be used for general questions and answers. Keep in mind I can not be around 24/7 and nor can anyone else, so you may not get a response right away or at all, but it should be much faster than the forums.
Feel free to just hop on and see what is going on in there.
What Is IRC and This Channel?
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It is a very old chat protocol, but us still used a lot. A channel on IRC is like a private room where anyone that joins it can chat. Because it is an instant messaging system, simple questions can be answered much quicker and easier than in the forums. Keep in mind it is not a replacement. many types of questions should still stay in the forums.
What Should This Be Used For, and What Should Stay In the Forum?
What should be asked here:
1. basic questions that will likely be easily answered
2. things you think have been posted before but cannot find, someone may know where they are
3. asking for opinions on a theme or other requests for people.
Examples:
1. "Where is the boot animation stored on the phone" - nice short answer of /system/media/bootanimation.zip
2. "has anyone seen that post about X"
3. "looking for a few people to test out a rom" PM me on XDA
What should not be asked here:
1. things that would be very relevant to other people
2. complicated problems that take a lot of explanation/ screenshots
3. complaints about lack of dev support or anything else
4. off topic disscussion- you can do that in some other room
How Do I Join This Chat Channel
Short Answer:
Use any IRC client and join #atrix2_qa on Freenode
Long Answer:
If you are not Familiar with IRC you have 2 choices to join in. The first is easier, but you will not be connected all the time, and I would recommend against it if you want to hang around
1. Webchat:
Go to http://webchat.freenode.net/ and choose a username and put #atrix2_qa for the channel, and of course fill out the captcha then hit connect. You can see who is connected on the right. if know one is on try again later. Use your xda username so people know who you are.
2. using a client:
Linux: you can use the built in chat with ubuntu. go to edit-accounts, then add one with the plus at the bottom choose IRC, freenode, and your nick (use your xda one so people know who you are). Then hit room-join and choose #atrix2_qa.
Windows: you can use pigeon I know plus may others. I can post a how to if needed, so let me know
Mac: I know there are clients, but I have never used them, so google it.
Please post any questions about how to use IRC in this thread.
Even if you don't have a question, come join and see what is being discussed. I don't mind general talk about our phone if it is quiet in the chat, so come hang out.
I will be on most of the evening, so you can com ask or say hi
Thanks for this! It will be very helpful to the community, and a great idea! :good:
Awesome idea I hope it catches on

Just a heads-up: the link you posted doesn't work. It leads to a page that says "you do not have permission to access this page".
i wonder if there an official xda developers irc channel
it would be cool to have it on freenode or efnet.

While I know I'm bumping this thread, it still shows up on google results . That IRC channel is for the HTC EVO, as such I cannot really see this as a "official XDA GENERAL irc channel'. Just wanted to point that out.
