Upgrade questions- reassurance needed

Hi folks,
I was interested in upgrading to WM5.0 from WM2003 on my SPV M2000 (=XDA 2). However since I've come here i've got the impression that it could be riddled with problems. I'm a total n00b and I've been overwhelmed with different ROM versions and fixes....I wondered if you folks could help me a bit.
Is it worthwhile to upgrade? What has your experience been?
Will old WM2003 programs work on WM5.0 (I have loads of them)
Are there any bugs I should know about or will everything run smooth?
What are the disadvantages?
How do I go about upgrading? I upgraded my ROM once before using an update released by Orange. But the .exe file did it all for me. All I had to do was connect the device via the cradle and click next (pretty much).

PS - is this the correct forum? (I'm guessing SPVM2000 is a hymalaya)
PPS - sorry if some of these questions have come up before. I'm sure a few of them must - I checked as best I could but I'm a total n00b and I'm dyslexic which doesn't make post plodding easy.

I do have a XDA II MDA II so please tell me if this is easy. i'm also a noob and dont want to screw up my new phone i got right away.

New First Time Owner Of Orange Spv M5000 Needs Help !!

I'm new to all this.I've bought a SPV M5000 from abroad a couple of days ago.It's been used a little i see,found some contacts etc..
Now,i'm reading my eyes out on this forum trying to learn and.. uhhh.. not going well I don't know any of this stuff and don't understand much of the terms and phrases i stumbled upon.
But i got this: i have WM 5 installed on this lovely machine,and i gotta install wm 6.1 (so i've been told) and all other stuff that belongs to it to make a nice complex system.I don't know where to start,i don't know which rom to download and the procedure,i've read many things about unlocking and bricking the pda so i'm scared.Is anyone willing to help with a list of steps of all i have to do ? Thanks in advance.So,help me or kick me in the butt for being a noob

SPV C600 Complete Unlock

Sorry for starting a new thread guys,
I am having major issues trying to get my spv c600 unlocked to use any sim card.
now, i have rom version 2.0.6.0 and radio version 4.0.13.16_01.03.00
i recently unlocked and flashed a tytn2 which was much easier...
could people please throw me some complete suggestions?
i feel like crap for doing this but ive been searching all day and now i cant be bothered anymore all my moral has gone
please take a moment and help a poor lonely computer nerd unlock an older phone for his poor far away girlfriend...

C600 unlock and SPV services..

Hi guys, I'm trying to unlock my SPV C600 and have had no problems until the SPV services part, is SPV developers down and if so is there an other way to get the codes. My searches are going round in circles as everybody is using SPV services.
