is any way to fix it? as someone told me to downdload custom voices not official release by tomtom, voices will work. i just don't understand what is the different ? they both official release and custom they all use same extension file, why official not working and custom will work?

You have no included voices because you are downloading and installing a TRIAL version. TOMTOM is a commercial package and if you want the full maps (don't ask how to find the full maps here) instead of just the 1 trial map and the voices then you should pay for the full package.
That being said, as indicated the free tomtom voices work fine and only require you to download 3 files to the VOICES folder in root of the storage card and delete the combined.ini file so tomtom will rescan the voices. I personally use the "knight rider" voice.

combined.ini is in the voice folder where all the other files go. You should be able to switch between voices at will..not sure how else you plan to "use more than 1 voice".
i'm still can get it work, could not find combined.ini file..i'm now download tomtom 7 repack 3 hope this will fix...
i have create map and voices folders in root directory device memory, map work fined but still have no voice useable ( all voice is in voices folder), i'm not sure because of WM 6 or tomtom itself..
i test it on my friend WM 5 it's work perfect on both voices and map..but WM 6 no voices...
my map version is META-14 ( with no voices built in )

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I used WM5 on my Atom with Tomtom 5 and it work perfectly ok with map and voices. Now upgraded to WM6.1 and Tomtom 7, the map works but no voices. Tried put voice folder onto everywhere on my SD card still no luck. Need help guys.

Can anyone tell me how to install tom tom 5 to the xda exec? I copy the files direct to my sd card and it's supposed to auto install after re-installing the sd into the exec.The start up screen comes up and goes off - nothing else.Needless to say I've installed the same onto my xda II without any problems - any help appreciated.

Search the forum, you can use TomTOm 5.1 with the XDA Exec apparently if you install the CABs to the Storage card. It has to be the update 5.1, V5 won't work at all.

Although they offer no support it does work but the standard installer will not work. The maps are really nice on the higher res screen.
You have to copy the CAB files to your SD card and run them manually. EG double click them.
You will need TomTom 5.1
The files you need are
ttn.cab
gps.cab
wzd.cab
PIMAddin.cab
I run them in that order. Then i use Checkpoint version 5 for the POI warnings like speedcameras etc.
My TomTom BT Receiver is found automatically but a friend has a third party BT Receivers and we had to mess about a lot to get it to work. There are instructions in another thread on here for that if you need it.
Again thanx to everyone for the info, in reading that I managed to get it up and running - what a vast improvement to the last version and with superior graphics.

Can't seem to find any gps signal at all, when pairing the two it comes up with a question mark and the name of the receiver ( no question mark on the xda2).Is there drivers to download and if so where do you download them to or can you re-direct me to the site/post you're talking about. Do a search in the kaiser section ... the answer is there somewhere. I know that when i installed TT7 on my Kaiser, i had to rename and move the installation folder. An error would still be reported by TT Home, however this could be ignored, and sync would then happen normally.
I have TT7 working fine and very fast on my Pro and on my Diamond - version 7.450.9028 with the official Diamond Maps purchased, downloaded and installed from tomtom.com - the Diamond Ver 7 maps are specifically designed for the VGA screen but actually take up less memory?
Also - both versions of TomTom home also work well but I preffer ver 2.3 as it was easier to add the extra's such as Map Styles, new voices and a car icons!

Bah... My Touch Pro didn't come with TomTom...
The touch pro does not have TT7, however you can get the cab from the kaiser forum. Maps can be purchased from Tom TOm - select the TOuch Diamond under map ugrade.
TT7 works great also on my Touch Pro (as long as no other programs are running, which preferably should be the case). Can't compare to TT7 on the Diamond though since I don't have one, but can only assume that the extra RAM on the Touch Pro could be making the difference here!??

tomtom 7 works okey and responds fine, however, comparing it with a tomtom one and for example passing a river, it seems to lag 50 meter behind, so you get the directions a little later then it should be
So this way you may mis an exit.

I only have the free london city map.
OK, TT7 and Touch Pro is killing me... I tried a number of things and I cannot get it to work with MapShare. The device never shows up in TOMTOM Home. So here are some specific questions:
Which version to install?

Make sure the tomtom app is installed under "navigator" and not "Intern guheugen". Create a new directory under root and copy all the files across. Tomtom Home should then recognise your device.
I have TomTom 6 on my Touch Pro and it works stonkingly well, no real difference in performance from my old Navman. I had to turn off "assisted GPS" in Schaps advanced config though cos it kept losing the signal every 5 seconds or so with it enabled.

That's just the point of this thread... I want MapShare to work so that I can purchase maps...
Still working on this one... It looks like the TOMTOM Home application is looking for the ttnavigator.bif on the device and once it finds it, the device is listed? Can someone confirm this? By just copying a ttgo.bif file to the root of a removabale media, this is being recognized by TTH as a device. And the older verion of TTH works with the TP having ttnavigator.bif in Program Files\Navigator. Any suggestions on how to solve this puzzle?
I have exactly the same problem - TOmTOm home does not see any device connected. Strange that i had no issues with this on my kaiser, yet i can't get it to work on the pro.

Ok, think I have sealed my own fate to some extent here, but hoping there might be a solution.
I had a Kaiser which I installed TomTom 7 on using the hack whereby you buy the maps for the GO 720 and trick the Home app into thinking that it is a 720 (before the diamond maps were available - what can I say, I'm impatient! ;-) )
Anyway, predictably, I've now got my TP and have installed the tomtom 7 cab onto the device. However, it tells me that activation failed. I would go to the ttcodes.com website, but for some reason I can't find the damned product code for the maps on my tt account page (it says "product code , " instead of a number??!).
All I want to do is "unactivate" the maps somehow and then do an OTA refresh with my new product/device code. Is this possible?
To be honest, I'm a bit fed up with TomTom these days. I've spent literally hundreds of pounds on them over the past few years and upgrading on PDA is always either incredibly difficult or lags behind the TomTom hardware. If I can't get this sorted, I might just cut my losses and give ALK a new customer...

what version of Tomtom did you install?? 7.450 or 7.451
To change is easy however you can only change your device once in 6 month period. in tt find your product code - press the satellitestrength button followed by pressing on version number. In this list you will find your product code. Goto tomtom web site, log into your account and goto change my device at the bottom of the screen you can type in your new device product code. once done, you then need to download your map to tom tom home as the activation code will be different within the file. Sync your tp and all should work.
let me know if map share and traffic work. I can not get these to work.

copy the ttnavigator.BIF from the root of your memorycard to your pc and open it with Notepad.
now you can read your devicecode
have you contacted TomTom already with this problem?
also delete your map - it should then let you download a free city map if you havnt done so yet.

I've deleted the map and downloaded the freebie. Will work on work on it from both angles.
Haven't contacted TomTom yet (was hoping to avoid the pain!) but will do if I can't get anywhere.

Arrgh! It now shows the map for download on TomTom home but says "This item does not work on your device. Therefore it cannot be installed".
It obviously realises that it's not a 720 but that's what the map's for.
Have you vchanged your code on tomtom website? The map on your pc is prob still for your old device. Goto my maps on tomtom web site and re download. (move your old map to an area outside of tomtom home just incase it goes wrong. usually found under my docs/tomtom/downloads (or similar)

Just a thought - did you delete your maps from tomtom home and your pc? If not i suggest you try backing them up to CD or something, remove them and try again. I'm not sure at what point the activation code is generated - ie when you install or download. Failing this, i guess x20 maps are not compatible.
Unfortunately, if you contact tomtom, they will just tell you to go away as version 7 is not released and supported in the UK. Sorry mate, i dont know what else to suggest. I used 710 maps on my kaiser which worked fine, i guess the x20 version maps are just to different.
Delete mapname.meta.dct and reactivate or generate a new .meta.dct by using a tt8_keygen.

Guess you have a choice to either buy the correct maps or move to ALK. I have Navigator live 7 (touch diamond edition) and i was not that impressed by it. Scrolling around the map is very very slow compared to tomtom, and the traffic module is not user friendly at all and requires intervention whilst driving!. Also they use navteq for their mapping data however the latest map is about 9 - 12 months out of date, although some of the road changes that have happened in my area are more up to date. From what i understand, tomtom will be releasing version 7 at some time so you may want to hang it there. Somehow, traffic started working last night, so i am happy now!

No, you'll need Tomtom 7, which you can get from this forum. Tomtom 7 does not work with your version 6 maps, so you'll have to purchase new maps. Yes it sucks. Also, you cannot move your Tomtom services, such as Traffic, over to your TD2. This is because Tomtom refuse to support the device.
Sorry for the bad news.
Personally, I'm so pissed off with Tomtom that I'm seriously considering using something else like IGo.

the only way to run it is running it through file explorer. has anyone faced this problem too or is there a sollution to this?

Voices goes in the root directory of the SD card. Same as the maps directory.

I bought the SD-Card TomTom 7 with Europe_1GB maps (825 built 2159) offered on TomTom's website since some weeks.
Neither install, manual install, TomTom Home nor something else works.
The extracted "TomTom Navigator.exe" and also the Home app 2.6 refused to support my O2 TDII device.
Then I installed 7.910.9185 black VGA, but I was only able to download one city map. My bought Europe maps are recogniced, but rejected when I select it through menu "maps change".
How can I make use of my Product code now? Or is there any chance at all?
Please help, or send me some hints by PM.

You have to make a shortcut to windows\startmenu\programs.
You can copy the file and paste it as a shortcut to the programs folder with explorer. If you don't like the name "Shortcut ..." you can rename the shortcut to whatever you like.
If you now look at your programs than you will see your shortcut. There is also the problem of the clipped voice. You can run any audio program except Media Player with a silent audio file, then the voice clipping is gone.
You can also search for the audio problem fix. Someone has made a cab file to fix al the problems in one installation.

Had Tomtom 6 (fully legal) working fine on my Kaiser. On TD2/Topaz, whatever I do (soft,hard reset, load from different sources) I get the same 'Tomtom cannot start: memory access violation' msg. Internet search shows lots of people with same prob, but no answers or workarounds. Seems to me might be screen/display related as TT starts to load but with squashed format before hanging. Reluctant simply to buy TT7 in case a) that exhibits the same prob and TT specifically do not support the TD2/Topaz at the mo and b) some people seem to have got TT6 working fine on TD2.
Any ideas gratefully appreciated- might have to have a look at iGo as previous poster suggested, which is a shame as have used Tomtom since v2.

Although I haven't tried it myself I believe it is mainly a screen size issue, if you use the "WVGAFIX3_BY_Cotulla" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974 and change the res TT6 will work.

Has anyone had a similar issue with me, due to the fact that the only way to buy a license from them is to buy a map (which comes with the needed license). I do not need any maps from navitel since they only sell european maps..
Would I be able to use the license, say if I buy a russian map from their website, and then still use my indonesian map?

I also have older maps of african countries which i used with navitel on Windows mobile 6.5. it worked very well on that platform.
Would like to use it again on 7.8 but don't know to apply that maps.
Yes i am using custom rom, latest deepshining 7.8. After u download the app, it tells u that u can put your own map in designated folder (it tells u where exactly, so no guessing ). In your case, as long as ur phone is jailbroken, i am sure u can use ur old files.
Just try it, u can use trial license which gives u 30 days.
Now, back to my question, anyone?
