I'va just made a program which displays a large image on the top of desktop, while someone is calling, when I missed someone's call, or got text message.
This program tries to find the image with the name of Caller or Sender phone number. If this image exists it is displayed. Default notification is hidden at this moment.
Please visit www.jgui.net/mynotification/ for more details and screenshots.
Ok. I know, I know... to use this prgoram, you have to create a special image for each necessary Caller number.
It takes time, but what's the impressed effect you can get. On the above web page I've written brief desicriptions, how to make a fine picture.
This program runs and looks identically in Windows Mobile Professional and Standard (Smartphones) devices. Any screen size and orientation.
I've realized this program as free trail version for 3 days.
But you can use it all the time for free.
It will work afterward too, but it will display the image only one time per day.
(Next call or message will just display with default notifaction.)
this is displayed while someone is calling
this is displayed when you've missed someone's call
this is displayed when you've got text message
If you think, this is a good idea to collect users images, as default to universal using in this program, I will do. Please share your opinion.
I can promise to give a free registration code for creators of the best images.
(pocketgear and handango possibilities will be available on the end of upcoming weekend, if you really have to use these vampires :-( )

not that I plan to use it, but the idea is simply great

Cool...
Great Idea JGUI, Its much better than seeing that dumb symbol on the status bar when you have a missed call.
Will try it out as soon as i get home from work...screen shots might get me in trouble if i open this page again in office

Add 'Time' to the Date line on Today screen?

As per subject...
Does anyone know if it is possible to have the time displayed on the 'date line' on the today screen.
I'm aware of the reg hack for displaying both on the top menu bar and changing the date on today screen to long format.
What I want is for the Date and Time displayed on that one line on the today screen.
...or just a very BASIC 3rd party plugin that does this. All the ones that I have seen are far too big (real estate) or are the animate analog clock types etc.
Thanks.
*bump*
I searched, and you know.. it's funny, you're right, they're all fancy clocks - you'd think one of the first things somebody would develop would be a simple line on your today screen that takes the full datetime string formatting. ( The shipping one ignores time strings :| )
I can't even get my "Hello World" on the Today screen yet, so... somebody?
Perhaps one of the fine developers on here could mock up something for us?
It's doesn't 'seem' to be that hard (?)
The o2 active software includes a today applet which shows time and date. it is exactly what you want i think.
i suppose there is some way to seperate it from the o2 active package. someone did this with the o2 battery monitor applet.

Yes, that's the trick. Just need a way to freeze the plugin like the original date plugin.
Anyway thanks very much for that link.
Well, here's a post which has an O2 utility that adds the time:

Can someone make this app?

I dont know if this type of app is out in the market or even created, but i was thinking of having an app that can send a certain text message at a dessignated time. Ex: if it were someones birthday and you didnt wanna stay up till midnight you could just type the message and at 12 the message would send automatically?
Or have it send texts on people's birthdays...This is actually a nice idea...That way you'd never "forget" to tell someone. Hmm. If only I understood programming more. I'm learning.
Yeah exactly my point. I think it be a pretty badass app lol.
There's an app called tigertext for the Crapphone (Iphone) that does something similar it deleted a text messege after a certain amount of time. If someone could combine sending text mesaages at a specific time, and then being able to delete the text message at a specific time woul dbe awesome.

just attact a diy stylus on this things nose and rig some kinda timer on it to release the birds ballast at midnight.
muahahaha im a genius!
That should be a pretty easy app to make, and I'd be shocked if there's not something already in the market to do it. Have you searched the market?
Yeah, that's a really simple app to make. I could help with it as long as there's nothing like it in the market already. I'd imagine there is though. The only thing is that you'd have to run it as a service. Dunno how people would feel about that.
I'd imagine it wouldn't take up much memory though, basically how I would write it is that I would have it check your list of contacts at midnight and look for your friends that might have a birthday that day. Then if found, send them a text message at a time you establish in the settings. When the text is sent successfully, it will create a notification for you in your bar telling you that it sent your text message to your friend.
Sounds simple enough, no?

[APP][2.3+] BringList - SMS based automated bringlist

BringList
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ideasrefined.bringlist

Motivation
My Mom and wife used to send me lists of stuff to bring back home from college and work, and I often left my unread messages "Unread" till I was free. And at times, I totally missed reading them till I reached back home or missed something that was in the text but somehow forgot to bring back home.
So I came up with this simple idea of making my Android Phone do the list keeping for me. That's how "BringList" came to the android community.
BringList works by looking for Messages (SMS) starting with "bring" keyword and makes a list of items that follow separated by a "," comma.
So now if my mom/wife wants anything brought back home, she'd send me an SMS like this :
bring 2 dozen eggs, 1 pack cooking oil, few carrots and a shampoo.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and even if I am busy or not reading messages, BringList will make sure the list is maintained, and will display a notification in the status bar which will remain sticky till all the items have been cleared manually.

Download StuffMerge from Google Play
Nice app keep working guys !!
Nice idea that I often use on my PC.
Downloaded!
After watching your video it seems that we need some time to domesticate it.
Nice have been missing a clipboard manager for a while! Would it be possible to hide the overlay, and let it peek out after swiping from right to left on the border of the screen? Yes, making it require a double sweep to open fully
Kind Regards

[APP][4.0+] ProjectX: Stick to the place and have your updates

I've got an idea recently what if I want to see pictures from the places not from the person. Unfortunately I didn't find any good implementations of this simple idea. To tell the truth, I had found two projects but I found them too complicated and not really serving the simple idea Stick to the place and have your updates.
Here is how my implementation works. First, you have to subscribe to any area you want to receive notifications from:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Notice that after area is selected you'll be asked how often you wish to receive notifications from this particular area.
Basically, that's it. You may have as many subscriptions as you wish.
When new picture is made in this area you receive a notification.
In order for system to satisfy users there should be some way for the new pictures to populate the service. And this way is making one picture when user opens this application where ever he is located at the moment. Making any street view picture for the user shouldn't be a problem. Besides, it's not about art.. it's only a snapshot of what is actually surrounding you at the moment. To avoid annoyance on app start I added friendly option to skip making a picture. Obviously there are some situations when it's not convenient to make a street-view picture although user is curious to see what is this notification he received about.
Anyway, when picture is made or not you're getting an access to the map with all markers. Any new notifications will be put on map automatically and there's no need to make any new snapshots.
Also there's a way to filter markers in case you want to see only a certain markers on the map:
Get it on GooglePlay: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.project_x.pavel.myapplicationx
(SORRY IT'S NOT FORMATTED AS A LINK AS XDA-DEVELOPERS DOESN'T ALLOW TO INSERT LINKS FOR NEW MEMBERS)
Please feel welcome.
Give it a try.
