Copy my old sms from Universal to this? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Two unrelated questions:
1) Will I be able to copy my old sms'es from my Universal (through PPSPimBackup I'd suppose) to Raphael?
2) LINUX! That is my question. Will I one day be able to run linux on it? (more so than just a proof of concept, like the uni was)
Thanks for any info or thoughts.

1) you could probably use PIMBackup more effectively and for free!? (is that what you meant?)
2) Its a possibility i guess, theres been success running a kernel on several devices, its a while since ive looked but the xanadux project wiki is a good place to look?

How-to Install Cab Files??

Sorry for such a "noob" question, but how do you install "cab" files? Do you click on them when in active-sync or do you have to cut-n-paste them somewhere?
Just wondering because I wanted to install several programs in Vp's "add-on" list but not sure how? I tried clicking on one and it didn't do anything?
Just copy the cab to your device and then open your file explorer on your device, find the cab, and double click it. It's that simple
Read the wiki:

And enjoy your new toy
Moderator.... shouldn't this thread be locked? Not a WM6 related question...

Hi
U can install CAB files by two ways
1. Copy files to your device and double click
2. Download prgm CabViaSync u can directly install it form your desktop
http://www.modaco.com/Vista-WMDC-compatible-CAB-t248516.html
copy the cab file into your device itself ,that's all and double click on it on ppc
To copy it ,connect your device ,when activesync sync , u can click on explore button ,it will open ur device then just copy and paste
Where do you copy it to on the device? The Program menu? And then click on it from there?
I posted it here because I'm using WM6 although it's the same I gather with WM5. Sorry if it's in the wrong thread.
Thanks everyone. I'll try it.
Again, sorry if this is in the wrong thread.
dude, just copy it to say your storage card, go to file explorer, then to your storage card and click n it. lol..it's amazing, u know how to upgrade to WM6 but you dont know how to install a .cab file? lol .. wow.

THIS CANT BE IN THE WRONG THREAD YOU THARTED THE THREAD!! LOL
this is funny
Im not trying to be an ass to who-ever started this thread or the participants but this has to be the funniest question I have ever read on here. Why? because its a developers web site for test and mods and you made it here so far without even opening a cab file. thats like growing up, standing and getting food from the cubbards and then still not knowing how to open the fridge...i say this with humour not arrogance.
Is this thread serious or a joke?
I can't tell...
If it's serious, someone needs to gently put down the PPC and pick up a Nokia... more their speed.

Sorry man, I'm the bonehead. I make a living working on cars - not phones! And YES, I made it this far loading roms and not having to do anything with cabs!
The reason I'm wandering around the "developers" website is because I get the best answers here.
I'm sure if things were reversed, and you were rebuilding a "hemi" you *might* ask a silly question too.
So... before you work on the "hemi", don't you read the service manual first or do you just post the question hemi.mechanics.com?
I think that's why some people are flaming you for this question...
It's like saying you rebuilt the engine but you don't know how to add oil.
This reply is in no disrespect to you....

Hello. Welcome to xda-dev.
Did you by chance read the thread regarding the ROM availability?
This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319898
If you had, you would have found the following active links to the ROM:

Ok ok, they are all the same ROM. And there's 30 pages of messages about various people's experience with it. Read grasshoppa...read.

Yes to question 1.
Your guess is as good as anyone elses as far as this being the final release or not. I suspect that at a minimum the final will at least be updated to report the same version in Windows as it does in the image file. (Windows still reports it as 1.13, while the image reports as being 1.25).
You need to read every message in the two main WM6 threads before you're allowed to ask another question...you're grounded son!

oh no fun!
i hate being grounded
( you remind me of my friend brandon : p)
anyways, is there a set release date for the actual version ( or legal on i should say)
because if its sometime soon i might as well wait, but if its not. then i should just go ahead and install it.
::another question::
[hope i dont get even more grounded : /]
my treo is unlocked ( orig cingular, now unlocked and using with T-mobile)
if i install the wm6, will it erase all my settings i currently have, ( will it reset it to manufacture default? )
thanks,
and btw dad.
thanks hah : D

didnt search the forum but i think the internet is more vast then this forum and second thing i saw a pic on this site of a self edited ROM on Emulator Device
You can edit the Microsoft ROM images they provide for use in their emulators but there is no way to take a device specific file an emulate it unfortunately.

RRU For linux?

Just putting it out there.
What are the chances of an RRU that runs under linux (What about running under wine)? I don't have access to a Windows PC at work (Well not strictly true but I choose not to have a Windows desktop). Just thinking how awesome it would be if I could sit in the office, flashing my Kaiser... I doubt I'd ever meet my quarterly objectives though

I would like to use Debian with a KDE (like) UI.
What do I need and how can I do that?
Thanks

Android isn't linux. Harret is.
No linux on kaiser?
Isn't there a possibility to get Linux on the Kaiser, ofcourse completely working?
I already read the Android working (kind a)-thread and saw Android is 'only' a UI on Linux.
I saw on Debian.org that there is an ARM-package. I downloaded it, but do not know what to do with it.
And how can I get everything getting work on my Kaiser?

Android is not a special "thing" you just put anywhere and run, it has a kernel and is composed out of drivers and configurations, i'm pretty shure everething is out there but needs to be packed out together...
I'm a software developer but i have no experience compiling Android, my research is driving me to the HTC Lexikon (Merge) recently launched, this PDA hardware is very similar to the Imagio and it stock's Android so the work will be almost done and we won't need to start from "0", if you can help about please contact me..
Try this one

Try this one, this PDA holds almost the same hardware as the imagio, it deffinitely should work:

Post your results !!!
Has AnyOne tried his solution?
the lexikon is almost alike to the imagio
and if it doesnt work you can flash back.
So its a win win
i dont use whitestone.
It booted (i guess) !!

Hi, i am currently developing Android for the Imagio, i just startted the process and some tests, yesterday i was able to boot using a Topaz old testing kernel, but the screen was blank. I plan to compile a custom kernel for the Imagio.
I posted the Lexikon image but it wont work for the imagio because of the processor are different (Imagio= MSM7600) but i guess i could use some drivers from the Lexikon...
Wish me luck, i'm reading a lot to understand the kernel and Android
You can download the image i used here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/h9LTDTdp/droid_booted_imagiotar.html
And maybe, if you find the correct cmd_line arguments for HaRET you can get the screen to work properly
Glad someone is working on this. I'm right there with you! Make a thread on the imagio forum or pm me if you need testing.
