I searched the forum and saw this question being asked a couple of times, but no definate answers....
Running Dr Gonzo's WM6.1 and the contacts are not displaying. They are there, as they do display when pressing the green button to dial. How to rectify this?
Thanks
Are your contacts saved to SIM? As far as I recall, SIM contacts are hidden by default in the WM6.1 Gonzo ROM. You can enable it or better yet, save your contacts to memory so you can store more contact fields.
No it's contacts stored on the phone (restored with PIMBackup). I reflashed again and then they appear, but after a while (and setting up phone) they disappear again. Very strange indeed.
I had the same problem a couple of times - WM6.0 Neo rom - When the contacts dissappeared the phone was also running very slow - I did a hard reset and restored a backup from the day before and it was ok again.
It been ok now for a couple of weeks, so a mystery as to what happened.
As far as I can remember on both ocasions I was looking at a contact, when the phone rang. After I had taken the call I noticed I could not see the contacts - but they were still visible with the green button - maybe something got corrupted?
I've had the problem before, I just replaced the battery with a spare that I had and charged the battery and all was fine. I was running WM 6 at the time can not remember if it was the official HTC WM 6 update ROM that added extra features that the shippedROM did not have or wether it was Gonzos New Guava WM 6 ROM though.

When i recieve a sms and short after that i soft-reset my wizard the sms is not in my inbox anymore.
It happend before and sometimes its enoying that a sms has been deleted.
Does someone know why this happens??
Is there a fix for it?
I use WM6 TNT5.0 Rom on a Mda Vario(HTC Wizard).
the only time i have found that to happen when using the tnt roms was if i have not opened the sms , if i have opend the received sms it is still there after soft reset , if i havent it was deleted ,cant remember which build of rom it was that did but since i have upgraded to the black diamond rom it never happens
I have noticed this on my Herald (T-mobile Wing) as well.
Has happened on both my old SPV C500 and my new LG KS20. If I have pulled out the battery with an unread text in the inbox then it's sometimes gone afterwards. I think it's some basic bad memory handling on behalf of the OS.
They really should have fixed it by now, because it's quite annoying if you don't know who sent you a text and you for some reason have to pull out the battery (e.g. device locking up). It has happened to me a couple of times.
Hi!
I recently flashed my Xperia X1 from a custom ROM called Xion X1 to WM 6.5. Then immediately to Christer's WM 6.5.1. Of course, before this I backuped everything I could using PIM backup. After the flash I restored everything (most notably a few thousand messages), and contacts, appointments and most of it works fine.
However, when I look at my messages everything isn't as it should be. For some of my contacts only sent messages show (conversation style messaging), and for other contacts only received messages show, and for some contacts it varies in periods (for example: from Saturday I only see sent messages, and from Sunday I only see received messages).
I actually had this very problem when I installed the Xion X1 ROM, and it was solved by simply looking at the messages menu as it added the messages, just like if I just got them. Although some messages never got restored, those had no importance. I've tried this now and all that happened was that it kept using 100% CPU (I think, it was rather non-responsive) for hours and depleting half a battery even during charging (how is that even possible??).
Could this problem be due to the vast amount of messages? Is there any way to solve the problem?
I'd prefer to keep my messages because of their sentimental value.
Thanks in advance!
I re-flashed my device with Valkyrie FireStorm III, and tried restoring the messages. It's now adding messages as if I just recieved them, but it's skipping alot of messages and just inserting messages out of context.
my phone had a camera issue (screen went white when taken pic, all settings were lost and it couldnt take panoramic pics) and i hardreset to fix it
that worked , however pimbackup seems not to work 100% messages in convo mode have not imported properly any ideas?
Use Microsoft My Phone with your Windows Live Messenger account....
More simple and everything's perfect ;-)
I'll use it! Cause before I have the same problem with Pimbackup.
i have the same issue... luckily im synced with Windows MyPhone too - which got my stuff back again.
PIM worked fine when making a backup from the HTC Diamond > HD2

I find that when you restore with PIMBackup, if you restore your text messages and have the 'Conversations' option checked then you will have trouble. Rather, uncheck it and have the phone rebuild the conversations itself - takes a few minutes or so and you will have a noticeably slower device for a little while (mine is usually crawling for about 30 minutes - I generally restore around 1000 messages) but your threaded conversations will be preserved.
Also, back when I used my Polaris, I used to kill the messaging process (tmail.exe I think) and kill Manilla and then do the restore, then soft-reset, then enable Manilla again. That method always resulted in perfect restores including conversation threads (4000+ sms). I haven't had to do that with the HD2 but you could try it if you're having no luck after unchecking 'Conversations' in the Text Messages restore part of PIMBackup.
After Sprint WM 6.5 upgrade adding Facebook as "favorite contact" causes lockups
Upgraded my Sprint Touch Pro 2 to Windows Mobile 6.5 from 6.1 last week. Now when I add a linked Facebook contact to my "favorite contacts" tab the TouchFlo interface locks up. Only way to fix is to remove the contacts or not link them to Facebook.
Took me 2 times of applying the 6.5 firmware update before I was able to nail it down to linked Facebook contacts on the favorite contact tab. Now that I've figured this out I'm not using the favorite contacts feature any longer and my lockups have disappeared!
Anyone else have this problem? If so were you able to find a fix?
Tried calling Sprint on the issue but apparently the tech support guys are new to this phone also. They were going to call me back but never did. Guess I'll have to try again another day but in the meantime thought I'd hit up the XDA forum.
bump......
I am using the same Manila, but cooked ROM, and it seems to work just fine.
Works fine with my Sprint HTC TP2 WM 6.5 phone

Well, I was sure I found an error. Still continues. If I add a contact NOT linked to Facebook no problem. If I add the contact AFTER linking to Facebook it starts to lock up.
I think I'll call Sprint back again. Confused...
When you first add contacts from FB, it does lock up for a min or two depending on how many contacts you have. But once it syncs all, it should be just fine.
If nothing works, try a Hard Reset, and start over again.

I added a new FB contact today and it locked up. I gave it about 15 minutes and then gave up since it was unusable. Did a soft reset and removed the FB contact. Now all is well.
I applied the firmware update twice. The first time I loaded everything and it was locking up. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I then reloaded the firmware again and took things step-by-step until I figured out what was causing the problem.
So, with that said, I don't think a hard reset will work considering it was locking up right after the firmware upgrade.
sorry to semi-hijack this thread
does anyone know how to update the facebook integration password - i changed my password and now I can't upload photos through the HTC Sence and my contact's albums/status updates will not refresh
I do not have non-alphanumeric characters in my password
and I am using the stock sprint rom
Thanks
after use of 2-3 days when I have atleast 100 unique sms threads, when I type a line, (usually fast), characters appear very late. I don't know why is it so?
I need a fix to this and I dun wanan opt out for WM5 again coz I love threaded SMS feature. Even turning to normal view didnt help me. Even after i emptied my inbox :/
I installed nothing. Its just same stock rom as it was installed on my Phone (Tomal 7.0 through 8.5, rdosti's roms, thingonaspring's). Tomal's 7.1 stayed longest on my phone but I really got annoyed of the SMS writing lag.
Can anyone propose a fix? through another ROM / software / reg tweak?
