I'm affraid that there will not be a best ROM for a long time as everyone has different needs (software etc) that can cause bugs with other parts of a ROM and these are addressed and solved by many ways (reg, .cab, new rom versions) Your gonna have to find the best one for you and stick with it until a rom of interest surfaces for you. All the great ROM cookers and bug analysis guru's provide great detail on their posts to what version it is, whether it's a new build, what radio is included, what bugs they have addressed, what software they have put on by default plus optional.
Keep an eye on this to find your ideal rom but we all have to sacrifice something...
But i hope you find your ideal rom and give credit where credits due as these guys and girls work hard to give us what they do!!
Enjoy and be part of the solution..
Ps.
My best rom so far is oem 02.02.02. It misses a few features like automated pushmail and has a small memory leak that needs a soft-reset from time to time. But has more of what i do need. Still looking for my Ideal rom.
Happy searching and posting...

Best WM6 rom for the universal (im using mda-pro NL) is in my opinion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306552

a>
like as mentioned many times bevore, if jou want to have a ROM that is stable and no problems than you sould go back to WM 5.
WM6 is still in BETA, meaning we are all testing and experimenting.
I'm not offending you, but all of us are downloading a lot of ROMs and trying them. There is no perfect WM6, and if you spend a little time reading the forums you would allready know this answer.
There were more people who asked this question and the all got the same answer.
As said don't get me wrong but somethimes I just think the forom is getting to quick spam posts like this.
Any way, I hope you'll find a appropriated ROM that will work for you.
May i upgrade with Dutty's Official WM6.1 directly over original tilt rom 6.0?
It is better to flash with TYTN II rom before ?
Thanks

no you cant flash dutty's 6.1 over a 6.0 rom. you either need some special hardware or you need a phone that is shipped with a 6.1 rom, which does not exist yet
this specific reason is why almost nobody uses dutty's 6.1 rom at all. if you take a look in dutty's thread, you will see hundreds of post of ppl who wish that they are able to use dutty's 6.1 rom.....if you had read a little more, you would find that dutty's rom is probably one of the least popular roms around here
sorry for the wonderfulness of sarcasm, but I'm pretty new to this as I just got my Tilt a month ago and decided to customized my phone recently.... maybe I need to search more extensively through the "ROM Flashing FAQ for Newbies" thread to find out whether I can flash Dutty's new 6.1 ROM directly over my original at&t 6.0 ROM. Beside its fun, is it necessary to perform a ROM update whenever an "improved" cooked ROM is officially release or can I just find a popular tweaked out ROM and stick to it for the rest of year?

Point #1: You are not "newer" than I am. If I can do it so can you.
Point #2: It is not a maybe but a DEFINITE need for you to read more.
Point #3: Car dealers come out with updated models of cars each year. Do you NEED to buy the new model each year? Flash a ROM, if you like it keep it if not try another one. You will find that even when you find the ROM of your dreams a master chef like Dutty comes along and makes the ROM you loved feel like you are running a triathlon in chain mail.

point #1: i am newer despite the fact i joined before you. I joined in December and only browse through the forum just enough to decide if this phone is worth buying over an Iphone. in terms of flashing, I am new. Yes i can do it if you can, so encouraging of you.
point #2: Glad i found this forum, but I did not read enough to know how exactly how I can flash. i've been flashing satellite boxes for years so yes I definitely need to read more if i didn't know something so simple about flashing a ROM in a phone. I guess installling Windows Vista over XP on a desktop is no different than trying to install Mobile Windows 6.1 over 6.0 or over 5.0 DUH...i feel stupid, thanks for pointing that out
point #3: Not a good analogy, cars require monetary investment and undergo drastic changes typically every 4 years while cook ROM only your own "personal peference" and some good knowledge and understanding on how to flash. That is what i'm trying to do, I already know the procedures but if i get bash left to right by seniors just by asking one simple question in a thread i did not start, i'll go get help elsewhere.

Welcome to the wonderful world of sarcasm
Yes - you can flash Dutty's 6.1 rom (or any other 6.1) directly on a 6.0 rom.
No - you don't need to upgrade whenever a new rom comes out... only if you want to try new or better aspects of your rom, or if you become a flash addict like the rest of us.
Before you start make sure you have installed Hard SPL - if you can't get that flashed to your phone then don't go any further or you run the risk of bricking your phone.
Also, read the threads in the WIKI and all of THIS STICKY before you start. Even if some of them don't seem relevant to what you want to do they give you pointers to what can go wrong.
Lastly, when you flash, if you get problems such as no sound, camera not working, keyboard layout wrong etc do a search - most problems have been found before and can be easily resolved.

I am new to flashing roms on the Kaiser as well, but I managed to read through a handful of postings to find out the steps and files necessary. All the resources are out there and they are easy to find. Just hope that you don't have an important incoming call before you install the 6.1 radio. That happened to me. Good luck and make sure you do your homework before you start.

Hello,
Since there are so many ROMS out there and some dated as far as last year, can anyone give me advice on the fastest available ROM with least pork fat in it?
For example my only use for the Kaiser is Exchange email and web browsing nothing else. I make calls, SMS etc from my iPhone and only use this phone for exchange email. So with this in mind what advice can you guys give me as to the fastest ROM available for this?
I currently have Duttys ROM of March 8th.
Much appreciated.

I think Alex's is fast, so is Blackwood, Dutty, Panosha, Q-Mobile, Schaps, Sleuth, Vega etc, etc.
Do you know how I know this? Because I tried them all - instead of posting useless duplicate threads because I'm too damn lazy to do the work myself or my time is more valuable than yours etc.
Or, here's a tip, how about doing a search for some of the benchmarks which have been posted?
Why do people have the need to ask and not search?

As a matter of fact: I DID test your 3.03 ROM. Compared to others it wasn't that superfast, at least: according to SPB Benchmark. But than again: this test doesn't seem to be very reliable for WM 6.1.
Will also test your new ROM (OR WAS THAT A JOKE???)

This is a forum. People should be allowed to ask questions and ask the opinions of others. Some people are far to eager to do others down.
There are new ROMs coming out all the time. I have tried at least 20 since Christmas.
If he had done a search to find an answer to his question it probably would not have any relevant answers.
It is a perfectly valid question and as a member of this forum I for one do not mind answering it.
In my opinion . . . there is not much to choose between all of the 6.1 ROMs for speed. However, if you are not looking for all the whistles and bells that the Kaiser can offer, go for a Lite ROM. Certainly go for one without the Cube. If you ever intend to use video calling, go for the latest Dutty 6.1 ROM.
There, that wasn't too painful and hopefully I helped someone who asked a valid question in a public forum.

@cgjones - I agree there is too much bashing in the forum. My momma always told me that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
That being said....while this is a valid question to ask (what is the fastest ROM), it has been asked before...and not just once or twice.
This thread could have been easily avoided, or at least made a little more specific, by doing a simple search.
@raaj - use the search feature (the Google one, not the built in forum search) and type in "Kaiser fastest ROM" and you will find lots of threads, opinions, etc.

Thank You cgjones. There are too many smartasses around that post just to get their post count up and with egos I might add. For all you smartasses or rather asses I should say I have done searches but notice I ask for some particulars that would suit my needs? A search doesnt bring answers to my questions hence my question and opinions in the first place. There are FAST ROMS and there are even fast ROMS without all the junk. Thats what I wanted to know rather than do a search of the hundreds of threads here which I might add are confusing.

Hi guys,
I'm finally getting around to flashing my stock Vario III after loads of hemming and hawing, but before I do; I have a question or two for you.
1) If I go to WM6.1, can I use my Sprite Backup files to restore my installed apps? I've heard I can't, but would like to confirm.
2) As there are so many ROMs to choose from, are there any for WM6.1 that are as close as possibly to the official T-Mobile ROM my phone shipped with? My primary requirement in a new ROM is stability and usability, but I'd like it to be as fast as possible too.
3) Which pagepool size renders the best performance?
My thanks to those that may answer, and a big wet raspberry to anyone that tell me to search the forum! (I did!)

1. No. Only if you use the same rom. Use UC to install your apps. Its real easy.
2. Cant tell you that. It's a personal preference thing. Only you can answer that.
3. I like 18.
Thanks. I know 2 is mainly a personal preference thing, but I'd rather find one that's as similar to the shipped rom as I can, without all the extra trimmings that people add. Hence I was asking if there were any like that, beyond that NoFrills one.
Oh, BTW.. What's UC? Could you expand the abbreviation please?

UC us User Customization. It was developed on this site to allow people to 1-tap install all of their applications after flashing a new ROM. It works the same way as carrier customization after a hard reset.
The NoThrills ROM floating around here is quite good for someone looking for a very basic ROM so there are no unused/wasted applications on your phone. Until the Apr 09 Dutty ROM came around, I was running NoThrills since the day it came out, and was very satisfied with it.

I really do think the Wiki's and FAQ's have a lot to offer. That is how I learned to flash and customize. It seems like the hardest part(insert joke) is the first time set up stuff like Hard SPL, Jump SPL, etc. But after that you start to tweak your device more, it gets easier. Sprinkle in a little UC(User Customizations) and then your hooked. You'll start looking for and trying any and every ROM out there. I know people get annoyed when all of us say to read but it's the only way to learn and understand the stuff. It's all laid out for you, you just have to use it and soak it all in. And if you have really read and made an honest effort to learn on your own(and we can tell) lots of people here are more than willing to help, we've all been there. It's just when we read all the redundant questions that have already been answered that some get their blow torches out.

no doubt, after all the tytn II is an expensive toy and u would have a hard time justifying it to urself if u bricked it on ur first atempt. but honestly its fairly ez first u need to get hardspl and after that flash any rom for kaiser u like. i have xp so not sure about issues w/vista but if u pm me i can tell u how i did it and hopefully that will help.
also read the first sticky, everything in it, in the Kaiser rom development form it should clear up alot of hesitations.
p.s. can't include links to threads as i am at work on my tilt

Oh I've flashed my old Magician a few times... I'm not the slightest bit worried about bricking my devices either. I've read everything and am pretty confident.
No, my reason for hesitation is that I'm basically a lazy bugger and the thought of reinstalling all my apps is irritating. Besides.. With so many ROMs, it's hard to choose the one I want!
@futbolkeeper, thesire and tubaking182,
Thank you very much for the advice and support, appreciated. My idea of first-time flashing is:
Step 1. HardSPL (after data backup)
Step 2. Flash new ROM
Step 3. Flash new Radio.
Step 4. Restore data
Step 5. Install any new apps, if necessary...
Am I right here? I may do this in a short while!
ahahah.
I would be a trifle peery of your 4th bullet. You do not mean to restore data from a preexisting backup, do you? Even if you partially succeed, you can make one big mess of your "new" Kaiser. Nothing an HR could not put straight, but that defeats the purpose of restoring data in the first place, now doesn't it. (and yes, I went through that myself. Lost an hour or so for exactly zero gain)
If, however, you only mean things that PIM Backup can store, go ahead by all means! Contacts, agenda, tasks, texts - NP here.
And yes, you will end up (re)installing extra apps - if only because no-one but you can judge what is key for you. And because if you use your Kaiser as a gaming platform or a mobile library, no-one has quite the same taste as you.
Ah, and yes, your suggested order is quite correct
Thank you wyrm. That's absolutely clear, and by 'restore data' I meant PIM backup, so no problems here.
As I am typing this, I have already done the first three steps above, everything is perfect and am restoring with PIMbackup now... It has been a great experience, and am very excited...
EDIT: PIM data restored and all's well. Hope all my previous programs work well with this ROM too.
BTW, This ROM (Dutty's WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2) has a radio also inbuilt, so step 3 was redundant
Entire process took about 20 minutes flat...
I've flash so many times already, reading all about ROMs out there really convincing. So I flash and flashed on my Hermes, HP and Kaiser then only realize bugs one after another. No big deal. And it's not going to stop too.
Hard Reset

@futbolkeeper, thesire and tubaking182,
Thank you very much for the advice and support, appreciated. My idea of first-time flashing is:
Step 1. HardSPL (after data backup)
Step 2. Flash new ROM
Step 3. Flash new Radio.
Step 4. Restore data
Step 5. Install any new apps, if necessary...
Am I right here? I may do this in a short while!

ALWAYS HARD RESET AFTER YOU FLASH!!
i know it seems like a waste of time but you need to do it in order to make sure that everything from the last ROM is deleted

Thanks! Fortunately, I remembered immediately after flashing and did it... otherwise, I would have had to do so now and lose all the newly installed apps
I ve been browsing the ROMs but please advice which one is very stable and offers good/some/any video/responsiveness improvement over the original HTC ROM.
I have unlocked Kaiser II from T-mobile in the UK.

Before the flames start (and I believe they will - this question is asked too frequently), let me give you my take on this...It's like asking which flavor of ice cream is your favorite. You'll get dozens of different answers and none of them will be right and none will be wrong. Which is best for your purposes? If it's not stable, it doesn't stay around long and you'll know it by responses in the threads. There are several on the front page because they stay on the front page because people are using them and asking/responding to questions.
Spend some time in the ROM's thread determining if it meets your general needs. Then try it out for several days. If it doesn't work for you...try something else. That's how many of us got to things.
FWIW - I use HyperDragon and love it.

couldnt have said it better...
but since this thread isnt closed YET...
i tell you my favorite ice cream flavour...
G's roms (garmin) DK8 final
good luck
I have yet to try out most of the ROM's (I've only tried out a handful) but so far my favorite is Hyperdragon, because I'm a very big fan of mannilla and it comes built in... Thats just my 2 cents though
The answer is MBV Solace V.1.5 and soon the much faster Solace 2 which is in beta RC11 right now! You're gonna love it!
instead of these threads that just take up space. We should just have a simple poll that should be displayed so that everyone will have their answer.
a new thread shouldnt have even been started for this question! i've seen threads before asking this and the mods closed them! but the best annswer is test out several and then decide and before you ever start a new thread know the rules about starting one first!

I always wanted a poll when I was new to this forum...someone really should set one up
Problem is the answer changes from some people daily.
I like most of the cocked roms around here, try a few yourself, they don't hurt to try.

I've tried several now, I'd say the one I'm using now is an awesome choice and you should give it a try. Just click the 'link' in my signature below, and let the joy begin.
I agree with the general consensus.... I've been through Hyperdragon, NATF, DK8, etc, and quite a few others. You need to decide for yourself which one is best, or build your own with all the options out there. Only you know exactly what you want.
I personally like Hyperdragon, and have literally a DVD full of software for it. I don't necessarily like the TF2 or TF3 as my needs go elsewhere.
I have taken suggestions from all the threads and am working on a ROM based on what I need. Speed & audio are very important to me. Photos and Videos- Not so much
Thank You for listening

no it's not, but it should be.
I use Solace, but i'm on RC7 and it has some quirks. Going to try 13 later and see what happens.
Also, In before lock.
AthineOS
This is the best so far!!! it has speed, stability, more memory. I guess the works. I tried everyone and this one suite me. Great job!!!

Thanks
Romeos and now eOS4.888 FiRe
I've tried the a lot of the oldest ROMEOS (since 3. something) and now the -888- eOS 4.888 FiRe and I am pretty happy with it and Manilla 2D. It is VERY fast and has a great reliability. Highly recommended.
For the reasons already stated my other members, this thread is officially closed.
