I use the Navi on My diamond. But needed a new car charger. Alsmost bought one. But then I thought. It charges true USB and my Kenwood car stereo has a usb slot to read music from my 8 gig usb stick. Now i connected my diamond. My diamond asked me to optimize for active sync or storage drive. I set it to storage drive. My kenwood reads the music verry fast from my diamond (faster then from my U3 caplable 8 gig USB stick) but it also charges the battery fast.
So you people that have the USB connection on your car stereo. Try it first it saves you a copple of bugs.
Greetz.
Found out that when using TT7 Navi on it. The charging power true my USB on my car stereo is not enough. So i Bought a car charger at www.pdashop.nl under HTC DIAMOND ACCESOIRIES. Then again if you lower the screen's backlight it might still work ?
Going on vacation tomorrow. Testing TT7 on USB only with a swifft rom on it. This might do the trick cause i used the TT7 on the latest Dutch stock (battery draining) rom first. Let you guys know when I get back from vacation.

Nice solution. But: with this method you cannot play music from the Diamond on your stereo and use navigation on the Diamond at the same time. When you connect as storage drive, your Diamond can no longer access the internal storage (where the navigation data is usually stored). And I don't think your stereo will find the files on the Diamond when you use it in Activesync mode.
On the other hand: when you use a car charger you don't even have the option to play the music through the car stereo.
You have a point there
Its indead impossible to use audio and navi @ the same time when connected true USB on my car stereo.
Have to use the slower Mp3 cd for the music. Or a USB splitter to connect USB stick and charge @ the same time.
thx mate, great info
wont have to buy car charger, using sony cd changer with usb.
Cheers
Hi,
I have been using my phone as a mass storage device for my USB car stereo for a while. I have other applications on the internal storage (Diamond) which have mp3s.
Does anyone have any solutions for hiding non-music mp3s from the stereo (other than deleting!). I am getting fed up listening to ringtones etc...
Cheers
Aidan

While some might see this as a bit pointless post since it doesn't really solve the problem, I think it's good advice, not only will you be able to leave it plugged in and not have to worry about having your USB cable floating around, but it would only cost a few quid, give you more storage and solve the problem.
I suppose, if you didnt fancy buying a new usb stick, you could try setting any non music mp3 files to being hidden. I have no idea how a car stereo would react, and it may still pick them up, but its worth a try.
Your ppc will still find them, you just wont be able to see them in file explorer & im hoping that your stereo might ignore them or something.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will have a look at hiding the files.
I really like the ability to download podcasts on the move so wont be able to do that with a USB stick.
Cheers

me too. im using my car stereo to play mp3s in my pda via usb.
but i put all songs in memory card to avoid stereo from playing phone's ringtones.
btw, car stereo with a usb input is an instant charger!
Hi guys,
I think this questions was already asked for every other phone but i'm not sure if you can tranfer the answers.
basically what i would need is a scheme of the pins of the micro-usb port like in the samsung sound station dock.
i want to built an adapter (micro-usb) to usb (for charging) and 3,5mm headphone jacks (for listening to music) for my i9100.
you can also buy them but i'm not sure if they work with the i9100 aka if theres a universal standard for the pin scheme.
would i also need to put the phone into a special mode with an resistor to play music over usb?
any help is appreciated
thx in advance and best regards,
canedha
Hey guys,
Since our sony smartwatch 1 and 2 have usb slot in itself instead of having to attach another thing to charge it, is it possible to make use of it in such a way? Is it possible to view photos and other files from otg usb in smartwatch? Since it doesnt have speakers or headphone jack music will be useless And ideas? And i also hope there wasnt such thread.
Hi there,
Anyone tried with USB DAC?
I tried, I can manage my Soundblaster E5 settings, but no sound. Same with USB audio player Pro and Deezer etc.
USB option (in developer options) enables the USB sound.
Any idea?
Second issue:
Soundblaster E5 has BT/NFC connect possibility. With my old phone (Asus Zenfone 2) was able to wake up the DAC with NFC, after I touched the phone to the DAC. Huawei Mate 9 isn't able to do it.
Hi, I'm having the exact same issue with another usb dac. Did you find a solution?

I have a sound Blaster E3 and dac work as it should. USB otg must be at phone side. If you use provided otg cable on dac. It will not work. I used a small micro USB to USB C head to connect the micro USB otg cable to mate 9.

What did you set up for USB CONNECT MODE? MTP, just charge etc?
Any settings in developer settings or so?
I tried with USB male - USB C OTG cable, with SB original cable + Huawei converter micro to usb c, not worked

Not yet.
Anyone got a USB dac working? Which amp and which type c adapter/cable?
I have a Dragonfly Black and it worked perfectly with an Amazon USB-C OTG. I didn't change the setting for the connection type, it automatically identified it as a device that was a slave and supplied power to the DAC.
Mines a bone stock US model fwiw
My Mojo works fine using the USB-C to Micro adapter that came in the box of my Mate 9 Pro.
My Fiio e17 not work via otg cable

Ops. Seem like my notification not working. Sorry for some late reply. Mine do not appear any option. It certainly do if I plug it the other way around which make the dac not working but prompt the mtp and charge option.
My Fiio E17K works flawlessly with an OTG cable I found on Amazon.

I can't link but it's a:
Meenova
4.6 out of 5 stars 17 Reviews
USB Type-C-to-MicroUSB OTG Cable for connecting Camera/DAC/Media Player/Game Controller/Portable Hard drive/MIDI to Smartphone/Tablet/Computers
$7.99 USD
So I played around a bit with my S.M.S.L. idol+ today and found the following:
Neutron Music Player (Eval) works fine
USB Audio Player Pro produces loud noise, none of the USB Tweaks work, neither does Bit Perfect turned on and changing the buffer size results in the Player failing to play the songs. It doesn't make a difference if I try to play 64kb/s MP3 or 24bit FLAC..
Poweramp recognizes the DAC and seems to play but the headphones stay silent. Strange enough one time after trying some things with USB Audio Player Pro, Poweramp suddenly worked fine. I couldn't reproduce that though.
So of course I could use Neutron Player but I don't really like the interface and since I already bought USB Audio Player Pro and Poweramp and it seems to be a configuration issue, I would prefer using one of these.
So if anyone has an idea what else I could try, I would really appreciate any help
