Im starting to like the new wave of "finger friendly" applications. Applications that you can work with your finger rather than using the stylus, as much as it pains me to say this but iPhone like.
One such application is the HTC photo album application which gives a grid view of the images inside the folder.
Im wondering if theres a file system version where by i can browse folders, do simple tasks such as copy paste open delete etc all being able to use my finger, i phone style rather than using the stylus
Thanks for any info

newest Resco File Explorer is great
it does have touch scrolling embedded but not finger friendly :/
I think if you turn resco to icon view and remove some of the tool bars its nearly there, it would be cool if it loaded thumbnails of files but i think i might be asking for too much

resco 7 is excellent explorer, but i also have problems with finger scrolling (v7.02). instead of scrolling it selects files. because of this you must use hardkeys or stylus. maybe they will fix this, as this is relatively young application.
You could always use Total Commander, and set it to icon view. I've also made the scroll bars wider, so I don't ever really need the stylus. There's a few things I won't pay for, and it a file explorer .

I know it's out there, but I can't find it anymore.
What's the name of a task manager that puts icons in the system tray for each running app, and giving access to them by a simple click on them?
Tia!
Oke, I just found "True Toolbar" from ValkSoft.
It's pretty much what i was looking for.
But, are there any others?
grtz.

anyone...?
Read the whole tread. Best task Manager ever!

sort of similar would be O2 Plus which has a tray icon that you can select by scrolling down with the dpad. Once you have highlighted and selected a quick menu will pop up diplaying all the programs allow you to select one to open, or close, or the option to close all. I think this program is very useful. Compared to many other TM's its like Total Commander vs Resco. They both are very similar but one is very large while the other is small.
A programm, that puts apps on the desktop is this:
TrayLaunch.... please rename it to TrayLaunch.exe and copy it into Windows/StartMenu/Programs....no need to install.
The paths to the programs must be like this example
Add: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Office Mobile\Word Mobile.lnk
Look for Distances between words...sometimes programs are called OfficeMobile or otherwise Office Mobile and always at the end .lnk (Link), because in the StartMenu are always Links, not .exe
If you want the taskmanager with this feature, you must go to www.lakeridgesoftware.com Wisbar Advance 3 has this function. But it´s not free.
Good Luck.
Well I really like this phone. Almost everything is blazingly fast....
And the ol winmo interface is hidden almost everywere
I say Almost ... twice...
The downer form me is the Favorites of Operara, as soon as I hit the * on the bottom of
the browser, i see a slow buildup of my favorites... (Even traditional Mobile IE does a better job)
Navigating in this slow screen is also not too handy because u are used to the speed and slickyness of other screens...
Is there a tweak so I can hide this ugly favorites screen for something else that does the device Justice
You could always tap the x to minimise opera and use the bookmarks shortcut on the left softkey (assuming you were on the internet tab to start opera). Much quicker to browse than the opera favorites screen.
Yep you are right, that does look a lot better....
If i could only put this favorites screen under the star of opera....
I really don't get it that they have this ugly favorites screen ....
Intresting. I have never run into this problem of a slow Bookmarks screen. Not in Opera or even out of it.
never mind. It is a bit slow. I just never scrolled because my most my used bookmarks are at the top.
hi guys, if i want to cut and paste bookmark from my pc to the phone, which folder shall i paste into? (in the TD2 phone folder). thanks
Hello,
I bought HTC HD2 Leo. I tested it but it soon got on it's Borders by Handling.
Most actual Point is selecting Texts in Browser or Files in the Explorer or Cells in Excel:
When I want to select, this is nearly impossible because this Finger Gesture is always wrong interpretated as Scrolling Gesture, but i don't want to Scroll, I want mark Files or Cells or Text. With A Stylus this was much easyer.
Who can help me with some Addon, Tool, Programm, Idea, whatever?
I like Windows Mobile because of Compatibility and the Office Functions and the easy Copy&Paste. But now this is so unprecise, vague and difficult at the HTC Leo!
So I did'nt immagine my new Device and Proud. Sad.
What can I do to fix this?
Hot Thanks! Manuel
Just tested marking text in word mobile in a text file. The trick is, when you have a long text file with a scrollbar, to keep the screen pressed where you want to start marking text. A small icon will pop up above your finger, it looks like [T]. When you see this, move your finger to mark your text. Works like a charm.
Or you can try notepad 1.6: http://www.shamasis.net/projects/notepad-mobile/#download
To paste something in Explorer, you must scroll down to the bottom of the screen and then try to long tap the white space in between the last item in explorer and the black bar with the two soft keys.
I know that for my kaiser, there was a tweak available to make the 'Paste' item appear in any long press menu in explorer. This made it possible to paste an item even if you long pressed on another item.
I can't remember how this tweak was called. I searched a couple of times but I can't seem to find the right keywords.
Is this available for the HD2 and where can I find this tweak?
Help is greatly appreciated. I can't get my fat fingers in the small white space sometimes. Also comes in handy when drunk.
+1
would be great
dont wanna install totalcommander, just want it with integrated one.
thanks,
DN41
Or you could just open the menu and select paste from there
(menu, edit, paste - you may need to scroll the menu to get to edit)
Hey thanks for the tip!
I sometimes don't notice these scrolling menu's. In coreplayer I also forget to scroll when I look for the Blank Screen option. Then I think the option is not there enymore

Yeah - the scrollbars on menus aren't really noticable. Ah well

Very good Question! I have the same problem.
Has anyone an answer?
Please?
It's not possible in the default file explorer I'm afraid. You either want a 3rd party file explorer like total command or resco, or try the file explorer extension here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421723
I'm not sure if it does actually give you the ability to multi-select, but it's worth a look anyway
@johncmolyneux
Thank you,
but it does not work for me.
Or i don´t know how.
Is here any developer, who can make that:
-you tab and hold any file in explorer
-after one second the file will be maked
-then you have another second to begin to drive your finger over the other files you want to mark
-after your finger stops, the box pops up, where you have the choice to copy, delete,...
Is it possible to program it ???
Excuse me for my english. I hope it is understandable.

The file explorer extensions only add to the existing functionality of the app. What you're asking for is a change to what's already there. You need to start looking at 3rd party apps. Resco Explorer is probably the most popular, but it's not free. Total Commander is another popular one, and that is free. Google can point you at both of them.
Good luck mate.
Hi,
Resco Explorer works.
ThankYou.
it still is a littlebit strange in file explorer. lets say you have 3 or 4 files in your folder then its easy to select all the files because the directory isn't scrolling, but when there are too many files to show on one (portrait) page then you can't select mutiple files because the page is now scrolling. strange...
Would love to get one that I could set on a sceen to take me to the picture folder I want to view..
and or the folder where I have video's..
I want to use it for meetings.. so when I go in to one and show pictures of our production, I dont have to go in to Gallary and
let everyone see whats in there..
What would be perfect is a full screen of this widgets linking me to the sub-directries that I have setup with different artwork of different Clients..
I have been looking at different wiget programs but none have this ability as yet, well not that I have worked out..
Anyone found one or got any tips on this?

One option is to have a shortcut Folder set on your screen that launches a file manager and takes you directly to that folder.
The free app ES File Explorer will allow you to create a shortcut.
1. Install ES File Explorer.
2. Open the app and navigate to the folder you want to create as a shortcut.
3. Press & Hold on the folder, from the menu that pops up select 'Shortcut'.
4. Quit the app and when you go back to the last Home Screen you were on, providing there is enough space you will now notice a new icon with the title of the folder you selected.
From now on whenever you wish to show your clients the material simply click on the folder icon on your Home Screen and it will take you directly to ES File Explorer the folder with all the contents shown.
This last bit is important......
When you select the first item you will notice a small window will pop up asking you if you wish to choose ES File Explorer or the Gallery app to display your material... Choose ES File Explorer.
The reason is if you choose Gallery it will only display that one single item and you have to go back to ES File Explorer to show the next and so on....
By instead choosing ES File Explorer as the method to display the material it instead shows you not only the material but as the bottom you will also notice a small thumbnail of each of the pictures.
To display a different picture either swipe left/right or tap on the thumbnail.
Job done....
thanks Beards,
great advice..
I am using it plus Android picture frame.. that lets me set up 4 3x3 widgets that load into the file system as well..
plus yours.. gives me a neat screen of fast get too's for client visits..
which in my case can be up to 6-8 in a big day..
