Jargon Buster - General Topics

Okay their seems to be alot of jargon as i own a HTC diamond, anywhere that i can go on to find all the jargon busted such as SPL and all these other little things.
This is all i could find on search and really is very shallow.

In need of help.

I have just got a 8925 but i want to add some roms to it: ultimate launch, pocket cm, ifonz, & iphone interface. I am not sure of the best way to do this. Should they be added all at the same time, or do i have to add them one by one? Also i am not sure how to unlock the phone so that I can add these apps to the device. I have searched the forums and I haven't found a tutorial for this.
Any ideas?
Take a better look...
This is the first post on the ROM area.
Everything you need is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=383904
Rom's
These are not rom's ....these are programs.....Rom's ....is changing the software inside your phone...what you are asking , you can find them reading the WIKI. the programs you listed are cab. files.......read the wiki
Peace
mike
I'd go back a stage further - read lots, starting with our forum rules. Don't post the same simple question in 2 or 3 forums - it DOES get you noticed, but pisses off other members who have to read your un-researched drivel twice.

Terms and Acronyms WIKI

Hey guys, i've been following this forum for the last few weeks and i always find more and more terms that i need to investigate
terms like
fastboot
nandroid
recovery image
etc...
now don't get me wrong, i can google like the best of them, but i was wondering - is there some kind of wiki or central repository we (as first time readers) can look at whenever we are lost?
just a thought...
Every phone family on xda-developers forums has a corresponding wiki entry. Some phones do have a listing of common abbreviations, acronyms, and terms used around that phone.
Since this is probably as central a site to G1 modification as you can get, it's probably the best (only) place you'd find something like that. But it's not here (yet).
Wiki editing is open to all members. It might be a bit too much to expect those doing the bulk of the modding work to write their wiki pages as well. When you do your research and find out what the terms mean, why not try your hand at wiki editing and help out the next guy?

help on Manila 2D

Hi im searching for this Manila 2D but i cant find it i tried to so can someone nicely give me a shot cut to download it plz and .cab
And i was going to do it from hyperdragon III but i dont know how to hack im new to this and if someone can give me some help whit easier instructions it would be grate
thx and plz don't send bad messages im still new
Try using the search function above. It works well. There are lots of posts here on Manila 2D. (I'm not being mean...just practical. )
It's not so easy to find an easy way to install this if you don't know how to search or navigate on the Internet (which you should learn). Try search for manila 2D all in one cab or something and someone delete this thread?

Don't worry, you did good in posting in this section Just download the intire zip and extract to your phone. There is a readme file that instructs you how to. My advice is to download the update 14 or 15. Easy installs. There is also a skin thread to add different looks to it. Hope that helps
Before SEARCH, it's essential that you FIND YOUR PHONE

Hi, I know that 99 out of 100 people recommend SEARCH -- and it's true, search is essential. But I have found that the one most impt thing to do BEFORE search is to "FIND YOUR PHONE" here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php
Most people do not realize that when you scroll down this main page, you see specific phone models, and with each phone model, there are way more specific sets of Help Guides for how to do practically anything WITH YOUR PHONE. That's the biggest differentiator of all on this site. Incredible apps are made and people see screenshots, and want these things for THEIR phones. But sometimes they have not yet been developed for myour phone.
So I recommend: find your phone, and re-post your question about manila 2D there. I a positive someone will help you.
good luck!

Everytime someone asks a question like this, I always go to their profile to see what they have been doing to help themselves. I have got to tell you George, it reads like " I'm here, I haven't read a thing, don't even know where the search button is, now everybody help me with my phone."
" I'm searching for Manila 2D and I can't find anything " Seriously ?
At some point, George, you have to stop posting , stop starting threads,(3 new threads, in 9 posts ; I have 633 posts and only 5 threads, 2 of which were FYI threads) and start reading and searching and helping yourself.

Then after reading and understanding all this, if you have any questions, ask a specific question in the correct thread ( not, help me with my phone plzzzzzzzz........) and I personally will be glad to help.

Learning

What is GSM radio?
I did a google search & here's one of the many hits:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM
You can also read this wiki page that contains many terms used here on the forums.
They're really useful, I learned a lot from it.

[Q] searching does not work

I have just done a search for "XFJP7" and a list came up with no reffrence to XFJP7.
The first result was: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
I did a search in that thread for "XFJP7" and nothing was found.
If this site wants users to search the threads for answers then you need to fix your searching.....
You also need to make it easer to find threads users posted in......
search
hi,
Well me search bought this up :http://www.google.com/cse?q=XFJP7&s...ub-2900107662879704:fs7umqefhnf&ie=ISO-8859-1 with quite a few results.
Not being sarcastic here, but did you ever think to broaden your search field a little to get more results. for example roms, slowdowns, fixs etc?
THe information is out there, you just need to have a little patience and know how to search!
Cheers.
