Hi all,
My wife's had some weird problem on her Treo 750 just out of the blue, and I wonder if anybody's run into the same problem.
A few days ago, after editing a calender appointment, she noticed all the dates in her calender were screwed up. Events that she didn't touch, and were in months ago all of a sudden got changed to future dates. She has ADB Weather on her today menu, and all the weather icons disppear. In Resco Explorer, all the icons also disappear browsing the phone.
I figure something's corrupted on her phone, so I did a hard reset and restored to a backup that was done before we had these problems (I schedule weekly updates with Sprite Backup). I thought it'd fix all the problems. Well, surprisingly, even after hard reset and restore, all the problems were still there.
So I restored an even earlier backup, and same thing.
Has anybody ever run into this problem? Thanks in advance ...
hard reset helps.. but don't use the back ups.. it may cause the problem again..
Yeah I'm sure doing a hard reset and build from scratch helps, but given how long time it takes, that's my last resort.
I keep 10 backup files dating back to 2.5 months ago, so obviously it dates back to before this problem crept up ... thus I don't understand why when I restore the backup files, including the old backup files, I still get the problems.

just upgraded to a 2i, unlocked to all networks, put my voda card in and can send and receive texts but not calls at all, any ideas? Tried an o2 card and its just the same,
thanx
I'm not sure what to make of this, sounds like something's seriously screwed. When I unsimlocked my 2i to copy the contacts off my old Virgin sim, I made a couple of test calls and it worked fine.
The only thing I can suggest really is that you try a hard reset and a Corporate install, then unsimlock right afterwards and give it another go. If you do do that, I'm not sure if making a full backup would help, because then when you restore it if you have a registry problem which is causing the error, it'll restore the conflict too.
The last time I did a hard reset, I wanted to keep all my text messages and contacts though, so I did do a full synchronisation with Outlook to save my contacts, and I used a really sweet programme called smsOrganizer to backup all of my MMSes and SMSes. It's not _the_ most intuitive of programs, and it does require a little manual file manipulation after the reset before you restore the files (obviously), but it worked just purfick for me
I can only really suggest a hard reset, because that's the only way I know for sure to eliminate any and all problems you have which are arising from pre-existing conflicts.
I restored a backup using the Sprite Backup included with the Fuze. After restoring, the following icons are just folders: AT&T Mall, AT&T Music, Games & Apps, AT&T GPS, Tools, and Messaging. Does anyone know how I can get them back (short of a hard reset)?
Same Problem
I had the same problem the first few times I did Sprite Backup's restore.
I'm not sure what I did this last two times, but the icons are working.
The last two times after using Clear Storage, I think I used Sprite Restore immediately after all letting all the AT&T bloatware install. I did not manually initiate any soft reset before using Sprite Restore, but I did allow the phone to reset when it said it needed to reset itself.
Maybe that will work for you, let me know if it works for you too!
Well, I ended up getting the icons off another Fuze, which worked. The .icon files had been deleted for the files in question for some reason. Very weird.
Is it best to do clear storage before doing a Sprite Restore? Or does it make any difference? This is my first experience using Sprite, and I was a little nervous about it. I did a lot of rearranging of programs, deleting at least the shortcuts to many AT&T programs, etc. I don't want to lose all of that, but I'm not sure how much Sprite Restore actually restores. The icon thing made me nervous.
Hello all. I have an HTC Touch Diamond on Bell. The issue I have is quite annoying. I want to avoid a hard reset as much as possible. Basically, the problem I have is that when I delete messages, they will always reappear after a soft reset. Any messages I received between the last reset message will be deleted once a soft reset is performed. For example, I received a message on May 23rd and messages received after that are not kept once I soft reset. I found users with a similar issue here: http://www.technologyquestions.com/...general/225754-text-messages-wont-delete.html
I have tried everything. Clearing ALL text messages doesn't even work. I clear my messages, wait overnight, then in the morning, soft reset, all the messages have returned. I would appreciate any help that you can give.
PS: It does the same thing with my email. I have 2 new emails in one of my three accounts, which I delete, and then sync again. After a soft reset, they have returned along with all the other text messages. It's very frustrating!
I should also say that I am not using a cooked ROM, I'm using the stock Bell ROM. Anyone have any ideas?
I've heard of this problem before.. and to be honest, i couldn't find a solution other than hard-reseting or replacing the ROM... i'm sorry..
wm reads your pim files everytime it loads.. and apparently you have a problem erasing data from within the file.. no idea why.
wait for a couple of days to see if someone managed to solve this.. if not, i'd hard-reset.
Thank you for your reply. I did a hard reset. I just hope this problem won't return. I really don't want to do a hard reset every 2-3 months!

I flashed a cooked ROM in the past and I didn't like it at all. The time stamps on messages were way off and even when changing the time manually it would switch back.
And thanks for the MyPhone suggestion. I've been using it since April and has worked pretty good so far. I also used Dashwire which worked nicely as well.
cooked ROMs in this forum are usually fantastic. you probably just stumbled upon a sucky one. I always suggest cooked ROMs as they are faster and more useful than the official ones (to be honest, i wouldn't be surprised if HTC actually assume their official ROMs will only be used for reference applications and system packages)...
also, ALWAYS backup your data. ALWAYS!
you can use PIMBackup2.8 to backup messages/recent calls/appointments/tasks.... and SPB Backup/Sprite Backup/Resco Backup...to backup you system.
dont soft reset hold the power button until the popup appears then press yes... worked for me
If you soft-reset just in few seconds after deleting mesages, they'll appear again. They'll also appear again if you don't let time to write again the registry.
For soft-resetting, better use an app to do this, slowly. If not, take your time to power off after some minutes. Remember the message "everything you did not save will be lost" and apply it for the fact you deleted the messages but this deletion was not "saved" yet if you don't take you time.
As I stated earlier, I even waited overnight to reset, and have done it by holding down the power buttion. They would still come back. Something was corrupt and only a hard reset would fix it.
Regarding the cooked ROM, I used MightyROM before and it gave me issues.
When I slide my keyboard out my TP 2 freezes up. I have uninstalled everything that isn't stock on my TP 2, and it still feezes when I pull out the keyboard. I had this problem once on my TP 1 and it turned out to be the PIM went bad and I had to re-enter my entire contacts list. I am hoping to find a better solution this time. I am thinking it might be either Adobe FlashLite, which I can't seem to get to uninstall, or right before it quite working I used PPC PIM Backup V2.1 and Caxixi which is a Samsung game and had an SDK file withit. As far as I know everything has been uninstalled. I am accepting any ideas. Thanks in advance.
**Edit**
So I did a hard reset and it seems to have fixed whatever I had messed up. Now the only problem is I'm worried about using the backed up PIM and having the problem re-occur
I've done several Hard resets over the last few days, testing themes and sounds and a few other things. I find it easier to hard reset than to remove each item line by line, and hope nothing is left behind.
I noticed that I will do a HR, and 45 apps will be restored. If I immediately do another one, 33 might be restored. Then in another hour,, 38 might be restored. This last time, Google Maps was not restored...which I thought strange...well it was restored but only with v 5.0. Earliear in the week in restored to v5.5. A couple of apps simply did not restore...1 won't let me install again, period.
Any trick to this restore thing that I'm unawaare of? Dont tell me to root....not goingthere yet. Is this the world famous...welcome to android?
