Overview of the many roms created here and a vote for the best rom for the Universal - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Guys there are a lot of roms created by the genious minds of rom cooks here. id like everyone to share there view of the roms overview and a vote for the best rom cooked for the Universal. Sounds fun huh!

my list (sorry if I missed anyone)
ROM really depends on your needs . If the cook has put in the apps you use, go for his rom. Otherwise it takes up more space adding your own apps - or alternatively go for rDosti/B&L vanilla and add all your own.
The free memory is important to me (being a 64MB Uni owner!!), and I have recorded the free memory on a clean install with no SD card in.
I want working camera, TCMD TCPMP and Route66N7 to work properly (which likes its memory!). I don't use wkTask, but prefer QuickMenu or currently playing with Battery Status (but after making own theme with weather, this took up too much program memory, and although looked nice I decided that I needed functional and not eye candy!). Fast is also good . I also need my Blade BT headset to work with my BT GRPS mouse.
My observations (in no particular order):
Tomal 7.7 OS 19900 (19900'2), 27.8 MB free (program memory) here
-this is stable and has all apps I like *my favourite* (also has flash-disk)
EFN 2.4 OS 19588 (19900'3), 27.4 MB free here
-seems stable, need to add few apps (eg, TCMD, TCPMP), but has VC - keeping my eye on this! (more of want than need as I don't get 3G at home!)
rDosti 9 OS 19188 (19174), >33.9 MB free here
-seems stable, vanilla so need to add all apps you want (incl. Word, Excel, .NET etc). Built on my old favourite ROM from thingonaspring (below) - but with same problem. Can't get Blade (BT headset) to work
PDAVIET 2.61 OS 19949, 28.6 MB free here
-hangs occasionally, couldn't change alarms
-not a rom cooker on this forum, so feedback is useless from here!
Mo3ulla 1.5 OS 19588, 26.97 MB free here
-seems stable, but was disappointed with free program mem
Thingonaspring 41.28 OS 19188 (19174), 29.8 MB free here
-stable, excellent free memory, settings/buttons had no lock or backlight, some components getting old (TCMD) - has real VGA (if you like that sort of thing!)
-seems to have stopped cooking any more universal rom's - anyone heard from thing?
JWRights here
-no information, except was slow in dealing my cards in Patiences game
Beasty&Laurentius 2.08.01 Business here
-they also have newer test version and older FullFlavour/Vanilla versions, and were my favorite cookers
-beasty still pops back to help, and may produce newer rom, but has gone on to some wierd htc machineAdvice: pick your ROM(s), and help the cookers sort out bugs & features by encouraging them - and they can use this information with others too.
Hope this helps someone

great
thanks jonmorgan for your effort and views. come on guys more overviews will help our good rom cookers to improve their cooking by giving out your reviews of their great and effortfull work..

My vote goes for....
Ranju´s v7.6 & v7.7 definetly!
Cheers!

Ranju's 7.6 here!

Using Tomals 7.7 I must say, eaven after testing some others...
This is the best.
Its stable, fast, i love flashdisk and storage space
for this poll i Vote for Tomal/Ranju 7.7

--- Did you try 9.1 (it has extra support for BT mouse and other BT devices. I would suggest trying that and then letting me know if it doesnt work with your Blade... I believe 9.1 should fix that (the main reason i released it).

great replies guys
man you guys are great keep on helping our friends, the genius rom cookers for their hard work thank you cookers without you all we could never make the universal the way it is today. thanks all guys for their overviews.

That's one of the fastest roms or may be the FASTEST rom ever created for the Uni, and no, the free program memory after reboot is 26-27+ MB with some programs in start up on 64 MB Universal! You guys don't write some stuff before test it

Yes, I can also confirm this rom is THE FASTEST so far for universal, it is very stable and was the only rom that did not give me phone hang-ups, but because it is so vanilla I had a few issues getting some parts of phone to work...so had to switch back to 7.7 rom

Sorry, I did test it. I have now re-flashed and can report it to be 26.97 (I have edited my post).
This is strange - the total is only 46.27, where-as other ROM flashers are getting their totals much higher. I wonder if Mo3ulla got this higher, the free program memory would also go up.
I don't know how to test speed, except if my card game goes slow

Tomal is the best
I also have flashed tomal ranju's 7.7 rom and its really col and stable but what i noticed is it drains my battery very much is this normal or have i done something wrong?
anyways ranju 7.7 is the best for me.
and guys keep up the great work

Well, Ran's 7.7 is the one I like the most now as he provides me the apps I need. No wasting time to install , just up rom and use. I'm looking forward to the official release of version 8.0 from Tomal. Stable, no irritating problems though there're small problems with my EXEC, not sure whether those happen to other universals.
Cheers!

wm5
im going back to the wm5 aku3.5
my prblem is solved in sdhc driver. damn it it was sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll after all.
ryt now im sticking on video call my uni is lame w/o it.
for cooked ROM probably ranju 7.7
but i got all apps for wm6 the contol panel thing so i used rdosti clean ROM v5-v10
ill wait rdosti v15 it could be 64mb free of RAM i think. joke

nice looking:
pamquang diamond rom
cons: freezes, call slow response. sometimes shutdown automatically..
efn video call- it didnt work on mine
rdosti - lots of memory free but apps its up to you spot wer the good version is because my opera 9.5 build 405 not run on v9.1..
hey anybody cud share a files/hacks to run opera 9.5 on wm5.

That's the main point! Most people didn't try all ROMs and therefore their oppinion isn't accurate...
I've tried all, except rDosti v10 and my favorite are rDosti v9.1 (I don't use because we can't install VCall out cab) (probably the fastest) and PDAVIET 2.61 OS 19949 (the 2nd fastest ROM)!
PS: I don't have problems to set the alarm on PDAVIET's ROM!

Ranju 7.7 .......

Tried Darkforce, mu3ulla and rDosti.
rDosti is my favourite, because
- his ongoing support
- quick problem solving with new ROM
- a lot of free program memory
Only things I miss at the moment:
- Flash disk (where is it? What is it?)
- good BT support (Please leave BT enabled when connection to my GPS!)
But, hey, he's posting a new ROM every day, so maybe next week?

Hi Guys
I am currently running the Sin Merged v2.0 Windows 2003SE version of the OS on my XDAII.
What are the benifits of upgrading to the new 2005 OS?
does any one know if this version of the OS has less or more bugs then the 2003SE version I currently have?
Many thanks!
FB
Has any one tried this new update as yet and has used the older 2003SE OS, if so please could you let me know how you are finding it so far?
Is it stable?
What are the new features?
Is it worth the upgrade?
Many thanks
FB
YESS ... and with this ROM I feel littlebit faster ....
hi indra9110
Many thanks for the reply
Where you also using Sin's 2003SE ROM?
Have you noticed any problems with this the new 2005 ROM as yet?
Sorry for all the questions, I am trying to get my phone as stable as possible and have had a few issues with the original 2003 as well as 2003SE (better then original though) so I was hoping that the 2005 ROM would be even better?
Any extra details of what is included in this rom would be great as well as is it just a matter or running an EXE file and it does the rest for you? (As Sin's 2003SE rom did?)
Many thanks!
FB
TofClock has just posted his modified 2.01a ROMs (three versions with differing RAM disc sizes 0, 32 or 64) with all the fixes and tweaks identified as being needed in WM5 for the Himalaya (so far)... a few minor ones remain mainly dependent upon country, exact device etc but in the main it is receiving very good marks for speed, stability and functionality. I would certainly recommend it over WM2003SE.

Hi Mallow1
Many thanks for the reply, although I am more confused as to which one is better and what I should do now... LOL
Any idea as to what the diference is between these 2 roms?
Also do these both have support for Australian phone providers and settings?
many thanks guys!
FB
why does not many people seem to be using this ROM? Not much information about it :-(
Even the other ROM that Mallow1 seems to have a few issues.
Does this ROM have the same issues?
I'm trying to find a more stable and slightly faster ROM then the Win2003SE (Sin Merged 2.0) that I am currently using :-D
Has any one every found a rock solid ROM that works on the XDAII in Australia?
Cheers guys!
fudgebottom,
WM2003SE is not as good as WM5 (which haspersistant memory for your data so it won't get wiped when the battery goes, plus it has enhanced features over and above 2003SE in that it is the next generation up and benefits from chnages as to how users use their phoen.. too many to list but there is plenty to read in all these forums).
WM5 2.00a was adapted by BuzzLightyear from a plain vanilla official ROM (i.e. a ROM not modified to work on any specific pda platform). Buzz tweaked the basics so that it would load and run on our Himalayas, but no other mods were done to it. TofClock has then undertaken the other work needed to cutomise 2.00a to run better (faster, more stable and with less bugs). These ROMs are know as 2.01a (there are three so far each with a different split inthe memory allocation... WM2003SE allows the user to move a sliding bar to rebalance how much memory is used fro storage and how much for runnign programs. Because WM5 has persistant memory.. tis cannot be done and the allocation occurs by choising which ROM suits your needs best, 128MB RAM, 96MB RAM and 32MB "additional" storage (i.e. total still equals 128 MB), or 64MB RAM plus 64MB additional storage (the last is the one I use).
From what I've read, I think that all earlier versions of WM5 were not vanilla WWE (i.e. were in another language whichwas then translated back to English and had been originally service provider branded). All this was BuzzLighhtyear' work. WWE is World Wide English by the way. So the original ROM was then changed to work on Himalaya and bugs ironned out as best could (as we all beta reported). The last generation of these ROMs was 1.71 versions which still had various issues with their performance. In theory therefore getting hold of a vanilla ROM and modifying it for the Himalaya would therefore be the purest, cleanest route to go forward with. This is what 2.xx is based on.
WM5 2.01 versions are therefore cleaner and faster and more stable so far. If you wish to upgrade these 2.01a 128, 2.01a 96, 2.01a 64 are the best to date (Tofclock is working on further modification as these things continually update ad infinitum). Their minor bugs can be read over in Buzzdev.net where this is all documented in the posts/threads. Its easy to find... go read! The only difference between the three 2.01a versions is the memory allocation as mentioned above.
Hope you are less confused, but I have to say, read more as all you are asking is covered in these forums, wikis and related forums. Also these sites as the nme suggests are developer sites. Software is underdevelopement (beta) by definition. HTC (the makers of the XDA ii/ Himalaya, haven't released an official WM5 ROM for Himalaya, they did with WM2003SE). So if you are interested in beta work/ developement then go ahead and reflash with the WM5 ROM of your choice but there will always be somehting not 100% with the result. That's why we are all compiling the issues and tweaking ROMs.
Hope all this helps.
Kin regards - Mallow1

F.A.Q.
Guide to Seeing MAX RAM:
In order to see the below effect, after initial startup be sure to go to Settings - Home Today - remove all Home Today options. Go to Program Files and Click Oxio. You will generally see around 30MB free. Now Reboot the Device. Once it starts when you click on the Start Menu you'll see Oxio as a quick shortcut since you used it last. Click that and you'll see the max Free Ram Upto 38MB. (128/96Dpi Mode)
What is RamDisk? Why do you let me configure it?
Unlike Flashdisk, RamDisk is temporary storage. It's used to store files or temporary files and folders till you reboot. One of the most common uses of it is to store Internet Browsing History/Cookies/Temp files there, so once you reset your phone it clears up. If you don't use RAMDISK and surf the net alot, cleaning your extra useless temp files and cookies can be a nuisance. This helps you out. You can create ramdisks from 2/4MB as high as 32MB on the 64 Uni and possibly more on the 128MB uni depending upon requirement. Remember once you reset your device the files stored in the ramdisk will wipe out. Some users don't need high ram disks and some don't need them at all. Meanwhile some users do a lot of surfing and want to clear their cache/temp/traces without pains of software. This ensures that!
Guide to Get Extra Storage & RamDisk:
1) Use the attached Ext-Rom Unlock Cab to get 10 MB Additional Storage!
2) See the RAMDISK Install.txt inside Ext ROM to get your ram disk active.
Why don't you use version 19900 (or newest cores) like others?
The simplest reason is I found Thing_xx Kitchen to be stable, fast and effective. I know everyone loves seeing the latest thing, but I personally believe what is Best is what is Effective and Efficient (Stable, Fast, Secure). The latest ROM's seem to have tons of bugs and issues (probably because of quick porting and less depth analysis). I find the kitchen I use as a very stable one, and one that offers the best overall. You must also realise that the Universal was given Windows Mobile 5.0 and not 6.x! All Roms that are 6.x for the Universal are ported. As a result you might never find a perfect compatible rom for the Universal. I feel stability on any 6.x rom kitchen is important. My ROM's are aimed to be Stable, Fast & Effective (in that order).
Why is my RAM less at times?
After loading the system (bootup) , if you go to program files or settings or any other location of the device, ram is utilized immediately. Even after you exit the program folder, some of the ram is "cached" in so later attempts go faster. As a result ram may vary time to time. Our initial startup ram mentioned goes through a quick process of multiple steps and a reboot in order to remove the extra cache. Movements made after seeing the initial ram will change the amount of free ram from time to time. It is possible that if you're using the RAMDISK it will convert there.
I need help! Can You Help Me?
If you need help please email me directly at admin @ rdosti.com or add me on msn messenger: [email protected]. Otherwise feel free to use the Xda Forums for help, suggestions, etc. I can not guarantee a response or a solution. I will try to help you out if I can.
"Wow! I love your rom. I wish I could help you!"
You actually can help me in one of the 3 ways as mentioned:
1) PM or email me and become a partner (help me find cabs, test roms and do some fun testing stuff).
2) Send me an email at admin @ rdosti.com , thanking me and telling me how you loved or liked the rom. (Keeps me motivated)
3) If you can donate even a dollar or more, I would appreciate it. I can't ask for funds, but if you feel I deserve it or feel you want to thank me, this would be a great way for me to get another handset (universal or other and make more roms) (probably motivational as well). I don't drink, so I can't ask for a beer - Donations can be sent to admin @ rdosti.com (PayPal).
Instructions to Flash:
Hold "Flashlight Bulb Icon & the Power On Button" (at the same time) and using your pin/stick push the "soft reset" button. Wait till you get a screen that shows your bootloader on the bottom. I advise using the latest bootloader for your G3/G4 device.
The "bulb icon" is on the center-side of your PocketPC next (left of) the volume (up & down/left & right) key OR on the right side of the camera & speech/recorder hardware key.
The "power button" is on the top side of the Pocketpc - right next to the SDCARD/MMC card slot.
The "reset" hole/button is on the side behind the pocketpc (opposite side of the bulb icon key). The "reset" hole is the tiny hole in between the charger port and the headphone jack.
Is Your Rom 100% Safe?
No, my Rom Is NOT 100% Safe. I take no liability of any issues arising due to the flashing or trying to flash of the ROM or any of my work. There are chances things may mess up and cause issues or even "brick" or "kill" your phone.
Your phone should be SIM-Unlocked before flashing. We have used the Universal RUU (CID bypassing) in our zip, however remember all ROM's have a chance of failure or causing problems. I take no responsibility of the way by ROMs are used.

Disclaimer : It's fast,"stable"(Non crashing/freezing), and very "non--eye candy". Use/Flash ROM at your own risk. Disasters might happen. I take no responsibility for the same.

Hi!
Screenshot the ROM?
thank you i will test now but i have a qusetion why i can't find rom like TNT for kjam so nice roms ... all roms for UNI look a same maybe we dont have good cookers or what
kjam - Isnt Universal.
Univeral = Jasjar, O2 Exec, Etc.
Well the best cookers..are busy with other things
Cookers like us have to play a role now Though my main focus will be Vanilla Roms since I prefer letting the user put what he/she wants, rather than adding too many things that some people like, others done.
I have never seen a WM6 or WM6.1 ROM with 31,4Mb of RAM free. Awesome!!!

Am not too sure really honestly. You'd need to check or try it. I dont have a 128MB Universal to test out sadly. Hopefully it will , but am not totally sure.
After 2 hour's use:
It is really very fast and stable ROM. every thing working for me:
System:
1. Wi-Fi (working ).
2. Bluetooth (working ).
3. Phone ringing without delay.
4. Arabize (working ).
Software:
1. Destinator (Cool).
2. Opera Browser (cool).
3. Resco file explorer (working ).
4. Cash Organizer (working ).
Thanks dear for this nice ROM

Well look at the core this way ...
Universal by default never had WM6+.
If you look at in that perspective - WM 6.1 with any core that gives you stability and speed is better than any other core.
This is something that most people skip and forget about, because everyone feels that the latest core for OTHER devices is the best for Universal & IS INCORRECT. The truth is any core for 6.1 ported to universal is equally good - IF and ONLY if you get stability and speed.
I personally believe its better using an old core that brings you both stability and speed vs. that a new core that has complains for freezes, lack of stability and speed.
At the end of the day I found go with Stability and Speed over anything else.

[25 June] WM6.1 (WWE) 19900 Video Call BETA NOW Available (G4/G3)

Latest Update (25 June 21:07 GMT8)
Now that Beasty is offering "official" help and expertise on the VC component, we can look forward to improve the VC even further. I understand that you may encounter odd bugs while using the VCs and this is to be expected. The intention is to gather inputs for a more stable release soon. Cheers.
25 June 2008 - MAJOR Update
Version: EF 2.40 WWE WM6.1 Build 19900.1.0.3 + VC Ready Components
Pagepool 6.5MB for 64MB Unis (G4/G3)
As per advised earlier, the rom now offers Video Call option which can be enabled if you wish to use Video Telephony. BUT please consider this as a beta Release (on the VC part) because, like Beasty and Laurentius before me, I only managed to get VC running up to 70-80% with so many other possibilities unexplored. In fact after many sleepless night and red eyes, I am running out of ideas on how to get the VC build up to 100% - and with regard to this, I am sharing the very same Kitchen that I use to cook the roms with all the contents to those interested in doing further development on the VC part. The Kitchen is based on ThingsOnASpring and all credits should go to him.
Background:
The VC components have been ported over from Dopod 900 official rom 1.30 release in WM5 flavor. Apparently, our Uni will not aknowledge the later versions of Video Telephony dlls and drivers which I took from the official Athena WM6 and Tytn. I have tried all combinations to no avail (with the later version VC dlls).
Only with proper arrangement of WM5 VC Dlls, Intellidial and Camera components will the VC work properly on our Unis.
So, the end result is a forced entry of WM5 dlls into WM6.1 build. And because of this it is expected to behave somewhat oddly on certain functions (more about this later)
So how does it work:
Download the rom here:
Version: EF 2.40 WWE WM6.1 Build 19900.1.0.3 + VC Ready Components
After the first boot, to enable VC, go to Programs and click on Enable Video Call icon which will run a cab installer automatically. YOU NEED A SOFT RESET to activate the changes
IMPORTANT:
- Making a VC will trigger self dial (dial onto itself), just click answer and the dialer will continue to make the VC. Once connection is establish, if the VC interface is not shown to you, click on "Call Status" and you should see the two windows of both caller and recepient
- Ending a call or unable to establish 3G VC due to signal or other issues, the screen will show "Connected:" but do not panic, this is a small display bug and does not mean that you are connected to 3G network unecessarily
- Should the dialer pads become sluggish after a while, a soft reset may be required. But this happens very rarely.
And finally, for those interested to cook your own custom rom based on this build, please download the kithen here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?lecmcgmmmz2
The kitchen is ready to cook EF 2.40 release.
Again, thank you for your support and hope you guys will have fun beta testing the VCs. It's not perfect but at the very least provide a glimmer of hope of what to come.
PS:
If you find my handiwork to be useful and feels like buying me a drink, please PM me for Paypal ID.
UPDATE:
Video Telephony has been successfully integrated into the build I am using now.
In the next 24 hours I will be testing it extensively to see if there's any bug or issues.
We all know that previous efforts by WM6 chefs was fraught with difficulties, I expect mine to be no different. But at least the indication has been good so far. We shall see how this will fare later.
On the other hand, I may remove the inclusion of Ext Rom as usable drive due to the issue of storing email attachments.
Hope to get some good results soon.
Latest Update:
A friend of mine is using Uni G4 and he has been able to flash this rom successfully
Important UPDATE:
I just found out that my Uni is ACTUALLY A G3!. So this Rom will definitely work on all G3. Silly me, I didn't read the Wiki thoroughly enough to differetiate a G3 and G4 LOL!
If you are keen on 19900 WM6.1 in Vanilla flavors, please read on. I have just recently micgrated from O2 Xda Flame to Dopod 900 (HTC Universal) and have ever since been looking for a "stock" looking WM6.1 WWE. The readily available Vanillas seems to suffer from "excessive parts removal" to make them light and have suffered from odd behaviours on my aged G3. Since I am not new to Rom Cooking (my previous work can be found at www.xdaflameusers.com), I decided to cook my own WWE and the one I am using now seems to be quite a performer.
This ROM is build on four separate instances:
ThingsOnASpring Kitchen ->
Tomal's 7.7 19900 nk.nbf decoded and extracted ->
OEM Components deconstructed and removal of extras ->
SYS Components revised and HTC Official Kaiser WM6.1 WWE was used as filler to restore missing components ->
Reg Mods all over for performance and stability ->
Additition of minor HTC OEM components & drivers ->
Mo3ulla 2.15 (19588) nk.nbf used as target donor host ->
ThingsOnASpring XIP as the base XIP donor ->
RESULT:
EF 2.22 WWE 19900.1.0.3 Vanilla for G3 Universal (G4 not tested because mine is on G4)
Main attributes:
- Very stock looking
- 7.5MB Pagepool for 64MB Unis and FF Pagepool for 128 Unis (need someone to test this)
- Upon first boot, 40.XXMB of Storage and 26.XXMB of Memory
- Extended ROM already unlocked and ready for use - renamed as 10MB_Store. Update: I am looking into preventing clashes of SD card and Extended ROM for mail attachments
- Includes native support for both normal SD and SDHCs, SD Settings has been removed in favor of static SDHC components which will read/write both normal SD and SDHC. This has been rigorously tested with my 8GB Sandisk MicroSDHC (with SD adapter) and Kingston 4GB SDHC Class4. Both performs flawlessly tested using Windows Media Player with over 1000 songs on high bitrate MP3s. Using the old SDHC drivers, pause gaps between songs was around 5-6 seconds but now the gap has been reduced to 3-4 seconds
- Includes HTC Network Wizard for easy 3G/GPRS setup
- Grayscale BG for CommManager with all Stock features restored
- Runs perfectly with Radio 1.18
- Exchange Push Mail fully tested on 3G/GRPS - worked flawlessly
- Excellent synergy with SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 and Pocket Plus 4
- .NET CF3.5 installed and confirmed running perfectly
- Games, Transcriber, Schap VOIP, OneNote & Windows Live etc removed
- Registry cleaned of excess traces
- No FDISK/RAMDISK included for stability sake
- Proven stability with 3G/GPRS always on & Activesync in background with Microsoft DirectPush. On top of that with SPB Shell, SPB Finance, Windows Live and Pocket Plus running back to back
Downloads:
EF 2.22 19900.1.0.3 64MB Unis (Pagepool 7.5MB)
EF 2.22 19900.1.0.3 128MB Unis (Pagepool FF)
Note:
Before you flash, it's a good idea to blank out your Extended ROM to avoid complications. Default HTC Autoinstall from extended rom has been known to cause system freeze on first boot
If you are new to flashing, I highly recommend reading the Universal Wiki - the Wikis has been a great help to me when I first started over 2 weeks ago
Credits:
Of course, this has been possible due to the the hard works of Tomal, Mo3ulla, ThingsOnASpring and many more before them. They deserve all the credits where applicable.
Disclaimer:
There's always risk with cooked roms flashing. Do this at your own discretion and do it only if you are absolutely certain of your intent
Thanks & enjoy!

what I understand is "not tested on G3" which doesn't mean "not supported", the ROMS used for cooking this one are both G3/G4

Why dont u just try it? u can always revert back to your trusty old rom if failed.
Yes, the base roms used to construct this one has been known to support G3. I see no reason it should not work with a G3. BUT I have never tested this build on a G3 because I don't have one. Any takers?
Thanks
Wow, let me check this one out then i will tell you what will happen to my exec G3. Anyway, thanks a lot for a new cooking that makes me so curious.

All we need to do now is get the 128 chips. There's a lot of handphone repair shops at Lowyat plaza that can do hot blower soldering with the proper tools. Of course we will have to tell them precisely which chips to take out and what to solder in
Can you confirm how you got you email attachments to the storage card. The messaging options only sees the 10_MB storage?

DanT, thanks for the feedback. I may have made aq mistake here in this particular regard. You are right about attachments getting saved in Ext rom (10MB_Storage) instead of SD card. But no worries, I am in the process of working a fix on this. Stay tuned

Thanks buddies, ping me if you see any issues okay. I am gathering feedbacks now for an upcoming update to this version.

If you renamed the extended ROM to anything whose first letter was alphabetically greater than capital S (from "Storage Card") wouldn't do?
Just a thought...

Quick question
Does the ROM contain the RGUs?
If it does, this may be a better base for me to use with the Diamond addons, rather than Ranju's 19900 build...

The rgus are not included in the rom itself due to over 1.15MB size added if they are not deleted. But I can share the ones still in OEM & SYS of the kitchen I use. Anyway I am in the habit of modifying the output hv files (Default.hv & User.hv) directly just before cooking so the rgus may only reflect 80% of the actual mods done. If you extract this rom, just before you pkg them into SYS and OEM, grab the hv files and convert them into master rgus.

Yes I am thinking of testing this out. Thanks for the input

Hi, this rom is extremely fast, after i remove everything from the today menu, Oxios closeapps give me around 30000kb after soft rest, the storage is around 41000.
I have an occasional problem with some roms that text messages disappear after soft rest, this also occur in this rom do any one have any idea?
Only for G3 or also G4?
Good Job - Thanks
Hi, I'm Member in this Forum since 10 Days an this is my first Post. And at the first...sorry for my English.
Your Rom is realy great. It's fast, stable and clean. Much free Space at Extended- and Flash-ROM.
But i have a Problem with the Mediaplayer. There stop my MP3 after a few Second with a Error Message (Memory Problem), or he goes to the next Song after 10-15 seconds. But i will now verify this Error more exactly.
Would it be possible to make a ROM without PocketOffice and without Mediaplayer (i don't believe it, because the Sounddriver for the System of the UNI are necessary).
I like the GSPlayer for Sound and others Players for Videos. And i want to install my own PocketOffice in German Language.
After the first Installation, i had installed the CloseApps (Oxi) and Softreboot the System. I had around 32MB Free RAM, and that's GREAT.
By the Way... No Problem with Infrared and Bluetooth, works perfect (Tested with Nokia 6280, i don't have a Bluetooth Headset)
For the Moment ist this ROM my absolut Favorite. I like Tomals V8 and V7.7 too, but there are to many Programs inside which i don't needed.
In German is a excellent ROM available too, the name is "Maxstegi V5.1". You can download it as "Ready-to-use" or you can download it with a "instant" Kitchen for "selfcooking". So you can take the Application which you need, and after 5 till 10 Minutes you have cooked your own ROM (But no Flash and no Extended ROM).
Excellent ROM. I Love it
WOW!
Excellent ROM.Thanks
With an active bluetooth headset phone doesn't ring on icoming calls: sound goes only to the headset.
Won't sync with Exchange server
Hmm, I installed this ROM, but now ActiveSync won't sync with my Exchange server...

I'm the only one experiencing A2DP problems?
Best WM6 yet!
Hi!
I don't post opinions usually, but not this time. The ROM is excellent, and I haven't seen faster one yet! Everything works as expected, no memory leaks, nice new feautures in Contacts, and IT IS FAST, I've never thought that my 64mb Universal is capable of such speed! Interface lags are gone totally, free RAM is always above 20mb, and in overall, OS seems to be almost as fast as iPhone's one.
In fact, this ROM even convinced me to stay with my Universal, instead of changing it for iPhone 3G.
For those who have problems with A2DP - go to HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd and add DWORD value of Priority256=250 (decimal).
Big thanx,
Draco.
live test
I have my suspicions that sometimes a program seems to exit unexpectedly - anyone else?
Ok, I'm really putting my Uni on the line here. I am going to France for 2 weeks and then camping for another. I hope to be able to use iGo8 (I also have Route66N7 as backup), check my emails, and use the internet (Opera 9.5). And most probably play the odd game - oh yes, and use my phone on occasion
I have been using Tomal 7.7, breifly tested NNCuong for 10 days (from which this appears to be closely related), but will take Minhanhtran 2.61.51.UNI with me.
I had a little problem when iGo and fring decided to run at the same time. But I think now they seem ok, as long as only one app is running.
I just love the flash disk! Where did you get the 20.75 MB of extra memory? This is where all my installed apps are (Fring, TCPMP, CECMD, wkTask) and my messages. (Internet cache is on the transient Storage).
NNCuong gave me 31.3 MB program memory, and this ROM has 30.5 MB - both quite an achievement. But as a 64MB Uni user, trying to run memory hungry apps like iGo, every MB is important to me : ) . However I found NNCuong randomly rebooted frequently after a week - I only hope this 'feature' isn't carried forward into this ROM.

Did you manage to solve your active sync problems?
Actually I flashed another ROM and that gave me the same ActiveSync problems.
But I think I found the cause: a Diamond-like CommManager, that I installed on both ROM's.
After I removed it, the synchronization problems were gone!
Super Fast Rom
Have to agree this is a superfast and reliable rom, contary to some other posts I have not had any of the bluetooth earpiece problems, shame it did not have Voice Command included

I named my ROM 'Allmost Official', because it should appear as an official ROM, because HTC did not release the official WM6.1 indeed. Name of my ROM is same since the time I had Toshiba G900

finger keyboard not install, try tomtom but after open setup, switch off phone.
The rom it's not slow, if bug fix with 64mb it's perfect.

this rom lite version's camera application cannot start
Pretty
It looks fresh but i think the claimed 10mb of free ram is was too little.
WM6.5 still needs alot of refinement to work well on a 64mb uni. Sticking to 6.1 for now, 23mb free ram on boot, with a number of bells and whistles without being stripped down.
nice one tsalny, keep up the good work
Much better looking than prior WM6.5 versions. (What version do you call this, which start on bottom bar? WM6.51?) And like the Slide2Unlock - -wow!
I'm still testing. Have a small problem with some popup dialogs that I can't see the Ok/Cancel buttons.
Also TotalCommander doesn't quite fit well on screen. I suppose this is their programming, though.
also iGo8 doesn't work, which means I will have to go back until there is a fix.

see post here (it's on the main page XDA-Portal)
WOW!!! What an IMPRESSIVE user interface!!!!
I tried the "pro" version but it left only 3 Mb of free RAM on my 64Mb UNI
so i changed to the "lite" one, and got about 10Mb free..
At first sight, I found the device much more usable then ever before, it's the same style of UI as Iphone. very good!
some minor issue (for example, no "ok" button on some pop-ups, no MMS app...) but globally it's really a breacktrough!
I will continue using it and i'll give you deeper feedback!
By now, many many thanks and my personal congratulations for this great job!
here I am again... well the free ram isn't enough for real-life usage, i cannot have more than 2 or 3 apps open togheter, neither i can use tomtom...
i also found the interface to be unstable, maybe due to the little amount of memory, but i had to reset the device often this evening.
It would be really nice to test some kind of "vanilla" version, just to see if with 15/20 mb of Ram these problems are still there. Do you know if it's possible?
Many thanks again
PS: however the interface is really impressive!!!
