Dashwire - anyone use it? - General Topics

Hi Guys
well, I looked at Dashwire and thought that it looked great in particular, the ability to upload to facebook. Sadly though, I can't find the ability to do this, any ideas how? If not, know any apps that will instead of Dashwire?
Cheers!

Our support of facebook uploading is found on your online dashboard. Just expand the photo, click "share", then select the web tab, and then select upload to facebook. Make sure pop-up blocker is off.
If you're talking about uploading from the mobile phone itself, we don't support that yet, but we will definitely in a future mobile client update. Its an extremely important feature for us.
Hope this helps! I hope you have checked out our 2.0 client we released today.

Dashwire thoughts
I even became a fan of you guys on Facebook!
After using it for a couple of days, there are a few things I would love to see in a later release:
(I also posted this in the 'wishlist' discussion on Facebook)
*Calendar sync
*email sync
*MMS sync
*Import Bookmarks from PC browser
*Edit synced bookmarks within Dashwire
*Upload photos from PC (to use as Profile Photo)
*Delete and/or close unused Dashboard modules
*BUG: photo sync should automatically find pictures stored in folders other than 'my pictures' (it also doesn't sync photos stored in sub-directories within My Pictures folder)
Another thing I've found somewhat annoying (but not enough to discontinue using the application--yet) is that--although I know it has to run in the background in order to remain in sync with the server--whenever it begins to sync, it automatically maximizes the application, so rather than just running in the background, it pops up on the screen. I think it may be interfering with my notifications and it definitely impacts the performance of my device. Ideally, it could sync without activating the application and remain silent in the background.

I got rid of it. Took FOREVER to sync even after the first time. (I expected a long sync the first go 'round). Even then, it didnt fully sync.
I gave it a shot...didnt like it.

over it
I really wanted this to work!
I just uninstalled it though bc my device froze whenever I received a text. Also, now that it's removed, I see how dramatically the application impacts the performance of my device.
Overall, it's a great concept. I will definitely use it when the sync feature is improved and the performance issues have been addressed.

Used it for a few weeks but it used up too much memory! And as stated before, the actual syncing took forever & a decade! Again, a good concept but needs to be "lighter" so to speak

Appreciate the feedback. First, I responded to the features wishlist post on our facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=13542793986&topic=5478
Second, the long sync times recently have been caused by an increase in our new user traffic. We made a push for more users with our Mobile Client 2.0 release (engadget and lifehacker picked us up, among others) and our sync times have been slow. This should return to normal shortly.
And finally, the memory and battery depletion problems are definitely known issues. We are going to deploy new features soon that decrease the memory and battery drains that Dashwire can sometimes bring. It's at the top of our priority list.
With any major issues (like content not fully syncing), be sure to email our support ([email protected]).
Again thanks for the feedback. Our last release was fueled by users suggestions and requests. Keep posted on the new functionality of Dashwire here: http://blog.dashwire.com/

THANKS!!! I really appreciate the responsiveness! I'm totally excited about this product and I definitely will re-install the newer version on my phone. Have you been able to replicate any of the performance issues I described? The problem occurs particularly noticeably when I receive SMS's. Maybe it would be less of an issue if you allow SMS to sync on a schedule as opposed to using 'push'?

Yep try the new version. Can't really diagnois your text messaging problem without knowing more about your phone. Try to update and if its still not working email our support ([email protected]) with the problem. Scheduled sync is something we're looking into. Users ask for that feature a lot. Hopefully coming soon...

FlexMail 2007 (from WebIS/PocketInformant) sucks!

Here's a company, that releases a product last year full of bugs. They get a ton of feedback on their internal support forum as to the problems. Initially, they try to work with the users, and are fairly responsive and acknowledge many of the problems.
Over the next 6 months, they relase version after version in an effort to squelch some of the turmoil on their forum, which meanwhile grows louder and louder.
Then, late this month, they release what they refer to as Rev 2 which is supposed to be a stable product. Only problem is that it is not a stable product - after just one day of casual use, it deleted 2 of my 3 email accounts!
Meanwhile, to sell more product and hush their users, they shut down their support forum, and now moderate the posts. What a scam!
So I post this here in an effort to warn as many as I can about making the same mistake I had made when I sent them my hard earned money expecting a working product...
I didn't like the product from day 1!! I used the latest version and still sucks. The built in PIM is good enough for me.

I've used both their products "Pocket Informant" & "Flexmail" from latest releases to the Betas. From my personal experience and preference, I've always installed Flexmail, tried it out to see if the bugs were fixed, then uninstalled it again at the end. Pocket Informant really never gave me any problems and its definately a great program if you have to manage your tasks daily or have many appointments and schedules to keep up with. If you dont then the normal default PIM will do for basice scheduling.
Hhhhmmmm interesting, contradicts completely what they say at Mobility Today...

That's one of my reasons for posting my experience.
I read a couple of positive reviews of FlexMail, and based on those purchased the product without doing a thorough evaluation myself, only to find the software very unstable, and a plethora of unhappy customers...
flexmail is just a piece of junk. Installed and uninstalled for more than 10 times. Nowdays I finally give it up completely.
Discarding the source code and writing from the scratch is the only way to make this program USABLE.
Anyone knows how is Profimail in comparison to Flexmail?
http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=profimail
I would like to be able to read HTML mails on my WM2003SE
So, i decided to give flexmail a 4th try and still... do not like it!
i moved 3 emails to a different folder, opened that folder and it crashed!
Also i tried to send an email with multiple pictures attached, sent it. and guess what. none of the pictures were actually attached!
I need an email app that allows you to easily attach multiple pictures. With the built in one its a pain in the ass!

I thought QMail was extinct/not supported anymore?
I agree...it's junk
The author of this post is completely right. FlexMail is junk. Yes, the UI is beautiful, features are abound, and configuration is extremely flexible. Everything about it seems great...until you use it.
It crashes regularly, or hangs for more than a minute. Worse yet, it DELETES your accounts every time you restart your device. How this product ever made it to the public with such an enormous fault is almost unfathomable. Who wants to setup their accounts every time they use the program?
It seems to work for some people, but trust me - it's not worth the risk and frustration if you're one of the many people that it doesn't work for. Keep away.
Hmm....I haven't had such problems with the smartphone version on my 3125.
I've been using it for a long time and it seems to work great! Sure it takes a bit to load up, but it's not all that bad.
I took the liberty of installing the latest Flexmail (again lol) on my HTC P4350 (wm5) several days ago. So far so good. I also have the profimail installed as well. Although the flexmail's UI is very nice, Profimail loads quick (for me). For some reason, Profimail struggles to download my gmail, whereas Flexmail downloads my gmail with no problems.
I use Flexmail on my WM5 HTC P4000 and it works very well with my IMAP mail. I get actual push emails to my phone.
I m also using Flexmail 2007 3.1 build 1834 for about 3 days now and I thought it very good.
It certainly still has some bugs like my account settings that misteriously get modified: SOCKS proxy enabled, outgoing server deleted... but so far it really much much better than pocket outlook. at least I can:
- Have push with gmail (using IMAP IDLE)
- Have HTML mails with picture without the need to click twice on "load pictures"/display pictures
- be able to get a large chuck of each email (ie like 50ko or even the whole mail if I want)
- a lot of conf settings
the only way to get push email with PO is with a hotmail account and windows live. I ve tried this solution first (with auto forward from gmail to hotmail) but:
- impossible to load more than 30000 characters (actually the amount of text i get in each email is much lower.. and really too low.. never was able to get more). so I always ends up requesting the emails (one by one) to be downloaded completely and this is really annoying I can't just sync once and then read whatever email i get
- really annoying to have to click twice on that bar to get the pictures and more over it means you need to mark the mail to be downloaded, so you don't have the pictures from first sync
the pros for PO is that it is integrated to the OS and as such HTC home will display the number of unread mails. -> you can't do this with flexmail for now.
voila voila
Ka
This is the complaint (with details of the problems I encountered) I just sent to Flexmail
Version recently tested: Flexmail 2007 Build 1864
Device: Fujitsu-Siemens N560 (original WM5)
I have tried numerous builds of Flexmail 2007 and have yet to find one that works reliably. A trend that I notice which in the two most recent build is that upon installation to device (not to SD card), Flexmail will create files under the SD-MMCCard folder (with more subfolders and files) regardless of whether I have my SD card in my device (in which case there should be no SD-MMCCard folder to begin with). This causes the issue that upon inserting my SD card, my SD card will be recognised as SD-MMCCard2 and causes problems with ALL the links referring to programs and files normally associated with the SD-MMCCard folder.
In a separate attempt to fix this problem, I tried to install Flexmail to my SD Card so that the files and folder installed to SD-MMCCard will not conflict with my SD card. This helps for a very short period, but would eventually cause the same problem and sometimes corrupting my SD card data.
I hard reset my device and tried to install Flexmail on multiple occasions with different builds, but the problem still persits.
The directry path it creates regardless of whether my SD Card is in or not is:
SD-MMCCard\Program Files\WebIS\Mail\Data
The files created are:
Settings.ini
Settings.ini.bak
WebISMail.log
{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.vol
On the brief initial occasion when Flexmail worked, it is an excellent program. However, this critical problem affecting the functioning of my entire device has prevented me from purchasing your program. Hopefully WebIS will sort this out soon.

Well that is unfortunately a design defect in Windows Mobile, that it renames the card when you reinsert it. There is really nothing we can do about that.
We appreciate having the opportunity to help and service you. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do.

Asurion Mobile AddressBook for Android

Hello XDA,
I am one of the developers of the Asurion Mobile AddressBook and I would like to get some feedback on our product from the users here. I have been using this forum for some thine now for Winmo and respect the opinions of the developers here. It would be great to see what everyone thinks of the application. It is available in the Android Marketplace, just search Asurion. Or you can go to our site at http://www.getaddressbook.com/.
A little about AddressBook, it is a socially connected address book that allows you to get information about your contacts from different social sites like Facebook and Twitter right in the address book, through mini programs called Mixins.
Soon we will have an APK for developers to develop their own Mixins for AddressBook. When its ready I will post more information if anyone would like to beta for us.
AddressBook is still in a beta form and is available for 1.6 and 2.0 and above. Please try it out and let me know what you think. AddressBook is new and we are open to positive and negative feedback.
Thanks,
Peter
Just installed
Main app + all MixIn
It's a nice app, just a bit slow on my HTC Sapphire Magic Vodafone 32B with 2.1 Eclair Rom
I don't like "MixIn solution", why not a full app with all modules inside ?
I've launched main app, then I gone to market and installed Facebook MixIn for first.
After a lot of privacy authorization with some screen not well fitted I did a little war with Matching People, cause a lot of them were not matched nice.
I need Photos compare, cause I've some cases with two or more people with the exact name... like my cousins =)
I had some Facebook MixIn Force close Crashes and some com.google.process.gapps crashes too, right now...
I installed flickr and associate it with some of my contacts and no problems at all.
at last I tried Twitter and no probs with it...
I think it's a good app, but a bit slow...
last thing:
Support for all languages (I could translate it in Italian if you need)
I don't like number in this format 000-000-0000
or 00-000-0000
I know it's a developing app and I will wait for next releases of this.
Well Done
Good Job
This is some great feedback, thanks for taking the time to try it out and post back.
Just wondering
Is this ultimately going to be a paid application?
You know like:
5.99/mo
4.79/mo
1.99/mo
What's our deductible? :0
Haven't tried the app, but if you could spread the QR codes apart it will ease their reading.
Thanks for your app!
played with it 30mins.
1. got the main app
2. started a new a/c in www.getaddressbook.com
3. got the MixIn: Facebook
4. start the MixIn app, input Facebook a/c
5. click Allow buttons 3 times
6. MixIn starts to get contacts from FB
7. Auto Match
8. Manual adjust Auto Match results
9. Launch main app
The above steps took about 25mins (330 FB contacts; 300 gmail contacts; Auto Matched 180; manual picked out... haven't counted >_< i believe picked out 30 - 50).
Cool:
-Auto Match tried to best match FB | Local contacts even they are not perfect match.
e.g. Shirley Lam | Salei Lam (it matches)
-Facebook photos can replace local as well as sync. to Gmail Contacts
-Consolidated activities log (SMS, voice call, etc) for individual contact
Not:
-[MixIn: FB] Say you have some contacts named Peter Chan, you will get confused without some other hints like Organization.
I picked those contacts out in Auto Match to prevent mis-matching as Org is not displayed in Auto Match results
-[main app] Contact list won't remember the last viewed location.
I scrolled from top to Carol, click twice to view details, click Return and the contact list scrolls back to top.
-[main app] Slow. Maybe it's my outdated HTC Magic... (it's CyanogenMod 4.2.13 w/ EBI1 mod]
For me:
Keep and waiting for updates!
looks cool..will try this later when i get home for work..
speed is defiantely something that can be worked on.

It looks interesting but what you should definitely not miss is the T9 dialer. The way you can find contact by typing their name directly from the dialer is the only feature that makes me stay on 1.5. I tried other apps from the Market but nothing could match HTC's Sense UI dialer. If you can bring something clean similar to this I'm sold!
Another question for the community. Are there any features you are not seeing in the AddressBook that you would like to see, things that would make this app a must have?
Great work on the app. After using the app for a few days the main reason I stopped us using it was the user interface. Its not horrible but compared to everything else on the phone, it looks a bit outdated (quality wise). Other then the ui, it can be sluggish at times but nice work.

Darvo is absolutely correct. The T9 dialer is something that is sorely missing from most builds. I think it would especially appeal to stock users as well as those running cooked roms. I have been searching for a reliable answer to this outside of a Sense UI but haven't found anything that I'll stand by 100%.
Thank you .........
I appreciate your effort with AddressBook; however:
I find it extremely inappropriate and invasive that the app immediately syncs my contacts upon install to -- where? your servers?
There should be a clear warning that this is about to happen!
Please delete my data from your servers!
Also, the 'delete all' function on your site does not work, at least not with Safari. I 'moved' all to the 'delete' column on right, but clicking on 'delete selected' does nothing.
And with Chrome I couldn't even log in. Got some error about 'src' and try the support page.
I am sorry that app is frustrating you. There is a screen during setup that lets you know about the backup. This function can be turned off in the app. If you give me your user name I will delete your account from the database. The back up is meant to protect your contacts in the case that you loose your phone or get a new one. As for browser support, right now we are only supporting IE and Firefox. Again sorry the app is frustrating for you.
Great app!
I really like and appreciate this app. The 2 biggest features that drew me to waste countless hours playing w/ hero roms on my mytouch were hero's T9 dialer, and the social integration. I'll 3rd the motion for a T9 dialer in your app. No complaints otherwise. Bravo - and thanks for the great app.
P.S. Backup to server is a bit redundant in my opinion, because your contacts already sync w/ your Google acct - but, to each is own. I might be missing an advantage to it anyway. I just opted not to use it.
And props for soliciting feedback here in the forum - where the REAL users are.

Really? Because I can see in the options where to change the time and frequency of the sync, but I don't see how to disable syncing altogether. Maybe I'm just missing something?
Good catch, looks like there is a bug, you should be able to set it to not backup. We will work to get that fix in.
I have been playing around with the Hero, but I am not sure I have found the T9 dialer, what does it do?
Feedback
I've been following this app since it first arrived, and I must say bravo for doing what only HTC dared to attempt. It works well, too, except for a few things.
1. It may SEEM that scrolling smoothness isn't that important. Ask Apple, they'll tell you the truth: Its the only thing the masses give a Sh&% about, how something looks. So imitate the apple or hero contact style, because the one here is rough but needs only an easy fix! Smooth scrolling and better "sleek" colors. Same for the dialer.
2. It seems to run too often in the background, which slows my phone seemingly, no matter how often i taskiller it.
Eagerly awaiting the next release...

The Missing Sync by Mark Space - Will this fix notes bug?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here has used "The Missing Sync" by Mark Space on their Android Phone, and if so how do you find it?
in particular I'm interested to know if your contacts notes will sync properly. (Default HTC Sync cuts off after 1024 characters, truncating what goes to the phone, and then on subsequential syncs puts it back into Outlook, thus deleting the end parts of long Notes in the contacts list).
I was hoping that maybe The Missing Sync would fix this?
Cheers
Adza
1024 Characters
Hello,
The Mark/Space engineering and development teams are aware of this issue, and are looking at whether the issue is, in any way, related to hardware or device-specific constraints.
Currently, there does appear to be a limit with regard to the number of characters (as you've noted). The Missing Sync software _does_ sync the entire note, but the device cuts-off the text (except in edit mode).
Hope that helps.
-rick
Hi Rick,
Thanks for your reply. I'm currently looking for a solution to this, but looks like there's not one available at this point in time. (Short of moving to another O/S).
Thanks for your reply.
Adam.
The Missing Sync: update
Hello, our testing shows that while the device may not properly or fully display all the info, the data is unaffected, and remains intact and complete, even following a subsequent sync (back to the computer, from the device).
In fact, if you open a 'contact' in EDIT mode, you'll see all the notes/data.
Bottom line: To simplify, the 'preview' mode available on the device limits the display, but the integrity of the data is unaffected.
Make sense?

Stay away from it.
If it costs $20, then IMO it's acceptable.
But it costs $40, which is absurd considering the instabilities and lack of functionalities.
Granted, some of the problems are because of the underlying Google codes/apps. Maybe they'll correct them in future, but maybe not, who knows.
Give it a trial before giving them your credit card number.
Doesn't appear as though they offer a trial version.
I also haven't been able to find anything about a guarantee.
I've been reading up as I would purchase this if I knew it was going to do the job for me without problems, but a number of users have reported having issues and not being able to get a refund.
With the reviews I've seen, plus the fact I can't try or get a refund - I'm not keen on parting with the amount they're asking for at this point in time.
See if it works without entering a code... Doubtful through...
http://www.markspace.com/downloads.html
Again, given their track record (user ratings) (http://www.cyrket.com/search?market=android&account=Mark/Space,+Inc.) It's better to stay away from it, for now.
And do check our their forums...
http://forums.markspace.com/viewforum.php?f=34
Going off of their looong tradition of helping phones sync with macs, I tried out Missing Sync, hoping for the solution to my syncing woes.
It's... okay. As a piece of software that is multi-platform, it's understandable that you won't see some of the polish that comes with apps made specifically with Android in mind. If you've ever used BitPim before, think of Missing Sync as the lite, user-friendly version of BitPim.
My main gripe is that it prefers to use it's own tools/organization rather than the standard ones on Android. This is especially true with Notes & Calendar, which require separate apps made by the developer (I didn't try these out). Since google already owns my life (and I use SMS Backup+ to archive SMS in gmail), I found that I had more syncs turned off than on.
That was ok for me though, because the main reason I tried it was for iTunes syncing. I've tried to love doubleTwist, but it's just too slow & buggy. While Missing Sync's iTunes syncing was faster overall, it still didn't offer the syncing experience that I desired. In the end, it just wasn't worth the overhead.
While Missing Sync software can be absolutely wonderful for locked down, non-smartphones, in this day of "the cloud", it's syncing model is starting to show it's age. I'd recommend a different solution.

[APP] Executive Assistant - for anybody whose inc is an office phone too

Holy guacamole! Has anybody else seen or used this app? I am amazed - its spectacular. It is a 1 stop widget for email / calendar / tasks / sms / missed calls / voicemail / facebook / twitter / google reader.
I just downloaded and installed the free version of the app from market and various add-ons and am positively blown away. Will be buying the paid version to get rid of ads when i get home.
I have been searching for something like this for weeks and found a reference on droidforums or something like that. My stupid, stodgy, underpowered, small low res screen, bad browser, no apps, no customization blackberry can now safely be consigned to the trash can! My d-inc will be my new work phone and with this app and the widgets I have absolutely everything I needed.
A few things to note:
1. Set up took a small bit of time for me but once set up properly it is great.
2. Editing any incorrectly entered settings is confusing since the menu button keeps pulling up general phone settings. You have to click inside the widget and then press the menu button to get the app settings. They should make that better.
3. The widget app does not seem to support exchange email - just gmail including google apps and other IMAP/POP accounts such as yahoo, hotmail - you need paid accounts for those last 2 I believe. I guess for my exchange account i will use the htc widget (strangely though the app does support exchange calendars).
4. There are countless settings - spend the time to figure them out. Font size, color, background - way too many things can be changed.
5. I confused myself by using it on the lockscreen - when you switch on the screen, you dont see screen unlock - you just see a summary page of the emails / calendars etc etc. - you have to click the home button to get the slider to unlock your phone.
6. http://www.appventive.com/executive-assistant is the app site but there is not a helluva lot of info there. You are a bit on your own in figuring out the settings etc.
7. I have 2 google emails - 1 personal, 1 office g-app and of course google voice. It did not like that and would not login into all my email and voice till I entered their passwords properly instead of letting the app gather that from the device settings.
8. I have not tested battery drain yet but I suspect it will lead to some since it seems to pull the emails rather than just polling the android apps.
For anybody who wants to use their droids as work related phones - this is by far the best thing I have ever come across.
not that I'm cynical, and it does look interesting, but this post sure sounds like developer pumping his app

hahahahaha. check my other posts - u will see i am a noob tinkering around - not a dev or anything like that - probably sound too excited because i finally got an app which makes my bberry (useless junk i was forced to use since the iphone is bad too) replaceable. am a private equity guy - i know financial statements not java or whatever android is written in.
PS: there is 1 more drawback - if u try to use multiple widgets, 1 setting applies to all. So u cant have 1 widget for SMS/Twitter/Facebook and 1 for email - maybe i am doing something wrong but thats what it seemed like.

triple it, it a deal breaker for me, great idea though. would buy it if it was able to read from the exchange mailbox (i don't want yet another mailbox checking or recieving, its already downloading the email, just read that inbox?)
If anybody can recommend anything better, I would love to try that. I suggested this only because there is nothing better than this out there - at least I have not found any. Even without exchange, there is no consolidated widget for all the things in 1 screen.
I have a JB iphone 4 too and I use lockinfo (cydia app). That's the best implementation of a launchpad for various items (calendar, weather, email, missed calls, sms, voicemail, notifications, tasks, twitter) and so on... So far no such widget/app seen on the android platform. This one is close but as you can see from my comments too, its not perfect.
I have Executive Assistant and I must say it's very useful.. if you're looking for something else that also displays all information you might want to try Slidescreen and Slidescreen Pro. I'm not sure if you can read exchange mail through them but they're very clean and professional looking.. they act as a new home though.
Good find!
Checkin out the free version now, no exchange support isn't an issue for me as I don't use it, but if the rest of the app is solid and the dev has enough of a following, I think it's safe to say that exchange support can be expected down the pipeline (Here's hoping since I know a lot of folks use it!)
OK, bought full version, dude SWEET find! Been looking for something like this!

This is a new app I have written for Android that allows you to schedule uploads or downloads from your Dropbox.
For e.g. you can back up data from your device, or you can download a new playlist onto your device every morning. There are so many possibilities. Transfering data to/from your device has become so much easier.
Uses:
You create folder-pairs on your remote dropbox and your device. An upload or download is triggered at the pre-set time. In this way you can upload photos every night, or download music every morning. Or replicate your documents across all your devices.
You could set it up (with your credentials) on some one elses device to push files or updates, or retrieve data/photos etc, so it can be used for sharing common data.
The app does not do two-way syncing (which takes up far greater resources).
Features:
Custom pipes! Direct your files to where you want to!
Scheduler
File filter - Filter which files are to be transfered
Power aware - Conserves battery can run only on WiFi or when Plugged into mains
Runs in background only when needed
Notifications
Integration
Dropbox browser with Folder upload/download capabilities
Bug Reporting:
Please report sensibly with as much information as you can.
Layout issues: Please report the device name and also a screenshot if possible.
Force closes and crashes: Please report the logs and stacktrace as well.
Errors: Please report the exact error message and steps taken that produced it.
Behavior Quirks: Please report the steps taken, and what is wrong with the behaviour.
Feature requests: I will probably implement new features after all bugs are squashed, but I would like to hear your ideas.
Distrubtion and Marketing: Help for Play Store. Suggestions for better description and Search optimisation.
Please report and issues and suggestions to [email protected]

Please make sure you have a backup of any important data you cannot afford to lose.
This app requires a Dropbox account. Get it HERE
The apps
DOWNLOAD the app here
DOWNLOAD the eXTenDeD version here
Plugins to the app:
PhoneBackup:
Its a cool tool that can backup your SMS, Contacts and Call Logs. The good thing is that it backs it up as a CSV file. That way you can just open it and see all your contacts. What is every way more cooler, is that you can edit the CSV file and restore the edited data back to the phone. It is really useful, do have a look at it.

Tasker Plugin:
You need Tasker and Cloudpipes both to use it. It allows you a greater control over when you want to run your pipes. Users of tasker will already know what to do with it!

And also read about the app here: http://cloudpipes.wordpress.com
Thank you for your help and support!!!
Made some new updates:
Allow Dropbox browsing even when transfers are running
Fixed some typos and messages
Many UI enhancements, new icons!
Loving this app so far.
Well done.
Wait. I can upload music on it? I mean choose the whole album and not just a song and upload it?

Yes, you can choose a whole album. The app supports folders and sub-folders.
In fact, even if all your songs are in the same folder, you can use the file filter to filter out your music (for e.g. a filter with "Linkin*Park*.mp3")
Yesterday I fixed a few more issues I was having with 'spaces' in folder names.
Let me know if you find any more issues!
Changelog:
Ver 0.9.3 (07/07/12)
- Fix force close on login with special characters
- Fix force close on upload folder names with special characters
- Fix force close on empty folder uploads
- Fix for saving pipes
- Fix for last run information
Password security??
I posted this comment over at AndroidAuthority
This app creator had Zero other apps in the Play Store, and the webpage has no other information about the creator(s).
I previously used DropSpace, but it had become unreliable.
This app looks fantastic, exactly what I want (one-way sync), but how can I trust this person with my DropBox username and password???

I just found this thread today, so I guess one answer is "s/he is on XDA", which lends a huge amount of credibility IMHO.
Although, before this thread, the OP has only posted twice in the last year, so not exactly the most active Dev.
Is there anything else that can assuage my concerns?
I saw one of the Play Store comments mentioned "What, no OAuth??" Is this a concern?
Seriously, this app looks like almost EXACTLY what I've been hoping for. If it works, I will gladly buy a Pro version to support the Dev as soon as it's available.

Hi ScottHW,
I think I replied to your post on the Dropbox forums too. As you can see we both joined XDA one month apart, and have similar number of posts and thanks!
Anyway, the reason for not posting is that when I initially got an Android phone I started to get into modding etc so I would come to XDA for that kind of stuff. However, when I began serious development I started visiting app dev forums; thus the inactivity on XDA.
Here is my thread on my home forum: http://www.basic4ppc.com/forum/test-my-app/18970-cloudpipes-beta-testers-required.html
More than 1000 posts in one year!
I use an IDE called Basic4Android to develop my app which is super cool and easy: http://www.basic4ppc.com/index.html
Back to your concerns. This is my first app and I have learnt a lot. I might make mistakes and would happy to correct them when people point them out, but I would not knowingly steal your passwords or data and try to keep them safe.
So what are your concerns and how can I make you feel more comfortable?
Regarding this comment:
"What, no OAuth??"

Dropbox API requires to use OAuth 1.0.
See here and here.
Therefore that comment is technically inaccurate. However, since API ver 1, Dropbox requires users to login via either the official Dropbox app or a Web Browser (and then return to the app). While this increases security in that you do not need to provide your username/password to my app (I can still access all your data once you grant permission), some people find it annoying and an unnecessary step (i.e. to leave the app to authenticate and then return back).
Either way, I plan to implement both authentication methods so this may ease your concerns too.
There will be a Pro version soon with many more added features. However first I need to iron out all bugs, and so far it is looking reasonably stable.
Looks cool, I will check it out...I can't complain with over 100GB of FREE Dropbox space that I can finally use now
I don't know how I will use it, but I am going to check out the app

100 GB!!! Was that just referrals or did you win DropQuest 2012?
This means you can back up your phone all the time! However remember that the Dropbox API restricts uploads to 150 MB per file. So uploading for e.g. nandroid backups > 150 MB, or uploading large movies will fail and you may have to use the Desktop client (I dont know if the Web interface allows more than 300 MB) or a file splitter.
You can potentially put your whole music collection on Dropbox and download the albums you want only.
Let me know how you use it and if you find it useful.

I now have implemented Dropbox Authentication through the Official Dropbox app/site, so you do not need to enter your username/password in my app anymore. This should be more secure than before.
awesome, just waht i was looking for
A new version now uploaded. I hope this is crash free, I have fixed all stability issues and reported crashes!
Changelog:
Ver 0.9.8 (22/07/12)
- App now starts on boot so pipes are scheduled even on reboot
- Fixed crashes when transfers fail or are re-tried. Transfers are now retried 5 times before they fail.
Your software is great! I restate my intention to buy a Pro version as soon as it's available. Thanks for responding so rapidly by implementing alternate authentication methods.
I have several suggestions, I hope XDA is an appropriate venue for conversing.
Right away, I would request you implement Revision checking for uploading. I know that DropSpace had this capability, so it must be present in the DropBox API, even the older versions.
If I have 350 pics in my DCIM folder, and I to back them up to DropBox, which already has copies of the oldest 320, there's no need for me to re-upload all 350. It's a huge waste of bandwidth and time.
Maybe I'm using the wrong technical terms here, but that's the general idea. I'd say it's essential to an app like CloudPipes.
More suggestions to come, keep up the great work!
Hi ScottHW,
Thanks for considering using the app.
I have many suggestions coming in and they are all in the pipeline. Once I get all of the essentials, then I will move on to a Pro version.
As you said, revision checking is essential. This is my current priority and hopefully I will get an update out soon.

Fantastic work. Do you have a Buy Me a Beer or similar where I could show some appreciation and support while waiting for Pro?
I'm always happy to support a responsive Dev.

Awesome work on this app. Cloudpipes is the absolute best. Saves me countless hours and time with my Nexus 7 and the lack of external SD. I can now flash at will without ever worrying about losing data.
I would like to second the revision checking functionality. would be an awesome addition. I look forward to seeing it in a future release. I would like to add one more thing I would like to see as well. I would like the ability to exclude certian files and folders via checkbox or similar mechanism (default for new folders and files would always be on of course). But this would be extremely helpful because I do not need to backup the small directories here and there that apps automatically create (i have Titanium backup for apps & their data). While I can use the file size filter to make sure 1-2gb movies are not synced, there is no way (at least that I know of) to easily eliminate some of these smaller directories that are just causing clutter in my dropbox. I would like cloudpipes to work strictly for the data I have on my storage that I need.
Lastly I would like to see the current status of the transfer, eta at current speed, current transfer rate, all from the transfers tab of the app. I know there is a percent bar in the notification window, but I would like to see more info in app.
Otherwise awesome app... absolutely loving it and really stable, zero crashes. Would gladly pay for a PRO version!!!
edit: One small bug I just noticed. Well not really a bug but more a necessary feature improvement is the ability to refresh your main dropbox directory. I changed the name of my backup folder from "test" to something more appropriate and it seems the main window is not refreshing the dropbox and loading the new folder name.

Revision checking is coming. Its a bit more complicated that I initially thought so it will be a major update, however it will be very useful to conserving bandwidth.
Regarding exclusion, I will have to think how this will work. While the back-end implementation should not be hard, I dont know how I will ask the user to exclude folders in the UI and then store them. Nevertheless I have added it to my things to do (and it is growing!!!)
Regarding more information in the transfers tab, this is a definitely planned feature. It is quite bland and devoid of useful info right now and I plan to add many things to it. Again, this is a little far behind on my todo list as essential functionality is added first.
Finally, this bug/improvement, this is a tough one. Since you renamed it from the website or desktop app those changes are not propagate to the app until you hit refresh on that particular folder. The Dropbox API does not support to notify the app of the change and also frowns upon repeated (automated) refreshes. I could set a time-out after which to refresh the file structure, but still that will not propagate the change immediately. I dont see a better solution for this apart from the user refreshing that folder as they know they have changed it. However it seems that the official dropbox app detects this change immediately so they are polling again for the change hmmm...

Regarding this point, your update that you just pushed looks like it now includes a menu and a refresh button when viewing the dropbox. Maybe i am just dumb and missed it before. But I see it now and it fixes this!! Thanks if you did in fact add it!!

It was always there You might have missed it. Note that the menu contents and the button in the action bar change depending on which tab(Pipes/Dropbox/Transfers) you are on.
Sorry for taking so long on this update, but I wanted to make sure everything was working okay.
I have released a major update, it will take a couple of hours to ripple through the Play store.
This now includes revision checking, so only files that have been modified locally or remotely are re-transfered. If the app does not detect any change in the files then it will not be transfered.
Also just in case the Settings menu now has a trouble shooting section, with an option to 'Clear sync data'. If the app starts to mess up the transfers then you can use this option to reset the sync data, so it will start afresh.
This time I have focused quite a lot on testing, and tried to remove all weird and obscure bugs. There were many reports of the files not being accessible, probably because either the sdcard was unmounted, connected to USB or wasnt ready at boot. I tried to fix more of these cases.
There were also some minor UI tweaks here and there.
The OneWaySync option is not yet enabled. I have to do some more work on it, but should not be long.
