I have an unlocked AT&T Tilt, although I am a T-Mobile subscriber. Everything is working, except I hate the ROM that came with the phone when I bought it...I think it's a DCS rom. Anyway, I don't understand the whole thing about Radios... I would like to try Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700 ROM, but I don't think I have the right version of the Radio? Here's what my device information screen says:
ROM version: DCSv1.7-WM6.1 WWE
ROM date: 02/19/08
Radio version: 1.70.OliNex
Protocol version: 25.65.30.04H
I have checked and HardSPL is installed, but I don't see anything about my radio being compatible. Can I use Dutty's Rom? HELP!!
TIA!

A radio is the driver to some of the hardware, camera/GPS/sound etc. Usually each ROM lists atleast one compatable radio. Some ROM's flash a radio with the ROM.
If you install a ROM and it doesn't work, just use the suggested radio (or search the ROM thread, there will be suggestions in there, I'm sure) and flash that in the same way you flashed the ROM.

I see. So the radio version listed in my device information is just the version of the radio "driver" software. Thank you for your help, I think I understand now.

I'd try a new radio, I've not heard of 1.7.OliNex before.
OliNex == OliPro + cmonex, but I think that's thier polaris radio, not a kaiser one, and I have never seen anyone with it on a kaiser.
I found one post on google, someone had it on a kaiser and was having problems.

That radio is used to SIM / CID unlock your phone. You must use that radio to run Olipro's SIM / CID unlock process. It's a modified radio.

Dutty actually has two version of this ROM. One that works w/ different versions of radios. Check the Ultimate Radio Thread to see which one works with which one or check Dutty's thread concerning that specific ROM.

Don't you usually have to flash another radio after the SIM/CID unlocking ones to make your phone work again? That's the case with Jocky's anyhow?

I bought the phone unlocked like this about two months ago and it's been working (aside from some notification queue problems), so I guess not!
I think the Dutty rom includes a compatible radio, so I'm just gonna try flashing it and see what happens. I can always flash a new radio separately, right?

Correct. It's just like flashing a ROM, except you don't lose any data, settings etc. etc.

I'm currently running the first Dutty ROM 1.57.00.00 with radio version 1.27.12.11.
For a US user in a 3g (HSDPA) area, what is the best radio version to upgrade to? I've noticed that .14 is in conflict with the latest Dutty ROM (w/TouchFlo Cube beta 2). Will I also have a problem with the older Dutty version ROM as well?
Also, is there a way to upgrade the radio w/o upgrading the rest of the ROM?
Thanks in advance.
fttb radio ROM v1.27.14.09 is "joined at the hip" to the AT&T XIP/RIL of their CE OS 5.2.1622 (build 18128.0.4.4) ROM. You cannot install one without installing the other. We are looking at this however.

Hmmm, is there a way to install .12 then? Is it worth the upgrade from .11?
my opinion on radio .14
The radio 1.12.14 made me really happy! After 2 months struggling to solve the issue of "kaiser freezing after a call" this Radio solved it completely!
I was even considering selling out or retun my two kaisers before this upgrade
Thanks

Yes it does. The same thing happened to me and my Tilt. So I flashed the stock HTC rom which had the older radio on, then flashed Duttys Touchflo with Cube and it works perfect. GPS, everything is running.
So what is the best radio and rom? I want to try just the Radio.
Hello,
How or where can I download UK Orange Kaiser rom?
Thanks
Eresen
Me too!
I also could do with this if possible please? I've changed the ROM on my TyTnII recently and now I'm having SIM errors.
I went from the dodgy Orange ROM to Dutty's v4 ROM, which had no issues with SIM access (although it went dog slow, I think that was the 900+ contacts for Windows Live).
Because of the speed issue I went to the latest Sleuth ROM. That sped things up mightily but then I noticed after a while the phone would say the SIM wasn't installed. It would only come back after a power down for a while.
I went to the newest Dutty ROM in an attempt to fix things. This has also not worked.
Plan now is to get it back to the original Orange ROM and SPL so I can send it back to Orange as I thik the device is faulty.
I MAY be able to get hold of a Virgin Orange TyTnII from a colleague at work, but I'd rather not ask him if I can copy everything off his phone
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
****
For those that want to know my TyTnII specs
OS : Duttys Touch WWE v.5
Radio : 1.27.12.29
I have created a reconstructed Orange UK ROM (including splash screens) from my TyTn II before I started flashing. I have not tested this yet as I've had no need to - I'm very happy with the ROM I have and can't face re-flashing and starting again!
However, I'm more than happy to put this somewhere for you to try. As long as you have Hard SPL in place before flashing you shouldn't have any problems even if it doesn't quite work - i.e. you can always flash to another ROM if this one doesn't boot.
If after flashing my ROM all is well you can revert to the standard SPL by following the instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568. The SPL version on the Orange TyTn II is 1.81 which can be downloaded from the above article.
Once you've flashed my Orange UK ROM and then put SPL 1.81 back in place you should be back to an original state again.

I too am on Orange. Happy with my Custel v2.1 ROM (used Dutty's No.4 , No.5, TouchFlo Betas/FINAL, but find Custel to be much faster). I'd LOVE this Orange dump as a "just in case" though. Does it come with the Radio? If so which version?
Can you ask one of the Mods if this can go into the Wiki or a Sticky Thread as they do this for a lot of original manufacturer ROMs

Doesn't come with a radio - you'll need to source that separately. The version that Orange ship is 1.27.12.29, although I haven't seen anywhere to download it
Before I submit this to the Wiki and/or sticky I'd like someone to try the ROM out - I don't want to flash mine as I'm happy with it as it is and I only have one Kaiser which is in constant use. Anyone want to volunteer to give it a try?

Yeah I don't mind, though I'm not on the original Orange radio anymore. I changed it yesterday! Someone asked me for a dump of the Rafio, but I don't know how to do this. I'll ask Custel, he might know... my understanding is that you have to do this from a dump of an original manufacturer, which is what you have here forza.
If we found out how to do this, would you be willing to try doing a backup of your radio?

Dumping of the radio is not possible, the only way to obtain the radio image is from an official shipped ROM released by htc/carrier/insider on xda or the like.

OK, I've eaten my own dog food and flashed the ROM to my Kaiser - thought it only fair to try it myself.
Good news is that it all works 100%, restores splash to Orange branding and the ROM worked perfectly returning the device to it's original craptastic Orange state.

Great job forza! Ask one of the Mods to pop this in the Wiki
Downloaded and flashed. Loaded up fine, but does NOT work on Radio 1.27.14.09. It DOES work on Radio 1.27.12.17 though (tested both)
Tell you one thing though ladies and gents.... load this up again and remind yourself just HOW RUBBISH the Orange build is compared to the great work by the likes of Custel, Dutty, Sleuth, etc.. This Rom, the UI, the whole thing feels antiquated and bolted together in a rush.
So now we know we can return the phone to Orange if we break them..., Cook On!!
thanks a million
I will flash the rom once I got the RMA email from HTC
and report back on success.

The 1.27.12.29 radio isn't available - you can get the 1.27.12.17 radio though which cjkerr confirms as working with this ROM. Whilst this isn't the exact version Orange shipped with the phone, hopefully it's close enough - it will give you a working device though.
You can grab it from here; ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Kaiser/Radio/
Same process as if you were flashing any other ROM - just might take a little longer though.

Hi all,
just bought my kaiser, i was previously using blueangel so i have some idea about how to upgrade.
since i'm new to this section and been trying to access wiki but i can't, just need someone to point me to the latest or "best radio rom" so far, a link would be much appreciated.
here's my ROM info.
ROM: 1.81.415.4 WWE (original shipped ROM)
ROM date: 10/29/07
Radio Version: 1.27.15.32
Protocol Version 22.51.88.13H
thanks guys
All depends on the ROM you decide to download too...
if your going with the newest 209 or 213 rom you need a 1.65 radio but not the 1.65.17 RADIO
Matter of opinion. I am using 1.65.14.06 and love it

There are a couple of stock radios to be found on the forum. mostly 1.27.x.x
be sure to read about HardSPL.
the thing to keep in mind about radios is that wm6 radios work w/ wm6 only and wm6.1 radios work w/wm6.1 only. if u want to keep ur stock rom (wm6) than any wm6 radio will be fine. like abov poster said make sure u get hardspl first be4 u do any flashing also be careful as there are some radios that lock u meaning once u flash it u can't change it ...
unless u r security unlocked.
being new to kaiser i would highly recommend a complete read of kaiser wiki.
peace,

I ve just flash Duttys roms which has a radio 1.65.14.06
mine had 1.27.12.11 before the upgrade
do i have to flash back my radio 1.27.12.11 or doe,nt it matter, if someone can please explain
thank you

nope u don't need to .. plus it won't work as that is a wm6 radio
Thanks thesire for fast reply
one more question if i flashed a dutty`s diffent rom with a diffent radio would that make any diffence
thanks again
pretty much all of dutty's roms include a radio that is compatible with that rom and also dutty typically lists any radio that won't work with rom.
if the radio that came with rom isn't working well for u in ur region than i suggest flashing a different radio.
just beaware there is a radio out their that locks itself to ur device meaning it won't let u upgrade or downgrade from it unless u use a program by jockyw called frankenkaiser.
thanks again for fast reply thesire
Wow i did,nt know that thanks for the info just getting use to this flashing rom
if i flash another dutty rom can i just flash it over it or would i need to downgrade or not am just open to install any rom no matter what version like windows 6 and windows 6.1
thanks again

Yeah 1.65.17.10 at&t original radio aka the radio from hell... although Jocky has tamed the beast...
as long as u have hardspl flashed to ur device u can upgrade/downgrade between wm6 roms and wm6.1 roms.
just to avoid conflicts though always hard reset ur device after a rom flash.

Here's another simple question from a relative noob:
I've read so much out there about radios, but I want to try some of the new 6.1 ROMs out there but am not sure about which radios would be compatible with my AT&T Tilt. I'm currently on the 1.27.14.09 and in cowardly fashion have tried the ROMs built for this one, are there specific radios that I should be looking at that will be compatible? I saw the wiki on kaiser radios, but they don't factor in the 6.1's yet.
any info/clarification is very much appreciated.

yup, that clarified it....feel rather foolish as I'd seen and read that... so if I'm understanding the whole radio subject, of those 6.1 AT&T compatible radios, it's just a matter of finding the one that gives me 1) no issues, and 2) the best reception, etc. And this is just a matter of experimentation....
Good grief, so much to learn, so many ROMs to try.... hmmm, working from home and playing with ROMs, is it surprising that I'm having a tough time getting anything done????
Just one last question....
I switched from the AT&T 1.27 radio to the 1.65 (as noted below). Last Tuesday I sent a couple of text messages and left two voice mails and none of the txt msgs were received and the vm's took almost three days to be delivered.
Would this just be an issue of the area I was in (Denver, CO) that week (I live in Nevada) or could this be a radio issue?
Thanks for any input/insight..... I LOVE THIS PLACE!

If you are having a lot of problems dropping calls etc try going back to an official WM6 ROM.

I don't have this version. but this version is used by the main carrier's official WM6 ROM so it can't be that bad would it?
@ronin0215
I have not tried this so I am not sure if it works. But I have an idea. If you install the hard SPL from Olipro. In step 2, it writes an older radio file (I think it was 1.15 or something) onto the device. if it works then you can flash it with any version of radio you like.
