im making my own rom called BlackCore.
Ive just started and this is what it will include:
Heavy Rom:
OS - WM 6.1 Pro
Games - PocketNester, FPSECE, Mobile Mines, Chess, Solitare, FreeCell, and Kevtris
Apps -Opera mini, java, pocketRAR, BT Explorer, TouchFlo, Youtube Player, TCMP, HTC Album, Audio Manager, Total Commander, and Battery Status
Other - iContact, Slide2Unlock, and the iphone calculater. (note: not trying to make an iClone lol. As i mentioned, this is pretty much like the PointUI and i dont like using a stylus. So im making it as "touch-able" as possible and those apps are perfect for the rom)
Lite Rom:
OS - WM 6.1 Pro
Games - Original Pre-loaded games (bubble breaker, and solitare)
No apps
Now the rom im making will have be prety much just like the PointUI. I dont like using a stylus that much so im making the thing as touch sensative and touch friendly as possible. It will be released in a few weeks (balancing out summer school, a job, this project will be pretty tough) And also im going to be gone for 2-3 weeks for some military training down in Silver City, NM. So im hoping i can get it done before then. I have 2 more weeks of summer school left and then the training 2 days after. So i basically have 16 days to finish. Well, better get started.
Beta Tester's Rom:
OS - WM 6.1 Pro
Games - PocketNester, FPSECE, Mobile Mines, Chess, Solitare, FreeCell, Kevtris, Ms.Pac-Man, SPB Brain Evolution (full version), Zelda, and Metal Gear Solid Mobile (comes out on the 19th lol i will get the file free and so will you. full version too)
Apps -Opera Mobile 9.5 (build 1004), java, pocketRAR, BT Explorer, TouchFlo, Youtube Player, TCMP, HTC Album, Audio Manager, Total Commander, Battery Status, Skype, and Google Maps
Other - iContact, Slide2Unlock, and the iphone calculater. (note: not trying to make an iClone lol)
NOTE: This will include a registration key (different for all my beta testers) or a pre-registered version of it cooked on the rom. (not to sure if thats possible) You may have also noticed more stuff has been added to your rom. This is only because yours will take longer to come out. So im making yours better then the public release one. I will be making 2 versions of the beta tester's rom. This version with everything included and a lite version with the exact same thing as the lite version of the public release (just with the Mobile Shell theme style)
EDIT:
adding things to heavy rom ^__^
EDIT2:
added list for the beta testers rom
EDIT3:
Added Opera Mobile 9.5 (build 1004) to beta testers rom. Enjoy
Sounds cool. We'll try to be patient!
Wow, this sounds like a really cool rom. I wonder how Fspce will run cooked into the rom. Good Luck, looking forward to it.
if you knew vietnamese, you might be laughing at the title. Curious coincidence

we are waiting for this surprise.
In vietnamese, "midan (sp?)" means "black"

are you serious!?! thats pretty freakin weird and cool at the same time.
ok everyone, starting to make the rom this afternoon
Midian plzz if you make this ROM for low battery consumption, i am very glade to you....
Wow, sounds really great man. I can't wait to try it out! Sounds like you will include everything I normally would use!
yeah its everything i use too lol.
and i ill try to make it for low battery consum. but im not sure lol. im focusing on free space now lol.
Ahhhhhh!!!!!
im pausing the project!
i need opinions!
if you could have a theme style, would you prefer something like the Point UI thme style of SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 style?
im stuck between these two styles. Im leaning to SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 because its alot better in my opinion. Or should i make the heavy rom theme like SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 and the lite rom theme like Point UI?
and then when i get more time i can make a Point UI theme for the heavy rom and a SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 theme for the lite rom.
so confused! need opinions lol. its 11:21pm now. i got school in the morning (8am-5pm) so im gonna be very busy.
Mobile shell isnt free....so like everyone will have to buy it lol. So I guess that only leaves pointui
hahahaha mobile shell is indeed free.
just gotta know where to find a registration code if its allowed here, i will post the one i used up. Found it on yahoo answers last night
otherwise just ummmm just send me a "Personal Monkey" or something for it
yeah, see thats not allowed here. read my sig
well im a kitten killer then. lol why pay for it? lol $30.....its cheap but i can avoid spending (besides i only got $17 in my paypal lol) and i dont have any credit cards.
anyway, update:
going to add opera mini because no rom is complete without it.
well i suppose you can cook it, but we wouldn't let you post it on xda-devs because of liability stuff. you wouldn't want to get xda-devs taken down, would you?
^
omg of course i wouldnt want this site taken down!
but yeah i can see where people getting $30 free for installing a rom would be a problem lol. well......that means im gonna have to start over.....on second thought, i will continue this rom im already making.
that rom will be given to my beta testers and my beta testers ONLY. In the mean while, i will start working on a new one with a point UI style menu. That rom will be made for the public.
i suppose i should start on the new one now considering people are looking foward to it and everything. Gotta meet the supply and demand rule i suppose lol.
Well everyone, project restarting.
NOTE: to my beta testers. your rom will be made but it will be out after the public release rom. just stay patient. its gonna be worth he wait.

[ROM] [WWE] [Kaiser/Tilt] [WM 6.5.3 23614] ARIADNA v207 + LZX [ 101Mb + Chome + Greatbal Shadow Neo Skin] [colours and icons modified]
Proudly I can announce my new Ariadna ROM version for Kaiser and also for Tilt. As I told once, my ROMs are not the best. In fact, they don’t improve anything. Simply, they have the basics that I need for my usual life - there are some other specialized apps that I don't cook here. But even if those ROM’s are not good, even if they lack in lots of things, I cooked them carefully and with love.
It's based on build 23614 - this is the WM6.5.3 LG branch but it seems to work well on our Kaisers. I tested it during more than 10 days and finally today is the best moment to launch it to the World. Tilt version is not tested but the only change is in the keyboard mapping. Maybe I should change anything on the camera apps/settings.
As most of you know, I have no experience in programming or developing - my specialities are in other areas like planning, design, landscape, and environmental law. But lots of people helped me to dive into this kind of drug which is Windows Mobile and all its capabilities and I finally could cook three good ROMs.
What's inside:
No games, no Live, no Transcriber, no Welcome Center, no MS Tag, no OneNote, no Skybox neither SkyMarket.
You'll find some Office appas such as MS Office and Adobe Reader; also, MyNote, iContact and some other minor apps.
There is also the new beta of TotalCommander, compatible to the bottom bar of WM 6.5.x
And it works well with Showcase. and with the 2G patched version of the Mega phone.
25984 free kB on Slot 0
About 122 Mb on Storage, 103 free; abut 101 Mb on RAM, more than 56 free.
See the images to read the list of everything installed and see the screens.
No important issues found. Only, you must configure the hard button mappings in some cases, using the stylus and going to Settings/Personal/Buttons, because in some devices the map is missing and the device freezes when pushing on one button. And if the device is locked, you can't answer using the hard buttons, but I did not try to correct the default registry for this.
I developed it during my nights, and there are about 120 versions of this one till it booted and was shown in the way I wanted. BUT what I finally did was only choosing the correct files, editing some .provxml's and initflashfiles.dat and click on the "Cook It" button on Oskitchen.
There are no Cinderella and Princess versions because, like Jeckyll and Hyde, every girl is simultaneously a Cinderella and a Princess. And thus, this ROM takes the name of my daughter Ariadna. And her image is beside the flags of my 2 beloved countries: Catalonia and Occitania, both under foreign domination now.
Hope you enjoy it. Refer to "About Ariadna ROM" for credits to all known people in this ROM and DONATE to them if you fell it useful. Visit also www.suportalessandra.com
Support and fixes for this ROM will be limited as I have no time and no experience. But I thnk you won't need it: it's easy to use.
There won't be new versions till an important build will appear. Last version was a 23016 cooked last august.
Please read carefully the sickies about "how to flash" and the wiki.

Hi,
You say that your ROM is VOIP enabled. Can you explain what you mean by that?
Welcome new chef.... Love the blue theme....looks awesome!
Mature response and more power to you. Good luck with the project!

I (only) mean lots of ROMs are cooked without VoIP files, and then it's more difficult to reinstall them. In this one, I did not discard VoIP files.

Well, if you are looking for an innovative, revolutionary ROM for Kaiser, then you're true. Mine is not for you.
WM was made by MS guys (and girls). Builds were searched, found and downloaded, and ported, by other people, not me. Hacks like 101 Mb RAM were developed by other people, not me. Fixes were made by other people, not me. And the kitchen is made by other people, not me. So that yeah it's possible nothing is different in my ROM.
My only responsibility is having spent many hours and days during the last year searching and downloading "how-to's", wiki pages, registry explanations, and lots of CABs with fixes, utilities, tricks. My only responsibility is having mixed them in the way I found, during last year, they work better "for me". Some ones ported from a device or developed by one person; some others developed by another person. Some are older versions which I prefer to the new ones.
Today I added a cheese to my ravioli. But that kind of cheese and that ravioli were made by other people, not me. The only I did is take "that" cheese and not another one, and buy those ravioli and not other ones.
Of course, speaking about me thus is the most sincere way. I'm not a lyer, and I can't tell "this is the best ROM, developed entirely by me" 'cause I only decided which ingredients I put, but credits are, must be, to the persons who searched, ported, developed, hacked, built and shared with us.
About the names history, everyone gives a name to the things, and place an identificative image. I like to know why a ROM is called as it's called. And the circumstances are what they are, so I told thus.
That's a nice and functional ROM which needs improvements, but it works well day to day, that's what I need and what I can share till now. I'm trying to improve it testing other builds and putting/throwing some utilities or modifying the versions (i.e. Mega, Opal or Jade ported phone?) to my taste. I try to modify some PNGs to have a better view (for me). And flashing again and again (and getting stuck in bootloader, also) to improve this ROM.
But nothing if you don't want to test it. You'll find others better than this one, of course. Using less space and having better graphics/sounds. I don't force you to flash this one.

Hi Shane, it's not the first. It's the THIRD !! I began last august with builds 23009 and 23016 but I wanted to solve some things with initflashfiles.dat and some others, so that the version could be considered a good tool.
Later I burnt my computer, and with the new one I had several problems using OsKitchen (I suppose something was corrupted in the hard disk I rescued from the old PC).
Then, you know, I tried lots and lots of times to cook and flash with bad results.
This ROM is also not the first for this build, but I was "refining" it till I considered it's capable to be used by other people without getting angry with me .
Truely, I learned lots of things from your posts, cooking classes, etc.
(you'll read your name in the credits inside the ROM if you try to test it)
Thanks !!!

I only edited initflashfiles.exe and shellres.dll, and changed some colours in some PNG's or some font styles.
For the rest of the features, hard work is from lots of other people, all they working here at xda-dev's for everybody.
Glad if you give feedback. I tested during 10 days before posting it as public, so that I could be sure it works. But trere's always a bad surprise to fix.
Thank you
Request a ROM - What would you like in a ROM? (Idea by Mr. Ill)
Have you been using the ROM's on XDA frequently, but you think everyone could benefit from an application or setting cooked into a ROM? Well, the cooks will be reading this thread, and if a cook likes the idea, they will pick it up, and either feature it in their next ROM release, or create a new ROM with it.
Instead of flooding ROM threads with requests, lets just centralize them all here! Feel free to ask for anything. If you don't get a response, then maybe the cooks didn't like the idea. If you think it's a brilliant idea, and you still didn't get a response, you could ask for it again, because a cook might have missed it.
For a list of existing ROM's, visit The Wingster.
Now, if none of the ROM's fit your needs, please, go ahead and make some suggestions below!
Current Requests
Sambalbij - Extendir to be cooked into ROM, because it's supposed to make Windows Mobile 12x faster! (3 cooks have failed at this)
daniel costa rj - Brazilian and Portuguese ROM's! WM6.5 and WM6.1 versions, with Opera Mini, Bluetooth and WiFi working, and finger friendly!
donaspl - A Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM in the Polish language.
In-Progress Requests
DumpyDooby - Remote Tracker to be cooked into ROM's from now on. (Mr. Ill is working on it)
TonyC0642 - A superclean ROM with Manila 2D cooked in. Only programs would be the base WinMo apps, and Network Wizard. Bluetooth apps, Internet Sharing, Windows Media Player, Games, and Lockscreen can be removed. (Mr. Ill has built it, and is testing it with TonyC)
HolyLove02 - Newest build of WM6.5.1 and Latest version of Manila 2D. Also themed to Super Mario Bros. Needs Bluetooth, Internet Sharing, NetCF, MMS, MS Office, and other basics. Likes the "fatty" ROM's. Also including a hefty list of apps. Donating a lot!!! (Mr. Ill is working on it)
Ideas
Rim1Flex - Photoshop Mobile to be cooked in. It's a nice program.
CheeseDave - A quite complete ROM, with various things!
I use Remote Tracker on all of my phones. So my suggestion is to compile the Remote Tracker DLL into ROMs. This would be a neat addition to SJK, actually.
While there is an obvious security issue with everyone having the same Remote Tracker password, this is easily resolved by simply advising everyone to change their password immediately upon first boot. The chef could even keep the password private and only disclose it to people who PM them for it. The neat thing about doing this is it will prevent a thief from doing a hard reset on the phone to disable Remote Tracker.
(by the way, I'm well aware that the Herald doesn't have GPS, but there are other ways of tracking a phone down with Remote Tracker. You can have it forward the thief's SIM info, make it delete all of your contacts, lock access to the MicroSD, and accomplish many other things with the program that would be useful for anyone who had their phone stolen)
I was thinking about putting in Photoshop Mobile in my Roms. It's a nice program.
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/photoshopmobile/
I was trying to get extendir to work, but i'm not experienced so it wouldn't work. A stripped rom with extendir would be great (if extendir makes its expectations come true).
"Extendir is a file system filter driver that significantly increases the performance of your phone, in specific situations even up to 12 times as fast and faster…"

Yeah, I was toying around with that one too. Couldn't figure it out. I didn't spend too much time with it.
I just want a superclean rom with M2D(preferrably 2.0 or better) and that's it. The only thing I would add is Network Wizard. No google maps, no apps of any sort aside from what's there already. In fact, some things could be stripped. Like BT_SAP/BT explorer, internet sharing, WMP(Audio Mgr is better imo), games, Lock(I use s2u2). This may be my first rom, if I can ever figure out how to add packages from other roms to SJK.
i got you covered on that one Tonyc i made it last night. M2D 2.0 with audiomanager and bluetooth. 67 storage and 21 ram. the ram is lower than i want but ya lol

Couldn't figure it out either. I tried doing Extendir on my first ROM. No luck. It'd be cool though, lol.
Please Help ME get custom.
I would love a ROM that has the newest version of 6.5, and the latest version of Manila Touch Flo.I've been look'n for a Super Mario Bros. Theme for Manila TouchFlo forever!
I've googled it, found one for 3d, but not 2d. I'd love this as a all around theme intergraded throughout the UI.
As far as the nuts and bolts go, I need bluetooth, internet share, Net.CF, MMS, and internet good to go out of the box, MS Office, the basics. I'm also into some of the more "fatty" ROMS. Including:
Microsoft Facebook
Flash Player
Microsoft My Phone
Oxios Memory
My Light (or some other program that is finger friendly back light control.)
HTC Streaming Media
cichy 3000 Link Creator
Twikini (or similar twitter app.)
Evernote
Pandora
Chi-Tai Dang Second Today
Chi-Tai Dang Home Screen PlusPlus (with both, can overclock 6.5 to 299)
Smart Lock
Joel Illgen Phoney Call
Coo Tek Cooperation TouchPal
Pocket MSN
Brins0.net Tonality
SDK CommManager (or just a newer comm manager interface)
Google Maps
To anyone willing to help me get this ROM, I'll DEFINATELY DONATE A GOOD AMOUNT!
Thanks for making this thread. I'm not sure if this is the kind of response/request you're wanting, if not, I apologize, and understand if it's moved.
If anyone needs the cab files for any of these programs, I'll gladly send them to you.

Thanks Man! I appriciate it. I sadly don't know the creator of the program, but I think by far the most used program was forgotten, The XDA Shutdown program. Thank you to whoever made it! It is a God send! lol!
As for the remote tracker, i can't seem to get it to flash over. It "flashes" fine but nothing on the other end. I tried installing the cab on top of it and it won't let me (Probably because its there somewhere). This work on 6.5 right?

Yeah wow, good luck with that. That's so bloated I don't think it could physically fit on your phone. And even if it does, good luck multitasking. When it comes to custom ROMs you can't have everything, that's what cab files and a storage card are for.

Not all of it is running at once. Just because something's installed, it's not taking up RAM, unless it's a background proccess app.
Anyways, this is a thread where users can request ROM's! To one person, it's useless, to another, it's amazingly awesome!
You lean toward the slim ROM's, while he leans toward the fatty ROM's. Nothing wrong with that. I personally perfer a strong set of apps to be cooked in. It's very nice having those usefull apps already there, so that you don't have to think about installing them yourself.

I realize that ace, I'm just saying these devices can only do so much, and just because its not running does not mean it isn't taking up space. I would be willing to bet if you built that rom it would have on average less than 15mb of free program memory. And as soon as you open something like skyfire, which is a notorious memory hog, the phone will come to a screeching halt. Storage memory means NOTHING if you don't have the program memory to back it up.
Just to clarify, that's cool if that's what he's into, to each his own. Just know the limitations of your device before demanding so much from it.

It's his ROM, he can deal with the RAM consuption as he wants. I bet he already has all of those apps installed, and you know what, he's was apparently happy enough to have them all installed! He has probably been using that similar setup for a while, and guess what, it seem to work perfectly fine.

This is a no warez site, you will have to buy SPB MS or download the free korean 3.0 version. Trust me its worth the money anyway SPB is a great company.
this may seem a silly question but is the free korean version in korean?? do u have a link?
better still i just registered my copy of spb
u have a point about it being worth the money...
so thought id add 2 their bank account so i can benefit from future developments.
tho do u have a link 4 the spb updates? if such a thing exists
To get the latest full version of just go to their website and download the latest trial version. Install this to your phone and even tho it uninstalls the old version, it keeps the registration info and will automatically register itself, so that once the install is complete you are immediately using the full version.
cheers m8 ur a diamond....
will do that soon as possible....
just looking 4 updates 4 my htc atm
ok tried 2 update spb got the latest version and installed it but there is no change.... i have no reflexion on the carosel ect.... have i done something wrong??
tried installin .CAB
and run the desktop installer thru activesync and nothing....
didnt even have 2 setup the version.... iit basically took me back 2 my spb homescreen......
n e ideas??
Hey there Im new to the forums and heres my question and I apologize in advance since im sure that this will be a bit redundant.
Ok first off Im looking for a ROM thats got the best mix of performance and looks. Ive been looking at NRG's roms and they look great but Im just not sure, thats why Im asking.
Ok next is the Radios. Is there a noticeable difference in versions? And are they region dependent, as in one that works great in Australia but doesn't work that good in the US. I dont think there would be a difference but I want to be sure thats why im asking.
Next is apps. Whats the must have apps for the phone. Assuming that your running wm 6.5. Im looking for anything really, just list what you think is the best.
Lastly is games. Which emulators run the smoothest. Whats the best winmo games out there. And is there a ported quake, doom and hopefully my fav fallout 1 or 2?
1) NRG has amazing ROMs. I have been using NRG's roms since I started flashing it and have rarely been unhappy (if I was, it was a minor problem that was promptly fixed in the next release)
2) radios are highly dependent on your carrier and your own specific phone. some radios work better on you phone and some worse. take it for a test run over a few days (3-4 would be a decent amount)
3)apps... that's up to you there. I personally have:
Where is...? - an app that pulls the gps location and allows you to save it so you can recall and walk back to the location later.
G-Alarm - the alarm that requires you to do mazes or math questions to unlock snooze or turn off. Extremely flexible (choose your music, date schedule, pattern, snooze style, etc)
Garmin XT - if you can find a hacked version, it will make your life easier.
Google Maps - for the most updated locations of stuff you want to find
CleanRAM - occaisionally you run into something that is slugging your phone down. run this program to keep it running
Task Facade - MUST USE. It essentially acts like ALT-TAB for windows. just assign the short PTT button press to task facade and you'll be able to multitask real fast.
4) games. look around for the touchpro mega arcade pack. you get real old classic games like UNO (addictive.. really addictive), dope wars (nostalgic), space trader (also very nostalgic), minesweeper, etc etc. In terms of emulators, try FPSECE. I have yet been able to configure it properly, but it is supposedly able to play most PS1 games with great quality and little to no stuttering.
PS: please note that these are additional programs are ones that are not in NRG's ROM (except goggle maps. It was worth a mention for its special use)
I hope that helps.
EDIT: I did forget to mention. Welcome to XDA Developer.
So whats the difference between the Sense, TF3D, and Titanium? Obviously theyre different interfaces but is sense really that slow compared to the others?
Sense looks the best but I hear that its just slow compared to the others.
And how about XDANDROID? Any thoughts if its ready for full time use? I know that some things like bt, camera, and gps dont work right now but Id be willing to sacrifice those for the great os. Is there any info on stability and battery life of the new release?
Sorry for all the questions, Ive been on here reading all weekend but some things are so hard to figure out with the 300+ page threads.
Thanks
XDAndroid:
Im using it as my main OS, but I realy need charger in my pocket =D
And sometimes it freeze, so you must restart, waiting for WM boot and after for Android boot, so it sometimes take long time. But YES, it is possible to use as main OS.
TF3D - orginally made for VGA and Raph, but need some tweaks, have landscape, normlay slow, but tweaked is fast
Sense 2.5 - latest, nice , sometimes unstable, NO landscape, ported, sometimes slow
Sense 2.1 - ported, nice, have landscape - my favorite (im using it when im in WM),fast
Titanium - basic interface from WM 6.5 , have landscape, made for VGA, but i dont like it
I can recommend EnergyROM Phoenix2 -it is fast, stable and it looks nice
MiTMaNeK pretty much has it all down. I personally use Sense 2.1 and I absolutely love it. try out NRG's roms. They're amazing and he's one of the better chefs out there for the raphael roms.
WOW well thanks alot for the informative replies. I guess that settles it then, phoenix2 it is. Well at least till what sounds like a battery issue gets fixed. Hopefully thats soon, I cant wait for full time android.
Thanks alot
give the android rom some time. it'll be much better in the future. for now, try phoenix 2 and you'll appreciate it more.
We love our WinMo, We hate our WinMo, We like our WinMo, We tweak our WinMo.. The story goes on. But ever thought to share it with rest of the world?
Here is a chance!
Tell us, what do you do with YOUR WinMo?
This thread will bring out some common 'cool', 'professional', 'productive' or 'fun' stuffs a WinMo can do..
It will help us discover some cool hints and tips other might be using to explore the maximum out of WinMo, in the times when some of the members in our forums have gone to an extent of calling 'WinMo - a dead OS'
Please comment along with your vote, as this will allow more 'sharing'!
For Mods: I have created this poll here and not in General, only because I thought, this will give an idea to Developers about the kind of apps/softwares, that are in demand and are being used. If you feel like it's in wrong place (I am sorry!), please feel free to move it to correct forum.
the thing i like about windows mobile is that i can use it without google watching my every move. i really like mymobiler i use it every day.

My P3600 (Trinity) running WM6.1 is:
- routing between carrier's 3G data network and my home network (e.g. gateway)
- PPTP VPN server
- HTTP server (with www root on a CIFS share)
- SNMP agent
- VNC server
- DynDNS client

Um, Android.
I still have a old Touch and Wing lying around. Don't use them at all but I loved them back in the day especially the Wing. Remember when it felt cool to use a stylus? Miss the days when I started my first business and used my Wing in the subway to fill out invoices and update inventory on mobile Excel.

I am still in the days when I love using stylus from time to time
Although my TG01 lets me touch and use it, I sometimes just like to use stylus and the accuracy is still unbeatable with fingers!
