before we begin, I would like to tell u. How I will miss my position as a "manager" (some call me that) of this thread. This could be our final and last release for elf/in. Its been a really-really-really long way, since we first launch our first rom. the rom has improved alot and personally we do too. I hereby apologize for every wrong deed I've done . also would like to thx for all the support u have given us. Even if this thread forgotten, I'm happy that we can be one of the rom contributor. Some of u like us, and some... but we will miss u all hahaha. ok the reason I stop.... the device is growing old, its time to change. when u got spare money please donate !aman! so he can buy another htc device. meanwhile I use my old nokia, untill my new phone arive. nice to meet u all, good bye, and hope to see u again. UPGRADE INSTRUCTION :
0. This ROM is free to use but at your own risk, We take no responsiblity for any conflict, fault, or damage caused by this flashing procedure.
1. YOU MUST use newest IPL AND USPL/HSPL version 3.10 or above , search for !aman! USPL or cmonex HSPL. after you are sure the ipl and spl is upgraded then...
2. Upgrade the rom
a. using ROM upgrade utility attached on post 1
b. or u can flash directly using SD card method (read faqs)
3. when booting premium, wait for a while and let the connection setup finish. then soft reset the device before u start using the rom
4. In case u need original TESS 4.X themes : click here
5. READ THE FAQS on post 3 and CHANGELOG on post 2

0. Can I upgrade the rom to my ELF/ELFIN?
- Both version (premium and lite) can be used on ELF + ELFIN, and do not flash the rom to other device.
BTW for elf user it is recommended to use lite version. since our tiny ram and rom memory will need more free space

install M2DC and add/remove the TAB
ps: for lite user,,,,, if u have problem adding tab, u should install other skin, than give it another try. it should be working just fine. (or u can find then re-install "Reflection theme" -> the default skin)

2. OMG i cant upgrade the rom, the RUU said invalid size !! / Wrong Certificate !!!
- please read the upgrade instruction, since the rom use new base, so it need new ipl and hspl/uspl -> 3.07.cmon or above
- and make sure your rom download is not corrupted

3. I hate the rom, or the chef, or blasev, or service pack, i hate the whole world!!
- well i know that not all of u will like this rom, it were meant for speed and stability , the way our team likes it.
and if u feel this rom is not your type, u can try many other rom or cook your own rom. besides we never ever force u to use our rom.

4. Any guide to using ELF efficiently?
- hmm... elf is not meant for M2D -> memory only 64MB, so there are many thing u should do
---a. change the Page Pool to 4MB ->PP changer provided in post 1
---b. dont install too many 3rd party program
---c. close unneeded program from running
---d. install oxios hibernate (dont use oxios close app, just use the hibernate)
---e. dont add more tab, lesser tab = more memory (I use 5 tab myself)
---f. use simple M2DC skin or better not to change the skin at all
---g. buy elfin?? haha , ok ok its a joke, i'm still using my lovely elf myself

5. Pre-installed program are not working!!
- we have tried and test most of the app preinstalled in the rom, all are working fine. so check if 3rd arty software or your own registry modification cause the problem.

- tess does have better battery management compared to some other rom, so thats not a rom fault.
- check if active sync is running continuosly on the back ground -> look no 10 for solution
- do not install to many 3rd party software that run continously , eg: S2US, HS++, etc2

18. How to upgrade using SD card method?
1. Make sure u're using SPL v.3.XX.cmon
2. Use your windows (do not use your PPC) to format your SD card with FAT32.
3. Rename the nbh files to ELF0IMG.nbh
4. Put the renamed nbh to SD card root directory
5. Enter bootloader mode (hold camera button while pressing soft reset button)
6. It will search for the nbh then...
7. quickly press the power button before time countdown is finished
8. wait..... wait..... voila your device is upgraded ^_^

20. why the rom arent using the latest schap advanced config?
- we won't always use the latest version for every software included
- we simply choose the best one according our own usage (fast and stable in mind)
- for example : schap make advanced config ver 3.X above for newer vga device (*cough* diamond), so for qvga user like us, schap 2.1 is more than sufficient.
- yes this is rather subjective, so we simply use our own preference haha

start - setting - connection - add new modem connection --- then
"name for the connection" => u can rename with your carrier name
"select a modem" => selular line (gprs)
click next
"access point name" => u can name it the carrier name
click next
please fill them all / just left them blank (in my case, the operator dont need any password or user name, so i left it blank)
click finish

I never had any plans to publish my ROMs. But blasev was adamant to make it public. And finally he convinced me to release it, haha.
Although there are lot of great ROMs already by one of best Chefs here, I hope this ROM can make a mark of its own. If you happen to like this ROM, the credit should also go to blasev.
Just to add:
1. This ROM doesn't support UC 2.0 concept as I'm not really a big fan of UC.
2. Pls update to the latest IPL/USPL/HSPL as mentioned by blasev so that you can enjoy the best performance of this ROM.

as it is a 4 MB DEFAULT PP ROM, therefore you have to check for the following HEX string for both Elf and Elfin:

thats for you to check it yourself according to your needs. I personally use 16 MB PP on my Elfin which works well.

hey i have installed ur ROM SPL IPL everything and even Radio version, everything running Fine, could u pls custom to work this Faster for GPRS and WIFI Internet connectons ,As mostly i use for GPRS, i am INDIAN AIRTEL mumbai user, add features which can optimize maximum speed OF GPRS pls ..and let me know, thanks for ur Hard work ...

well, the main aim of my ROMs is always speed and stability. so u can be rest assured about that. i'll look into this and see if i can make any difference to speed of gprs/wifi although that largely depends upon the ISP, especially GPRS.
Can somone help me make a kitchen with this i have been trying all morning and i cannot get it to boot. I found this in the Elf upgrades section i just want a clean kitchen. I also have XIP_20924 in the package.

Sweet and thanks i still cant get the damn think to boot it just sticks at the htc boot screen i have also tried just porting the sys and same thing happen, hope your having better luck and if you do port it over and dont want to share the kitchen with the world do you mind sharing with me?
Also did I mention its AKU 1.5.0
I keep having a problem too. I have one question. When I open g'reloc and delete all files in my base roms sys minus the .vm folder and copy all contents minus the .vm from my dumped 20921 sys and hit doit! g'reloc keeps failing for me. Does my base rom sys contents have to match the contents of my sys want to port exactly before hitting doit?

When I open g'reloc and delete all files in my base roms sys minus the .vm folder and copy all contents minus the .vm from my dumped 20921 sys and hit doit! g'reloc keeps failing for me. Does my base rom sys contents have to match the contents of my sys want to port exactly before hitting doit?

Yes i have 20924 included in the package, for someone to help port. no the sys files do not have to be exacly the same i prefer to remove some like autoupdate and some other unneeded files but some core packages are required. Anybody else haveing any luck

The dsm file in the SYS folder. Open it with a hex editor and go to adress 3C... it will say 05 02 00 78 05 31
78 05 is the aku, converted to dec 1400 ie aku 1.4.0
05 31 converted to dec is 20755
I use XVI32 and decode the number, you can use a scientific calculator though, just remember to switch the numbers.... ie 0531 change to 3105

now, i wonder where they get this build from,.
If this build came from a Cooked ROM (someone dump it from another one cooked ROM), not from microsoft, then its very possible for the first cooker to include part of another SYS for solving bugs,.
and thats why maybe 20755 included in this ROM,.

yeah. i can agree this doesnt seem to be an official. since some rgu and dsm files have been packaged together to port this build successfully to other devices.
and so far build 20755 seems to be the most stable and this may explain the hex edits
but i can attest to the fact this build feels so much smoother given it is aku 1.5.0

pk. How you been brother? Long time no read Like ayu.. said it is very possible that the dsm and rgus used to rebuild the dumped ROM might be from 20755. I myself used these files from 20921 build to rebuild the dumped ROM

I haven't understand well these convertions:
let's start to 78 05 (hex) --> swap --> 05 78 ---> dec = 1400 --> aku 1.4.0
and this is ok but after...
05 31 (hex) ?!? where is it?! do you have taken a wrong bytes ?!
If i inverted processes i have:
20755 (dec) --> hex = 51 13 --> swap --> 13 51
so it's correct 13 51 and not 05 31 ?!?

It's probably the same approach that has been used after you gave us the first dump of that custom rom based on the Opal one, when we got Opal files mixed with Raphael files...

Open rgu file in shell folder ( SYS ). Search aku.
It will be something like this :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Versions]
"Aku"=".1.4.3"
Red : Change this to, what you want. ( Text, number or mix ). Make sure you a add space or dot, before you type anything.
Example :
In registry -
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Versions]
"Aku"=".0.1 XYZ"
In about window -
CE OS 5.2.20764 (Build 20764.0.1 XYZ).
Note: Hex editing is nk.exe is to change the OS version which shows on 2nd splash screen ( I.e IPL, SPL, GSM and OS ).
