Hi guys,
Yes, it's been quiet lately for NoThrills, but that doesn't mean I haven't been cooking!
I currently have a ROM in progress that I myself feel very comfortable with. As always, it has the lates applications available, but here are some other highlights:
TRUE Diamond build 19588 port (no Hybrid, full SYS and XIP ported)
Patched filesystem with 4MB additional storage (140MB total, 136MB free)
Optimised system files and patched kernel for additional speed and lower memory usage
Plus a secret I'm working on, but not sure if I can pull it off
I have been running this build for little over a month now and it's working well for myself. There might be things that I've broken though. And because I do not want to spend alot of time fixing things after I've unleashed NoThrills V4, I'm looking for beta testers!
Reply to this thread and I will select 10 people within the next 24 hours. I am looking for 'experienced' people, so people with < 5 posts will probably not make the cut
I will send you a download link and I would like you to tell me everything that's wrong in the next couple of days, so I can release my best ROM ever, currently planned for next weekend.
Do we have a deal?
that sounds like a killer rom !
i'm not a guru but have flashed a few roms so i'm in

Hi people
Flashed my K-Jam a couple of time. All successfull to a degree but struggled with the mUn_ARTM ROM. So just a simple question for the experts and those with the ROM flashing and testing experience:
What would be the most stable version? As well as, which ROM is as close to the official release?
Thanks

Who has the official release for HTC Wizard ?
My guess is that nobody for now.
And BTW, the whole purpouse of this forum is to twist and improve official releases. Why would somebody want an "as close to" official one ?
I think mun_rus aRTM WM6 ROM is so close to Official ROM in viewpoint of stability. ...
Anichillus, most of the aspiring chefs would like one as a base to work from. I have an 8MB PP version of faria's original vanilla rom in testing right now, but I can't get rid of a phone settings glitch that is killing me. I would suggest you wait a little and you'll probably have what you are looking for.

Yea man, but it's not right that you're bustin' your a*** to make an standard edition...that's just ...not right
I suggest for those who want to start do some cooking for their own, to try all roms here and simply start with the one is most fit to their needs. That way, they don't have too much to work and it's easyer , because it's a rom that you already like. Trust me, I know
I mean...you are doing a job twice man ...
You ...because you are trying to make a perfect stable version , with all working but no tweaking, which on the other hand will be then thorn appart ...
If they want a base, just start with Orwells
Reason being that Orwell's has that annoying wifi bubble issue as do all orwell variants. Second, I like stability and others do as well. It's a good chance that if you get a stable platform and then mod it, then you will know if it's something you did to break it and it's easier to fix. Maybe I'm just weird...but that's me.

Send me a pm and explain the problem that you are having. mabe I can help.
I think you can read the problem in Faria's Vanilla rom thead. That is why it is not available to download at the moment. He is fixing that as well as a few other things (and hopefully updating the radio stack).
Can some one suggest which Rom out there is the most stable and fastest eg: NBD 9.2 or Octavia 5 etc

Jaguar is best!
I 've tested every WM6 ROM out there. None satisfied me. So, decided to go back WM5 AKU 3.3 Generic (without T-Mobile stuff). Perhaps, what I can recommend for WM6 is either 15342 (dogfood) or 1437. So far, these are 2 most stable build by far.
Jaguar *is* the most reliable and stable.

I love the ICTDifrentie.NL rom.
its fast smart and easy to use
Greats Antonius
I have NBD 9.2 rom but these days there is no new Rom from NBD so hoping for a new release.
Let me throw in my vote for Jaguar as well. It has been very responsive and I haven't encountered any problems yet.
once again the same newbie question.

Please read on the forum, research a little bit about Cook's preferences and style and look which one suits your own need..
Mods shall we delete this thread please???
The one that works the best for my needs is.....
Hello all,
Yes, these threads pop up about every other day or so.... and while they might get tiresome for the old hats and gurus here, it's still nice to collect a smattering of opinions as to where the user community might be leaning regarding what rom base, touch or no touch, HTC Home or HTC NOT Home, overclocking, memory free, performance, battery usage, etc... and while this is extremely specific to the device and flash method(s) used as well as the applications loaded and a slew of other factors, it is still just a loose "hold your finger to the wind" type of thing that is still interesting....
Myself? I always look to see what the latest info is on the NBD, TNT, and TNE fronts.... and when it comes time, I usually end up trying all three as well as throwing in Mfrazz and others when I see something new from them... All in all, every one of them has occupied my rom for months at a time....
Right now I'm running TNT.1457 and everything works... the apps I have bog it down a bit and I don't use Touch or HTC Home.... the memory usage is pretty good with ~21 MB free after all my Today plugins and such are loaded... battery life is a little scary but that's the way I use my phone... a Cingular 8125.... I see NBD X has come out.... been drooling just thinking about it....
So the best ROM for My Usage? I lean towards NBD and TNT the most... they seem to match my usage patterns of my phone the best....
My $.02 (and I'll probably get change)

Try it and make up your own opinion.
BUT PLEASE,

SORRY I LEFT OUT Q-MOBILE! If you're using it or another unlisted custom ROM, just choose "other" and then post below to specify which ROM you're using.
In fact, even if you choose a specific "chef," please specify WHICH version/variation you're using and WHY.
I'm currently on Dutty #6 - tried #7, but I didn't find it quite as good. Waiting for 8! I might try other people's ROMs at some point, but that's partly why I asked this question - I want to know whose ROMs are most popular and why. Fast? Stable? Clean? Useful?
Dutty's Rom
I am using Dutty's Tilt Rom...uh on my tilt. It seems very stable and I have a bunch of apps running. It's been about 2 weeks and so far so good.
The only problem with loading one of dutty's rom's is that he never sleeps so you get addicted to flashing your Kaiser.: eek:

I've got to agree with you... I'm addicted now. But which version are you using?
I'm using Dutty's latest No. 7. For me, his ROMs have been very stable and fast.
XDA Live v1.2. I like the design goal of maximizing storage space and only installing what I want. It's almost like cooking my own rom, but much easier.
I'm using Dutty's No. 6 Lite HTC ROM.
I always want to have a clean, fast and stable ROM. I was running CUSTEL v2.1 first, but decided to turn to Dutty's ROMs because he has LOTS of updates! (I like flashing )

Sorry Q!!!
Dutty's ATT touchflow ROM.
Full featured, has many of the extras already built in, minus that AT&T bloat crap. It runs very well for me.

No problem, besides...having just posted it last night the adoption rate would take a while anyway--and thats assuming people like it.
Was using Dutty's Tilt-Touchflo Beta but I ran into some issues and now I'm trying out Q's. Looks good so far, fast, stable.
XDA-Live 1.2 for me. It's very stable, everything works like it's supposed to, and I like how streamlined and fast it is. I wanted an ATT Tilt specific ROM, and of those choices, this one works the smoothest. I like to be able to customize what apps are on there too.

Agreed. This is my current cooked ROM of choice after using 5 superb ROMS. Check it out. Simple, lightweight, fast and stable (for at least a full day of use)
Hat's off to all the chefs!
Currently using Dutty Touchflo 2 final non tilt edition on my tilt..... its the best for me till now... gave the no. 6 touchflo rom a try, but it was severely crippling my Tilt with random occasional freezing.... I am very happy with Touchflo 2.... its uber-fast and I simply love its freaky-fast responsiveness.....
i am using Helmi_C since day one, tried different ROM but i ended up going back, it's old, but it's quick, fast and big storage! most of all, it's quite stable and no problem whatsoever!

I should have agreed with you a few weeks ago. Helmi_c had a very nice and stable ROM for a long time.
I've used Dutty's ROMs and CUSTEL ROMS but I still think Helmi_C had the best ROM for a long time.
Today I flashed Q-Mobile 1.0 ROM and I gives me the "Helmi_C" feeling!
It's clean, fast and seems to be stable! I think I'll stick with this one. (At least for a couple of days )
XDA Live 1.2
So far so good with this ROM. I didn't want to screw around with a non-at&t variant because I'm a noob. I loaded some SPB software and iGO for GPS and it's running great. There's loads of storage available since the ROM is smaller.
As far as stability goes, it works well enough when I reset every couple of days. Sometimes there are random freezes when it is unresponsive but these have gone down a bit since I figured out installing everything to the device works best. I had one SOD a couple nights ago when screwing around with finger-friendly friends but only that once. For now I am just going to use the stock contact supplemented with SPB contacts on Today.
The reason I plan on sticking with this ROM is that I figure Kyphur has a good chance of getting it completely stable easier than a ROM with a bunch of programs. It's already blazing fast and the radio version works well for me so far.
Q-Mobile 1.0 here - I've tried every rom, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Q-Mobile just seems to fit nicely in with what I expect the device to do, and how I think it should look. Fast, stable, no bugs that I've found, and a nice set of default apps.
I hate to reply to this one since it should be up to you to read up on it and try it out. But then again you want instant gratification so here DUTTY's rom no.6 or later. Why? Because no one else has put forth more time and effort into releasing these roms than he has and not to leave out his beta tester community too.
I'm not sure what it is, but I got that weird freezing on every rom I tried out. Right now, I'm using Alex cook your own rom and that is causing freezing, too. Any roms out there that don't have that freezing problem? I think its a normal thing cause the base rom.
I have been adding/deleting features and programs in the new 19202 build that NoThrills has so graciously released to us.
Due to it kaiser designed base, giving it amazing speed(even in complete stock form), I was curious as to how many people would like a cooked version released, with some bug fixes, registry tweaks, and also some added utilities.
If you would like this, please respond letting me know what you would like to see in this release. I have already cooked several versions for my own person use, and modified it for my own use.
Just let me know what everyone would like to see, and ill try my best to release a few builds to accommodate the majority.
First Release of my Hybrid OS 5.2.19202 (Build 19209) can be found here after I upload: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2069244#post2069244
Yes please!
I'd love to see the basic ROM with bug fixes and generic updates to the HTC progs. To many ROMs get stuffed with extraneous crap that isn't useful.
Cook away brother, as I'd enjoy the sampling.
I do not think this is a good build to cook from unless you feel like spending lots of time in the kitchen fixing MS screw ups! Has anyone noticed the screen tearing from the new .dlls? plus there are a few other things I won't mention since most of you haven't played with roms that long to understand what I am talking about.
What specifics would you like to see?
Such as apps to be added/removed
What bugs do you think should have priority?
etc, etc...
uDK just released a version...
I'd like to see a "If HTC could be bothered to put all the fixes and S/W updates in all one ROM, This is how it would look ROM"
Camera Fix
Camera Album
Comm Manager
Video Dialer
Calculator
Little fixes like backlight going out on call.
Removing of the useless Windows Update.
But most Important its clean!!! Fresh...
UC compliant for all us to enjoy the phone our way...
I like flashing other peoples work... But thats their work... The way they want the phone... Yes they add little bits and take bits out on request sometimes... But how nice would it be to have our own way...
Argh 1st post other than just a thanks so I babbled and lost my self...
Thanks for your suggestions. I am working on these fixes as I type.
So far I have completed this:
- Working Video Dialer
- Comm Manager(6 Button)
- Latest HTC Album
- Camera Fix(Latest which i have seen)... PLEASE post the cab that contains which fix you are speaking of.
- Calculator
- GPS Test
- Office and OneNote has been removed in the lite version
- Welcome Center removed
- HSDPA Icon added
- HTC Plus added(disabled by default)
- HTC Home updated(now with tab under today settings)
- And more!
all the latest htc apps.....audio manager,home,album etc.....plus total comander is a must...thanks

Well, I'm not a professional cook. But I flashed about every ROM that was ever out here, both on my Hermes and my Kaiser.
And despite of your reactions, AllTheWay and Austinsnyc, I really really dig this ROM. Never had a faster and snappier ROM before (even not Dutty's), no single freeze for 4 days, never needed to softreset.
I don't use voicecommander, but I dó use bluetooth (carkit, external phone), GPRS, HSDPA, phone, TomTom, Navigon, PointUI, PZPTools, etc. It all works great!
Yes, there are some problems reported, but aren't they also with Dutty's, Schaps, Alex's?
And yes, it may be a cooked ROM, but for me it's really worth further developing...

Never going to happen until a carrier is going to release it, so why even bring it up?
If you are happy with a ROM, just sit on it and enjoy its features... No matter how great a ROM is, it has its limitations.
I must have flashed over 100 times, three tilts among a series of HTC phone creations. I guess I am settling down and perhaps I will refrain from flashing for a great while.
I am using Dutty's Hybrid of April 1st. It is by far the most stable and robust ROM I have used. I added few programs to boot and am very satisfied with the way the ROM is behaving.
Just remember it is just a phone... Not a music box, a movie theater, Lost Finder, Can Openner... Primarily it is a phone, and it will never replace your PC or laptop. so just relax and enjoy the summer...
My 3 cents....
Word of a wise man. I may just sit until WM7 and have some good wine.
That is true. I do not flash very often anyways, I just hate having to personalize everything again! I haven't tried that auto thing the new roms have, but I have set it up (I haven't flashed a new rom since I put that text file in my SD card). I assume it will make it less of a pain.

I no longer flash as much as I used to. Started realizing that I was spending more time flashing and reconfiguring than actually using my phone (also why I've chose not to cook on the Kaiser right now). I was on Confused Stu's Mobile Vista v1.1 for over a month (first time I had seen some of my apps start running out of their trials and having to enter in the auth codes I have for them. LOL) before I upgraded to his v1.3 (and to be honest the only reason I flashed to that was I was helping him beta test it and wanted to run it for a week before recommending it to some friends that are wanting to upgrade their Tilts).
I do truely appreciate all those here that do flash and test constantly (AllTheWay immediately comes to mind here... ). But for me, I'm happy to watch the new roms come out, read what works and doesn't for awhile, then move to somethng new when I see something I'd like to have, and avoid minor issues that I know would drive me up the wall after others find them (I use my phone as a tool for work, so while the latest can be cool, if parts of it don't work (or don't work well) then it defeats what the device is supposed to be for me).
I primarily stick to Dutty's too. It's nice when a new version comes out because all the apps are updated or new. That's about the only reason I reflash to a different ROM.
You would not say that if you had the Samsung - here's the link:

I try to refrain from flashing too many times too but sometimes new ROMs are just too juicy to avoid.
Perhaps I may have outgrown the habit a little bit that in the sense I now have preference for what features I look for and furthermore who the chef is.

a thing to carry in my pocket...
and lots more
I actually don't mind flashing new ROMS, its more of a hobby. Now that there's UC thanks to Sleuth, theres minor personaliztions to do (eventually i'll take the time to dig deeper into UC for settings, at which point i'll have none).
I like seeing different styles of ROMs, and seeing what types of things people are tossing in. Excited about Schap's!
I too have styoped flashing my kaiser that much I use my prophet for that....
I flashed some roms when I first got my Kaiser but then went back to my personal coocked rom. I've had that on for months but have now changed it to my Throttle rom and it's been on my phone for a week already.
It's a phone and will always be a phone but this android thingy looks intresting ... well mainly because it can be done not that I might get any use of it.
Not me. I'm gonna flash until I find one that will do Everything, including fixing me a drink.
Turkey 101 & Sprite.
That's what I'm sayin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes Sirrrrrrrrrrrrrrr P1!!!
This "Phone" make life easy and when P1, ATW or I find a way for it to make our dinner and clean up our desks then it will be complete! Until then I will be a flashin' fool! Thanks to Dutty, P1Tater, ATW and JimmyMcGee as they have helped me in everyway possible to make Flashin, downloading and all other outlets of this "Phone" very user friendly & I have never created a thread!!!!! So as far as a Reality Check: Not so Much, but I am sooooo looking foward to the summer with my "Phone" i.e. Slingbox, Music Player, video center with my solar charger! Again My patented saying: Yes Sirrrrrrrrr! Drink: Southern Comfort and Cranberry
Enjoy your "Phones" everyone.
p.s. Is it only me? Or do you get surprised when you get a phone call and you remember it is a phone!

That's funny. I would periodically forget that my Kaiser is a phone when it doesn't ring. Just about two months ago when I upgraded to a Kaiser from a Herald, I switched to AT&T from Tmobile .... primarily for the (3G) data plan and selection of phones of course. As of lately, I found myself flashing less and less because (my opinion) I believe that the roms coming out are now are basically bug and minor fixes, perhaps a minor speed increase to previously cooked roms (which is good). I will perhaps flash again once a rom is cooked that can wash my car, pay my bills. .
Regardless, I think this site is awesome because it brings together some of the most (if not all) creative chefs in the business that would put those in M$/HTC to shame. Just my two cents.
i flashed shaps rom the day i got this phone.. i hadnt changed it until his 6.1 beta. really didnt like it so ive flashed all the 6.1 roms i could find. cant wait for his new build either.
Naturally, the last ROM I've flashed is my own
It's been about two months now and after all that WM6.1 testing, I'm not even sure if I really want to make another ROM once WM6.1 is officially shipped and on the HTC website.
As I've said in mfrazzz's thread, making your own ROM really does scratch the itch.

It already does this... Is called "Texting the Wifey".
Just like several opinions posted here, I will probably never stop flashing my Tilt to the latest and greatest ROM. (My co-workers actually maintain a "flash count" on their white boards )
With that being said, I flashed NoThrills ROM when it came out back in March, and kept it until several days ago until Dutty's Apr 09 release. I will most likely refrain from flashing until someone can best Dutty's latest attempt. That person will not be me because I don't have the attention span to cook my own personal ROM.
BTW, congrats on the Mod bump Alex! Now you get to close redundant threads and spew witty comments like Kyphur!
