Has anyone a free alternative to use multiple gps applications at te same gps bluetooth receiver at te same time.
I can use TomTom6 for gps and trackr (trackr.nl) for tracking the route, but it isn't possible to run them at te same time cause they both want to use the bluetooth gps receiver and it looks like that's something that can't be done?
gpsgate could do this I've read, but I was wondering if there is a free solution?
thanks

Hi, i just bought a Bluetooth GPS receiver (called BT-R500). I am wanted to use it with my Qtek 2020 (ROM 1.66.04ITA if this can be useful to somebody for helping me out...)!
I can't let them "communicate"...why? Anybody knows what i should do for the setting (which COM port should i use? it says com5 but can't find any satellite...)!!!
Is there somebody that had this kinda proble and solved it? Could you be so kind to let me know? thanks
When you bond the gps it should ask if you wish to use it as serial device. What software are you using and what are the settings you have applied? Have you tried a free 3rd party testing program to see if you are getting connection/signal?
I am using "Mapsonic", that requires a GPS that supports the NMEA signals 2.0. My GPS bluetooth receiver meets NMEA 2.2 requirements. This might be a problem in your opinion? I have not tried to use it with a 3rd party, just because i don't know anyone that has a GPS on his palm.

can you actually paired in the first place? or just unable to detect the satelites?

Maybe you should check the baude rate of the GPS device. I am using SysOn and had the same problem. You may also need to check if you are using the old rom or the new WMSE. For the old one, you should install bluetooth tools.
Alternatively, you can try GPS Tuner as it has an auto search function for the devices to communicate.
i have the same problem with holux 231 BT
i have the 1.72 wwe it work fine in com 5 the navigon reconize him but i have a motorola car kit he can't work with the MSbtooth i must install Bt tools to pair it but in the same time i loose the connection for the GPS
hi change from com5 to com7 i have a tools named gpsviewer delivred with the holux hi fond the GPS but the navigon no
i change the rom to the we 2.20 CHS but i discover that the GPS can't be found i install windcom stack ver1.49 and it work like a charm with the GPS but the are no profile for the car kit

I have an XDA 11i on pay as you go - could I use it for finding where I am at any given time (ie when I am lost !) - not for directions as I go.
If you buy a GPS receiver you can connect it to the XDA.
It does not have GPS built in.
would it work if I loaded software such as TomTom ?
TomTom only provides route mapping software.
In order to use TomTom you still need the GPS hardware.
A seperate GPS receiver is required no matter what software is on the XDA, the phone needs a seperate receiver to see the GPS signal, and cannot pick this up itself.
Thanks for your help and patience .
Is there a gps program that works for the Shadow? I tried 3 or 4 from sites I googled, but no success. Is it because the shadow doesn't have a gps system built into the phone? And is the a gps program that works just from your bluetooth?
This is what I found:
http://www.handango.com/aolsoftware...nId=4677§ionId=6022&catalog=110&title=GPS
None of those worked for me.
Shdaow has no on-board GPS-you must use a Bluetooth-enabled GPS device paired with the Shadow; then you can use whatever GPS solution you choose to.

theres anyone who use this software?? it's simple to install??

Hi,
I use Route 66, very good software.
You can try Sygic McGuider, it's a new app, and seems to be a good alternative.
If you want TomTom, you can, with fakecursor (cursor emulator).
Bye.
can you suggest a good reciver that is not that expensive?
I took a Blumax receiver... cheap and it works with Route 66.
Route 66 will sometimes disconnect from the receiver while calculating the route, I just reset the receiver (takes all of 5 seconds) and it works again.
I have older standalone gps devices that work ok, but I would like to run a gps app on my android, and being that it only has WIFI I was wondering two things.
1. Does the Shield have a reliable enough antenna for GPS Navigation?
2. Which is the best "off line" GPS app to use for Canada/USA? (I was thinking of using TomTom, as it is on sale?)

1. It seems more than adequate to use for GPS navigation. Mine personally seems to take up to a few minutes to find enough satellites but other people reported really good GPS usage.
2. If the Tomtom is as good as it is on iOS then it should be good enough for offline navigation. I used Tomtom on iOS with a XGPS300 with my ipod touch which obviously didn't have data either and it gave me usually good directions. Although after getting a hotspot I've since used Waze on my ipod touch and sometimes my Shield and it works well on both.
The best offline GPS Android app for Canada/USA is Copilot. Fast satellite lock and fast rerouting.
Its visually appealing and is very easy to navigate the menus compared to TomTom.
I have Sycig, for Europe and it works flawlessly. You can install it from the store.
I made 1300 KM with it and worked great. Had no problem.
I am so glad I have the shield!!
For usa you can get GoPilot or IGO, for Europe definitly Igo, also Route 66 is nice , Sygic too.
