Hey, I'm looking for a program that will switch between Profiles (Silent/Vibrate/Normal/+user defined ones) automatically based on defined times AND on my calendar entries (also differently depending on the calendar entry)
I used to have Photo Contacts PRO, which did all of the above (and more it also had an automatic SMS reply option, and the profile could have exceptions for certain numbers)
Photo Contacts PRO seems to have stopped working with 6.1 (Gonzo) so /shrug
So my questions are:
1. Is it possible to get Photo Contacts working on 6.1 or
2. Is there a program out there that does a similar job with Profiles? I don't really use the Photo Contacts part of Photo Contacts PRO, just the awesome profile part
Any hints/Tips etc welcome
and the answer is CTscheduler
It accesses my calendar for timing as well? I read through the description and couldn't find that bit.
Tried installing it on my VOX and when I select the program it just gives me the "busy" circle quick, then doesn't do anything else... (same as Photocontacts actually) is something missing/setup wrong? (WM 6.1)
You may want to try AutoFlight. It does have these features.
Ok Autoflight works, but I don't really feel like rewriting all my appointments for the autoprofiles bit to work. (photocontacts just accepts ANY entry in the calender and not specially prepared ones
SPB Phone Suite (Don't know if it works for Smart Phones as well)

I have to change the story since I discovered after getting a few mails, that the photo contacts application is gone, but it is no longer needed, since all information is now stored in the contacts. It is a lot better than before, because you only need 1 application.
I am using my Qtek2020 for almost 2 years now and one of the features I really liked was Photo Contacts. However, it doesn't work all the time, whatever I am trying to do. When I saw the first screen shots of WM2005 it showed a contacts application with photos. I tought that WM2005 would have solved the problems of 2003 and SE, but unfortunately it isn't true. Even worse, there is no photo contacts application any more in wm2005, unless I don't have the right roms.
I know that you can buy photo contacts from a vendor, but it used to be part of all the previous rom versions, what happened?
Does anyone have an idea about a good extended rom for wm2005?
thanks
You can assign photos and ringtones from the contacts, you must missed that in WM5.0
It's integrated in Contacts application
Check you contacts: the second or third line is called "change image". The same goes for ringtone...
Even better: now the image in contacts is synchronized with Outlook 2003!
Cheers,
Hal

Thanks guys,
but can you see a photo with an incoming or outgoing call?
Yes, you can!
otherwise it would be pretty useless to asign the pics
that is unless one had a poor memory and
would benefit from having a picture and name to go together when
trying to renember people
photo contacts
Hi guys,
thx to all, it works just fine and it is a lot better than ever before!
Making contacts picture bigger?
Anyone knows how to increase the size of the pictures or photos that we have assigned to the contact? It is really small...
Finnish Aali Alikoski, Academic Developer Evangelist of Microsoft Finland, has just released a highly useful application, SMS Notifier, along with its source code.
The application offers some really nice and, up to now, to my knowledge, on the Pocket PC Phone Edition platform, unprecedenced functionality: it waits for unanswered incoming calls and, depending on the configuration settings, it either sends an SMS message to the caller (with configurable contents), possibly containing also the end time of current appointment (this is also configurable) or adds an item to the system-level Windows Mobile calendar (containing the caller info).
The latter functionality is nothing new – you can check the caller's identity and the call date/time in any low-end mobile phone. The former – that is, the SMS feedback –, however, is really long-awaited!
Downloading and Installation
You can download the application here. Transfer the CAB file to your PDA and execute it there.
If, after installing and upon starting SMS Notifier, you're presented this error message, make sure you download and install .NET CF 2.0 from Microsoft. Make sure you install it in the main memory. Also note that, as the application heavily relies on the new, connectivity/database-related libraries of .NET CF2, it's not very easy to port it to run under the earlier Compact Framework library. (For CAB lovers, you will only need c:\Program Files\ Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\ v2.0\WindowsCE\wce500\armv4i\NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab ; you can also download it from here (to avoid having to download the 24 Mbyte-long MSI installer).
Configuration
On the main set-up screen, there're some checkboxes in AND relationship. The first one, Send SMS to unanswered callers, instructs the application to send an SMS to everybody that tries to call you but his or her calls remain unanswered. Using (not disabling) the second two checkboxes, however, you may make the application not send a SMS to anyone that calls you, just to the ones that call you during an active/busy appointment.
The checkbox/text input area at the bottom makes it possible to report the end of the current appointment so that he or she can know when you are reachable again.
The Calendar tab contains only one checbox, which instructs the application to enter all the incoming calls into Calendar.
Note that the configuration settings are not correctly saved/restored, as the author also points out.
Usage
To use the application, just start and configure it to your liking. Do not click the Quit button – then, it won't send your callers any SMS. Just let it run. You can, of course, suspend the PDA while you do so and also minimize the application. This also means you can safely start it from \Windows\Startup (just like the other highly recommended application, PMRecorder – please see this article on it if interested) – if it's running in the background, it'll safely catch all unanswered calls.
Other stuff
I also recommend the author's blog here. Don't be taken aback of some of the material's being in Finnish: there's nothing really interesting in them for non-Finns (the Finnish blog posts are only about local, Finnish meetings, conferences). Unfortunately, some of the other Finnish .NET bloggers (see the links in the lower left of the page) post exclusively in Finnish, even highly technical stuff that would be interesting for non-Finnish speakers too. (Feel free to ask me in my blog for a public translation for some of them if really interested.)
windows mobile live messenger is syncing all the email contacts to my PPC contacts and its getting really annoying. I'm sick of scrolling through my contacts and seeing an entry like "Sek_C_girl_69" or some other crap like that.
I go through and delete the ones i don't want and add my friends emails under there appropriate contact info but they still keep appearing.
Anyone know of some tweak i can do that will not display contacts with only an email address?
You can use the builtin filter.
How?
Just as an FYI,
The next beta version will be MUCH improved in this area.
Don't forget, it's NOT a finished product, and doesn't necessarilly look like the final version. Lots of changes are upcoming.
(can't be more specific than this, sorry)

Go to your contacts application; Choose menu -> Filter and select all your categories. This should work.
I only have 'all contacts', 'recently viewed' and 'No categories' to select.
I've got the following options under filter : All contacts, Recently viewed, no categories, family, personal, colleagues, and more...
I guess i just got to put them all in groups, but then i can't select multiple groups like say i want to see Family, Personal, and Colleagues and not WMLM contacts...?
whats really pissing me off about it is in the SPB Diary plug in, it shows a couple picture contacts, then after that its just emails and i have to scroll forever to get to my real contacts.
They call that program a beta? Alpha at most. All the people I know who've tried it appear offline. (Windows XP/Vist versions) Seriously, bugs that big should be gone far before the "B-word" is used to describe the development stage.
Hi
I couldnt find anywhere, i thought this question was ovious.
in my sim card, i have contact name mark with /m or /h or /w for mobile, home, and work. for exemple ''Jonh/m'' means jonh cell phone.
and i have some thing like this
jonh /h 514-248-4535
jonh /w 514-234-7854
Jonh /m 514-234-5665
when i tranfer it to my phone, it have exactly the same structure.
There is some way to merge it togerter under the same name with different categories for mobile and work and home number and so on?
one other thing is how to hide SIM contact, beacause once you have transfered your contact list to your phone, in contact list of the phone, it showed duplicated contact.
sorry for my english.
thank.
Any one?
Do i in the wrong forum or section?
NO, SIM Contacts are basic information, it would serve you better to just add your contacts using outlook if you have it, back up your outlook contacts any time you make any changes.
If you don't have outlook, PIM Backup works well for managing your contacts from the phone, just dont restore a backup from PIM and then try syncing with outlook that is already populated, you will get double listings, use one as your primary and the other as an emergency if you use both.
You can hide SIM contacts useing a tweak tool, kaiser tweak unfortunatley has to be adjusted after each reset for that setting. There is another tool similar that does work even after resets, just becareful using it on a kaiser, I ran into some sereous crashes adjusting things that varied in the kaiser with it, Unfortunately I cant remember who made it (Dutty tends to load it up in his roms)
Another option is to use a contact replacement program, I use "Finger Fiendly Friends", it filters out sims, I think Pocket CM filters them also. iContact at this time does not.
I hope this has answered your questions.
I previousely had a Nokia E50, that is not considered "Enterprise" enough by WM6 users, But it had some basic features missing in WM6 Smartphone, does any one know how to overcome them:
1. I can not only Send mails, its always send & Recieve.
2. I can not send mails to a group of mail ids, I have to select contacts individually.
3. I Can not assign a assign a specific ringtone to a group of contacts.
Is Microsoft Stupid or What? Or do they keep everything for PPC version (I dont know since I do not have one)? Or do they think that they are giving the smartphone edition as a obligation, a social service of sorts?
1. Why do you only want to send mails and not receive. Its not possible as of now.
2. Use the software EssentialContax Pro that can send mails to a group.
3. You can assign ringtones to individual users. To do it for a group try using photo contacts pro. It has many additional features too.
Both features might be supported by one of these softwares, so check on the developers website for that
Re: Softwares
Thanks for the infor, but my point is, when you are buyig an enterprise device, these features should be inbuilt. Why do I have to pay extra for getting some basic features (the price of HTC S710 is double that of Nok e50)?
I have checked flexmail, but its pretty expensive! (in Indian Context).
Re: Why I just want to send mails: GPRS connectivity in India is exceptionally slow, so If I have to urgently send a mail, I wont have to wait for the downloading of all the mails thats in my inbox!
in the advanced settings of a mailaccount you can choose to send/receive or not when you click send.
i don't know if it is only a wm6.1 option, but on mine you can choose that!

Why? Because you feel those features are 'basic'?
I've looked at Nokia E devices, but they lack certain functions which I feel are essential. Main problem for me is that Nokia is not able to sync all calendar / contact information with Exchange. Does that make the E-series 'dumbphones' ? No. It only means that I am not satisfied with the functionality I get in *my* situation.

Correct me if I am wrong, but dont you think there are a lot more people who prefer sending sms or mails to a group of people than those who has an exchange server in office for syncing contacts etc?
Thats how I went about getting the S710... defined some "must haves"
1. MUST sync with outlook (exchange) Calender, mails, contacts.
2. MUST have a normal keyboard somewhere
3. Must look pretty much like a normal phone (size/dimensions)
Now that I have my s710 some new demands are added:
MUST run photocontacts pro (the profiling is simply awesome)
MUST be able to easily have more functionality installed (WM)
Thats about it

But it does run Photo Contacts Pro! BTW I am not using the official ROM, using WM6.1 Clean ROM
I know it does thats why its a new "must" for my next phone
