Possible to make your own ROM ?

Hey!
I was wondering if it was possible to make you own rom ? I mean.. For an example take the WM6 Smart1 rom for the Qtek S200 and then take some apps and put them inside the rom so they installs with the rom when that intalls? And maybe define some settings like GPRS settings, so they allready are configured when the rom is just installed?
Thank you!
~D
yes it is possible, there are tutorials within the threads for each device, probably titled 'cook your own rom' or something similar. i assume it's different for each device due to hardware differences so there is no generic solution
Okay thanks for answer !
I have been searching the forums and found some usefull stuff i think.. But as i see it, it looks to advanced for me .. Afraid of bricking my phone ! Have just installed WM6 on my prophet and that allmost made me sick because i was afraid of bricking my phone..
So maybe cooking is a bit to advanced for me..
Unless there is a more simple way ?
no it's complicated, try looking for extended rom cooking it may be simpler

[HELP], how to port rom?

I ever customized several wizard roms, but regarding porting ROM, I'm a newbie.
Let's think about two scenarios:
1. If I got an AKU 3.x ROM of other phone, i.e., a ROM of Artemis
2. If I got a WM6 ROM of other phone which version is newer than any current known ROMs, i.e., a Hermes WM6 ROM
If I want to port the ROM to run on a wizard, what are the most important files, modules, drivers or something like XIP section we need to port? are there any different steps when porting within those two scenarios? Will somebody make a brief introduction or write a tutorial here?
Bepe, mUn, Faria and other talent guys, I know you're expert on this, please show me your hands and help on this, thank you.
I am too learning this ... seems pretty tricky if not near impossible without proper XIP section. Meaning that if you want to port WM6 to a device that didn't had a WM6 it's impossible ... or very close to that.
Take this as an example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1243434&postcount=172
Not the actual files, those are device specific (xip.bin for example) but a little guide.

Kaiser TLR for WM6.1

Hi,
Does anyone know (primarily ROM Chefs etc...) if the Kaiser TLR (see link bellow) work without adverse affects if i compile a ROM using the latest official ROM from HTC? Ive done whats required to make the "TLR'ed" ROM with the latest build and it built the new nbh file without any problems, i just dont know if it will work properly if you know what i mean.
But if anyone knows a way to rebuild these TLR files could you point me in the right direction.
The link mentioned above

rom cooking question

if i cook my own rom for an rw6828, does that mean i can remove/change device drivers and features?
how hard is it to change drivers in roms?
You can manipulate practically anything when cooking.
It's tricky to change the drivers because you have to know what each one does and replace them with the correct dlls or the result wont be to good.

I've wrote about how to cook atom ROM, that is exactly the same with cooking ipaq rw 6828,.
For non HTC Device, its difficult to find updated driver,. and its difficult to to have a shipped ROM,.
its not so hard changing driver for device, but the dificult part ischecking and fixing the bugs that came with the new driver,.
Hope this help

Which Rom???

Great site but I'm conused as to which Rom I should consider loading on my newly acquired Vox. Could anyone summarise the differences between the different Roms as there's afew available?
Hi - Somone must have an idea???? :-( My phone is sim unlocked/cid unlocked. Can I just download a 6.5 Rom and run Flash.exe, i.e. no need to run UPSL 1st??
Read the wiki man and choose a rom based on the features that you are looking for.
