My callers can't hear me now - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Has anyone else experienced sound problems after flashing the last leaked "Official" 6.1 ROM? I have to almost yell before people can hear me. This only occurs through the phone mic. I can use a bluetooth headset without any problems. Also, could this be related to having dropped the phone about 20 times?
What I've done to troubleshoot:
Security unlocked and flashed one of Dutty's ROMs with a compatible radio. No change. Flashed the ROM that came with the phone when it was new. No change. Reverted the phone to warranty return condition. No change.
Any help would be much appreciated.

What radio are you using?

The phone has been reverted to ROM 1.65.502.0 and radio 1.27.14.09. It's got the official ROM, radio, and SPL just like from AT&T.

i have similar problem
for me it's people can hear me but i cannot hear them, but that only happens 10% of the time, regardless of the radio, and i tried many of them. I have dutty's Apr. 29 ROM.

I had that happen once....after I switched a few different types of headsets...
Id a hard reset, stuck to 1 headset, and upgraded VC to the new one 19213 or something like that

Download and install the Vodafone radio (it works on Orange too apparently) and maybe install a WM6.1 ROM first.
This should hopefully sort it out for you.
this should help you... No Sounds on Kaiser
fixed sound
it would appear to be fixed
have installed a new 6.1 rom with the radio that was suggested and well bugger me it works
thanks to the members of xda developers i have learned a lot and i am very grateful

No service error with 1.64 & 1.58 radios???
..That said I flashed to the WinMobile 6.1 ROM (Vodafone) with it's 1.64 radio but I got a 'No Service' warning (I'm T-mobile UK). I then tried the 1.58 radio, but again I got the same error???
I then flashed back to my own cooked ROM (OS WinMobile 6.0) with a 1.27 Radio and all is fine again.
I know that you can't use a new Radio Rom with OS WinMobile 6, as the phone freezes on boot up.. maybe I did something wrong?? (also there was no sound?)
Cheers

no problems here all working fine but i flashed the wm6.1 first then the radio after

terrible echo during calls

Hi,
I got the XDA Diamond Pro (Touch Pro O2 germany) yesterday.
During a call, the phone generates a terrible, slightly timeshifted echo of the own voice. The voice of the other person is normal and the other person doesnt hear an echo. I have tried it several times with different persons and networks (mobile + landline)...always the same phenomenon...sometimes more or less.
Is this normal with the Touch Pro? Do you also have this echo while making a call?
regards
10mabo
(sorry, my english is probably not the best)
Nobody with the same problem? Are your Touch Pros without echos?
No prob for me. Never heard something similar. What about your signal strength? Do you have good reception?
No problem here aswell.
tried a hard-reset already? I noticed that my TP worked better after I did a hard-reset (more stable and quicker), dunno why though.
Thank you for the replys!
So it seems that my device is not working properly :-(
It´s already on the way back to the provider.
regards
Holy crap! I just got another exchanged fuze and it's having the same issue. I'll try flashing to a new rom and see if that works.
When I first got the phone I noticed that my voice would echo but it stopped happening on its own. I think it was occurring because of bad reception. At that time my phone was having major problems with the data connection also and I figured it had something to do with ATT's towers.
I have experienced this echo, too, but considered it to come from reception problems as it does not happen on a regular basis. I.e. some calls are experiencing this echo, some do not.

I assume you mean flashing another radio rom, right? I have this issue on my Fuze as well. I flashed to NATF's rom, but am still running the stock radio rom that came with my phone: 1.02.25.32.
Did a different radio rom help you??

I had the same problem I think with mine. It went away after a while when I was using NATF v2.2 but then when I flashed to v2.3 it came back. This was because the incall volume went down. So increase the volume when you're in a call and that should fix it.
I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but the same thing has happened to me with both the Fuze and the Tilt. What I think the issue was though was that there was a slight lag between the time I said something and the time the sound came out of the earpiece on the other phone. The other phone's mic would pickup the sound of my voice and send it back to me. Very annoying. The problem was always solved when the person I was talking to switched to headset.
Same issue
I am experiencing the same issue, but it does seem to come and go depending on the in-call volume settings.
Obviously, no problems on speakerphone, which I use frequently.

Stock Radio, Stock Rom, no bloat
I just switched away from NATF v2.3 to aruppenthal's ver2 final ROM and the echo has cleared up! Thought I'd share in case others want to try...

Radio ROM's Tested for T-Mobile/Cingular US. Experience posted, take a look

Decided to make new thread about this instead of waiting for answers in other threads. This experience is based on TMobile Boston area but should apply to TMobile as well as Cingular/ATT in all the corners of US
I have TMobile USA MDA/Wizard G4. Was running on official TMobile WM5 ROM with 2.25.11 radio with no problems for over a year.
Recently flashed to the latest TNT Professional ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414518
Great ROM but got a problem that from what i see on forum some of users have encountered: missed calls
Problem: Very easy to reproduce, leave your phone on but with no activity at all(do not touch screen/any buttons/receive calls) for a periond of 30-40 mins. After that try calling it from another phone, although green button blinks(indicating that the phone is on) it will not ring/vibrate/light up. On the other end it will ring as normal and go to voicemail. If you wake you phone up(pressing top button) it will start receiving calls but will not notify you of missed ones while it was "sleeping".
Experience so far: (these finding were based on latest TNT Professional ROM and might not apply to other ROM's)
Radio Rom:
2.19.11 - No missed calls, below average signal and audio quality
2.25.11(official TMobile) - missed calls, average signal/audio quality
2.37.11 -missed calls, average audio quality, above average signal
2.40.11 - missed calls, average sound quality, great signal
2.47.11 - missed calls, above average signal/audio quality
2.61.11 - missed calls, average sound quality, good signal
2.69.11 - missed calls, great signal/audio quality
2.71.11 - missed calls, best signal/audio quality out of all tested
The fix from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317331 (post #6 - thanks to mmeyer) i did not find it to help in missed calls situations at all.
Question#1: Is there a hybernation mode that is not described in any settings but activates after certain period of time that might be causing the "disconnect" in WM6?
Question#2: There are Tmobile Wing radios available(version 03.07.90, 02.97.90 etc) and since Wing is quite similar to MDA would it be possible to flash those to MDA?
LOOKING FOR RADIO DOWNLOADS, IF ANYONE HAS ANY BESIDES THE ONES MENTIONED ABOVE PLEASE PROVIDE THE LINK!!! IT WILL BE PROMPTLY REVIEWED AND FINDINGS POSTED
Any help/input will be appreciated!!!
try all 2.40.11, 2.47.11, 2.61.11 to find the best 4 ur rom!
ty for your help, but that wasnt really a question i am looking for an answer to, did anyone try to use the WING radios on MDA? or will it just brick my phone?
2.37 has not failed me yet. What rom are you using?
I never got missed calls after leaving my phone on my desk at work for hours at a time. What roms have you tried this with?
you can try to fix this by having your email download more often maybe.. I think that it is either your device or rom or carrier network.
In fact I just tried it now after leaving my phone sitting for about 4hrs. it responded to the call just fine.
In fact, 2.19 gave me the worst problems. I missed calls, texts would not pick up signal after I would get out of the subway and so on. I think it is made for a canadian network (Rogers I think) as itsright(TNT) stated.
Used 2.37 for about a year now on both the east coast and west (canyons in San diego have a lot of deadspots that 2.25 would not catch signal often.
I recomend you get rid of both the rom and the radio.
Ty SVI, 2.37 is the one i havent tried it yet, will do today, to answer your questions:

As for device or network, they both worked 100% when was on official wm5. Will try 2.37 and report here

I experienced the same problem with the 2.71 radio rom. I saw the screen and buttons light up like I was about to recieve a call/text, but then it just displayed one missed call. I reflashed to 2.19 and the problem disappeared.
are you sure the problem is with the radio and not the rom? if you havent tried, how will you know?
2.37.11 missed calls after phone was asleep for 2 hours(passed 2-se on 30min sleep tests) anyone have any other Radios(61, 65, 83) i can test?

I am sure ROM contributes to the problem as well, just want to find the best working radio for TNT's ROM, and then do the same for other ROM's i might like to use(like yours). But need to gather quite a few more Radios before i can proceed, perhaps you can help?

Your issue is ROM Related!
There has been extensive testing about this very issue. The fix by mrfrzzz and the warnings of missed calls is all over this forum and warned about in earlier wm 6.0 builds for the Wizard. Seemed like every Rom that came out had the missed call issue, later Devlopment, and the new Radio 2.71.11 came out, This issue dissapeared. I bet you do not get any missed calls with your carriers OEM rom on your phone! If you do, then I would be sending it back.
I sent my Wizard back twice because of Hardware issues.
The Fix by mrfrzzz was intended for wm.6.0 roms so I doubt that it would work with wm 6.1 roms, maybe I am wrong about that but, I still have my Wizard and let my Daughter use it. She never has missed calls and I have radio 2.71.11 radio on it, I have flashed most of the wm 6.1 roms that have came out and again, I have no missed calls or SMS.
I have Tried every Radio and for me, The very best Radio in my opinion is 2.71.11 and 2.47.11. I have never tried 2.37.11 but if SVI says it is good, it probably is.

2.71, 2.47 and 2.37 all miss calls with and without the fix as stated in first post. The only one that does not miss calls is still 2.19 radio which leads me to believe that there might be a later radio ROM that would not miss calls as well.
Currently testing 2.61.11 radio and looking for more Radio roms that i have not tested yet(not in the list in the first post)
2.61.11 bites the dust, so still only 2.19.11 is the only one that works, flashing back to it to test more(if that one fails then its 100% ROM fault)

Hello everyone,
I have the latest AT&T 6.1 ROM, downloaded from the HTC site for the Tilt. Here's a couple of problems that I have, that I can't get search results for.
1. VERY often, when a person calls me and I answer, I can't hear anyone on the other end! The same results when I make an outbound call as well. The device says that I'm connected to the other party, but I can't hear that.
2. When I AM actively connected, VERY often my bluetooth headset will just DECIDE to disconnect! Now, the DEVICE is still connected, but I have to either quickly put it to my ear to not miss what the other party is saying, or, I've noticed that if I push the multifunction button on the earpiece (Jawbone), it will reconnect.
Any help with these two issues would be appreciated. This has ONLY begun since I've installed the newest AT&T 6.1 ROM, which is supposed to be for the Tilt... which I have.
I'm REALLY frustrated...
Maybe try the original 6.0 rom and see if it still happens. If it does, and your phone is under a year, I would definitely send your phone in for warranty.

try changing your radio and see if the problem persists, but i smell a radio problem behind all of this

Without a doubt an issue with your radio version. I had the same issues when I switched from WM6 to 6.1 - turned out my radio only worked w/ version 6 and caused my phone to only work half of the time.

You are Switching from a 6.0 to 6.1...it probably is a radio issue...just go to the ultimate radio thread in my signature and download a 6.1 radio and try it....it will only take a few seconds
the stock wm6.1 at&t rom that he loaded comes with a functional radio made for that rom so unless he flashed a radio that is for wm6 after he updated then yes its the radio
looks like Radio problem.. but if you install the ATT official rom you have allready one for 6.1 windows.. Like already say MSD24200
but try one from here:

i prefer the 1.65.24.36 NIKI Radio
you must select one of 1.65.xx.xx or 1.70.xx.xx
Comm Manager?

Bob,
I using the eOS 4.888 ROM on AT&T and I have the "silent call" issue too. It seems to have come up only in the past month or so. I'm on my 4th radio, currently a Polaris 1.59.42.23. The Polaris Radio seems to make the problem less frequent, but it is still there. My first though was this is an AT&T issue but there is a thread in the Kaiser General section about this, and posts in the Ultimate Radio thread that indicate the issue is occurring outside of the AT&T network as well.
The issue has been blamed on radios, ROM, and bluetooth, but in my experience with it, I'm thinking it might be Comm Manager related, but I don't know enough to know how the Comm Manager interacts with the radio/ROM to really be helpful.
I do know that the person who figures out the answer to this problem will make quite a few folks on this board very happy!!

Same Issue
I am having the same issue. I have the official 6.1 ROM from HTC on the att tilt. I flashed it on a friday and did not notice issues with not hearing the person on the other end when connected until a few days later. I looked at the ultimate radio thread according to that, I have the correct radio for my rom version:
ROM version: 3.57.502.2 WWE
ROM date: 07/17/08
Radio version: 1.65.21.18
Protocol version: 25.88.40.05H
Could it still be a radio issue? Or something else?

It is not Comm mgr related as I have tried several to no avail, Also several 6.1 roms and several radios . No luck.
Hopefully a mod can combine this thread with this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438457 so we can all work on this together.
Can't hear other party......
Did anyone find a solution to this yet? I have flashed all the compatable rabios with the tilt running the official wm6.1 from htc. And I am still making and receiving calls with not being able to hear the other party(as well as them not being able to hear me).
The main function of the tilt is a PHONE!
Hard reset after flash maybe?

It has to do with 6.1 . We are trying to pool all our information on one thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438457
Nika has reflashed to a 6.0 rom, and that appears to have eliminated the problem.
Again, if a Mod could merge these threads, we could all work togther on this.
Thanks.

If it is not radio, then it is a connection issue with your USB port. I had this happen to me and frustrated the heck out of me until I discovered that the tether that is inside the USB port on the device was loose, as if it was cracked. I must have done that while jabbing the stylus in it without using my glasses to soft reset. I discovered the issue by accident when the phone was plugged to be charged and i received a phone call. every time i wiggled the phone the conversation sound would get muted or interrupted. I ended up returning the Tilt to AT&T as a defective device and got a refurbished one that works. Test it and let us know.

Curious problem of memory/file system errors

I have a htc fuze. I seem to be running into a wierd problem of filesystem corruption after a few days. I am curious If anyone else is having the problem. The phone today decided to erase the system folder under windows. Prior to that is was erasing the prog files folder under the root directory. The only difference in where it is deleting files seems to be by what radio I have installed. I used the have the test radio 1.12 but switched to an older radio hoping to fix the problem. I have tried reflashing multiple times but the phone works for a few days and the corruption issue strikes.
Wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before, how did you fix it?
Thanks
ROM Energery ROM 2.0 build 32609
Radio 1.08
I've been experiencing similar problems, after a day or so of use it starts acting up, files not there anymore then after a soft reset it locks up then goes through like I've hard reset it. This usually occurred after being on charge overnight.
I've been using many several cooked roms and the AT&T radio 1.12.25.19 as it has working agps, good battery life etc..
My phone is hard SPL'd, unlocked and supercid, I thought it was a program or tweaks i was using but I tried them with only exchange sync added for my email etc. which I need, and i was still getting the problem.
I've just gone back to my default carrier rom (vodafone UK) still with the same radio and so far so good, but obviously I'd like the speed and improvements of the cooked roms.
Its interesting you have associated the problem with the radio as I have stuck with the same one although I had reflashed it just in case I had a bad flash. I even went to the extent of reflashing hardSPL just incase but had the same results.
I'd been interested to hear if anyone was having similar problems, or is it just we have phones with duff phone memory?
Thanks,
G
Same thing... Every 6.5 ROM does it to me... I can only use the phone for about a day before everything but the Windows folder corrupts (not the Storage Card) and when I SR, the phone hangs during bootup.
My problem is now that any ROM (stock, 6.1, or 6.5) will corrupt the file system after a day. I must admit that this particular phone is a bit suspect. My original Fuze worked fine until the digitizer stopped working. The replacement refurb phone never could get security unlocked (only HardSPL) and has been tempermental to say the least.
XBM won't work this time as it will work for a period of time before it fails/locks up...
Well after flashing back to stock everything except the spl then re-flashing with with a cooked rom and radio everything seems stable so far, it usually dies overnight and its still going fine.
I know with earlier HTC it was always recommended to flash back to a stock rom before a new cooked rom, it didn't always do this on my previous devices and never had a problem.
I guess if it continues being ok, it might be a possible solution for others with similar problem.
G
