Greetings,
I bought a Kaiser a month or so ago, and it seems the best choice for me. Started with Palm devices, old Symbian user, I'm very glad I did this choice.
Fact is, I live in Brazil and operators don't seem to get it: smartphone choices are rare. There is one operator tho (Claro), that has HTC phones but, unfortunately, that's not the one I use (Oi).
Well, to make a long story short, I'm trying to configure my kaiser to use the edge network since it arrived. I also have a SE K790i that works flawlessly with this operator, and I even copied the same configs to the kaiser: no luck.
Funny thing is, it seems to connect to the edge network (the connecting bubble comes up, and the icons change to the "E"). But no data traffic. No app is able to connect to the net.
Since the SE K790i has exactly the same config and it does work, I'm starting to think that the problem is ROM related. Is that possible ? Note that I'm not trying 3G connectivity, just Edge...
Thanks in advance,
Try this...
...Start > Settings > Connections > GPRS Settings. Change the authentication type, hit OK twice and soft reset.

Thanks for the tip. Already tried using PAP and CHAP, no luck either...
Have you tried using the Connection Setup cab? I have no idea if it covers Brazilian operators or not, but it might help?
I've attached it anyway.
Unfortunately, it doesn´t...

I flashed my tilt to an htc rom and I'm now having problems getting on the internet. Is there some place where i could find a cab file with at&t settings or anywhere I could find the settings and enter them by hand. thanks
still looking. thought I found a solution but it was for hermes.
try this network config...
thanks a lot. that seems to have done the trick.
turns out it didnt fix the problem. i can connect to the web via PIE but for some reason I can't get either gmail or windows live to connect. I don't know why it would work for some but not others.
Same problem
I am having the same issues too. IE and outlook mailbox can connect without any problem to the internet. Gmap too.
However, I am having problem with fring and skype applications. Anyone experiencing this issue?
I have flashed my Tilt with the original HTC Kaiser rom.
i think i might have the solution for ya...change the isp.cingular to wap.cingular
I'm having all sorts of problems, too. Very odd. I don't understand how it can work one minute, then not the next.
One thing that has seemed to help is to use the advanced configuration tool to keep the connection active all the time.
It's under Connections > Connection Always On.
Keep in mind, I had to choose MEdia Net. When I chose "My ISP GPRS", I couldn't connect at all....
I'm having the same issue. I didnt notice it until now with Fring. Over WIFI it works, over 3g it says cannot find internet.
I checked and my settings are already on the wap.
So other ideas?
I've also been having intermittent luck with the settings on my TILT flashed to HTC ROM.
One way I got around it for a while, was to connect to Pocket Internet Explorer to get the connection setup, then hop on Google Maps/MS Live Search/etc.
I also had this problem with MiniMo and Opera for a while. Eventually it all just worked itself out I guess. Also, make sure your 'proxy' settings don't get messed up. Sometimes I'll go into the connection settings and the "This connection uses a proxy" is checked... I'll go back in later, and it won't be. Not sure what the conflict is.

Here is a solution.
When you create settings using the Wizard it puts 2 connections. 1 MY ISP and the other MEdia Net.
GO to Settings -- Connections -- Connections -- Advanced -- Select Networks -- First drop down box make sure that My ISP is selected then click ok up top.
Try it and see if it works now.
If it doesnt select MEdia Net as the default connection and edit it, remove proxy and see if it works now. If still no luck remove MEdia Net from one of the connections, by managing existing connections tap and hold and then click delete. Then set MY ISP as the default connection in advance --select networks.
Good Luck.
That took care of it..
Actually what took care of it was going into the media net settings and unclicking the proxy settings..
It was using a proxy to connect but no server in the box. I clicked and whammo works now!
Thanx
same issue
Just wanted to mention had the same issue (particularly with skype) and made the change mentioned further up in the post about changing the connection setting from isp. to wap. and now skype works like a charm, thanks!

I hail from Karnataka, India and I own an HTC P3350 since 8 months. There is a problem with GPRS for HTC in India (some compatibility issue between HTC and network providers in India, I heard.) The GPRS never works but yet i get charged for the kb i download and it even shows up on the SPB GPRS Monitor. That's really ridiculous.
Does anyone else face the same problem? Or is it just a problem with my handset? If its a common prob, does anyone have any solution to it??
Would appreciate any inputs..
Thanks in advance..

You "Heard" wrong.
it would be best if you would describe your problem in detail.
My exact simple problem is that the GPRS just wont connect. When i start something like internet explorer, it attempts to connect and ends up with the error message 'Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.' I tapped Settings and tapped everything i could! But the result is the same.IT NEVER CONNECTS!
My network is Vodafone. I tried searching xda forums and came up with these threads -

Everyone seems to be having the same problem but the solutions offered are only for Airtel Live. I have Vodafone. Can you suggest some settings/reg changes/ANYTHING to make GPRS work on my cell phone. I tried changing the portal name, etc which was mentioned in above linked threads. But none were for any use.
Would appreciate any insight...

Sorry, But you have failed to mention Which WM version you are on.
i'll Assume you are on 6.0 and above and try to help you.
You will have to follow the steps in the Airtel Live Thread to Configure your settings.
(Proxy Setting)
IMPORTANT- After you configure your proxy settings you will NOT be able to use Internet through WIFI untill you delete the Proxy Server.
In Settings > Connection > Advanced Setting you will see an option similar to "When an application request to connect to internet, use this" change it to the second option, after this you might have to reconfigure your "Vodafone GPRS" Settings. (Sorry for being so vague, but i dont use my WinMo phone anymore, however these are the Settings i needed to change to Use GPRS on it.
Even after doing this, not all applications will work.
Poke around, and if you are still getting stuck somewhere, i'll charge my phone and give you the exact procedure.
thanks so much.. i'll try it out n get back.. btw ya my version is 6.0..
I am having trouble with my 3G/HSDPA connection with the HD2. I have a plan with unlimited data and I am not worried about battery life. The problem is that the phone seems to disconnected after a while from the 3G+/HSDPA network and then the only way to get any connection(whether it is for a weather update, email, or internet browsing) is to close all data connections and then reopen them. I think that there might be a reg key that is timing out the connection but I am not that skilled in this. I would really appreciate if someone could help me out in figuring out this problem.
HTC HD2 ROM: AxLor LEO v3 WWE
Manilla: 2.5.19211619.0
Radio: 2.07.51.05_2
first you can try to manually select the network type (gsm or wcdma) and band frequency. for this go to comm manager. then go to connection settings - advanced and enable hsdpa only, then soft reset.
if this doesn't work try to change the radio.
as a last resort, you need to experiment different rom-radio combinations to make it work.
I had this issue also for a long time before I finally nailed it with my current configuration.
good luck mate!
Thanks, I am trying that right now. I also had kinda "nailed it" but then I was having other problems with the rom and decided to change. lol I am going to try different radio/roms if that doesnt work. btw thanks for the quick reply
I had this problem too. Check the connections used...by right there should only be 1 connection for your regular usage. It's the multiple connections that causes the data to stop working, at least for my case.
For example, my network provides 2 connections, one direct to internet, the other has a proxy. However, the default Opera browser always uses the proxied connection for some strange reason, while the other services (Weather/Twitter/etc) uses the direct connection. When the 2 connections are active simultaneously, I find my data going dead until I disconnect the proxied connection.
To get around it, I go to the about:config page in Opera, under Network, tick the "Conn Mgr Auto Detect Network". After that it doesn't uses the proxied connection anymore....but some of the default shortcuts in Opera still do that iirc.
In short, for me, disconnecting the proxied connection makes the direct connection work fine....hope this helps ya.
hey kenkiller, if you're still having trouble with the connection try antaed's method it seems to be working for me. btw I only have 1 connection so that wasn't it for me .

No worries...I've already set mine to HSDPA only as I've noticed that having HSUPA on only makes the download slower...but it doesn't cut the connection off as you've said, at least for me.
Glad you solved it.
Thanks . I am just glad that there are people that care about the phones they buy and such a great website to bring them all together

I see you are in forum for quite long time.
Are you setting the Touch Pro for first time or this problem is just after new ROM Flash

Hi,
I did try this many times, and infact I was successful once in making GPRS run with same Vodafone connection (that was also on a cooked ROM, energy I guess). But after that I flashed a new ROM (dont remember which one), but after flashing that ROM, I could not connect to GPRS till now. I doubt if it is really a radio issue... but I want to know which radio would work for me.
If you know which radio, or know of correct settings, including registery edits or through advance config please do let me know.
Thanks
Definitely Energy Rom were the best i used.
Now i do not have Touch Pro but still i will suggest flash Energy Rom to your device.
What always worked for me was flashing a official Rom from HTC india website then the Energy Rom, this combination was perfect for Call, GPRS & GPS as well.
Do remember to change network type here -
Start>Settings>Personal>Phone>Network
After this there will be no need for any registry change just put following settings -
Start>Settings>Connections>Connection>Add new connection
Name > Whatever you want
Access Point > WWW
nothing else , just finish the wizard

Thanks for your reply. I have network type as "automatic"
Start>Settings>Personal>Phone>Network = "automatic"
and did set the network connection as you mentioned. But it didnt work as of now.
Well, I would reflash the India official ROM and then flash Energy ROM and then retry.. Will let you know.
Btw, what should be the advanced network settings here ?
start->settings->connections->advanced Network
Should GPRS say PAP authentication or CHAP authentication ?
Thanks

This means that full GPRS is not active on your number, you have access to vodafone live only.
Please check customer care.

Usually service providers in India, by default activate WAP service only not full GPRS, unless you recharge with special internet pack on your number.
there are workaround which allow you to use WAP service on windows phone, but its speed is almost useless.
Hi all, please help.
I've got a HTC HD2 that wont stop connecting to 3g. I've tried setting it to 'my work network, but it still keeps connecting. Also tried new modem connection to 'offline', it says that already exists, but I can't select it.
It doesn't cost much, but each time it's a few 'p', once added up it can amount to £1 a day easily.
Is there another way to stop it?
Any thoughts?
Hi there,
I assume your still using winmo 6.5 by the sounds of it
Two simple ways i would recommend, download a free app found in XDA (advanced config (v3.3 i think)) as there is a setting to turn off data there.
or
More simply, go into your apn settings and remove/change the apn name; so for mine i would change "internet" and just remove the t of it.
Can use data if the settings are wrong so it never connects
Cheers.
Yes, am using wm 6.5. Thanks for the quick reply.
Where are the 'apn' settings?
I'm not very savvy when it comes to changing things.
