Wakeup when connected to PC - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hello!
I tested some WM6 ROMs and I always had the same problem. When I put my Wizard into the cradle of my PC it keeps on waiking up. I switch it of and 2 minutes later it switches on again, starts synconisation and stays on till I switch it of again. I never had this problem with WM5 ROM (I only tested 2) and I had this problem with all WM6 ROMs. I tested TNT WM6.1 19199 v2, Pansen WM6.0, German WM6.1 and a last ROM (WWE) but I cannot remember the name. There is only one german guy I know of who has the same problem. The Wizard does not wake up when charging with the PSU. It only happens when connected via USB to the PC.
I use WindowsXP SP2 and AS 4.5.
Do you have the same problem? Is there a workaround? Please help! This way it takes so much longer to charg the battery.
Thank You!
Cyberdyne

Hello!
I have also observatet the same problem whit various WM6/WM61-ROM's.
How cyberdyne has writen: every all 2 or 2,5 Minutes the device is wake up und starts automatical AS, although there are no changed datas or other things for forward/sync.
So i have check in the registry some entrys for timers or swithes, there are tax this. I have only found few entrys, there i mean, the are for tax the AS-WakeUp.
Some times i have think, i have found the right entry. But when i allow one Sync and switch the device off, in the follow the device get's the old problem: after switching of the device automatical wakes up all 2,5 minutes and start AS (after AS the device remains switch on).
In WM5 the device "sleeps" for USB-Charging, if the device is switching off. I will have the same effect by WM6/WM6.1-OS.
Who knowes the registry entrys, there are tax the follow AS-WakeUp's and AS-start's after the first "connect-sync" wenn connect to USB?
Greetings Frank

No answer?!
What does that mean: Noone reads this thread or noone has this problem?

had never seen this before~

are we germans the only ones, they are have this problem?
If it be so, so must it be a problem by german keyboard-change-programs... But keyboard and AS are different things!

Wizard won't remain OFF when USB connected?

I'm running Faria's final edition of WM6 on my Wizard, pretty much stock except for mun's keyboard and a few apps. This rom is almost perfect for my needs.
The only problem is that when the wizard is connected to my computer USB port to charge, it won't go to sleep... In fact, if I press the power button, it turns off for maybe a minute then turns right back on again!
I searched the forums looking for an answer and came up with very little. I do recall seeing some tips for preventing this behavior several months ago but can't seem to find the post anymore (???).
Actually I had this issue fixed on this rom at one time, but then I went and re-flashed about 20 times, trying all the latest cooked versions out there before returning to Faria's. But now I can't recall the fix for the power-on problem!
So, could someone help me out and re-post the fix?
Many thanks in advance...
Don't know of a fix, but this happened to me also when using Faria's ROM and still happens now using the NBD ROM.
Have same problem with Core 2.0n
Same with my XDA ROM. I thought thats a WM6 feature that I have to live with.
It's a common problem then...
Ok, this sounds like a common problem then.
I've been thinking about it, and if I recall, I think the posted fix might have been from mrfrazz or dr puttingham... I'll try to PM them (not that they know me) and see if I can get them onto the thread....
Wasn't from me.
Ok thanks for that mrfrazzz.
How many folks have this problem? Does anyone have a fix?
Sorry, not from me either.
remove the pin password (start -> settings -> lock). used to solve this problem for me on older WM6 rom's. Don't know if the problem still exists in the newer roms...
nbd 7.4 has this problem and also wm6 business edition.
I am using the Dopod Pro 838 [Mobile 5] and have the same issue, when connected it does not sleep, no matter how many times I close the screen off
Thanks everyone for chiming in. So this is a widespread problem.
Is there a solution? Or is everyone just living with it?
For what it's worth, I've searched and searched and can't find that post with the solution. The only reason I can think of is that the post was removed. (?)
Oh well. I guess I'm going to have to live with it like everyone else until an answer turns up. If anyone has any info or ideas post here and we'll try it out.
WM6 TNT 3.0.... same problem
settings, system, backlight settings?
i'm using an enhanced xm6 and i don't seem to have this problem when i charge with the usb at work (no activesync installation). perhaps you may need to disable that, because i recall reading somewhere that activesync tends to wake the phone from time to time to constantly resync pim information.
if you don't like the backlight on, you can go to settings, system, backlight, and change the settings there. I know on faria's roms, the backlight goes off after some time, even when it's plugged into the usb. t-mobile's default rom and the one i'm currently using don't turn off, unless i hit the power button. (but unlike what was initially stated, my phone doesn't turn back on).
or in case i've misinterpreted something...i recall reading that in some roms, the phone would keep waking up due to the push service and it would require some combination of locking the phone to get it working. in those cases, i believe you have to read the respective rom thread. i know farias "the real thing" thread has info on it.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into somehow getting better control over activesync.
Yeah, that's about where I'm at, just turning off the backlight and pretending the phone is off. But it still kind of irks me, all I want is for the phone to sync then go to sleep until I need it. And stay off when I hit the sleep button...
I've had this problem forever, and I consider it a "problem" because my phone is overclocked to 273, and I'd like to keep it off to keep the temperature down. It's definetly not a rom issue, but like someone else stated, it's an activesync issue. Even disabling sync options on activesync doesn't seem to help, only thing I can think of is uninstalling activesync, but who the hell wants to do that? Maybe preventing activesync from starting or running in the background on windows start, until you want to open activesync manually?
This is the random wake-up problem that first apeared in some build of WM5 (I guess). I too can't find much info on it but I guess you could remove the pin prompting. It happens due to activesync/wmdc and usb connection while the pin is enabled. I guess this is a bug in WM6 which is yet to be fixed. Hope microsoft and WM6 team reads this thread.
May be end tasking activesync in both phone and system will help. I haven't tried as I live with it and is not an issue for me.
with PhoneAlarm there is an option to disable the ActiveSync scheduling within a profile (eg profile work no ActiveSync, while ActiveSync will still be usable at home)
Maybe this can help you?
btw, PhoneAlarm has some other very nice features, it's still my nr 1 app for the wizard!

Which release I should take to upgrade (WM6)

Hello out there,
since WM6 is available for my Qtek 8310 I would like to update to WM6.
After a short look here in the board, I see a couple of threads "Release WM6 .... "...
My question now is; Which release I should take? In other words, which one is the "best" ?
Thanks in advance,
Kesa
You should consider these 2
Andot PEE or HTC Edition
Basically HTC Edition is based on Andot PEE with some HTC themes and stuffs only
please apologize my bad english
So the HTC Edition has more stuff ? this one ?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321408
If yes... there's written under "removed" "office mobile" and so on... but what if I want office mobile or for instance the windows wireless manager ?
office mobile is removed coz you can install it yourself via the cab file into the storage card, saving up space on your main memory, same applies to the remove stuffs
okey understood
Well... If I take the Andot PEE version, I can install by myself the apps I want? - and install the HTC Version's apps too ?
[GUIDE] Upgrading HTC Tornado to Windows Mobile 6
Karhoe's guide to convert a Tornado to WM6 can be found at :
http://karhoe.byethost33.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21
I used this wonderful guide to convert my T-Mobile SDA to WM6 last week and it worked like a champ. Everything went well. I had two minor hick-ups that I was able to resolve with research on this web site. As Karhoe pointed out the Office cab files are included in the "Extras" donwloaded and used at the end of the upgrade process. I'm very pleased with the WM6 upgrade.
Everything seemed to have gone well using andot's WM6 PEE, but after a few hours, my backlight on my phone starts behaving badly. I set the backlight to turn off after 30 seconds, but it will just basically turn itself off after about 5-6 seconds without any type of dimming before turning off.
If I go back to power management and set the backlight time to something else, that setting will stick for about a few hours, and back to the same backlight problems mentioned above.
Anyone else have this? I followed karhoe's tutorial exactly, and everything works well besides the backlight issue.
Thanks.

Exitao, thank you very much. That was exactly the problem I was having and the registry edit seemed to have fixed it.

Qtek S200 -No activesync/usb (re)action since upgraded to WM 6.1...

I upgraded my S200 to WM 6.1 and the usb sync stoped working; I still can charge, but there´s no sign in activesync that PDA has been connected.
All is working well, no problem @all, but no sync... The bad thing about that, is that I cannot install/downgrade/upgrade another WM (or any other stuff) because it doesn´t detect the usb...
3 colors boot problems, white screen problems, everything, I solved all just by reading your help here @forum, but for this problem, I can´t seem to find a solution/answer... although I may have seen something about it but I looked everyhere again, and didn´t find the answer.
Everything is (I think) well connected, configurated, etc. I didn´t do anything else besides installing a WM 6.1...
Any ideas folks?
Tks in advance
Nuno RC
I hate to sound like a one trick pony but have you tried disabling advanced network functionality under settings, connections, usb to pc?
Well yes, I´ve seen that advice here I think; done that and nothing, then soft-reseted and still nothing... it´s a little bit frustrating; I don´t dislike this ROM, but the sh#t is I cannot install anything else...
Tks anyway mate :/
PS. I already unistaled and re-instaled the most recent activesync, hard-reseted the pda; didn´t switch the cable because it is charging correctly (and an hour earlier was working fine in sync)... I dunno, lots of stuff..
If that ROM is not working, it may well be ROM specific. Try a different WM6.1 ROM, and make the ROM chef aware of the issue!

TomTom And Diamond2

a support me because suddenly goes into pending the pda while running tomtom, I have done all combinations of energy but still the same!
I use "ttn7.916.9189_qvga_black" on my Topaz together with Dutty`s HG1 rom and it`s works like a charm.

same here with tess 3.9 rom. In fact, since using 6.5 rom, the problem with voice clipping off before the end of the message (usually skipping all distances information) is gone, without even using the workaround that was needed with 6.1 ( silent wav/mp3 looping in background). Very happy about the 6.5 upgrade regarding TomTom (i do not know if the official 6.5 solves the issue, but I guess so)
I know exactly what TS means; I had the same on my Topaz. It is even been send back to Brussels (repair center Europe) and it came back OK. After a week or so, while driving with tomtom: screen blanks. I posted several threads about this on XDA, no solutions however. The screen went blank/phone suspend mode, no matter what settings I used in Energy settings. Even unchecking the boxes (so the phone should stay on, no matter what) didn't help: suspend mode after 30 seconds. After 30 minutes on external power.
After I upgraded to WM6.5, the problem is over.

Vox turns off automatically

Hi,
my vox turns off (completely off, not only display) automatically since yesterday.
Description:
I can switch on my phone, enter SimPIN an can normally use it. As long as i use the vox it stays on.
If i put on the keylock and let the vox untouched for a few minutes, it switches completely off.
The only change i did yesterday was playing around with Navigon Mobile Navigator, FakeCursor and Bluetooth.
I already deinstalled the applications i added yesterday, but same problem.
I also tried a second battery, same problem.
Has anybody an idea or is there like a log on vox, where i can see what causes the shutdown ?
OS: WM 6.5 from Fr. Hottelmann, worked fine for month until yesterday ...
Thanks in advance
Alex
Mh, sounds strange. It usually is a battery problem. Maybe try a hard reset or reflash (maybe also try a different ROM, although I doubt that it is my ROM since this didn't happen to anybody else...yet).
BTW: I have two batteries that don't work correctly, I just ordered a new one.
Hi Fhm, thanks for your reply. A hardreset worked. It seems that Navigon Mobile Navigator 7 combined with the usage of BT Gps causes this problem. Thanks, great forum Alex
