I a fan of O2 to be exact and first timer for MWG, looks like it is kind of dissapointing. Read on the site telling me about the GPS needing at most 15 mins to lock on, but it took me like forever and yet it is still not lock on. Worse is, I even hard reset the Atom thinking could be a software error, to my dismay it looks like it is something wrong with the chip. Called MWG today (singapore) looks like the after service is real bad. Put me on hold like forever. Anyone facing this problem on the GPS? hold I have a similar user out there.

same problem...................the gps need more than 2 hour to lock the satelite signal............help me please............
some tips on it
-the phone must have a working sim card on it, it boost the connection with GPS to satellite faster, the network dun have to be connected to data connection at all, just standby
-used the default GPS utility on the phone first before launching other navigation program, ATOM V has GPS TRACKING program, on it and wait for the status to be ready,
usually if the sim card with network standby mode will let the GPS module to connect satellite by 15mins or less, i got it connected by 2 to 5mins mostly
-everytime you remove your battery from the phone, it will reset the GPS module and requires you to do step 2 again!
if without sim card, it will require a longer acquiring time to satellite. but as long you do not remove the battery from the device, it will not be taking you a long time to connect to satellite.

My problem is not the lag or connecting. But its staying connected. I use quick gps, then gps test, then I start up my gps program. I use TomTom, Garmin XT, and tested out google maps. When I connect the gps will work then it drops signal and garmin say lost gps signal. I have turned on gps test and all other programs off to see what happens and it drops signal and says looking for gps unit. Then it starts and drops. I tried soft reset and it happened again. I'm still messing with it to see if I can figure it out or if it is the phone. Does anyone know if there is some kind of software conflict or if something is causing the error. I have tried the gps programs with my bluetooth gps unit I use to use on my 8525 and it worked great. I really want to get this GPS working and be a little more reliable because this is one of the main reasons why I bought this phone.
AGPS is disabled?
No agps is enabled
Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring or anything I can try. I have updated to the latest garmin but it still doesn't work properly. I can connect sometimes and use the gps. But when trying to reconnect it gets satellites then drops them. On gps test it shows 3d like 8 satellite bars and saying starting gps then losses everything and says looking for gps then does the samething again over and over.
I still have a lag problem but:
Check that AGPS is off (Adv.Config. 3.3 is your friend)
Set polling through the COM interface to a lower speed (4800/9600/19200 max.)
Use GPS test
GO OUTSIDE
WAIT
I got lock with ANY radio though it may have taken up to 5 mins.
I get a lock but then it will lose signal. Or if I turn the gps off and try and lock on later it keeps cycling between looking for gps and gps starting but doesn't go to gps running just goes back to looking for gps
I have the same exact problem. Gps test will connect, then quickly lose connection. Tomtom and garmin will get a signal for a few seconds and then lose connection. This is all outside with a clear view of the sky. I've tried two different fuze's with multiple roms and radios and the problem is still there. I finally got fed up and went back to my e71. This is ridiculous in a $500 phone..
I was thinking about returning it but I did a search and I noticed this is a common problem. I thought it was mainly lag but I see there are several problems with this gps. That sucks because I was really looking forward to the internal gps coming from the 8525/herms. If I really need to get somewere I sill have to carry my bluetooth gps reciever. I 'm going to try some of the tweaks people have suggested and see if it helps.
I haven't used my GPS a ton, but the little I have, it has worked, as long as I am in the car or outside. When I am in the house, it rarely finds a signal. I think that the GPS radio is pretty weak, though generally you don't need GPS when inside of a building.

You mean NO lag?
Isn't GPSLOG = 0 disabling logging? BTW I also changed the registry using adv.cfg. to go to the SD card, not device

finally a thread about exactly my problem, you are not alone... im going to try disabling AGPS and logging, but i have in the past to no avail.... i have done a hard reset since then.
very annoying for such an expensive device
Okay, so heres the problem...
I flashed this rom: [ROM][WWE][04-8-2009][ShEp's Rom Ver 3c][WinMo 6.5][Build 21500V2][TF3D RhodiumV1d]
And after that, I flashed the Raphael 1.12.25.19 Radio.
Everything works on my phone except GPS, for some reason when it tries to use the GPS it goes to the cannot connect screen. it shows Dialed:
I currently have ATT and turned off the internet service with AdvancedConfigTool. I don't know if this is the problem.
Thanks
Do you have AGPS turned on or off? It might be trying to connect to teh ATT network to use the A-GPS but is getting shut down by your internet not working.
Does the GPS eventually connect, or not at all?
some snapshots would be great
I disabled for my Fuze to connect to the ATT internet using AdvanceConfigTool. When GPS tries to work, the Dialed screen comes up and...
Dialed: (Blank)
That's it. In the settings it says A-GPS is on. I'm using Wifi btw.
Can anyone help me...

What program are you using?
You need to turn AGPS off. As far as I know, there is no way to use AGPS over WiFi. You will need to disable it in order to stop the pop-up.
[Q]GPS realy not working.
So, 1st post for me, same problem so i didn't want to open a new thread.
*Not HTC Fuze, but Touch Pro, Raph100, anyway same device.*
GPS, COM4, 4800, auto location on, agps on, does not lock.
Neither on gpsinfo, google maps, igo 8, htc gps tool. It just keep on searching, and showing lots of text in gpsinfo and htc gps tool, but no lock (left it at least 20 mins at the window).
Tried with quickgps, location set correctly, same result. I have stock battery.
ROM: EnergyROM 'Phoenix 2' (21885) |Dec 21
Radio: 1.14.25.05, same on 1.12.25.19.
Didn't test the gps on the original rom because the first thing i did when i put my hands on this phone was to change the rom
No warranty for this phone, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what to do anymore.
up? problem still in place, any help appreciated
I have the same problem. same rom and same phone ie raphael and energy rom 24 dec. i used these tweakings but no use http://blog.mohdimran.com/htc-touch-pro-gps-problem-tweaking/
a help will be appreciated. i m about to try a stock rom.
Maybe post a reply if it solves your problem
up? not solved..
Try different Radios
It happen to me a long time ago a pair of times and now is back (thats the reason I found this post), first be patience a lot.
It seems to me like Radio problem, meens not every mix of roms and radios work nice with GPS and depends too wich country you use the GPS. So let's try and give enough time sky open to build the database and get first fix. Quick GPS can help (keep udated).
Like I said before I'm facing it right now I flash a new ROM and Radio problems began (Included so long to connect a voice call, fail data service, low bars on signal level, etc.) So I try 2 radios now first fix all except GPS the second I can get GPS fix but takes about 15 minutes every time so I will keep on trying I will tell my results.
just in case you can solve it let me know please.
My gps started out working great. I got it on launch day. Then it started seeing plenty of satellites (8+) in gps test but wouldn't use them no matter how high the signal was. Now it only reports for a second and stops updating. For instance, It will view 1 satelite. The signal will go to 15 or so and then nothing changes. I've tried reinstalling gps test in case that was the problem. It still only sees one satellite for a moment and then it appears to freeze. I can't get a lock in maps, even if I leave it on for a half hour. Is there some kind of gps reset or maybe a software cache that should be cleared? It just seems to be frozen or something.
When i had GPS problems on my Nexus one , i rebooted it , or just simply turn off phone and back on.
Thanks for you're advice, but unfortunately I tried that all ready.
My HD7 worked without issue from the beginning of the year til around a month ago.
All of a sudden, my WiFi became extremely unreliable, sometimes taking an overly long time to recognise or connect to an obvious access point, sometimes finding none at all.
After I do manage to connect wirelessly, I see no speed increase in data transfer to suggest that the phone is even using the wireless link. Web pages sometimes load slower than over 3G. I had read that HD7s have trouble using certain WiFi protocols and adjusted accordingly, but the workaround was to no avail.
Additionally, once WiFi has been selected, I cannot switch it off. I am 'locked out' of the WiFi settings page. When I tap it in the menu it responds as if I've nudged it but it cannot load. The only solution is to remove the battery. On occasion, this stuck WiFi has also caused the capacitive buttons, camera and power switch to become inactive. Curiously, touch screen function seems unaffected.
I thought maybe this issue was tied to corrupt settings with my hub, but changing SSID / WEP key etc etc on my router hasn't fixed the problem, and connection to other open WiFi signals jam the phone just as badly.
I upgraded to Mango in the hope that a fresh OS update may 'rejig' my wireless settings into working, but again, no joy.
Anyone experienced anything similar? My final options seem to be factory reset the handset to see if that solves the issue, or return the handset to O2. (Both involve losing all my data, game saves, application data AND the recently delisted SW: Battle for Hoth permanently.)
Anyone got any other thoughts?
*EDIT* After a bit more research, I found that even when the phone has connected to a WiFi source, by turning Operator Data Service off, you can see that the WiFi service is in fact not doing anything.
I braved a factory reset, managed to whack WiFi on no problem, browser ran at appropriate speed, then everything crashed as per usual, I couldn't connect to the marketplace and had to pull the battery in order to use any of the capacitive buttons. I guess it was a hardware issue individual to my phone after all.
Guess I'll give O2 a ring sometime soon to sort a replacement. Not looking forward to losing all my game progress though it has to be said.
bro i m having the same exact problem havent find any solution yet i even tried to copy and replace the wifi files from another clean htc hd7 but useless when i upgraded to 7740 the wifi worked perfectly for 1 night only then at the morning it stopped working, everything else works great. my theory says that its not a hardware problem cz i used internet sharing which uses the wifi adapter (if i m right) so its a software I GUESS

I had the same problem as well, couldn't connect, got to the point where even the power button stopped responding. Hard resets would only help for a short time and enabling WIFI would never connect right and eventually get me back to the same problem. I then got a replacement device, but it's not much better, I still can't connect to any WIFI, but at least it's not freezing up on me. My solution thus far has been just to avoid turning on WIFI if at all possible, but it's far from a perfect workaround. I'm guessing it's the HTC WIFI driver that's got issues.
i got similar problem.. send phone to service problem was "circut board"
replaced working fine...
when i was using wifi my phone was freezing some menus stop working and i have to remove battery
What is usual expected time to get GPS lock in such situation.
My mobile network is off, so no A-GPS.
ROM: Sense-o-Maniac-DeSense v1.1
Kernel: 2.6.35.14-Bricked v1.5
Could not get lock today for over 10min, than i just switched GPS off.
The night before, while on wifi it took me about 5 min to get coordinates.
Switched back to HyperSensarion, with bricked kernel, now o have GPS lock without sky view in a matter of 5 sec.

Acquiring a GPS lock depends on a few things, the rom your using, the radio, your phone (some just lock better than others) and your location.
Download clocksync (and sync it) Download faster fix (and set up your locale) then if you could get a lock prior to using these two apps, then stick with the radio your on, these should help with the speed of the lock.
Just try to re-connect.
Personally i connect anywhere from immediately to a minute, so i'm quite lucky.
It's usually pretty quick though.
My Lumia 800 connects straight away every time all the time Gr8 phone the Lumia.
PS: Oh and getting a lock on wifi is not a fair comparison to GPS.
Hope this helps.
