Hello guys,
I'm new on the forum and I have to congratulate you for the fantastic community you have, the posts are most useful and I have made several improvements to my device with the help of them.
I'm posting this thread because I have the following issue with my Vox, I hope anyone can help me:
I've installed a couple of weeks ago the WM 6.1 rom by Dr Gonzo (thanks a lot Dr Gonzo for your contribution!) and a couple of days ago the device started to not recognize any sim card at all!
The unit is factory unlocked and unbranded, I've tried reflashing the original htc rom and the 6.1 back and forth and the problem still remains....
Sometimes it recognizes the sim card, but after a copule or hours the system says INVALID SIM or NO SIM.
does anyone have experienced the same issue? it's driving me nuts.... it would be a shame to lose the phone....
In the mean time I had to switch back to my ol'relaiable moto mpx 220.....
Any help will be very appreciated.....
PS: Excuse my not so good english, but I'm not a native speaker....
Greetings from Chile!
thts definitely a hardware fault.
you should take that to the HTC service.

Hi,
I am using the 1.11 Rom. Unfortunately, my mdac's audio quality suffers from a kind of distortion. You almost cannot hear it, when somebody speaks soft, but as soon as it gets a little louder it is not very pleasing to the ears.
I tried to have it repaired, but they could not find anything.
So, I had the lady at the T-Mobile shop in my town make a test call.
She immediately noticed the distorted sound. We also changed the SIM to a new one, but it did not help.
So, finally, they would swap the thing toworrow.
But, as I stated....
So, is it possible at the moment to downgrade to a German ROM (T-Mob Germany or even better T-Mob Austria?)
I also want to add that my brother owns the same device, but he still has the German Rom, only the radio update to 1.05 was made...
Thanks for your answers and help, Günter
well, sure you can downgrade... no problem in doing that!
it's the same steps when upgrading but instead of upgrading the new rom use the old one.....!
the only problem is that it seems almost impossible to get an original T-Mobile ROM. But if you have a brother...
@pietrucci:
You mean, I can make an image of my brother's mdac's rom?
And then put it back on my mdac?
Is that possible?

Yes it is! You need ntrw.exe (v 2.0) and a sd-card. With the ntrw tool you can write your brothers ROM onto your computer (if you have a sister with a MDA, you can use that one too! I mean her MDA, not your sister herself ofcourse). And with the same ntrw tool you can make a bootable sd-card with this ROM. And then put it on the other machine. Look in this forum, there are several threads. For example, look at today's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=19500
@pietrucci:
Thank you (concerning my sister, unfortunately I don't have one).
I decided to go with my mda til the T-Mob Update which hopefully should be out in April (they didn't say 2005.)
It got a little better with my new SIM, and the guy in the shop allowed me to use his device, same ****ty audio quality (of course, he had no Radio Update  )
So again, thank you very much
Helooo!
this is actualy my first post though I have been lurking for ages
proud owner of a HTC Wizard about to upgrade to the XDA orbit but thats not my question
recently came across this
http://cgi.ebay.com/CECT-W800-Touch...ryZ64355QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Looks like an Artamis but its it, another CECT clone of the orbit with no wifi but with built in GPS running WM5
anyone actualy bought one? I wonder if it could be upgraded in some way with a custom ROM to WM6?
not too botherd as going to get the Artamis anyway but may be intrested in buying it to experiment
same thought...
but still no answer found
Hi All,
This is my first time on here i've just got the CECT W800 as a christmas present and so far very happy with it. The onboard tomtom GPS works very well and it came with complete car kit and two batteries all for £138 inc postage from China. I've recently found out its a clone of the MDA Compact III, does anyone know of any other issues with this phone?
It came sim unlocked for any network and i put my virgin sim card in and it found all the correct setting for GPRS and MMS automatically.
Can anyone tell me if any of the iphone lookalike programs and skins would work with this phone pls?
Thanks Mick.
Have You eny problems with w800:
- with sms receive ?
- gsm module working after softreset ?

"Can anyone tell me if any of the iphone lookalike programs and skins would work with this phone pls?"
those programs and skins are generaly made for windows mobile and will generaly run on all devices which run windows mobile
Does the w800 have EDGE or just GPRS data? I'm looking in to getting one shortly and I won't even bother if it only has a GPRS radio.
How's the build quality and camera? Decent?

It's only gprs. Camera - phone quality
W800 hasn't any manufacturer support and has many bugs

what a shame... i could get past the bugs since SOMEONE's firmware ought to load on it but if the data is GPRS only, forget about it... too bad about it, the only other phone that I've seen that has built in GPS and doesn't cost an arm and a leg is the Pharos PTL600 for USD $469 with a $50 rebate. That's an ETEN rebrand, I believe.
the CECT w800 sounds (in theory) like a great device, is there a support website for it or does it just come out of a warehouse in Taiwan and that's it? I know CECT makes that knockoff iPhone that everyone has up on Ebay so they should be a fairly major company with at least a website.
I found cectelecom.com and qxmc.com as the Chinese and English webpages for CECT. Oddly enough, they don't list either this knockoff or the iPhone knockoff they sell. I'm going to shoot them an email and ask about the W800.
look this thread
Hi,
I have the CECT W800 and i'm very pleased with it. It comes with tomtom satnav which is very good and 1gig memory card. Try these websites www.cectstore.com and www.sourcinggate.com for more info.
Thanks Mick

Hi All,
Can someone answer does GPS navigation works without connecting external gps antenna.
I'm planning to buy one but i read that you must connect external antenna to have signal in navigation software.
BR
Hi,
Mine works without the external airel but it may take a bit longer to find a signal without it than it does with it, usually a couple of minutes. Where do you live? I'm in the UK and got the phone for xmas and very happy with it, if you need to know anything else about this phone let me know aand i'll try help.
I have this w800 and never used it. It came with its core language in Italian, a language I neither read or understand.
Is there anyone out there with an English rom for this damned thing.
Cheers all.
hi Lekkie,
Where did you get it from? I got mine from china via ebay and came in English, tomtom satnav was in chinese but changed it in the tomtom settings. I don't how you can get the rest of it in English maybe someone on here can help. I'll look through mine see if theres any language settings on it. Did you get a user manual with it? I got English version on CD rom i could send you file if you want, let me know.
Mick.
Hi guys,
Yes, got it through Ebay from some little chinese fella who has no idea about sending a phone with the right language for the country its being used in, its driving me crazy this damned thing.
I did get the manual, yes. That at least is in english, its the phone thats in italian.
Is there a way i could take a copy of the rom off mine and either send it to you by email or post it on here as mine is in English?
help!!
I set a pass code so it would lock and the pass code just quit working one morning anyone know a way to fix this?
hi all this is my first post so please bear with me if i sound stupid.
I am the owner of an XDA stellar and thought it would be a good idea to buy another XDA as a spare. I liked the features of the XDA mini s so i bought a used one as it was faulty and thought it could be a software problem. i have tried different roms on it but still getting the sae message. Have read some posts on here for different phones and some of these have been fixed from this error, was wondering how i can do this model? I have found out from the forums that tis is the G3 model all details are IPL 1.01 SPL 1.05 GSM 01.12.10 OS 1.5.4.2 Could you please help and save this phone from becoming just a PDA. thank you all jamie
???????????
Was Just looking through these forums and i have gathered it may have something to do with the radio rom could i be right ????
lol sorry when i got the phone everything is working except the actual phone part with or without sim card inserted i get the message which says says "Invalid or Missing SIM card" from what i can gather reading the forums on here this is a software problem which can be fixed but i dont know much about the software on these phones except how to install roms etc.

Hi all,
I've been reading your threads about flashing the ROM with the 6.1 version from HTC and read that everyone seems to be having issues with flashing the Orange Branded Kaiser.
I've managed to successfully flash mine with the HTC 6.1 update and get rid of all the orange stuff. I used Olipro's SIM/CID unlocker to unlock the device and success, it works!
I made sure that I had a copy of the radio ROM and the original Orange ROM, which are all available on here just incase. The first few times the phone just booted and locked up on the splash screen, so used camera, power and soft reset to boot into bootloader and reinstalled the orange ROM, all worked fine.
Probably teaching you all to suck eggs as you've all probably achieved it, but just wanted to let you know there is hope, I am a noobie yet managed it. Just wanted to say a big thanks to all of you at XDA, especially Olipro! So, cheers! Happy cooking
gratz mate, did mine last week after reading for a couple of weeks, using dutty's wm6.1 but having problems with forwarding text messages, keeps spamming everyone the same message lol......any chance you can upload the original orange rom and radio somewhere I never made a backup
I've been using an Orange TyTn and from day 1 I have been using cooked ROMs with not a single problem EVER... The only problem I came across was the Radio issues... And that was my mistake because I didn't put a 6.1 radio on my phone... All the people that do have problems are those who cannot or choose not to READ!!! Its by no means the simplest job to flash any ROM for the first time with a TyTn... But start reading the right things and taking it ALL in and you can't go wrong... Even if you do go wrong someone has done it too and posted a fix or a guide which explains everything you need to know to get back on track...

I flashed my kaiser (was on Orange UK) but downloaded the Orange ROM as backup from here- it's in the sticky which points to the wiki

Hear, hear - the issues for Orange users are well known and very well documented here. The main issue of SIM lock has gone away thanks to the efforts of Jocky and co. making flashing our Orange devices a much more straightforward affair.
Some time ago I made a backup of the original Orange ROM which can be found in this thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1586817&postcount=2
Note that this is the ROM and splash screen only - the Radio that Orange ships has never been released in a ROM package, there are other radios available with close(ish) version numbers - see the Radio ROM thread for more information.
we must be carefull with our rulings

I should certainly congratulate you for your successfully flashing a rom on your kaiser. This is the big news of the century ! Two big thums up
But I just don't understand how on earth you got to such all-embracing conclusion that "everyone seems to be having issues with flashing the Orange Branded Kaiser".
This is one of the strangest claims (made in someone's FIRST post) ever posted on kaiser rom dev thread.
As on Orange UK user who has flashed numerous roms on his orange branded TyTN_II (aka kaiser) with unspeakably "less" issues/problems than US/Australian/Malaysian/Germanan/Mars(!!) kaiser users , I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about mate !
Does that "everyone" include you and perhaps a friend of yours ? !!
no offence my friend, but don't you think it would be better to spend some time on the forum before shooting such generalization in the first post??
cheers
Yeah, fair enough that was a generalisation - my appologies! I'll put it down to my excitement of thinking i was a hero for fixing it after it was in bootloader for days! I just read that there seemed to be a lot of issues if you tried flashing it as there is a possibility that the phone will lock you out completely - I have heard of people entering their IMEI number in but not quite sure about it - and this seemed to be a general theme across forums...i probably just read old posts!
Anyway, it was just a thanks than any kind of technical advice! like i said in my post, i got all of the ROMS tools etc from XDA so cheers. There is also a radio rom, the original orange one is 1.65.16.65 which is on here too. I've read that this is the radio shipped with the HTC WM6.1 ROM and orange just used it in their build anyway?
The first time i tried flashing it I didn't want to risk trying Olipro's unlocker, no offence, as it said it changed the Radio which i read was the cause of the issues..but after being stuck in the splash screen for days that annoyingly said "smart mobility"..not so smart when it's a fancy paperweight.. i found out how to get into bootloader and i flashed the Original Orange rom back, and used the unlocker. All worked fine! The only issue was that i use a VPN for work and it wouldn't load the server web pages properly. Managed to fix this after somebody told me about using Schap's AdvancedConfig and changing the UserAgent. again, thanks!
So keep up the good work, you provide hope for plebs like me.

I have searched and searched no answers, am using the radio that was with duttys, no other problems apart from forwarding text messages, seems to spam, try it yourself??.....
Hi Kids,
My wife just got home from Hong Kong with a HTC HD2 phone with what i think was windows in chinese (i think this could be switched th English) and in turn this could then be switched to Andriod in English.
Now I had not asked for the phone so had no idea what Andriod was or any of the rest of it.
I am not sure how the wife did it but when she was do something she lost the ability to switch to Andriod and in trying to reset it I think she has done a factory reset so it is now Chinese OS with nothing else on it no Andriod nothing but Chinese OS. on the one hand she is Chinese so not bad for her but I have been trying to change the OS to UK and start again.
I first looked here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314 but that was a bit over my head and then ended up here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606713
but i have no idea what a RUU_signed.nbh having looked further there is talk of original ROMs cooking and kitchens. Is the original rom a disk that came with the phone ? i dont want to try anything as i have no disk and dont know how to get the original ROm. I really am lost now I will do some reading but I have really been thrown in at the deep end is this tech is completely new to me.
thought please
