copy excel data - General Topics

Is it possible to copy data from an excel file which is open in my pc to a file i work with im my pda and vice versa?

Yes you can. Just drag your file from one device to the other....

Thanks.
I don't want to copy the whole file. I want to copy only some data from a excel file to another excel file.Any solution?

You need to find an app that while you ppc is connect to you PC, it will allow copy & paste. Pocket Controller Pro (Not free) has this capability but did not work with excel. Other than copying the whole file, I'm not sure of a solution.

Does anyone knows any application suitable for thiw purpose (free or not)?

Why don't you browse with file explorer to the required location & copy the total path you get in the explorer bar to IE with file:// in front of it?
Cheers, M
that doesn't work.
I'm making a program for my thesis and it writes a txt file with machine calculations. That txt i want to store automatically on a ppc that's coupled with the machine.
be carefull when relying on storage card file paths. From my experience when you press the off button - after about 20-25 seconds the path becomes invalid. I think the ppc stops using it to save power. i wrote a little app that checks these paths and they have dissapeared for a while after power on.
Why is it easier for you to do this with ie rather than another way.
this works for a file on a storage card.
file://\Storage Card\myPic.jpg
do it with a pic to test, because if the file association on the album/viewer is on it will launch the pic so you can see that it worked. You cant browse this way, but if you know the location it can be of some use
But that's from the xplorer of the pocket pc !!
I want to explore my device true a desktop computer
The closest you can probably get is cecopy which is in the windows mobile developers powertoys. using this program you can copy files across like you would at a dos prompt.
eg cecopy C:\output.txt dev:\Storage Card\output.txt
so you could write into the program something that would call on this to copy the generated txt file across to a ppc. it can also be used to copy files back to the ppc.

you can run ftp or http server on your PDA and browse that one with desktop IE.

How to access pocket pc drive via RUN?!

How do I access pocket pc from run window in windows (Start Menu> RUN). I mean, how can I find the IP of my pocket pc or the drive letter!?
Oh! Now I see what you mean! Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no UNC path to the device's file system. There is a file around here somewhere that lets you use the device as an external drive and I'm guessing that shows up on the PC as a drive letter, if that's of any help. But without any help, the only way I've ever known to access the file system is through the RAPI API programmatically or via ActiveSync for explorer. Sorry for the earlier confusion. If you want to check out that file, it should be easy to find with a search.

Program to open CSV Format File?

Guys,
Just to check whether anyone know of any program or application which can open CSV Format file directly from our HD2?
Do share if you know of any, thanks.
Have a look at this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614019
That broke my mind.
You can give a try to SpreadCE wich is far better than excel, this software can deal with graphs and macros unlike excel and of course CSV. I use it all the time, works fine on HD2.
You can get it there:

[Q] Copying files to/from TF

Hello guys,
I have an Eee Pad TF with the latest 3.2 update. I have problems copying/cutting and pasting folders with a reasonably large number of files in them (mainly pictures) to the TF from PC via WiFi and also from the TF to my NAS (WiFi) or also microSD. It seems the copy stops at some point and skips or leave out some of the files. I tried with File Manager HD (updated last night), ES Explorer, File Expert, etc.
It is frustrating as I never know if the copy has completed successfully without comparing the folders content and still I don't trust just a file-count control.
As anybody come across any similar issue? Is there a way to compare folders like in total commander? Is there a log to be checked after copying large amount of files?
Thanks a lot!
The only solution I've come up with is to either create an FTP using the PC and copy it over by downloading them with FileZilla. Or you can use USB and enable USB debugging and use "adb pull" command to download everything. Another option is to use DropSync PRO and sync the picture photo with dropbox.
Three situations that you have to find out.
1. large number of files can be transferred from/to between SD and MicroSD, but not via WiFi...wifi not stable.
2. large number of files can be transferred from/to via WiFi, but not SD and MicroSD...cards not stable.
3. Both WiFi and Cards coping are not stable...use other File Manager App. ( I use File Manager HD also, but I seldom transferring large numbers of files.)
I've noticed this too while using file expert to copy large files and folder locally, ES file explorer did have this problem but it seems to be fixed now. I've always found that root explorer always works perfectly in this case.

[Q] Export S Note Audio?

Anyone have luck extracting stuff from SNB files, or just exporting the audio from S Note? I have been taking all my class notes in S Note this semester, and while I can export my writing to PDF, I can't export the audio in case I want to do something with it later.

A possible solution, from a Windows PC. Sync your .SNB files to a PC somehow (Dropbox, USB cable, etc.). On the PC, change the .snb extension to .zip. Windows Explorer can then open the resulting folder. Hopefully you will find a usable audio file in there, if Samsung is using a standard audio format. But I haven't used this find audio, I just played around with it to see if changing it to .zip was a way to access the notes images without converting. It wasn't, as the note image I found was sized more like a thumbnail than a readable image.
Hope that helps.

EDIT: Just tested this with audio. Yes it works. The folder should contain another folder titled 'Media,' in which you'll find an .amr file that I was able to play on my PC with QuickTime.
rename files from .snb to .zip then open in explorer
that will solve your issue. go into the snote folder in the zip file and then the media. the .jpg files will be images of your notes.
Thanks
rename .snb to .zip
Thanks, works great.

Can I ask you how you knew (other than playing around with it) to change the extension from .snb to .zip? Just trying to wrap my head around why this works.
Thanks.

Well, when you are dealing with an unknown format for the first time, it's always helpful to open in a hex editor and check for the first bytes, which usually act as file header to indicate file type.
in .SNB file case, this translates in ASCII characters PK
which means its a package file... from where you can try to unpack it; i.e. unzip it in case it's a zip package.
or you can always have 7Zip as your best companion, and first thing that comes in mind is to try and open it as a package through the context menu to see what is there.
Then normally you should look for an xml file or any structured format file that lists the content of the package.

PK = Phil Katz

Just to set the record straight, PK does not stand for Package - it stands for Phil Katz, the inventor of the Zip format. The original program (on DOS) was called PKZip and it quickly became the standard instead of ARC ("Archive") files that had been invented by SEA (System Enhancement Associates). SEA sued Phil Katz because of his clone of their tool (and use of their trademark), which he called called PKArc (later renamed to PKPak).
So he started over and created the competing Zip format that eventually prevailed (he open-sourced the format). Unfortunately, he had a troubled life and died from an overdose of alcohol. You can read about it more at the PKware web site, wikipedia and many other sources on the web (including a somewhat angry diatribe by the founders of SEA).
It works
Thank you Very much.... Finaly i can copy my poems to Ms Word...
Thanks again...:good:
You can directly download S Note Desktop Application as of software from Samsung website. R.O.F.L.? Hi how high are you doing? R.O.F.L.? Cheers.

There are other online arguments too about .snb and none of them is perhaps aware of that, except one as he eventually said that you can install it on Windows 8 as of perhaps and later. But you can install it in earlier Windows for i did and it did operate at its' best practice. R.O.F.L.?
