MS Voice Command stubbornly refuses to work properly.
It works fine for calling contacts, starting apps, querying calls and apponitments, checking battery life etc.
However it will not behave when I use the dial command.
If, for example, I say, "dial 0845 123 456"
It gets it wrong....and I mean EVERY TIME ! Normaly it will try to put a couple of ones in after the 0, so it will repeat back to me "011845 123 456" or it will drop the first zero. I have tried saying "zero" instead of "oh", leaving gaps, not leaving gaps etc.
I'm wondering if it's because it has some internal logic that says that 0845 is not a valid US dialling prefix or the number is the wrong length.
For instance it will not, in my experience, dial 448, the number for Orange Premier Customer Services, or any three digit number for that matter.
Anyone else come across this or found a way round it.
I have the exact same problem.
I'm wondering if maybe this is why it is not available in the UK as yet? Maybe we should speak with an American accent ?
voice command
Have you tried the new v1.50? I had same problems since upgrade huge difference plus now has voice caller ID! Released not that long ago hope this helps
Yes, the logic was designed for US numbers only, which is why the product is not for sale outside US & Canada.
I'm using Fonix VoiceCentral 3, it dials all the numbers starting with 0* and it has a UK Voice pre-installed along with other US voices (Ursula, Paul, Rita ...).

I thought as much
Try Fonix Voice Central
Try Using Fonix Voice Central 3.0 it supports UK english accent !
To dial a UK number, if you want to dial 0845 123 456 then you need to say:
dial +44 845 123 456
ie, drop the first 0 off, then add +44.
Works a treat...
uk version is now available, hopefully you will be able to voice dial UK numbers properly now

How does one use the voice dial using voice tag. I have recorded the voice tags, but every time I try to voice the voice command tries to find its own match, which is mostly wrong since most names I have are Indian name. Any help how to dial using only voice tags that I have recorded. In the earlier phone which had WM 5 this was not a problem.
After a struggle, I have successfully paired my NS with a Parrot CK3000 Bluetooth car kit. This is great because I can now activate the voice dialer from my steering wheel... however, the voice recognition on the NS voice dialer is less than useless!!!! It does not recognise names very well and you end up calling random people. Trying to "Call Sam", always ends up calling Simon. I have tried changing the voice settings to English UK (preferred), English Generic and US but no joy.
My old WM device had excellent voice dialing, worked spot on every time. At least it asked you first if the selected contact was correct! The google voice dial app just dials straight away!
Is there a better voice dialer app? Preferably one that doesn't involve active data?
Moved to Q&A
Sorry Thought this was an app question
I never use the voice dialer app, but I use the Google Voice Actions to say "call Sam" without problems. I don't know if they use the same voice engine, but you might want to try. I think it's actually called the Voice Search app. Must be US English for proper function.
Actually, might not be a good solution for you, since you have to hit accept key on the phone, so not true hands free.
I know guys will say they use Vlingo and such but Vlingo is slow and much too complicated for voice dial. What seems to be the issue with Android and voice dial. There doesn't seem to be quality voice/bluetooth dialers out there. I have the original voicedial apk which will crash constantly. Choice dialer gets it wrong most of the time. Vlingo takes too long and seems to want to have a conversation with you. Anyone know of a good bluetooth voice dialer? I'll pay for it if need be. I don't want a "speed dialer" where I have to go in and record my voice for each contact, that sux...
I got a real SIP phone and a DID for incoming calls from one of those places giving out free DIDs.
Using Google Voice to forward to the DID number, I can now accept incoming calls and trigger outgoing calls from the website (they ring first my phone, then the destination).
I would love it if there was a way to trigger a callback from the SIP phone (even if it is to a fixed number, since I could use my skype dial in number).
Any help what the best way would be to achieve this?
There is so much conflicting info and I admit that I know nothing about PBXs or anything (so some of the guides also make little sense to me).
Could definitely run some software on my (windows) server or on my dd-wrt router.
Thank you in advance.
