Vncviewer? - General Topics

Hi guys,
I had a vncviewer used to work perfectly in wm5, but since I updated my kaiser to wm6 and lately wm6.1, it's not working anymore. I've been doing some search in xda-developers and google, trying to find a working version for wm6.1, but no luck so far. Anyone knows where can I find one?
Thanks advance!

Did you try the commercial (and much better) alternatives like Parys Technografx' Pocket Office? See my related Bible at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC!

Thanks, I will check it out!

there is also www.z2software.com which I use and think is excellent but if you do not need the functionality then there is the free remote desktop that came with your phone, I am attaching it for you in case you don't have it.
at your computer end to use the same software you need to go
start -> programs -> accessories -> communications
and
you will also need to go to system properties (hold down the windows key and press the pause break button) then click on the remote tab to enable remote connections to your computer.
ohh and watch out for firewalls both software and hardware in your router.

Thanks man! I know I can use this with one of my pc, which installed win pro, but I have another one with home edition, don't really know how to enable the remote function. I use vncviewer to remote control the home edition through vpn tunnel.

With the Home Ed, you can't use RDP, as has also been explained in the Remote Bible above (have you checked it out?)

I have checked out your wiki page, it help a lot, thanks!

It does with a bit of work.
This is how you do it:
- it works!!!!
In the directory you installed the Mobile Developer Power Toys, find the "Activesync Remote Display" directory and RTFM ......
Basically, all you need to do is copy the two files in "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\devices\wce400\armv4t" to the \WINDOWS directory on your WM5.0 device using ActiveSync.
When you fire up the shortcut for ActiveSync Remote Display on your PC, it *****es that "The OS or CPU of this device is unknown to this application" - just click OK and your WM5.0 display will appear in the main window!!!! The first time that you start and stop the remote display, your phone/device will give you the "This program is from an unknown publisher...." message, so just say Yes and it won't ask you again.
The only caveat is that you seem to get the remote display icon (windows logo in a circle) in the notification area (where the battery and screen rotation icons are) one position to the left each time you stop and start the remote display. No big deal, but can look a bit weird after you've stopped/started about ten times
Give it a go - the quality of the display on the PC is as crap as ever (and zooming it only makes it worse), but it's still nice to be able to compose a message reply on a full size keyboard from time to time
Cheers, Mark.

Excellent, thanks
works like a charm..
Do you know why they got rid of some of the toolbars and buttons on WM5?
for example, there is no send and receive button on the outlook window, and no speed dial button on the phone window.
Thanks

Remote Connection

Hi guys,
I've flashed my phone with the .405 euro firmware however seem to have lost remote desktop, does anyone know where this will be or how I can find the cab and reinstall it?
Many thanks.
You have this one:-
http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Omnipresence
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425627&highlight=remote+desktop
but i haven't tried either yet.
Let me know how you get on plz
ta m8,
The real windows remote desktop is definitely best because windows will scale all your windows and is really responsive, however you may have concurrent login issues if you try to use your pc at the same time!
The other is more like VNC where you view an existing login, however that then begs the question why not use a mobile VNC program as it's well established and more supported. I'd say the good thing about omnipresence is it attempts to use touchflow navigation concepts but at the moment the response is slow, could be good in the future though.

That might explain, that when I try and remote onto my PC it tells me the UN or PW is incorrect. (I know it isn't).. Is this because I'm logged in?
It should log you out on your pc when you try to connect i think

How did you have to hack Vista plz.. I'm also using that OS, so might be the same problem?
I'm useing RDM+ instead from Shape service.
Much simpler and no need to configure and firewalls.. downside is that it aint free. But then again it's a one time fee, all other upgrades are free.
lots of functions too like file upload and download. And the person that is online dosen't get log out.
Imo it's a really good application.
Again either using RDT or Logmein.com , It says user name or password incorrect.
I know its not, coz thats what I use to log into the system!!!
Any ideas, this is a real puzzler1

highly doubt it... I tried the same things using diamond and diamond2 - but there's no IR port, hence no controlling TV's and DVDs
however, if the can be controlled through a network or bluetooth, there might be a solution

Topaz as a remote for my PC

Is there an app to change my Topaz into a remote control. So that I can change the up volume and that kind of stuff on my PC.
A friend of my got that kind of app on his iPhone so that he can't control his MacBook from a distance. It works with WiFi.
Btw I prefure WiFi because my computer can't do any Bluetooth things.

Where can I find that free version of this app. And what exactly can I do with it?
I found that site with google but I didn't found out wich link (CAB) I need.
Edit:
Sorry I found out which link I need.
I've got it running but not quite correctly
If I fill in a IP-adres and the Internet password, nothing happends. I'm using a router. And got three computers on it. Two by a cable and one with out.

Hi Ciedric...
on you pc there must run the gremote server!
then you could connect over bluetooth or WiFi using the LAN IP of your workstation... and the password you setup on the gremote server...
How do I get a Gremote on my PC?
Thnx for the screen shots
Edit:
I see, it's just like installing Framework 3.5. Get the device on my computer (first run active sync?). Then install Gremote on my pc and it will get my Topaz to.
Is that right?
I've install the single CAB on my Topaz.

I've got it running right now
Scrolling up and down works perfect and fast
Go left and right doesn't work or just a bit.
The whole thing only works when I atache the phone with my pc by using the usb cable.
Hhm still not working correctly. Guess I've should use wireless internet. My pc uses a cable. I do have a laptop running on wireless internet. My router supports both.

Best VNC like app for HD2 ?

Looking for a VNC app for Windows Mobile wich can acces the Pc by the phone ?
What progs are out there ?
It should come with Remote Desktop already installed. That works a treat
yeah how does that work exactly because I didn't really got that working, should I run an application on the PC aswell?
Well i think soo!
The app is there for iphone for example! so there should be a simular to WM ?
I havnt yet found any app, thats why im here
You have to enable remote desktop connections on your PC and then the remote desktop app that comes as standard on your phone will work. This has been a basic function for WM phones for a long time.
(You will also need to allow traffic on port 3389 through your firewall, if you have one.)
This version works fine for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445903
I use .netvnc app (cannot post link but google it its first hit)
You have to ENABLE it for a GIVEN login ID on your PC. You will be prompted for this ID when you use the RDC app on the HD2

i have aproblem with keyboard! How can i open it in full screen mode?
Thanks mate i will now read and try
can you post a link please?
Hi,
I have the same problem with keyboard. When I enter Full screen I cannot activate it or go out of fullscreen mode.
Is it possible to connect with higher resolution than 800 x 480 ?
Is there any alternative client ?
iPhone with jaduu or mocha vnc is great. Why there is no good software for HD2 :/ ?
Hi, im new here.
Using remote desktop has a few problems. Especially the fact it has no keyboard. Also sound is missing. Another problem is that the remote desktop installed to basic editions if windows (on the pc) does not support remote server, it can only be used as a client to another pc. I found a patch someone on this forum made than can get around this problem. But despite the fact mine connects fine, i rarely use it as it has very little functionality!
If it is important that you can connect to your pc i hear vnc is much better for it as it has full functionality. Dont know if there is a similar free version available as vnc is about £50.
hooope this helps buddy
Keyboard: use the on-screen-keyboard or a BTK with your HD2, works like a charm.
Resolution: Fairly sure the answer is no.
Why use vnc when you have RDC, its waaaaay better.
VNC does not limit resolution. That makes RDP useless for me :/
There is another solution but I have not tried it yet
Z2 Remote2PC I will try it today
---
Can anybody start this java app -- VNC+ ?? I only get "press any key" and keyboard doesn't do the trick :/
website
rdmplus . com / vnc
I have tested GRemote Pro .. but cant get it working, and its Damnnnnnn slow
Real NVC havnt found one yet? can any one link?
The Bulit in software in hd2 .cant get it to connect to my pc (No damn good spet by step guide )
