only niggle is the backlight wont turn off without pressing the button on top of the device.
i have ticked the "turn off backlight if device is not used for" box but the screen does not turn off. it does turn down the brightness to the lowest setting.

I could swear in WM5 and the leaked WM6, that I was able to have the Treo go into "standby" mode after a few seconds. I've searched on this phone and can not find the setting. Under Settings/Today/Items there is a "today timeout", which increments by hours. What does this do when/when not set? Under Settings/Power/Advanced there is "On battery power", which increments by minutes. This seems like the correct setting, but after about 1 minute the backlight goes off, but does not "turn off". Then there is the setting for Backlight, which I have set for 30 seconds. WOW! There is just too much goin on here, and I can't remember how to get this thing in standby after just a few seconds of idle.

check the brightness and power settings
Backlight is set to turn off after 10 seconds, which the screen actually dims. Then after another bit of time the screen dims even more, but I can still see the Home Screen. Power is set to "Turn off device if not used for" 1 minute, but the device doesn't seem to "turn off" at all What does the "Today Timeout" do? I have it unchecked but only has choices for hour increments.
"Today Timeout" is for the calendar (how far in advance should the calendar display appointments).
The power and backlight settings are the right controls for what you are trying to accomplish. Have you configured and enabled both battery and external power settings?
Quite frequently when I hit the red button the screen goes off and then instantly comes back on. If I repeatedly hit the red button it just keeps going off and then popping back on. Sometimes it does go off, sometimes it doesn't.
Other times it goes off and then later for no apparent reason it comes back on.
Any ideas?
Turn up your backlight
It's a bug. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this happens when your screen brightness is set to 40% or less. Turn the brightness up, and the problem goes away.
Nice, I turned up my brightness and so far so good...
Thanks.
not the backlight
help
when on battery power my device goes to sleep after 15 seconds (screen goes off) ,when you press on/off button (wake up button) it comes back to the screen i was using apart from when using google maps or copilot i have changed settings in (settings-backlight) but it still happens i dont think it anything to do with the back light. It never use to it, do i need to change a registry setting
Noticed 2x today I walked away for an hour and came back to a bright screen. Both times I had just plugged it in and left it on the desk. I turned the sleep timer down to 15s and experimented a bit but couldn't replicate it...
I also noticed when it auto sleeps, there is no screen lock sound. Though I do hear it when I click the power button. The option is turned on in settings, and I remember my 300's all made the lock sound 5 seconds after the screen turned off. Maybe the 700s don't do it? Or maybe there's a problem with the hardware or not really sleeping?
Does yours make the lock sound when it locks after an automatic sleep?
Please can someone just turn up their volume and let their tf700 stock ROM go to sleep with the lock sound enabled? Tell me if you hear the lock sound when it AUTOMATICALLY goes to sleep? (Without clicking the power button)
I only have a couple days to exchange and need to know if this is normal for the 700
Again, the lock sound only plays when I click the power button, Not when it auto sleeps and locks. The tf300 always played the audio.
When I turn off the screen on my phone, the back light on the buttons are always on. Is there a way to disable them completely? This runs my battery out, and I need battery life the most on the Skyrocket. Anyways, not sure why this is programmed into the rom, but needed some help turning it off. I would prefer to leave it off completely, even if the screen is on. Anyways, thanks.
Go into device specific/sensors/and toggle 'Enable Keys Backlight' and/or 'Enable Keys Notifications' off. The lights won't follow the screen on/off, but you can disable them that way.
