changing operator name into day of the week - General Topics

Hello,
When you are using the HTC Home plugin, you normally have the big digital clock and above it you have the operator name on the left and the date on the right.
Now my intention is to change the operator name into the day of the week.
I tried to change the registry operatorname in hklm\system\state\phone into dddd, but no luck as I was suspecting it already.
The problem by just changing a registry is when you do a softreset or disable and then enable the phone again, the original operator name comes back.
Does someone know if you can modify the home plugin to be able to replace the operator name registry with a date registry ?

you can do that using mortscript or a third party application coded specifically for that.

I am very interested in this as well - I'd really like to have the day of the week at the top of the HTC Home plugin, so I don't have to waste a line above it using WM6's day display.
oldsap - what exactly would you do with a mortscript? Use it to edit the registry key every boot/time the phone is connected?

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\
Now go to :
Dialing\Script
Erase the "p"
You can also do the same for hangup, etc. The mid file is called "dpadctl.mid"
Of course, as with any registry change, soft reset using a 3rd party app (just to be sure)
works perfectly, thanks a lot man

Hello Patmannyc:
After reading your answer I can see you know a little bit about registry tweaks on Palm 750.....
Do you have any web page where I can have specific treo 750 tweaks since pages I have founded are for standard Wm5 devices and most of the tweaks do not work properly
Thanks in advane
Lemmon
Depends what you want to do.
Most Wm5 registry hacks also DO work with the treos. For any treo-specific tweaks you can look @ www.ppcgeeks.com, there are plnty there.

Registry tweaks?

Hi,
does anyone have any fun/useful registry tweaks to share? Should be a few new ones in WM6?
One thing I would like is a more "zoomed out" view in the calendar. Now it shows 8 hours and jumps up and down as you move between calendar entries. Tried the old registry changes to set working hours between 8 am to 10 pm but it doesn't seem to care about those settings.

or a tweak to deactivate the Call-Start-Tone...
AGREE!
that annoying tone when you press send HAS TO GO!
Anyone ?
No registry tweak but if you make a new file callstart.wav that is blank and replace the old one then all is still happening but you don;t hear anything.
if you go to LU/ControlPanel/Sounds/Dialing. Go to Value: Sound. Here you can change or delete the tone.
Also a lot of other sounds can be changed here.
Good luck
I made a tool called AmpTweaks for WM5 that has the option to remove the call sound.
That tweak should work for WM6 also.
http://www.ampcore.dk/Product.aspx?id=1
Basicaly any WM 5.0 Reg tweak should work you know....
Disable beep at start/stop of a call...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
InitVol = 0
Remove white HTC Startmenu background (Speeds up launching of Startmenu):
remove
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSStart -> BKBitmapFile
Edit: removed bull**** by me

Keyboard Light

I am having an absolute FIT with the damn keyboard light on my 750! It gos off after about 5 seconds, and THAT is ridiculous! I was told by a source at Palm there IS a registry entry to fix this, but he could not divulge the info (I did tell him I was open to receiving an anonymous email, but haven't seen it yet!)
Anyone have any ideas? He said it was the same one that worked on the TyTn/Hermes/8525 but I have not found it yet....
Help??
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyLedTimeout. The number of seconds is usually set to default at 10. you can make it any number you like. Mine is set at 20.
I wonder if this also relates to my current issue too - can anyone comment?
The backlight on my Treo 750's keyboard refuses to come on IN USE - however I'm fairly convinced it's not a hardware issue; when performing a soft reset the keypad lights up fine during the boot cycle.
It's as if there's a registry entry that sets the "turn off keypad light after" value to 0 (i.e; always off).
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Steve
Found It in WM5
I traded in my WM6 phone for a Treo 750 with WM5 - wow, everything is where it should be, and the phone works the way it should!
As far as the On-Off issue, Steve, I see that in line in my phone - the key is set to 1, so I would try changing that:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyOnOff change it from 0 to 1
Let me know - this could be my first crack at helping someone else out!!
I have a question. I can not seem to find the registry edit area for the Treo 750 running WM6. Can you help me in giving me some instructions on getting to this so I can edit the file to keep the keyboard lights on for longer than a few seconds?
on my kaiser it's set to 30 by default.

Hi there,
There is no default registry editor on WM devices, so you will have to install one if you want to make any changes. You will find a few built into well known commercial apps such as MemMaid and Resco Explorer (I've used both and they work fine on WM6). There may also be some free ones around.

Display is too dim when unlocking

When I lock my Orbit II/Touch Cruise the display is automatically dimmed - standard procedure, I assume. When I come to unlock it, in anything except a darkish room indoors is is very difficult to see the display sufficiently well to type in my unlock code. Is there a way to have the have the display bright when coming out of standby when the lock is on?
Regards,
Bob
this cannot be changed !!! cause configuration comes with rom [email protected] least i guess ---
I use an excellent auto-locking program that can be configured to light the screen for a few seconds to allow you to unlock it.
You can find it here:

I use throttle lock. Very cool app, and very ligt >>> http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/downloads/34-public-releases/65-throttlelock01http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/downloads/34-public-releases/65-throttlelock01
Change the Locklevel
Hey Man!
Use eg.the registry editor from schaps and rename LockLevel to LockLevelX
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel =>
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevelX
Reset your device and be happy!
This works fine for me and activating the device happens in full brightness

Changing the name in the registry works fine. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the tips (and the other folk too) - I'll get the registry editor and try that.
Dim backlight on Orbit 2
I take it you're still running the O2 today screen?
Load the HTC.Kaiser.Home.Eng.0409.6Tab.sch Home screen and Slide to Unlock (S2U2-1.05-WM5.cab) and you won't have problems again.
No need to fiddle with your registry or buy a registry editor either.
Search the forum for both the above files but make sure you download and run the specific file above for your Orbit 2 or else the backlight adjust tab won't work.
get the 6.1 update and this is all sorted out in it

Is the home screen essential to the process? I use WindowsVistaBlackQVGA and don't want to change it.

Running the Windows Update says everything is up to date, so I assume I'm already running 6.1 - I can't see a version number anywhere to confirm. "About" says Windows Mobile 6 Professional and a build number of CE OS 5.2.1623 (Build 18129.0.4.5) If there's another way to update and it would fix the problem that would be the way to go.

Just to confirm that it is the DIRECTORY name "Locklevel" that needs to be changed, not the Locklevel entry in that directory :-
Name Data
Default (value not set)
Locklevel 0
Perhaps changing the value of Locklevel from zero might have a similar effect?

NoData.exe.... What reg keys does it use??

As the title says....
I need to know what reg keys NoData.exe uses....
Anyone know?
Thanks in advance..

yeah, its just one line (only difference btw. users is the connection name and id). for me its:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\UMTS\Enabled
i dont need nodata, since it doesnt make much. just switching the value from 1 to 0.
i created a mort script in combination with a homescreen button where i can toogle with one click. additionally it disconnects after disabling 3g. very clever done by me =)
