Hey i've been using this 8gb microsdhc card for a few days with no problems....
well today i added a bunch of songs to my phone, but when updating my library in wmp, the update process froze, and i had to perform a soft reset....
ever since then, the card seems to be dead....it freezes my phone if i try to access it, and when i plug it into the usb reader and into my computer, when i try to open it, it says "Please insert a disc into Removeable Disc D:"
i've tried to format it within windows, but it once again tells me "Please insert a disc into Removeable Disc D:"
i've tried a low level format tool, which cant even find the card...is this card dead?
also i have another seemingly dead 8gb microsd card....however this one lets me do a low level format, but then when trying to format a partition, it says windows cannot perform the operation....
is my phone killing these cards?
i'm using an AT&T 8525 with Pays Lite Rom v3.05

Have you tried using MemMaid? Although the card must be in your phone, you can perform such tasks.... Give it a shot at least. Link in my signature......
Thanks for the reply...
i tried memmaid.....it couldnt even detect one of my cards
i tried card two, and it detected it fine, but when trying to format it gives me this error instantly "Error occurred while formatting 'Storage Card'"

Hi all,
I have a MicroSD card, which has been working fine before.
All of a sudden it stopped working, being not visible in card readers.
- Computers (XP/Vista) with an external card reader, show the drive letter for the reader, but just to tell me that there's nothing inside there.
- Several Windows Mobile 6 devices don't show the inserted card.
- Symbian S60 devices recognize the card as 'a card', telling me it's corrupted and ask me to format it. At an attempt to do so, it asks me if I want to continue, since other programs are using the card (which is not true). After saying "Yes, continue", nothing happens and the phone keeps saying the card is corrupted.
- On one Vista PC with a front panel card reader, the 'My Computer' window freezes when trying to open the drive, representing the front panel where the MicroSD card is in. Same for right clicking it in an attempt to format. When I take out the card, 'My Computer' instantly unfreezes.
It seems that that PC somehow 'sees' that the card is there (unlike the PC's where I use an external card reader for).

As you can see, a lot of different things, yet none of them offers me a way to format the card for use again.
Who has the solution here? Are there any magical tools/tips/tricks to save my card (a format would be no problem) or is it done for?
Thanks!
not that i know off many SD cards seem to die young
and the whole format was never made to last ages
which i guess is why sandisk made this

if it'd under warrenty return it otherwise i'd sugest you flush it down the toilet
Hi,
Just few hours ago, had power down while downloading files by activeSync to my HTC pro. Right after my SDHC (8GB) card became unusable. Had to hard reset my phone, but even after that I cant write to it and cant modify it, but i can still see all files on it while connected by activeSync.
HTC FileExplorer cant delete a single file, same with Resco, and Pocket mechanic is unable to format card.
Is there any way to format this card, or should i just bin it and buy new one?
try formatting through pc using a reader, they're pretty cheap

I believe you can hook up your device in storage mode, and reformat via windows. Or as stated above, use an external card reader. Either way of sounds like your data is toast. Good luck^^
well, i cant use it as a drive, cause windows shows its empty now. I mean, blank, unreadable and freezing windows to be more specific.
Had to remove card from the phone, as it was slowing it down so much, that it was practically unoperatable.
Card reader gives me only error message: cant read. I/O error.
But during activesync connection i can see all my data and folders there. Just cant modify them/delete/copy new/format/and or read exisitng ones.
So, i just wonder, is there any, slightest chance to format this card somehow, or i can only scrap it?
Maybe some kind of low level formatting utility for HTC?

Pocket Mechanic might do the trick?
i think i will give up and buy new micro SDHC card....
Pocket mechanic, Memmaid, and file browser cant delete any of the files on my card, cant erase it nor format it.
After connecting to PC, ActiveSync shows card properly, but i cant modify it, or even copy files from it to my computer.
Standard Windows XP Format utility cant format this card, same with HP USB format tool.
Only program that can gain acces to this card is Paragon Partition Manager, so was able to copy all the files from my card to PC, but even this program is unable to format it, or delete partition.
It seems that my card became "read only".
Maybe someone knows Windows program allowing to operate on problematic SD cards?
Hey all.
FIrst off I dont recommend this phone. haha, that being said...
I just bought a 16gb microsd card for it. I was able to install it and transfer a bunch of tunes over. Then when I disconnected it from the computer, it has a little sd card icon with a sprocket at the top left of the screen and says "checking for errors". As a result, I dont have access to the info on the sd card > music contacts photos etc.
Its been 12 hours or so and this status has not changed.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue? Has it "farted" or do I just have to wait...
Thanks.
Have you tryed turning the device off taking the battery and SD card out then putting it all back and turning it back on, had issues with my phone not recognizing my SD before and it worked for me, just give it a try and see.

Thanks, but tried that many times...
I did try removing the battery and card multiple times to no avail.
I even sacrificed my programs etc through a hard reset. As soon as the reset completed, I have the same notification about the sd card.
Some details...
When I first inserted the 16gb SDHC card, the phone acknowledge its presence and I formated the card in the phone. It said there was over 15gb available... all fine...
I then was able to que it up with my pc through the USB cable and transfer about 8 gbs of music to the phone... transfer when fine.
Upon removing the phonne, it started with this "preparing sd card, Checking for errors" nonsense.
I am firmly convinced that there ACTUALLY is no SDHC support on these Acer Liquid E phones. My old 2 gb card that came with the phone works just fine and is back in the phone now. My only other option is to buy a 4 gb card and see if that will word fine, as 4 gb is not considered SDHC. then step up again to a 8 gb card (SDHC) and see what happens.
Does anyone else have a SDHC card in there Acer Liquid E? Does it work?
There is also NO help from Fido or Acer to work through issues...
Really makes me want to go back to the iPhone........ grrrrrrrrr....
Make sure that you formatted it to FAT32 first of all and does the card still connect to the computer using a card reader ? Why don't you try formatting it on your liquid by going onto storage and then unmounting it then format.

Thanks... no go though. At wits end...
Thanks for your attention!
When formatting in the phone, it doesnt allow you the choice to format specifically in FAT32 or other. I can only assume it is formatting in the proper system.
As for mounting and unmounting (what I feel this phone has been literally doing to me for the 6 months i've had it.lol)... as the sd card was stuck in this "checking for errors" sequence I had no access to mount or unmount the card or reformat again. These options were simply greyed out and not accessable.
I have not placed it into a card reader to reformat through my PC. I will try this step next and see what happens. I will have to find a card reader, or perhaps plug it into my camera as the card came with an sd adapter... see if that route will work.
Regardless. extremely user non-friendly phone here in the Acer Liquid E.
Ok so I searched the forum and google and I can't seem to find anything that answers my specific issue. So here are the details,
I have a PNY micro SDHC 8GB Class 4 card I had used on my old Sanyo Zio one day the phone informed me that it was corrupted so I formatted the card with my Zio and after before the phone completed the format it shut itself off and started bootlooping. The phone would not stay on without a mounted SD card. I removed the card and put in my 4GB backup sd card and the phone started to work again. I sold the Zio a few weeks ago with the 4GB card and upgraded myself to a HTC Droid Incredible I turned it on and inserted the 8GB PNY card and the phone would not recognize it.
So I grabbed my card reader and attempted to format it on my PC running windows vista when I insert the reader it picks up the drive but when I click Open it comes back with "Please insert disk into drive H:" The card reader is functional and the driver is up to date and it is in the locked position. If I right click I can choose format and set it to Fat file system and it comes back with the error "Windows was not able to complete the format."
Also if I go into properties it will not show the size of the card or any data on it because its unable to detect the drive. I obviously cannot mount the SD card to format it on my phone because it will not find the SD card at all. I've heard there is a way to format using Linux but I am not familiar with Linux but I am an experienced user with PC and by no means incapable of learning I know my fair share and can learn Linux if this would be a viable solution I just need a point in the right direction. Thanks for any help is MUCH appreciated! Cheers!
Card is a Sandisk 128GB Ultra MicroSDXC A1 card.
Card is formatted exFAT.
Card can be mounted, opened, and read/write with no problems via my laptop when plugged directly (SD slot).
Android (LG G5, LineageOS 15.1) says card is corrupt, is trying to make me format. Card initially set up as "Portable Storage".
Took FOREVER to move music onto this card, as artists had to be moved one at a time or transfers would fail, so I'm trying to avoid formatting.
I've tried rebooting the phone, repairing the file system using TWRP Wipe command (fails with error code 1), and mounting with a clean eject via Windows 10 on my laptop using the SD card slot. Nothing has made an impact, stupid phone still won't allow me to use the card.
If anyone has any ideas why this is happening, or how I could potentially fix this without having to wipe the card, I would appreciate it. This thing has been a PITA since I got it, I thought it would be awesome having such expandable storage on my phone (I'm a weirdo who doesn't use streaming services) but I've had nothing but problems so far. I have to be careful with how I transfer files onto the card or the transfer will take an (appropriately) long time, act like it works, but then the file just won't be there. Now I've finally gotten the card loaded up, and after a routine phone reboot a few days ago, the Android OS is trying to say it's corrupt; This is also making me worry that this will continue being an issue in the future.
Running "chkdsk E: /r" on my laptop is revealing a couple minor corruptions inside the directory, and volume bitmap. It's hanging on verification/completing now.
Is it possible that I have a bad SD card? This thing has seriously done nothing but suck since I've been trying to use it.
Edit: Unless someone tells me otherwise, I'm pretty sure this is a bogus/defective SD card. I simply cannot believe that flash memory would perform this badly. I'm going to return this card (bit of a PITA since I ordered it online) and buy another one locally.
