so overall is WM 6.1 faster than 6.0 ? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

so overall is WM 6.1 faster than 6.0 ? iam thinking about taking the leap to 6.1 but only if he performance gain is worth it....any feedback will be appreciated....thanks.

Backup your data and give it a try!
What do you have to loose?
For me, WM 6.1 is super fast! The only thing I liked about the T-Mobile WING (HTC Kaiser, I believe) was its speed. Since going WM 6.1 my Wizard feels just as fast, if not faster.
In every area it is faster in my estimation
Not to mention, threaded SMS is just sweet

Without a doubt it is faster.

Speed differences in the different 6.1?
Anyone notice the big differences in speed with all the wm6.1 compare to "TNT 6.1 real port" that goes blazing fast?

just installed Slim 19199 WM 6.1 Rom and i ahve to say....WM6.1 truly is faster than 6.0

Differences in speed between 6.0 and 6.1 are LESS than among different 6.0 ROMS (or among different 6.1 ROMS). So, 6.1 is generally faster, but some 6.0 ROMS may be faster than other 6.1 ROMS.

threaded SMS is sweet but also slow.
plus more step to erase single sms (must use d-pad to highlight the sms and erase)
nevertheless, sweet but slow (i use it anyway, because like frazell said, it's sweet).

6.1- faster and longer lasting
I know, I know. It sounds like a chewing gum commercial, but it's true. I've found Windows Mobile 6.1 to be more responsive and to maintain battery charge better than 6.0. Here's an overview of some of the changes.
It just gives me an excuse to keep holding onto my trusty old wizard!

Kaiser WM 5 Possible?

Is it possible to port a WM5 ROM to the Kaiser? Apparently its lighter and might work faster on this.

:/
but what you are not looking at is the BUGGY RAM (ram leaks)
the ram depletes like crazy even though no processes are running
this problem does not exist with WM6
eg. in my previous device O2 executive (Universal)
running WM5 initial ram 31 mb
after 3 days 12-15 mb so i have to soft reset
same device running wm6 initial ram 28-29 mb
after 3 days 23-24 mb so no soft reset required
besides the WM5 interface looks ugly as s**t

WM6 in fact... is not a new software comparing to WM5, it's just a very good Service Pack. What does it mean? WM6 is much better and faster than WM5!!! You must be the only person in this community that want to go back!!!
Strange question indeed... it is pointless, and would only generate regressions on your device :?
I am happy to note that the old problem on TyTNs AKU 3.x WM5 with files vanishing from the microSD card is not solved in TyTN IIs WM6. I was playing MP3 files in PocketPlayer, then paused the player and wanted to resume a few hours later, only to discover that the directory was empty... Pulling out the microSD card and putting it back solved the problem and the files came back again.
This took away some of the nostalgia I was feeling for my old PDA.

If you said compare Windows mobile 2003 and say WM5, I might have agreed with you.
But WM6 has *always* run faster and more reliably than WM6 on all windows mobile device I've tried
Wizard user here (looking for upgrade)
I got to disagree out of my personal experience.
I ran WM6 on my slow 200mHz processor and it was remarkably slower than the WM5 i'm now running.
Memory leaks are true though, and I have to reset once a week because the damn thing ran out or ram ... I find this is a small price to pay for the speed i gain.

Maybe not the only one.
I personally think there are some things about WM6 that are not improvements, e.g. dialpad and inability to replace dialpad with a good big button keyboard. After all, this is still a phone, and good, reliable, easy to use dialpad is important to me.

AH!! Cant pick a OS!

I can't pick an OS to use! I keep on going back and forth between 6.5 and 6.1, with and without Rhodium TF3D and regular TF3D.
I want good battery life, and no keyboard lag, and I can't decide which OS and stuff to use!
What is everybody's opinions on the OS's, and what is your experience with battery life and speed?
I like Windows Mobile 6.5, atm I use Shep's WM 6.5 Rom. It works amazingly good, looks much better than WM 6.1.
Just my opinion, use it and Raphael Radio 1.12.25.19 or... try the new 1.14.25.05 (No clue how good it is)
I would go with Da g's 6.5. If u want tf3d then use his kitchen. i really like 6.5
Todd is the MAN!!!
NATF's roms rock. Been following him since the Tilt...
I haven't tried 6.5 yet, but as far as 6.1 goes NRG's Energy Rom is my favorite. It seems to be the fastest one I have tried, and it still has pretty good battery life. version 1.0 has the original TFL3D while 2.0 has the rhodium port.

Best 6.1 Rom for wm 5 phones

I have xv6700 and wanted to know what was the best 6.1 rooms for this phone that didnt have any issues.
depending on your bootloader give my 6.1 rom a try ive had no issues with it
where do i dl yours from?
which bootloader is your Apache?
which ever is the best one for my xv6700 but i do need to back up my wm 5 thats already on here... what software is best for backing everything up
bump.... still need a 6.1 rom that works good with verizon 6700
I think it's wm 6.1 21054.
is this the bootloader or version of the rom i should be looking for
i recommend mr4r4n's 6.5 roms found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502418
i ask for 6.1 not 6.5.... its prob gonna make my phone real slow anyways
he cooks 6.1 roms too but his 6.5 roms are really nice not slow at all and the titanium interface is great for this phone where its low on memory and would have trouble running m2d or spb mobile shell 3

i agree, im using his 6.5 and its much better then 6.1 and forget M2D, now that's a real memorry killer, it was designed for the newer phones that have 3 times as much as the good old ppc 6700

That will depend...
6.1 faster
6.5 nicer but slower
If your device is old and with small amount of RAM stay with 6.1, if give it a try to 6.5 and let us know
I've went back to 6.1 in the past due to speed & stability.

Sprint 6.5 ROM

in another thread titled "How to Flash Treo Pro," a poster wrote,
"Sprint has an official CDMA 6.5 ROM for the Palm Treo Pro, only if there was a GSM 6.5 ROM that was stable for the Palm Treo Pro.
I won't upgrade my Palm Treo Pro to 6.5 because I can see so many issues on the forum's and I cannot find a stock english 6.1 GSM ROM.
On the other hand, the O2 Atom was very easy to upgrade, and very stable."
Can someone verify this and, if so, show me how to obtain it?
Thanks,
quicknight

well that was me that made the statement, I hardspl my Treo Pro and tried all the 6.5 roms, there is really no benefit going to 6.5, slower and has annoying bugs... the only rom I did like was Heechee's Naked, but... all these roms have bugs with MarketPlace and Windows Live which I use.. so I reverted back to the stock 6.1 rom, and Marketplace and latest Windows Live works perfectly...
On the other hand, the O2 Atom Life made a huge difference in upgrading to 6.5, faster response, better battery life.. no bugs.. better UI experience...
On the Treo Pro it aint worth it... don't bother until there is a stable rom out...

thanks for the reply. I don't really use Marketplace or windows live (bing?) so that wouldn't really bother me. So, then, is the O2 Atom Life the "official Sprint ROM?"

No, both my windows mobile phones are GSM, the O2 Atom is not official rom, the last official rom for the O2 Atom Life was WM6.
The O2 Atom Life uses a rom created by bajok he is on the forums here...
