Hi, Im strarting this topic as Ive got a problem with my tomtom 5 and I wondered if anyone was having the same or could help me out  If anyone else is having issues they could post on this topic so we can bring all the advice and questions in one place.
Ok my problem, I had loads of issues with the bluetooth connection these now seem to be solved, now when I am using tomtom and either in a route or not the programme just closes for no reason it just goes back to the today screen. Ive reinstalled, hard reset and soft reset ... soft reset seems to work a bit but it still does it.
PLEASE can anyone give me any advice or are you having the same issues as me? one thing I have noted is that everytime I reload without doing a soft reset the tomtom Icon at the bottom moves slightly to the left next to the bluetooth icon.
Hope to hear soon
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem as you, it sometimes works fine, then does the same as you. from what i have read its a software fault due to the device having a vga screen or something and from what i have read it can also be dwon to tt5 using all the memory on the device then crashing out etc. Maybe they will relase a fix for it soon?.
CHeers, Were did you read this can you post the link ? I have nothihing in my programs on the pocket pc and it still does it... ! looks like they've got an issue with there software ....
Hi Guys,
I have been having excactly same problem. Initially i had a lot of problems with bluetooth. Seems to have been sorted out, god knows how.
But out of no reason TomTom exits and brings me to today screen. If i click TomTom icon again it starts and exits in 1-2 min. Only if i do a soft reset that it works a bit longer.
I am using qtek 1.11 rom.
Hope someone can come up with a solution.
Cheers,
Vishal
The problem is with the POI file. That is a comun problem. You have to take the POI.dat file from a tomtom 3 map and put ir in the map dir in TT5. All working perfect now. The only problem is that it isnt so recent and dont have the phone option. But now works
Wait for a better crack to come out. Or buy it.

mm thanks for the help with this issue, but i have paid for it, it was a upgrade from my tt3 that i ordered from tomtom website, so thanks for the help fixing the problem NOT!!!
i will give the poi way a try and let people know.
PS thanks Imaginati0n for a proper try at helping ppl out and not just flaming
thanks for that, my copy of tomtom 5 is working fine now, that poi.dat from tomtom 3 fixed just fine
Could someone please post the POI File from Germany from TT3 ?
Hi,
Tomtom 5 seems to have a few bugs, on two roundabout near me (yes I've been sad enough to test it everywhere I go) it tells me to pull up to the roundabout and then turn right... but drive round the wrong way to get to the exit!!!
Anyone else found this?
M
I once had an error (before the patch) where I was on a motorway, took a turnoff as per the instructions, went round but missed it cos I wasn't looking where I was going. Ended up for some reason back on the motorway going the other way. It didn't update to tell me the revised route ie turn round you d**khead. In fact I don't think it even carried on once I did manage to get back to the same point, even though the GPS position WAS updating.
Had to soft reset it. Was late for a show me and my girlfriend were going to as well so it was a stressful few minutes.
Maybe your copy of TT contains some European files or something which are making the navigator follow European codes? Does it happen on all or just some? Is it only right hand turns on roundabouts or left ones as well?
Ant
There will always be errors in this kind of program, my tomtom tells me to turn left into the raised emankment on the road leading from junction 11 a of the M5, on the way back it tells me to turn right across the central reservation and up a hill into fields.
yeah tomtom will always have issues ,in fact just about all of them have issues just different ones to tomtom ,but on the whole tomtom is good ,what you have to remember is it is a guide and you can't always rely on it 100 %
I have a new RAPHAEL and do get no fix...I installend Quickfix and tried much but there is no fix ?
Any idea which can help - please ....!

first fix can take a while. Make sure you are outside and leave the phone switched on with google maps or another app that uses gps. This can take over 10 mins before a lock is obtained. Quickfix is already installed on the device - no need to install?!
called QuickGPS (not QuickFix)
yep, same here just leave the device searching somewhere near a window or outside...it takes a while for the first one.
Really ...but how long 1 hour or more ????
Another question - I used the diamond tweak and after it the Rapha is faster but is there any other tweak which will fit better than he one for the Diamond ?
Does anyone know how to get the beamer at the right side thicker in order to scroll down ...

YOur first fix should aquire in under 20 mins provided that you are not inside your house and/or not surrounded by tall buildings. What application are you trying to get a fix with? If its google maps, you should see a series of dots followed by the number of satelites. The number represents the number of satilites that is using to get a fix, and therefore it will stay at 0 until it finds your position. There are also some tools on this forum that let you check the gps status discussed in this thread! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420933
ardsar - google maps is saying: 0 number of satelites.
I`m using "GPS Test" also and there I gt 3-4 yellow signs but in GoogleMaps itis only searching ....
It is really not my first ppc and many before wokd very well but here ???
Any other idea ?
Just go outside (take it on your next car trip to wherever) and use gps test or Google maps. At first I thought something was wrong with my gps but it just took a VERY long time (15 min - 20 min) to find my first fix. After finding my first fix, the next time I used the gps it seemed to find a fix faster. My bluetooth gps receiver I use for my other pda is 1000x better than the GPS in this device (it can find a fix within a building!). So just be patient. The touch pro will eventually find a fix. The gps is so far the worse thing I dont like about the touch pro (oh and no 3G support for North America).

3-4 yellow bars indicates that you are receiving data from 4 satelites, but have yet to get a fix. The device needs to download almanac data from the satelite which tells it where the sats are in orbit. Only then can it work out where you are. If you have a week signal or are in a building as suggested before, this signal can be very week and once it loses the data stream, it has to start again. It is important for you to be outside to get a good first lock and be patient, it will happen.
It is working - thanks so much for your help !!!

Ok, so I KNOW I'm probably opening myself up here for some flaming, but at this point willing to take a chance... I've seen it somewhere, but no amount of searching is turning the answer up for me again. I have a Touch Pro and need to get TomTom Home to connect to my device, but it will not do so. I'd like to do this so that I can get some maps. I have the application installed in ProgramFiles\Navigator which is where, in my understanding, it should be. Any tips?
Its not that you'll get the GPS straight on, specially while sitting at a place..
The way i got it is via setting the GPS as Internal-GPS in TomTom and drove for a while..
I can tell you that it works as i was also getting suspicious that its broken or something but however it lags a little bit.. Once the satellites are found then there is no issue using TomTom as a pedestrian..
I still couldn't find why it works sometimes and why it doesn't..

Haha, no no, I know of the lag. I'm speaking of the TomTom Home program for my PC. I'd like to be able to connect the device to my PC and install new maps, use mapshare, etc. But since you mention it, hopefully someone comes up with a real solution for the lag problem on the device.
By the way, I am speaking of TomTom Home 2... I can connect to the other just fine but it doesn't really help me.
anyone? I know I've seen it somewhere. A link would even be appreciated!
There is no way to get tomtom 7 USA maps straight foward so far. May be after at&t Fuze launch?
The solution now is log in to your tomtom home acount and choose tomtom 720 as your device. Buy the maps, save them into you PC then manually copy to your SD card. Install tomtom cab is floating around in this forum, then re-connect to tomtom home to download extra voices and maps corrections.
Right, I have all that so far. My problem is TomTom Home doesn't recognize my device at all. It just keeps the 3 step menu up that basically says "connect your device".
same problem too
I'm wondering if anyone has managed to get this working on their Skyrocket?
I just spend the past two hours trying to tweak the phone and nothing!
It is really strange. It made my phone ring once and then everything stopped. What is weird is that I can sometimes get their WMD Commander to work by simply turning the screen on and unlock the homescreen. It is then that this tool begins to work but not fully. It states it has activated the GPS and to wait about 5 min but then the status says GPS is unavailable.
Man, I love the way this works to find your phone but I just can't get it to work. I did notice their WMD Commander on the website access is in "beta". Kind of scary.
Anyways,
Has anyone gotten this to work? If not, what other VERY similar tool is available?
Thank you

Att has a mobile protection app wih phone locator call them and ask about it
