Can camera be used in portrait mode? - Touch Cruise General

I know that when you launch the camera by default on the Touch Cruise, it is in landscape mode. Is it possible to switch it to Portrait mode? How?
Thanks!

What sense would that make?
You can do contact photos in portrait mode by selecting preset and
for others you can just turn your phone to get it switched
Sorry if this isn't a constructive answer to your question,
but i am just wondering

OK, by default, the interface is setup to do landscape photos. If I turn the camera it doesn't automatically seem to change the layout of the photo and then I have to manually rotate the photo with image editing software.
Unless I'm missing something, I guess I am confused by your response.

Well, I think most of us would ask... is turning the photo all that tough? After all, you can use your finger in the Album software, and it's pretty sweet!
Good luck!

Yeah, I get what you're saying and I don't disagree. I'm writing a Windows Mobile app that interacts with the camera and was hoping to not have to mess with that, but it looks like I'll have to handle the rotation through code.
Thanks for the help!

Problem with Email Folder in landscape mode

Happy New year everyone!
I have a problem that I could not find an answer to by doing a search. When I try to access my email folders in landscape mode I can see the folders but no words. (I can see the inbox folder but it does not say inbox next to it). Near some of the folders it looks as if all of the letters of the folder names have been place one on top of each other. It almost looks like a Chinese symbol. Sometime this is right next to the folder other times it is all the way across the screen. When the phone is in the portrait mode everything is fine. It is as if the screen isn't drawing properly.
I hope this make sense and I hope i am using the proper terms. Please go easy on me as I am new to this phone and really don't understand some of the thinks on this forum.
Thanks for any advice you might have!!!
I am seeing the same problem on my Fuze, but pretty much on everything that's text when I look at stuff in landscape mode.
When I try to enter text, the input box shows the cursor moving, but no characters show up. If I then close the keyboard, everything I typed is there in portrait mode. And I also see the jumble of text sometimes where there is a single "smudge" and the letters look like they're on top of each other.
This is VERY annoying, and I can't figure it out. I've only owned the Fuze about a week, but it seems to me it worked fine when I got it. It's as if I have installed some software (or perhaps it's one of the customization tools - I've run both Diamond Tweak and Diamond TF3D Config) that wiped out the fonts required for landscape mode.
The other thing is, it doesn't happen ALL the time, only about 80%. The rest of the time it works as it should.
Any help or ideas would be most welcome. If I can't see text entry in landscape mode, the flip out keyboard becomes useless, and I may as well have bought the thinner Touch Diamond.
I had this problem when I enabled ClearType in landscape mode...try to look at it if you have it enabled..and if so, disable it...
Thanks, that seems to have worked.
Is there a separate setting for landscape mode somewhere, or just the master ClearType on-off in Settings...Screen?
it's in Advanced Config or Diamont Tweak ..not sure, but one of it has that option
Tried that, and also modifying the registry directly, and neither worked. If the "main" ClearType setting is on in Settings...Screen, text in landscape mode is illegible no matter what else I do. The system seems to ignore the registry setting for turning it off in landscape mode.
While turning ClearType off does work, it's annoying to have to do it because the text in portrait mode looks so much better with it on. Oh well. I guess it's a bug in WinMobile 6.1.
In any case thanks for the quick response. I did a search in the forums here, and this is apparently a well know bug with no available workaround for the moment.
hmm, mine is working correctly...when I open Screen options in landscape, ClearType is Off and cannot be set to On...and in Portrait mode, it can be turned Off
DiamondTweak > 17.7 try that...if it doesn't work..hmm...flash ROMeOS or other ROM

On mine, screen options in landscape mode has cleartype set to "on" and cannot be turned off. It's grayed out. It follows the setting in portrait mode - if I turn it off there, it's off in landscape, if I turn it on there, it's on in landscape.
Tried DiamondTweak, made no difference.
ADDENDUM: Well, SOMETHING made a difference, because once I reset the thing, it now acts as you describe - I have ClearType on in portrait, and off in landscape. Woohoo!
Thanks much!

landscape mode

hello,, is there a possiblity to make hd2 do a lanscape mode on either direction? i mean if you turn left it will landscape and if you turn right it will also lanscape.. many thanks
PS; i mean landscape left or right for sms, mails, note, internet, photos, musics,etc.... thanks again!!
Are you talking about the home screen? I have tried looking but cannot get it to work. XT Hack Beta2 has an option for manilla rotation (homescreen) but when i enable it and turn the phone it just goes black. Also with this enabled the lanscape scrolling of pictures and music tracks are messed. I like the idea of having the homescreen rotation enabled (and mayb all the other tabs except music and pictures coz they have it already). Maybe you have to have a wallpaper in landscape option like in the HDWalls add-on for the HD2 (but i dont think that is compatible with CHT 1.7.1). Hope someone can figure it out
THIS seems to work well.
But also has many other features. May be more then you want, but has some nice rotation functions.
yes, there is an application that makes this happen i am sure... I used one before called changescreen, I think that it does what you want.
give it a try...

[Q] Camera question

Hey, how's it going everyone? I am new to these forums, and I have attempted to do some searching around, but I have yet to find a true answer to this problem. So, I love my Samsung Infuse. I just got it roughly a week ago, and I am basically switching from my iPhone 4. An issue that I am having is that I want to be able to take pictures in portrait mode and landscape mode, but the camera doesn't seem to be designed to take pictures in portrait mode, as every picture I take like that, the picture always comes out at some 90 degree angle. Is there any way to really fix this, so that I can take pictures in both modes? Maybe a handy application that I haven't seen in the market? I just want to be able to turn the phone one way and take a picture, which I don't understand why it isn't implemented in the first place. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
I am not sure if this will help what you are trying to do or if you already tried it. There is a turnwheel kind of icon on 1 of the corners when the camera application is turned on.if you click that, there is a option for scene mode. if you click on that, you will get various options inside. 1 of them is portrait. hope this helps.
^ i dont think that is what the op means.
op you ar eright the previews dont detect the phones prientation, but they show correctly in the gallary so the phone is detecting the orientation. if they are 90deg off when pulled to the computer then it would seem there is a bug in the orientation, i havent tried copying to my computer, nor sure is there is an issue beyond the previews only displaying in landscape mode.

Camera Apps bug on Chacha (Camera360, Camera Effects) working only in portrait?

Hi guys,
I'd like to underline a problem I have with some applications for camera, like Camera360, Camera Effects, Pudding Camera and so on.
Even if I set the display to not rotating (in other words, always landscape), those apps when taking a photo take it in portrait mode, and I have to rotate them manually with another program.
The strange thing is that while capturing the image is set in landscape mode (so I have the illusion that everything is working fine), but when saving the photo it is rotated by 90°, like it would have been taken in portrait.
Do you know how to solve this problem?
It is very uncomfortable to rotate manually every photo taken with those programs.
Hope you the best, thank you!
Marco

rotation faker => is it possible

since some apps on the chacha have wrong rotation for some reason (e.g. peak.ar unfortunately switches the rotation modes) i wonder if it is possible to create a program that just fakes the rotation portrait/landscape for some programs.
the is.

What exactly does this do? This didn't have to seem any effect on anything.
All my programs that had wrong orientation did the same like usual.

Run it and select the type of orientation you want your programs to run in. Landscape is for the ChaCha display.

Nope, doesn't work. Landscape detection of programs is wrong as usual.
For example: Peak.ar is wrong and pictures taken with Pro Paint Camera are also rotated 90° wrong.
Whatever this program does it must be for something else.
Worked for me on previous versions of CM9, where the dialer would show up in portrait mode, so it might be something else that's hindering peak.ar. You could email the rotation locker dev asking him about this.
Ok this makes most programs opening in Landscape mode - however they still will "think" that they are in the wrong mode.
What really helps here is only something that fakes the values of the rotation sensor the other way round.
