Since a few days I have permanently on the LCD the red/yellow/green/blue circle (loading a program/busy icon) coming on and off in a 2 second rhythm without that any program is active which is checked by the task manager.
When I start PockeMechanik I can monitor that the processor load is from 96 to 100%. I performed a lot of soft-resets but the system shows always the same behavior.
I also removed all the files from the windows/autostart folder without any success.
When I start the unit in a "Safe Mode" which is provided by the Spb Pocket Plus then the strange behavior of the system can not me monitored. The processor load is around 6 %.
Any explanation available?

Faulty system service?
I doubt that you can solve this problemi whithout a hard-reset

I made a small test.
1) Hard reseted the HTC, Charged my battery to 100%, then let the phone lying on my table for 12 hours without doing anything and then check battery status -> 84%
2) Hard reseted the HTC, installed SPB mobile shell 2.0 Charged my battery to 100%, then let the phone lying on my table for 12 hours without doing anything and then check battery status -> 68%
Anyone encountered this same issue?????
Thansk a lot for helping

Depends on whether you have set weather updates to download at set intervals. Also check your backlight options, this may have been changed by SPB.
I think I have heard a similar thing a couple of times (spb draining the battery). The solution as suggested by MrSmith22 is to disable the automatic weather updates. I think you also need to disable the option "Show the Now Screen when device wakes up".
Another thing which you may find useful is to install the PowerGuard program (freeware) and monitor the energy drawn by your device. I installed version 1.5 of the software you are using and with screen dimmed and nothing else running the buttery current is -32mA. Of course this varies between now and then...
I would say if you notice huge negative numbers while at standby, for example, -150, -300, then there might be a problem! These numbers are what i get when i use coreplayer for music or video.
Of course you need to make sure that WiFi is turned off. I have no idea how spb updates the weather reports. If it tries to use a WiFi connection every 10 minutes then i guess this could be a cause... In my device, I have also disabled the HSDPA mode as I do not really need it.
Bottom line, run PowerGuard and observe the current drawn with and without the software you are interested in.
Hope I helped...
Hi,
i would like to know if it's normal that my battery goes to 100 % at the beginning of the day to 68% at the end. (i'm not using it mutch !!)
besides when i switch on my htc my processor is using 38% et then after using a prog it goes to 41% and stay at 41% after ending all progs i used.
if there is a prog who can optimize using processor it will be great (i know i'm asking a lote).
(by the way thank's a lot for the forum !!)
A power drain like that is unusual. I get to about 80% by 6pm just from making a couple of short calls and checking the forums on my lunch using 3g which I think is acceptable.
Generally your battery will run down faster if you have programs running in the back ground or you have other radios on (bluetooth, wifi, gps) etc.
Wifi will run your battery right down if left on.
Also turn down your brightness on the screen as that is a battery drain when its on and also adjust your power settings to turn off the scree faster when you are not using it. Most of these can be found in your start > Settings.
A friend of mine gave me a tip that when you flash your phone to a new radio you should do it with 100% battery as it helps improve the battery life. Not sure whether thats true or not but it seemed to work for me, of course it could have just been a better radio!
Hope that helps.

Is it processor usage or used memory? Processor is the thing that does different calculations and needs more energy when being used more intensively (at least that's what I think). Memory is just a container of information ("0's and 1's") and energy is needed for maintenance of all 100% of memory, so imho it shouldn't change much if 38% are used or 41% (and again - that's just what I think about memory usage; I have no scientific proof for that ).
Btw, question from me - does strength and/or type of signal/network (with "type" I mean all those GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA networks) affect power usage in any way?
i hanged where i worked a few weeks ago and now I find I get 5 days from my battery, I only got 3 1/2 before. I have noticed that with my old job I never had better then 2 bars of service. this must prove that signal strength has something to do with battery life
Ofcourse. when you have better reception ur phone has to use less powerto send his signal and thus uses less energie
is it possible if u use a memory card, that the phone use the RAM not a memory (for files) but as a real RAM (like on pc) ?
Is there any lighter theme than the original one which can make the processor running slower ?
if you want the best battery life turn off htc home so you just have a blank home screen!!!
hold on I have a great idea, I will sit down this weekend and make a text only interface for my cruise. that would give some awesome battey life. I suppose I might as well buy an old nokia 2010 and save my time LOL.
Battery life depends on some many things its hard to get the phone to last the same lenght of time each day for me let alone everybody.
ook ....., thx for your help.
Do you have Slide 2 Unlock version 1.21 installed? That drains battery very fast. It has a bad "iLock2.exe". It's better to download the latest version of S2U2.
Btw, what about different "minimized" applications? With "minimized" I mean those that are left opened in background for using them later (e.g., paused music player, opened pdf, opened contacts/tasks/scheduler etc). On PC, such applications should not consume any resources (expect RAM, of course ;D) as there's no persistant interaction between application and user/data, so it would consume more power to open/close application and read/write data. What about such apps on windows mobile devices? Is it better to close/open applications so that they run only when they are being used? Or is it better to leave them in background while they aren't used? This question is about apps that are used on regular basis, i.e., like 20+ times a day...
Music players tend to keep the device powered up while the player is loaded and playing. You may have noticed the device keeps playing the music while the device seems off in many of the players. In fact, only the screen is off in this case.
There is a chance your music player keeps the device on when paused as well, wasting a lot of energy for nothing.
Hi,
I had the same problem, the culprit was btio.
btio was working fine on my qtek 9100, but on my cruise, this software empty the battery in about 24h

I'm not sure if this is normal, so I thought I would ask some of the pros here at xda. When I soft reset my Fuze it generally starts out at about 37%. active sync kicks on, which by the way I've been trying to find how to keep this from coming on automatically, but no luck. This puts it at about 40%. Once I use something like sky fire, and I'm at 53%. This wouldn't bother me ,but it's at 50% after I've closed the program, and it stays there, draining my battery. is this normal? any suggestions, if it's not?
Oh ya, I forgot to mention.
Running NATF's v2.3 ROM
Stock Radio
don't know if this matter but, Fuzeberry v3.0 w/ L.S. carbon dialer skin, and Icontact contacts.
Yes when I had Touchflo enabled my memory usage was exactly as yours.
You can prevent activesync from opening up at startup by going to Settings>Personal>Phone>Timezone>uncheck Automatic change timezone and clock

nah that fix doesnt work
trust me ive tried about 6 different things nothing stops it
*posted message in the wrong board >.<
I looked right at my fuze when i read your post. I'm at 47% with mail and Windows Live messenger open. I wouldnt be that worried about your memory usage.
Im usually Hovering at 45% to 50% with nothing running and with TouchFlo Enabled... I figure this is normal but i wish i could lower it
cool. I just wasn't sure if that was normal or not. figured I'd get some user's feedback. thanks all. As far as the active sync I guess I'll give that a shot. but i guess it only uses like 1% of the CPU any way so whatever.
I believe you are referring to Memory Usage and not CPU usage. If you CPU is constantly at 47% then you should be concerned. If its just your memory I wouldn't worry too much. When I soft reset Im at 30% usage with TF3D and that creeps up to 40%. I can usually keep it at about 40% using MemMaid and Task Managers.
Keep in mind every menu you open cache's the icons and wastes memory. So if you go into the settings menu and then open you programs folder along with subfolders. Everytime you do this the icons have to load into memory and will stay there. Also some programs don't close completely and stay running as a process. I would recommend getting a task manager that can kill processes. FDCSoft Task Manager is free and works perfect.
yeah after a reset with tf3d im usually at 36 or so
after running stuff then using memaid to clean im back at 40
i have a 32 mb pagepool, and with no tf3d im at 36% 118/184 then with tf3d im at 40-43% depending on apps, and i never go above 48% when im playing a game with tf3d on
So TouchFlo takes up decent space but not crazy space
considering the amount of ram the raphael has the amount of ram TF3D takes up is very insignificant. As for CPU usage.....once its already fully loaded into ram it shouldn't use very much if any cpu at all.
Hi,
my display switches off after 10 seconds, no matter what options I make in the power settings.
The bug only occurs in the battery mode. When the mobile is charging, the display remains enlighted.
Any ideas how to reset/edit the battery/display settings of the htc polaris without hard resetting the whole PPC? (I would like to avoid a hard-reset because I have a lot of software on it. And I think the problem will reoccur if I restore the data with an backup tool.)
Perhaps there is a file which can be edited manually in the operating system?
Thank you,
Christian
If you have much software installed, it might be the case that a product overrides
the settings in Windows Mobile and enforces its own powersettings.
Example: S2U2 can manage display on/off/darken settings on its own.
Maybe you have such application installed.
Still not working.
Thank you for your help.
But hats obviously not the solution. I uninstalled some apps and went through the setting of EVERY app that is running. No way to change anything.
Once again: Is there a system-file one can edit?
I have exactly the same issue with my Touch Cruise, its not related to power settings 'cos I've got backlight to switch off at 1 minute and off at 2 minutes on battery power. There are no applications running in the background.
Hi all,
I have an apps idea but I am not a developer and thus will really love if a developer will try to do it for the communities.
It's to check when is your phone ready to be use after a reboot.
Often the time, I must look at my widget continuously to know if the phone has gotten stable to use after a reboot or not. So, I guess this would be a nice addition.
The idea is that the apps should start very early in the boot up process and monitors the CPU usage continuously.
If the CPU usage is less than 10% (or any other value) for 10 seconds (or longer), then the apps will prompt the user, either by a toaster, or via notification, or via sound/vibrate etc.
After the user learns that, the apps will shut down itself and no longer takes up any memory or juice.
What do you all think?
I had the same idea, and solved it with this tiny and handy application : CPU Notify
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.beemer.cpunotify&feature=search_result
It is loaded at boot time, and you can observe that the CPU is at 100%. When it goes down to botton (green) steadily, the phone is ready.
I keep this application constantly since it is very small and battery friendly. It shows your phone activity like task manager in tray icon in Windows world.
