Software like mamaich contacts for WM6 - General Topics

Hello.
There was a software for WM2003 named mamaich that added a Contacts button to the phone pad. It was great because you could call anyone without having to use the stylus, and you could select from the contacts categories. I used it on my S100 and was just wonderful.
All you had to do was go to the phone pad, press down key, select the category and select the contact to dial. And contacts were displayed in a really large font so making a call was really easy.
Now with WM6 that is gone, and i have to press the phone pad for the contacts letters which is a lot of trouble and fond to mistakes.
I was wondering if is there any software that simplifies the call making process, and is decently visible?
thanks

Lost dial functionality after upgrade

Hi All,
I have successfully completed the Big Storage upgrade to the t-mobile 1.13 ROM and I am now trying to get back some of the functionality I have lost during this process. I have managed to get most of the stuff the way I like it, however I used to be able to push the 'contacts' button, then use the directional pad to highlight a contact, then press the 'call' button (this much still works) but then I could then use the directional pad to select whether I wanted to call that contacts mobile, home phone or whatever....I can't do this anymore.
Does anyone know which extended rom cab provides this?
Cheers,
Adam.
I think you should install the Smart Dial and Phone Pad cabs.

DIAL PADS!!!!!!!!! Why oh Why?

How come some of the DialPads out there the Iphone (phonePad) and Nargz (iphone) dial pads keep locking up our HTC touchs'?
Also how come developers don't use almost the entire screen as buttons for the dial pad. Even the DialPad that came with the touch has this issue. There's a lot more space that can be utilized to make bigger keys.
Take for example the Vista Style dial pad. Really great DialPad, by the way.
But I don't need to have the Windows icon (in the top right corner), I don't need the Last Call showing, I don't need to see Rogers in the top left corner. That's all real estate that can be used to make bigger keys. Or fit a bigger TALK key.
And please, please to anybody reading this and deciding to modify or developing an existing dial pad or make a new one. Please, I beg you. When there's an incoming call, make the Name / Phone number and the Answer / End keys really, really BIG. That's one of my biggest gripes with the default dialer and the Vista dialer.

HTC DIAL WM 6.1 - Action Button

I saw another post about this, but couldn't find it again, sorry...
In HTC WM 6.1, when you press "Call" (green) button and dial to look through your contacts, when you get to the contact you want and press "action" button it starts a call.
Previously, in WM 6, "action" button" would open the contact so you can see contact's phone numbers. Only if you pressed the Call button over the contact it would place the call.
I remember somebody answered that in WM 6.1 you could still browse through the contact numbers using the "right" and "left" buttons of dial pad. But this way you don't see the numbers, just see if it is "work", "home", "pager" numbers etc.
I do want to OPEN the contacts when pressing "action" button as sometimes you need to consult numbers. Summing up, I want it to work as in WM 6.
Is there a registry change to make it work? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks.
I'm not sure what you mean. When you click on the green button, you go see the dialers. There are two types of dialers, the HTC and the windows mobile. The HTC one has the one which you can press right left to get Cell Work Home and see the numbers when you highlight it. The other one is the normal one which you don't see the numbers. This isn't a change in WM6.1. It's just using the different type of dialer. You can use Schaps advance configuration to change the dialer to windows mobile or HTC.
Thanks. I am talking about the HTC dialer. I attached an image (38_screen).
As you said "the HTC one has the one which you can press right left to get Cell Work Home and see the numbers when you highlight it" (if you enabled "Automatically expand selected contact" on smart dialing options, otherwise it appears the contact's name and besides just w, h, p...).
But, in WM 6 when you highlight the contact you have to press the "green" button to start the call. If you press the "action" button it "opens the contact" as in the second picture (pc_capture).
In WM 6.1 if you press "action" or "green" the result is the same: the call starts.
The behavior in Wm 6 is more convenient because you use the same procedure to reach the contact to either place a call or to search/edit your contacts.

Autocomplete is inactive!

I've tried every possible trivk and hack, nothing worked! Soft keyboard is not activating "Auto Complete" in any way. I only experience the T9 auto completion but not the usual keyboard.
Is there a bug with T9 or some kinda conflict?
as already been here once and also in the diamond forum, There is no standard auto complete on the handset. The settings are there, cos they are built in to windows mobile, but no dictionary has been added.
the only word completion is using t9!
Hi,
a question about text messages.
Can anyone tell how I automatically get the mobile number in the "to" line? Is it "to" in the English version? In the German it is "an".
I hope you understand what I mean.
In my Vario II I just hit a key and from the contacts the number is automatically filled into the line.
Whatever I tried so far I am not able to do the same in the Raphael.
Thanks for your help.
S.
Just start typing the name of your desired contact, and WM will suggest? Then choose and voila, number is there.
autocomplete for soft keyboard/block recognizer is disabled due to t9. in order to use, you must disable t9.
to disable t9, use something like Advanced Config tool or KaiserTweak or something similar. On the list, look for xt9, and disable and exit. Power off phone and after soft reset, your autocomplete will show when writing some text.
I guess this was a typical solution...

Thanks anyways.

Call a contact quickly

I quite like the stock dialler, but how do you phone someone quickly? Currently I:
1) press the dialler icon
2) press the * icon
3) press the avatar for the person I want to call
4) click on the desired phone number (home, mobile, work etc).
Can I somehow skip at least step 4 and have a default number for them so that just clicking their contact photo phones them (and long pressing pulls up the other info, perhaps)?
1) press the dialer icon
2) start typing the name of the person you want using the dialpad (similar to T9)
3) Press the name and number you want to dial, it will initiate the call

Click to collapse
That's another way to do it, certainly, but it doesn't seem to do very much towards reducing the number of keys I press!

Click to collapse
Stick the top contacts widget on the desktop and use that, two clicks, or click phone and make sure the top three people are one of the ones you want to dial, or scroll and the keyboard disappears to show call log. 2 Clicks.
Can't say there is going to be a much quicker way of doing it short of voice controls...
There should be speed dial settings but there aren't
You can put direct dials into a swipe launcher. You can call those wity one swipe. Smart task launcher for example has more than 700 spots, swipe pad is more user friendly.
I have used this widget on almost every android I have had in the last few years: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.yuyang226.contactswidget
I use Nova Launcher. Swipe up on the dialer icon means direct call to my wife ?
