3.02 ROMs preferred over 3.08 ROMs (WM 6.1) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Most of the newly released builds are on top of 3.08 ROM which renders them unusable for me:
- TCMP/FLV problems (crash.txt)
- Esmertec JBed problems (most of them - crash when launching midlets)
- SRS WOW HD problems: device becomes silent until uninstalled, sound is crappy without any processing on my headphones...
None of the mentioned problems applies to 3.02 ROMs.
Tried 8 different ROMs and I want to share my findings: if you want most of your device - choose one of the 3.02 ROMs (Sleuth for instance) and avoid 3.08 ROMs.
What is your experience?

I've re-read and deleted this.

Worth reflashing yet? Opinions please

I have an HTC branded unlocked Kaiser in the UK (Currently on T-Mobile)
It's still on it's original install, it's a bit clunky at the moment, but it was a bit slow on the screen updates to begin with.
At some point I will definately put a custom ROM on there - I don't want touchFLO or any fancy gimmicks, just my spb suite for the front end and multimedia stuff so I can play divx will do.
I just wondered how mature the ROM kitchen was for the Kaiser. Is it worth going for the rebuild yet? Would it become much more responsive or is that mainly down to the rubbish graphics drivers?
Oh, and also, once I have it all set up and extra stuff installed (eg TomTom activated), what recommendations do people have for backing it up to an SD card so that in the event of a wipe whilst away from home, I can have a reinstalled OS with TomTom already activated and installed?
I'd go for a Lite ROM either Alex's or Dutty's.
Alex_'s UltraClean ROM now with NetCF 3.5, SOD/XIP fix and SmartDialing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349354 and
Dutty's Hybrid NO.7 NU-Skool Lite Rom RTM.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351058
Make sure you have first installed HTC Kaiser Hard-SPL v1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=53280&d=1191643466
Then install the duttythroy HTC_ConnectionSetup_1_0_31002_1.cab
this will detect your T-mobile connection and setup the correct phone settings..
These ROM's will make your Kaiser fly!!!!

Faria HTC Wizard ROM - Extremely Slow!

Hi guys,
I've flashed my i-mate KJam with Faria HTC Wizard ROM (here). Everything works perfect unless my wizard is extremely slow! I've to wait 10 seconds (or more) for start menu, apps, etc to run.
I've played with PagePool (using Wizard Service Tool) but even on 12MB it is still slow.
Is there any solution somewhere?
Thanks.
Well, one of the main reasons that your Wizard is so slow, is that the Faria ROM is over 2 years old! Try flashing to a new WinMo 6.1 ROM, they are MUCH faster than the old 6.0 ones.
But this one is the only "clean" rom I've found as there is no any extra software embedded into it.
I wish I knew how to replace SYS and XIP in this ROM with a new one and get it worked.
try few Vanilla Rom here, they are very *clean*

Call recording: official list of supported models & ROM versions

UPDATE (03/23/2009 9:46 PM CET): MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:
it seems you only have to download and execute the CAB file linked from the first post of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493118 (I've also mirrored it at http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/2 Way Recording.cab ). That is, you don't need to give a try to the previous methods; you don't need to read the linked (e.g., Touch HD) threads either to learn how to set up the previous hacks, what they do, what their restrictions are etc.

Palm Treo Pro
HTC BlueAngel, running WM6.5 build 21189 x5 by sun_dream
(original post follows)
As many of you may already noticed, there are already some reports on getting ICR (call recording) working on some models and ROM versions; for example, Touch HD, Kaiser and Raphael (CDMA-specific thread HERE; reported success with for example the new 5.05 leaked WWE ROM?)
Please post your results (phone model + exact ROM version [preferably with a link to the ROM cooker, if it’s a cooked ROM] + what you installed) in this thread; I’ll try to maintain a full compatibility list based on your input. Make absolute sure you only post anything if you’re 100% certain both parties are recorded and it’s not sound bleeding that makes the other party hearable. (The easiest way of making sure this isn’t the case is either turning down the volume or using a Bluetooth headset – then, the microphone of your handset won’t pick up anything from the other party.)
UPDATE: HERE STARTS THE LIST:
HTC Wizard: Win6.1 Wizflo Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435228
Touch Pro: MightyROM 4.14; official 5.05RUS ROM; official 5.05WWE ROM. Tool: InCallRecord.cab repacked by Monx.; Call record software: Vito Audionotes Touch.
Dash/ Excalibur: Confirmed working on NRG Rose Rom v1.7 and Kavana (using Microsoft Recite and VITO Audio Notes).
UPDATE (03/25/2009): added a two lists listing the mskip hack's proven (in)compatibility. That is, I've separated these entries from the previous ones (still) explaining comaptibility with the older hacks (InCallRecord.cab etc.)
UPDATE (04/10/2009):: mskip posted the following: "Made a new cab combining my 2 way recording plus the incall enable edit to enable BOTH sides to be recorded clearly from the dialer menu after a call has been established. It does not affect the ability to use a 3rd party app if you want, just gives you extra ease so you dont have to load any new programs up when you are in a call. " The cab is attached at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3577992&postcount=82
On my HTC Universal running Tomal 8.5 WM 6.1 (tested with the plain registry import, the original CAB file linked to in the first post of the Kaiser thread and Monx’s repack), it doesn’t work. The second did show up the “Record conversation” menu item while talking; the third didn’t at all. Nevertheless, nothing resulted in recording the other party, other than the sound bleeding from the speaker.
works on Touch Pro
running MightyROM 4.14
Hi Guys, Any ROM I could use to make true 2-way recording to work on the X1 with hands free? Thanks.
Wizard Win6.1 Wizflo Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435228

Dash/ Excalibur: Confirmed working on NRG Rose Rom v1.7 and Kavana (using Microsoft Recite and VITO Audio Notes).

Thanks! I give it a try too and report on the success.
Thanks guys! I've edited the first post and put all this info there.
Of course, keep on posting verified(!) info on all these - I'll continue refreshing & updating the list.
Excellent 2 way recording
Device: HTC Touch Pro.
verified ROMs: official 5.05RUS ROM and official 5.05WWE ROM.
Tool: InCallRecord.cab repacked by Monx.
Call record software: Vito Audionotes Touch.
The Registry Edit and Vito AudioNotes is working for me:
HTC Kaiser/ AT&T Tilt
dutty's WM6.1 WWE
ROM Date: 04/29/08
Radio: 1.65.14.06
Victor
2-Way Recording Registry Edit ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493118 ) works just great with character’s AMP ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2077663&postcount=9 ) on the HTC Wizard. Will soon test it on the Universal and the Vox too.
works on kaiser
The Registry Edit cab by MSkip and Vito AudioNotes Touch 0.2 work for me:
HTC Kaiser/ AT&T Tilt
dutty's WM6.1 WWE
ROM Date: 04/29/08
Radio: 1.64.08.21
Protocol : 25.74.40.02W
SIM & Security Unlocked
Sound quality is very clear for both parties in a recorded conversation.
Updated the first post; now, I recommend giving a try to 2 Way Recording.cab first. I've also mirrored it to avoid having to wait for Rapidshare / the other service.
How to get the audio on a Bluetooth Device...
Anyone been successful at getting Jawbone to work as a bluetooth audio device (headset) while playing back these recordings?
Has anyone tested this on a Mogul/Titan? I have one and I would LOVE to be able to record calls!!!

You'll need a hack to do this (to reroute the audio output) - see the dedicated threads (and my article in the Wiki).

Try out the 2_Way_Recording cab and let us know

If you installed to 2_Way_Recording cab then you need to use a 3rd party program such as Voice Recorder or Vito Audio Notes to record the conversation. Audio Notes is better since you can set it to automatically record all conversations. I think it drains the battery a bit though so I took it off auto and linked it to a hardware button so I can record only the conversations I need to quickly.
Doesn't work on a Sprint TP with a stock rom (11/11/08 - 1.03.651.4).
Just installing the cab doesn't record the other party (faint sound, most likely coming through the mic).
Wavedev.dll seems to be incompatible with this rom - recording of any kind doesn't work.

Strange issue with Manilla2D, ThrottleLauncher and HButton

Hi guys,
I finally flashed my Herald and also am using some new ROM's in my Kaiser. Thus, I began using Manilla2D instead of ThrottleLauncher. I must say I prefer ThrottleLauncher as Today plugin because I can configure everything in the screens, even seeming a TF3D clonic, or any other screen anybody can imagine, but M2D runs smoother in my devices, and now I'm living a pragmatic moment in my life.
BUT...
I experienced something curious when installed TL on the Herald, as M2D is included in the ROM. When having M2D disabled, TL enabled and HButton configured, the device works sloooooow and every push on a hard button which had to launch something with HButton freezes the device with the message that it can't find the link or it's unusable....
The same occurs with the Kaiser, except the system is not slow. The Kaiser uses a Non-Manilla ROM and M2D is installed by me.
Using M2D + TL without HButton runs fine (except sometimes TL crashed in the Herald)
And using M2D + Hbutton without TL runs also fine. I must UNINSTALL ThrottleLauncher in the Herald to run well. Only disable it in the Kaiser.
I have no experience in programming, but I remembered my MS-DOS experiences when a mouse and a small scanner used the same IRQ. I think there is a fixed address memory in conflict with those three apps. Is this possible ?
If this info can help somebody to improve the use of TL, HButton (or even Manilla's personal versions), I'll be glad.
Using ROM's when posting this:
Main: Kaiser 130 (ex-Orange UK) / ROM: Josh's WM6.5 build 23004 65SeriesWWE / Radio: 1.71.09.01 / Protocol: 27.75.40.02.eMoH - with some Mbarvian's Solace v3.1 apps 'cause I was used to it.
Secondary: Herald 100 no-locked / ROM: Thanhy25's WWE 6.1.405.14 BUILD 20764.1.4.3 (Blue clear) / Radio: 03.21.90 / Protocol: 4.1.13.61 / ExtROM: TDung's V1

[Q] Latest ROM for HTC Polaris (XDA Orbit 2)???

Hi!
I need your help, please
I tried many different ROMs. Thanks to all the cookers!
Could anybody tell me, where I can find the latest (most stable ROM) for the Polaris (XDA Orbit 2) fitting the following criteria:
- WM 6.5
- German user interface
- Manilla 2d or other/better
Currently I'm running the latest Version of Alex-V i found. But my XDA is not very stable with it. I think, there is less memory free. Running my navigation software, it often breaks down with "low memory" failure message. And any other application and event is very slow.
Coud you recommend me a ROM (WM 6.5 with German interface)?
Is there any german WM6.5 ROM which still is in development? Or in other words: is there any cooker who still is active for a german polaris rom?
thanks in advance!!!
