hey, i have this .mp3 that i would like to use as my ringtone, how do i make it as loud as possible? What program do i download to edit the mp3 to make it as loud as possible?
mp3 ringtone for Xda II mini, pls...
Hi Thread...
Im also have the same problem. I cannot use my mp3 song as a ringtone. Any suggestion from anyone, pls?
Hi.
You have to copy the mp3 file into My Device\ Application Data\ Sounds.
Then you can select it from Start\Settings\Sounds&Notifications\ Notifications tab. Set the Event to Phone: Incoming call, then select the mp3 from the list of the available sounds.
Enjoy

To make it louder as possible try to use any music editor. I use Soundforge for it.
Soundforge.....thats 55$...any free methods?

I think Audacity will do what you want, and it's free.

Yep ive used it a few times
i have that program...but i cant figure out how to do what i need to
MP3Gain is a good program to change the gain or volume of a MP3. Can make them really loud, just gotta make sure they dont distort...
in audacity to make the sound louder. do a select > All. Then choose Effect > Amplify. Enter in a number (i think there is a maximum). File export to .mp3
mp3DirectCut allows you adjust volume. It also allows you to directly edit an mp3 file. I use it to capture a certain section of an mp3 so that the file size is significantly decreased on my phone.

it adjusts the volume to the maximum possible level (without distortions) automatically

:? I have a XDA2 and want to use Pink Floyds Money as my ring tone. I have got this track on my SD card in a mp3 format but have not got a clue what to do. If anyone can help me I would be really gratefull. I will need step by step instructions. Email [email protected]
You will have to get a WAV / WMA or MID version of the file.
Then via settings / system tab / add ringtone you can select the file.
or; play the song via media player. make sure you know which part of the song you want to use as a ringer...can't be the whole whole song since you're bound to answer the phone anyway... at the same time use your notes app; press the recorder. you'll have to be a little quick; when the song / part you want is coming get ready to record it. you can record like 30 seconds worth...that's enough considering you won't be listening to the whole song before you answer the phone. from there test the recorded sample; rename it then paste the file in the ring's folder of windows. select it in your phone app as your ringer and there you go. oh; make sure that the microphone agc setting is in the "disabled" mode for the auto-adjust volume. also make sure the volume of the unit (the pda; not the phone) is down a notch. recording quality is quite good; mighty handy when you can't find the wav file on the internet. i use the muppet's "manamana" song; i was able to use this as a ringer via the process i discribed above.
cheers

If you wanna be able to access and use music files (mp3 and wma format) located in your sd card as ringtones, you may also consider changing the registry setting. Here is the step by step advice
1. Install regedit in your device (in case you haven't had it yet)
2. Open the regedit and look for the following values
HEKY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring
Then under Ring Folder -> tap Directory, you'll see that the default directory is set to be \Window\Ring. You can change that directory to your preference (e.g. \Storage Card\My Music\). Soft-reset the unit. At this stage, all music files in MP3 and WMA format can be accessed directly from the storage card
3. Go to Phone->Tools->Options->Ring tone, and select whatever song you prefer using a your ringer.
Note that evey time someone calls you, the device will locate the songs at the specified location (e.g. SD card) and hence the ability to play the ringer properly also depends on the speed at which the device and the SD card interact.
HTH,
Ken
Tried that, it doesn't work? :?

I mistyped the file format, actually the only compatible formats are .wav and .wma. Sorry for the mislead
I am looking for a PC software to make MP3 ringtones out of my MP3s. I am looking for a software which is easy to use. Easily cut Mp3s by marking Begin & End by buttons like MP3 Cutter, but I am also looking to increase my ringtone volume from within the software more like PocketDivxEncoder. Which one to use??

I too use Audacity and it's free. Easy to use, I didn't know anything about editing music files and I figured it out...
I have found Mobile Ringtone Converter, its basically modded version of Audacity with the function to increase sound gain. N I am using it for now.

I want to set a custom ringtone. I have some mp3's on my Tilt. I followed these instructions from my phone's manual....
Set an MP3 song as your ringtone
1. Copy the MP3 music file to the My Documents folder on your phone.
2. Tap Start > Settings > Phone.
3. In the Ring type list, select the MP3 song as your ringtone.
I did exactly that and the ringtones are not in my Ring type list. I went to File Explorer to make sure the mp3 was there and it is.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
My Ringtones is the correct folder.

yea, i tried that too. when i did that it said, 'saved as ringtone' but it wasn't in the ringtone list in the phone settings. i have WM 6.1 installed if that helps any. my song is .mp3 format but i heard that .wma, .mp3, .wav. and .midi all work as ringtones. i tried a 30 second song and a 4 minute song and neither worked. does it have to be a certain size?
i figured it out. my mp3 file was 650kb. i cut it down to 378kb and it works. the length is only 16 seconds now which is fine for a ringtone but does 378kb sound right for a 16 second mp3?
Can somebody tell me step by step how to change my new message tone with my own favorite tone is it possible to change it with any mp3 or wav song?

I put them in the windows map, not in a ringtone map.
Just put a small mp3 file in your windows map and then check it.
But i do that only for message tones.
For normal ringtones i made a map in my sd card and called it My ringtones.

WOW!!!Thank you so much for your help it worked
Where are the existing notification sounds in the device memory? For some reason, when I go to Settings --> Sounds & Notifications --> Notifications, the sounds files from Bing Maps show up in the drop down menu. I would like to remove them. I'm using Energy ROM if it matters.

There is a default setting ringtone in my LGO3D. How to change customize that to use my own mp3 as a ringtone? Is it possible to set individual ringtone for each contact?
Thanks.
custom ringtones
I created a directory in mnt / sdcard that I named it audio, then I created ringtones directory in it, I put mp3 files there and then reset the phone, mp3 files appeared in a selection of tones
I manage to make it appear in my ringtone selection by placing the audio files in sdcard/media/ringtones. But now it make the audio not appear in music player. Default music player require it to be placed in sdcard/media/music folder.
Is there a way to make the ringtone files able to be browse and select? Any app recomendation? I tried ringo. But the audio files need to be places specific in the sdcard/media/ringtones.
I go into my music press and hold an mp3 song you want at it says use as ringtone
dno if that helps
this works
look on the market for "ringtone maker" it is free and you browse for a song on your library and then crop it and you can either set it is notification ringtone or default call tone
As for the contact assignment i have not tried this but just had a quick look in my contacts and i cant see an option for it.
Ringdroid
I use and enjoy Ringdroid.
Ok, found that ringo pro can do the trick. I hope there is a free way.
