Remove System tray? - Touch Cruise General

Guys, I wanted to remove my stsrem tray, you know the thing with the 02 icon and battery, I just don't use it and it takes up screen realestate, is there anyway I can remove it? I've looked at registry and shortcut links, nothing works.
The next picture shows what I mean, (ignore the date, this isn't my pic).

Ok done, I have more screenspace and managed to save some memory (from 49% free to 60% free). That useless O2 system tray applet was hogging up all the juice.
Let me know if anyone wants assistance.

To get rid of the HTC stuff you need to edit the registry and rename the Trayapplet to something else (Trayappletx).
Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplet
You are then left with the O2 applet which is usless if you have other task managers installed. To remove this isn't that easy as there is a file called o2c.exe in the /Windows directory on the phone. I wanted to remove the Taskbar at the bottom to make it look empty, so I replaced it with the attached file. It's the dciNoBar.exe renamed to o2c.exe and then placed in the /Windows directory.
That's it. It worked and made my Pocket PC less cluttered.

Hi MrSmith
This has not worked for me as i dont have the tray applet folder!
what do you recon?

Do you have a HTC folder? If so look in there for any culprits. Alternatively, what icons do you have in the system tray? You can try searching for these in the Startup Folder and remove them there or from registry.

Replacing o2c.exe also removes the calendar and contacts at the bottom. To just remove the o2 bar, delete the reg keys above, and remove o2 custom from the \windows\startup folder

Daft question, but how do I get to the registery to remove the task manager O2 thing that annoys me?

You need to install a registry editor.
"PHM regedit" is free and I've found it to be good.

am using CeRegistry Edir (PHM would not work for me).
I really want tto get rid of the O2 task manager and replace it with something better as it just kills the battery and does not shut down application with the X button.
I could really do with help here as I am worried about stuffing he device up.
Cheers

I dont have that trayapplet in my registy.
I'm using wm6 on a hermes (at&t 8525)

For the Comm Manager and Battery indicator there is a reg edit... for that you can search the Tips and Trick thread on the Upgraging subforum...
Also you might find some clues about the others aswell....
Thanks for that, but any chance of a little more info.
After going through 72 pages in that Tweaks and Tricks thread I found only the bits I knew already about the install.
I may have been going a little post blind though after page 40 or so.
Sorry, can't help
I know which reg entries (for the battery and comm manager) you have to modify on the Hermes... but I doubt it'll work on the polaris... maybe some one can provide more info in the tips and tricks thread if you ask...
Sorted it, after a tip from another thread, it's the system tray, from that i found the Reg Key.
If anyone else needs it, it is.....
Code:
Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplet
Then I removed the O2 icon from Startup and sorted.
Decided I don't like the LG tray though in the end lol, but it's nice to have all my desktop to play with.
i too have problems with the system tray bar
when i connect to my PC via usb, or when i launch tomotm, the tray apperas, an messes up my todayscreen configuration, wich i completly do by ultimatelaunch, so the system tray uses some of the space i use fpr ultimate launch
i tried to follow the how tos, to disable it, namely remove the trayap folder in hklm_software_htc but i dont have such a folder there, and i searched fpr a init_tray:ink in my autostart folder, but didnt find anything like that there
anyone knows how to disable this bar?
i use bepes, wm6.1 rom in .67
greetings and thanks in advance, qoka

CAB to install Office Mobile 6.1 onto your storage card (free up some device memory)

I wanted to free up more device memory, but the Office6.1 CABs (I could find) would only install to the device. So I edited the CAB I had, to give you the choice (device or storage card).
It seems to work OK. The shortcuts, on the start menu, weren't pointing to the new location... but I think I have fixed that. Not sure what happens on non-english devices.
The only bugbear I have found is, hitting the new button in Word generates an error. I think it is because the default template is in the wrong place. So if anyone can shed some light on that, I would be grateful. It's not a biggie tho' I just created a document called "blank.doc" and open that instead.
I'm sure someone will come along now and say, "there is already a CAB that does this".... but I did spend two days looking for one!
Here it is,
MSOffice2007onStorageCard.zip
so this will extract the files from my device including the corresponding templates and place on storage card for use?
or is this the full MSoffice2007 install that allows you to save to storage card?
Sorry, my bad.
you will have to uninstall your office 2007 suite and reinstall, using this CAB.
HTH
=====
I think the problem with Word not opening the new file is because I neglected to make the CAB change the registry entries for the office programs in their new locations. I just tried to start a random DOC file from File Explorer and got the same error (but can open it from inside Word). Same problem with Excel and PP too. Harrumph!
Which keys do I need to change?
=====
Changed the file associations for documents and workbooks by hand using Total Commander... it's a kludge for the problem above, works tho'.
Still can't get the 'New' button to do its job in word mind.
How do you un-install the office suite?....doesn't allow me to delete the files individually. And active sync doesn't give me the option to un-install either.
Start\Settings\System\Remove Programs
I am running CRCinAU's WM6.1 ROM, not sure if Office is uninstallable on other ROMs... so YMMV.
Hang on a mo... I am editing registry entries in the CAB. I will upload a new version in a few minutes.

=====EDIT=====
Dammandblast - I screwed up the registry entries... it's late, bed is calling me.
The file above will work, but you need to point the file associations in the new direction.
I will get back to this at a civilised hour.
Found a CAB that does the job properly, on this thread
Here it is,
PDACorner_Office2007.CAB
I have a Mio A701.

WM6.5 Messages panel - what is the name? (Samsung Jack)

I flashed my Jack with WM 6.5 recently and loaded the Titanium panels. But I am not seeing an "all in one" panel for Missed calls, Email, Text, and Voicemail. Instead I have a panel for each one.
I checked out the list of apps/panels in the 3vo ROM's for the Excalibur and nothing seemed to be the panel I'm after.
See middle Screenshot at the bottom of first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523718
Or just below the Wifi panel in this SS.

Anyone know where I can find the stand alone installer? Or help narrow down the search terms? The results I am getting haven't helped find it yet.
I was able to find the info in the Titanium CPR file on the 3VO rom, so I copied that over to the file for my phone. It works!
I just can't find the icons though, I've got red x's on the condensed view and 2 of 4 icons in expanded have red x's. I've looked over the text a lot and I just can't find where they are pulling from.
Looking at the image keys in the registry I see the following:
Value Name: chNotification_cv_email
Value Data: 2003
I'm guessing that is pulling from a DLL, but I am stumped on where to find the name of the DLL so I can view the contents to pick new icons.
Have you tried checking with CHomeConfigurator? I have both the combined panel and the individual ones...
U must install titanium notifications plug

I think you would have to edit the CPR file and comment out the items you don't want to use. If you're editing the CPR file, make a copy for safe keeping in case you mess it up.
Commenting an item out should be easy enough, you'll probably have to adjust the spacing afterwards to get things to appear neatly again.

[How To] Change the right softkey

if you want to change the right softkey all you have to do is:
1: Download my manila file
2: Backup the original 07c67730_manila file in your windows folder
3: Copy my manila file to your windows folder
4: With your favorite registry editor goto: HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila
5: Change: HomeRSKPath / HomeRSKText / HomeRSKArguments to what ever you like
For contacts change HomeRSKPath to: Manila://people\browserlayer\?.page
To remove quick Links without the menu all you do is hold the quick link you dont want for about 3-4 seconds and then drag it away this works on my rom but gessing its the same for all roms

FYI, I used HD2Tweaks to achieve the same result without the hassle of backup up/copying manila files, going into the registry etc.

Nice iv never used hd2tweaks before gess ill have to make mine even better so that it will have some use
*EDIT*
After testing hd2tweaks the right softkey setting never worked for me so i gess this is for people where hd2tweaks dont work
*EDIT*
Don't know if it's the Dutty ROM I have, Co0kie's Home Tab, or the ROM that you use, but the long-hold on quicklinks does nothing for me. Shame, because that sounded like a nice feature.
im also useing duttys rom so i gess its the Co0kie's Home Tab
I'm using an old version of a Dutty ROM - HG v0.8. It could be something that he himself introduced, if you're using a later version than me, but if that's the case then I'm pretty sure installing Co0kie's Home Tab would stop it working.
Im useing dutty HG 2.9
I was trying to make a customizable right softkey menu but run into some problems. I could make any of the menu items run anything that i set in the registry but i could not change the menus text
E.G i could make it so that when you click on somethink like Set Local Time and Date it would open the all people page but i could not change the text from saying Set Local Time and Date to say Contacts or any kind of text
the menu is loaded from Manila://home_menu.dialog if anyone knows how i can make my own .dialog so i can change the menu it would be grate
Thank you Splder!
It is perfect!

[Q] Custom Icons with livetile (not xboxmod)?

Hello there
I´ve got a little question: Since there is no HTC Mozart ROM with cooked in custom icons (I hope there will be one somewhen) and the XBMOD CAB sender gave me an error ("Update Failed") (I had Deepshining 8017 ROM installed) and locked my device again, I thought about modifying my AppIcons with Advanced config, but I think I remember that this actually breaks the live tile function, which is of course a no go for me (hit me if I´m not right )
So the next thing I thought about is replacing the default icons through Windows Phone Device manager or Windows Mobile Device Center.
Is it even possible to do this with these tools?
You trying to replace built-in tiles, or the icons from apps? The latter is easy on a full-unlock ROM like yours. Use a filesystem manager (WPDM or Root Webserver will make it easy to do this from the PC) and go to \Applications\Install\<GUID-OF-THE-APP>\Install\ and find the images you want to replace. Delete them and replace them with your own preferred ones.
If it's for built-in apps, then I do not know a way to solve the problem.
I don´t want to replace entire tiles, but
I´m trying to replace the Icons
from default:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
to something like that:
(for example) without to lose the Live Tile functionality.
So do I understand your answer right (?): I cannot edit the System App´s Icons like SMS, but the ones from other apps like any app from the marketplace or homebrew ones.
All the icons for the built in apps are store in various DLL's in the /Windows folder. As of right now, there's no way to edit these unless you are cooking a ROM or creating a Custom CAB. The CAB probably isn't working because your ROM probably has a newer build # than his CAB does.
