Hey everybody,
I recently have my TC and I wonder how you get emoticons in your sms. I have tried out SmileySMS 1.53, but then my SMS-inbox only freezes when I have an sms with some smileys in it. I can't open it or anything. When it has only one emoticon in it, I can open it, but then the smiley won't show. Just as an : ) (or something, insert any other smiley).
I have found out that the phone DOES have emoticons in it, but only when you press the camera button in a sms you write, then you get a field with symbols, including smileys. If you put one of these smileys in the sms, it won't show as an smiley, only the code.
The MMS does have smiley support for some reason, so why doesn't the SMS recognize them?
What do you do with this problem?
I am looking into the same problem, although I haven't received my TC yet
Found a couple of programs that MAYBE can solve the problem: textr and extreme text.
Have never tested them.
try to use touchpal, think there are smileys...

I think this keyboard gives you smiley on the keyboard, but not in the message. Same as you will you not get the smileys on incoming messages.

SMS with smileys are called EMS.
AFAIK HTC or Nokia don't use this standard. They work with SE or Motorola.

AS as far as I know, there are several Nokia phones that have smileys in their SMS.
Some phones just replace text smileys with image ones (smileys)
Why would you want smileys anyway, they are usually butt-ugly

Nokia use its own standard "Smart Messaging".
I don't know if they are compatible with EMS?
Can you confirm?

I just know that there are Nokia phones that can put smileys in the SMS for outgoing and see the smileys on received messages....
Why I want this, is because in my country many people use a lot of smileys in their SMS'es

Does anyone know of any Windows Mobile 6 Voice SMS programs?
I drive a lot, and typing on a small keyboard while driving is not all that comfortable. So i was wondering if there is any program which would let me speak the words into a SMS message and the words would translate into text.
I don't think most PPC devices really have the muscle for accurate speech to text. It's only recently that it's quality has gotten fairly acceptable for PCs with processors a good 10-15 times faster than most PDA phones have available to them.
I use Jott (www.jott.com) semiregularly and it's a really nice service. If you're based in the USA, you find it useful for your needs.
As avatar said, I don't think PPCs have the processing power (yet).
As avatar said most software in this category is quite unreliable. If you do a google search for this software are try the first few options available you will discover this for yourself

I was looking more of a program which will allow me to speak out a text message and convert my words into text so I can send a text message to a phone number. Jott only sends out emails.

yeah ive been hunting for something like that for a while... still looking. As far as text to speech goes the best available is textspeech pro
I am searching speech to text software for a long time too. I really want to record my job meeting by my phone and it can convert the meeting converasation to a word document or PDF file, then it is easier to make a memo for the meeting. Also, I don't need to busy to drop note in the meeting.
If anyone who know that kind of Program?

Thanks for your reply, but the software you mentioned above is a text-to-speech,
software but not a speech-to-text. They are not the same kind of software.

I'll keep looking!
I know that there are apps for speech to text for the iphone and for Blackberrys. Somebody's gotta be able to do it.
Try Dial2Do
Someone above said that Jott doesn't do texts. I used to send text messages while driving with them all the time. According to their website they still do it. But I quit Jott when they went out of beta, and switched to Dial2do. Same functionality, as far as texting goes, but a free service.
http://www.dial2do.com/
Try Speereo
Well ther's a new app called tellme which uses your voice for text, searching internet and many other features... just a quick search here and it will take you to the thread but its only compatible with WM6.5, and you need to install microsoft voice command before installing tellme...
Im trying to find an app that will group my text messages into an IM style layout. Kind of like the iphone. I bounce back and forth alot between my inbox and sent box when im having a conversation with someone, and I wish there was a way it would just group them in one window. Anyone found anything like this?

You can also try palm threaded SMS
Here is the link for the .cab
This way you don't have to upgrade to WM6.1 if you don't want to.
Is there a way to disable this feature in WM 6.1?
I just don't like it, but don't wonna go back to WM 6!
Pocket CM is another alternative.

have you tryed the sms hotfix from the htc support page? or in advanced network in all settings/connections try setting the sms service to gsm rather than gsm preferred. and also apply the 1.48 rom update also from the htc support site. had the same problem and it was gone afther dooing so.
it seems that is a common problem..i got it too and it's not related to a specific rom or phone carrier because i got the 1.408.401 ITA but i know people with a older ROM with the same issue..
and btw when the sms stop workin' it seems that also windows live (messenger + hotmail) and the weather (only the gps assisted) stop workin'.. at least this happen to me and other people..
same sms problems
my rom was made on 11/09/2009 which meant its version 1.48.707.2
any suggestions of fixing this sms problem? which rom hotfix would best fit?
See the 60+ page thread in the general section ;-) HTC are working on it.
This sounds like what i had. for no apparent reason the phone decided to keep all messages in the outbox (viewable via classic sms display). sending sms messages in different ways somehow unclogged the outbox and all messages were sent.
i did have to bother someone with a test message, unfortunately
sorry i can't be specific. dutch button names wouldn't be much help . the sms tab has a conversation view and a traditional view. switch between those to get the option to see the outbox.
different ways of sending text messages are via the contact display, from the conversation view and just clicking the 'new message' button while in conversation view. somehow these roads to the same function work quite different.

could you tell me where... I saw htc.com but there is just the old one
I have installed Freberrys rom nomess version, which includes htc sense but not htc messaging. It uses the old style off messaging, I dont mind atleast i can send messages without worrying if they have sent. I can confirm with this rom for me the issue has gone.
Check out http://www.htc.com/sea/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=all

hi guys,
there is any app at the moment or the possibility to develop in the future some app to reply to a whatsapp message or to a text message?
there is already an app on the store for sms,but it doesn't work properly.
i know that whatsapp doesn't release the api, so anyone will never develop an app without the api?
thanks. :good:
With the app from Sony itself you can SMS with template you have made before.
Unfortunately there is nothing for Whatsapp yet, would be cool though!
You have SMS Composer for SmartWatch that work pretty well, you can compose with a T9 keyboard. It's not very fast, but it's ok for short response.
