AT&T Tilt typo in topic
I've tried out a few mods so far, and my favorite seems to be DCS v1.5. I've tried a few flavors of alex's and i didnt care for it as much. I find DCS to be the one of choice. Please post what your favorite is, and please include why you its your favorite, and if you think its the best mod, why. This can not only help me if i'm missing out on some good mods, but other people who are searching for the best mod for their tilt.

Sleuth's current 6.1 rom is great. Very stable and cooperative.

I'm using Sleuth's rom.

works like a jem

Out of all the 6.1 roms out in the Kaiser forum: Sleuths 6.1 is the smoothest! The others have too many bugs.

I have had Alex's Beta 2 for a few days, so far so good.

I am using the stock HTC ROM for few days now, and it works pretty good especially the BT.

My favorite flavor is called REPEAT...

XDA Live 3.0a. Very fast, Very Stable, No bloatware

I got my Tilt about a week ago and I put dutty's Cube ROM within 24 hours. I like the ROM so far because I figured out a bunch of stuff about the Kaiser and WM6.1 with it. Now that I know what I want to do a bit more, I'm going to try out Sleuth's and Q-Mobile.
BTW, I can't stand the Cube. It looks very, very cool, but the usability isn't there IMO.

AT&T Tilt Gets Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM Upgrade
Here i found it
Get it here on Mobiletopsoft - http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/board/3...m-upgrade.html
or on HTC site - http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa..._id=67&cat=all

Waiting ever so patiently for XDA Live 3.0 final - hopefully based on the AT&T Tilt ship ROM when it finally hits. Until then, I'm currently putting L26 V11 through the paces, although I really like the bare-bones feel of the XDA ROMS more.

False alarm...That is not WM6.1!! The file is still the WM6 update they released months ago. The official AT&T WM6.1 ROM has yet to be released.
There's a whole thread about this here at XDA - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417674, and a looming meltdown over on the AT&T board - http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=95653

There is already a thread on this...on the front page even. Why revive this old thread?

TyTN II ROM - Best One?

Sorry for simple question, newbie here. Is there a concensus on the best ROM to update the TyTN II (US Version). I am having trouble deciphering all the threads. Is the HTC "factory" ROM best option? Thanks for any advice offered.

It all depends on what you are looking for. There are tons of ROMs for that device. Dutty's Touchflo is really good if you want that type of interface. The problem with the original ROM is it isn't optimized very well, could be faster and there are others out there that are. You should be lucky you dont have the Tilt, that ROM from AT&T is the slowest I have had on the device. I am looking at one that is fast and comes with as little as possible, but still allows for lots to be added, for instance I like Dutty's Touchflo but I would like to have a clean one with nothing but the basics then add the stuff myself that I want. (touchflo so far doesn't have a cab installer).
I found about 5 more ROMs that I wanna try out before I decide on just settling for one (for now).
Tilt
The TyTN II is the Tilt, isn't it? I have the Tilt.
The TyTN II and the Tilt/8925 are variants of the HTC Kaiser. Different models, but very similar.
TYTN II have the front camera, tilt doesn't.
That's the only noticeable difference (aside from different coloured keyboard).
Another difference is the way the radio is implemented into the Tilt on the latest ROM. The Tilt Radio does not work with the TyTN II ROM, but the Tilt ROM works with the TyTN II Radio. Not to confuse you or anything.

Don't worry about the Tilt/TyTN II differences. Just read through the discussion thread for each ROM releases and decide which one fits you better. I went through HelmiC's BigStorage, Kyphur's XDA-Live 1.0, and now I have finally settled with Dutty's Hybrid No.4 Lite version. I ditched Helmi's because it was outdated. XDA-Live was very problematic for me but ran awesome. No.4 Lite has been great so far with no problems. *knock on wood* So, it's pretty much a trail-and-error kind of deal. Try and decide on which one to keep.
another newbie with the same question. Flashing is a pain when you first start, but you gotta get use to it. Some of us flash our phones twice a week. Play around with your stock phone and figure what apps you like. Then find a rom that seems close to it. Then flash it. Otherwise, if you are afraid to flash, stick with the stock.
After flashing half a dozen roms I have settled on the latest ATT Tilt rom without the customizations and the device is overall more stable and usable than ever, plus no need to CID unlock...bonus.

CID Unlock and Sim Unlock are 2 different things
Back on topic:
If you're after the Touch interface, go with Dutty's Touch Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344351
If you want something that's not too far removed from the stock HTC, but with some bugs fixed and other improvements, go with Sleuth:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343867
I'm currently running Dutty's Hybrid Test Final RTM, from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341879
It's the best mix of speed, apps, and stability I've found.
If you want a starting point, try that. But be warned: rom flashing is an addictive pursuit. Once you start, there'll always be that nagging feeling that the next rom is better, or that someone else's rom has features you need.
Good luck!
You should really refer to the Wiki first before you do any flashing.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
I would highly recommend doing a CID unlock & Flash and ROM on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
If you have a TyTN II I would suggest using Dutty's ToucFlo Final ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344351
If you have a At&t Tilt I would suggest using Dutty's TouchFlo Tilt Beta ROM.

Hope this helps.
English verison Rom HTC tilt HTC TyTn 11
Hello, I'm working in Russia, i bught the above here in msocw, but the rm is Russian version, Where can i ger an English (european) rom version?
I would really be greatful for some assistance..
Thank you
Just remember, when CID unlocking your device to flash cooked roms, there will be more of a process reverting to an ATT rom, if the need arises i.e. return, or warranty issues.
By starting off with an official ATT rom, there is no need to use HardSPL and like I previously mentioned, restarting before ATT custoimizations initiate leaves you with a speedy, reliable, full featured rom that is a lot better than the fully bloated, initial ATT release (radio is worlds better in the new one)
Then, you can always CID unlock and flash again later to a cooked rom if you wish. This could be considered a baby step to customizing and is a safe way to go.
My biggest gripe with a lot of the cooked roms, especially ones based on the HTC factory build is that they are not oiptimized for the tilt and have superflous features that I don't need/want.
Just my 2 pennies.
Maybe we need a upgrade guide like MrVanx made for the hermes.

How does the cube work on Gullum's ROM...I have no complaints with Dutty's TouchFLO Tilt BETA
I do not think Gullum includes the cube. Maybe someone that actually runs it can chime in.

Rom Reviews Anyone?

I have searched already and haven't found reviews of the new cooked and stock roms out there that we all use and love. If your flash happy like myself you would love to here unbiased reviews of the roms and I don't mean whats in the exisiting threads for each rom that have complaints, rants, and flaming. If anyone else would like to jump on this please let me know or just start reviewing the roms yourselves and the mods will hopefully start a sticky for reviews. Thanks and to all the great chefs keep up the good work.
dutty's roms are quite nice. They've got the basics. You'll probably need to install a few things for personal needs, but not too much.
For example, I always install HTC's Task manager. But he took it out since some people liked the WKTask (eww).
I've tried a few random others, and some pack in too many apps
**Edit for links** http://duttythroy.lives-in.eu/
->Current thread for V4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361544
I'd like to be able to stick with a ROM for long enough to be able to do a full review
Agreed, Duttys v4 felt nice but I changed to Q-Mobile because I was having problems with bluetooth on the v4 rom.... After playing around with the Q-Mobile rom I don't actually think that the BT problem was caused by duttys rom.
Q-Mobile is nice and clean but I've had problems installing some stuff, again might not be anything to do with the ROM and it may well be the user and or the cabs at fault
What I'd really like is to try out a WM6.1 rom to see if the new network drivers sort out my wifi problem but Im really unsure as to which is the best, hopefully some people will post their thoughts on 6.1 roms in here.

That sounds fast
Roms depends on user needs Some people like fancy stuff. Like duttys one and some others with dual touch, cube etc.... And some people are professional they want fast, effective. I am in love with sleuth rom. I didnt have to install separate radio, separate java bla blah. Everything working out of the box working fine. Some people have issues like skype and core player. But they are problem with all 6.1 version.
I would of LOVED sleuth's wm 6.1 v3.0 if the audiomanager worked There were a few other small things, such as how to disable threaded sms, without killing the notifications (I didn't really like the threaded smsing, but I got enough smses that if I didn't get a notification it would mean lots of missed smses)
I spent the last 10 hours or so flashing different roms onto my phone, I've went back to Q-mobile 1.2 =/
If you don't mind the threaded sms and don't use audiomanager (I installed mortplayer to compensate) I'd suggest Sleuth's 3.0 6.1 rom.
I've tried just about every rom here and I keep going back to Q-Mobile 1.2.
I love dutty's customizations, but I have to agree that Quentin's are the most polished. I have tried almost all of them and have settled on Quentin's Q-Mobile 1.2 for now (with a lot of my own customizations of course).
Just wait a little bit
All I have to tell you guys is wait and see
Current is Sleuth 3.0 WM6.1
I am using an ATT Tilt version in the US, I have tried many of the current roms (to me some were more well done than I like, Some were not stable or under done) I like 3 roms
WM 6.1 - I like Austinsync's rom and Sleuth 3.0
WM 6.0 - I like Q-Mobile 1.2 (Sorry have not tried any others but the Sleuth version is probably good there too)
Cheers
BR
For now, I'm staying away from the 6.1 roms (I have a feeling that "for now" will change to "right now" once dutty's new one is released) but I've been using dutty's V4 since the day it was released and I love it. It's very fast and has everything you need.

Haze,
I would say give Dutty a couple of days, or a week at the most, and he will release his newest flavor. The beta testers have worked really hard to get a perfect ROM to the community. You will be pleasantly surprised at the result. One thing you should know. Dutty has been building a WM6.1 ROM without a phone much like Schap's does which is quite amazing.
why do they both do it without phones? Did their phones break or are they using other ones? Anyways I like Q-Mobile 1.2 but I received a lot of error messages I didn't get on other roms. Sleuths is good also but a little too clean for my liking. Downloading Dutty v4 now hopefully this is a winner until his 6.1

I have 2 devices, 1 with dutty's WM6.1 and the other is Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1. Both are great in their respected fields. I think dutty's is the most organized of the two. Speed wise Sleuth is ahead but thats also due to a larger page file.

Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1 rocks!
Tried Alex 6.1 but have no luck with no-sound problem.
Switched to Sleuth 3.0 and I stay so far.
Waiting for new version of dutty. I hope secret testing policy will help here (?)
I think it would be awesome if Dutty made a clean version of 6.1 along with his regular version. I hate having all kinds of extra programs that I'm never use.

Sleuth's 6.1 is at 32MB and it's very fast and responsive. No issues with battery life. I'm on the 2nd full decharge right now. 1st run died at about 452 with bluetooth on in a E area. Dutty's default is 24 if i'm not mistaken. dutty's has the best battery life so far. I'll make a better report when i wake up, 2am here and I need to be in the office at 8. Night all

which 6.1 Rom is of lesser "Evil"!..? Post stability feedback [Feb 17, 08]

Hey all..
There is a similar thread started sometimes back asking for feedback on which 6.1 rom one is using and why! That post seems to have died prematurely. Now with Dutty's much awaited 6.1 rom is out I think this thread can benefit a lot.
As the title.. after reading the threads of the various 6.1 roms.. Dutty's, DKs, Alex's, Sleuths... etc. they are all having one or more bugs/issues... Please share YOUR views with which ROM is running most stable for you and what are the bugs/glitches you're still experiencing.
Recommended format: Phone version/carrier, ROM cook/version, Radio version... and which one tried and had more bugs than the one you have now. (usual format everyone uses anyways)
[Update: Feb 17, 08 (30 minutes into the post)]: PLEASE refrain from stating issues that are most commonly being experienced and discussed, the obvious ones like lack of sound/volume etc. which is most likely from having wrong/incompatible radio... now if the volume/sound issue persists even after you've flashed the right radio as per the cook.. then it should be shared here.
I've personally installed DCS V1.5 WM6.1 and reported numerous bugs, which seemed to be isolated to my Tilt only as Johan shared but ever since I'm very confused as to which one to get. Ofcourse, I can download one each day and see for myself which will work best, but unfortunately, I use this phone good 10 working hours a day, 6 days a week on the "field", using its various functions for productivity and only get time on Sundays and nights to play with it... therefore, I felt this thread will be a better approach and is sure to benefit a lot.. I hope.
At&t Tilt -
Dutty's DualTouch V4 currently.
Radio: 1.27.12.11
DCS v1.5 WM6.1 - very buggy (lag/top-bar vanishing in dialpad/freeze issues) - un-flashed.

Apparently, you didn't read the entire thread or even the first three posts. If you had used the search or read the dutty thread, you would know that you need a 6.1 radio to use Dutty's or Sleuth's 6.1 roms. The problem with no sound has also been asked at least 20 times in the dutty thread as well.

I agree with eagle1.. I should've specified that lack of sound/volume related bugs should be first thoroughly searched and then shared as most likely they are due to incompatible radio..
Also, please try and post ONLY when you've tried troubleshooting the problem through either posting about it in the cook's original thread or have searched for it somewhere else and it still didn't get fixed.
I'm hoping that all of us only share WHATS STILL WRONG.. and not HOW TO FIX IT.. as this is meant to be more of a GUIDE!...
Go with Vega's ROM R1 build simple amazing. Fast stable and anything and more. IT is aka udk I think is the name he goes by on here.
I found the best to be Duttys ROM so far. I tried DCS 1.4 and it was pretty good.
I have to say I have liked all Duttys roms the best up until 6.1
I have tried all the 6.1 except duttys. I am using Sleuth.
FAST, STABLE and LOVIN IT. I have not tried Duttys yet cause I do not want to part with sleuths.
I will try when I have a bit of extra time. For now I am staying with Sleuth once you get past not having the htc home it is amazing.
I would recommend giving it a try.
I tried Dutty lastest 6.1 with radio 1.64.04 on HTC unbranded TyTN II ... few bugs with HTC Home plugin and notifications but terrible slowness and lags ... flashed back to original rom
sleuth 3.0 -
digression -
tried the official 1.62 and
Alex.v51.WM60.ATT.162.Home.ROM;
doesn't seem to be stable and missing quite a number of essentials.
I'm on Sleuth's v3.0 and it's fantastic. Fast, Smooth, and no problems what-so-ever. I'm VERY tempted to flash to Dutty''s 6.1, but i'm not confident enough yet.
Can anybody who's used both Sleuth's v3.0 wm6.1 AND Dutty's 6.1 please comment? It'd be much appreciated.
Cheers
I'm also using Sleuth, but I still have issues with GPS. Do you guys also have problems? But the ROM overall is VERY stable, love it!
Started off with DCS and ended up with Sleuth. So far it has been good. No problems with GPS. Make sure you're using 08.21 Radio, at least it gives good reception and also GPS works well with it.
Well I've tried Schap's 4.4o beta, UDK and now Dutty's. Schap's was the fastest but none of the available radios worked with my device. Dutty's 6.1 is going fine so far. There are a few things I'd like to change, The best and the fastest ROM has been SNE 2.5 for me. It's not WM 6.1 based though.
Sleuth is my pick from everyone elses that is out now. I've tried all of em and Sleuth is deffinately the fastest. I love it even though it is a little scarce on applications. But you can always download programs you need anyway.
+1 Sleuth 3.0

I have tried both Dutty's and Sleuth's. I found them both relatively equal in performance and stability. For me it came down to the apps I use (and don't use).
Dutty's is better is if you like it with lots of apps and utilities.
Sleuths' is better for me because I like to load my own stuff (mostly NOT the HTC stuff).

Thanks kwickone, I decided to go ahead and flash Dutty's, and as you said, it's equally impressive. The speed seems almost identical, but Dutty's really looks the part.
Nice UI, quick speeds, and I was impressed with the apps list too, as I use pretty much all of them. He definately chose well in what apps were included.
Time to change my signature
I have had the least amount of problems with Alex's 6.1 Beta 2 after changing the pagepool to 24 mb.
I haven't tried Sleuth's, only dutty's and L26.
Mods.. should this thread be made sticky?
..I recommend making this thread a sticky or better still as a link under maybe a thread to-be-started like "WM6.1 flashing 101"
Sleuth rocks
tried LC, tried DC, and dutty's in the past - but not the recent one. as an orange UK user sleuth v3 is the best for me.
nice work.
This thread needs a poll option added.
I'm on Slueths too, GPS, HTC HOME, all that stuff is working perfectly. Not as fleshed out as other roms. i.e. L26 includes the Action menu and a bunch of utilities such as quickmenu and various tweaking utilities that are not present in Slueths. But L26 also has a bunch of unnecessary files in the windows folder. In my test using standard explorer browsing the windows folder on L26 took 9 seconds, on Slueths it's less than 4.
They all bring something unique, so it's up the user but it's also been through enough tutorials that most people could make their own.

Another good one is sleuths 1.2 rom. very fast and efficient on battery compared to his v3.0

Check the Mobile Vista ROM by Confused Stu, I find it very good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371014
I have used Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 UC RTM full for a few weeks, and find it great, no issues, everything working out of the bag. Its missing voice dial which took a while to sort. Have also tried his 19716, but had a few issues like no mms.
Also i have used 3.02.405.0 (Radio 1.58.26.20) original WWE - it was fast but i had mms issues and did not bother trying to solve.
Next weekend i will flash NoThrills WM 6.1 WWE *English* V3 - The first ROM with the brand new OS build 19202! as it sounds good as well.
So far after every trial i end up going back to Dutty 19199 as it does everything i need and is very stable.
On Orange UK, slowly working through all the radios.
I'm on orange and am using qmobile 1.2.
Fast and stable. Not a whiff of any problems.

On T-mobile, flashed the No Thrills WWE version. Working great, with no issues for me.

i'm also using Stu's Mobile Vista which i've not had any problems with.
See my sig (It keeps changing)
Also a serial flasher, but been on Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 for a few weeks. Tried pretty much all of them and in general usage they are all stable. I found Q-Mobile 1.2 to be very good and like Schaps too - but staying with Dutty's (although might upgrade to the 23rd March release......)
Sleuth's V3.0 6.1 ROM - no issues at all, very happy with it.
I'm also usint Stu's Vista 1.1 Very stable and loads of packaged apps and games.
At time of writing Im using "Dutty's WM6.1 Official UC 5.2.19199 RTM" Rom along with WM6.1 Radio ver. 1.64.08.21. Radio seems to perform great and in the last 2 weeks of runnig the radio i've had one lost signal, however I've put that down to the Orange network being rubbish.
and that was 2 minutes before the Scotland v England rugby game kicked off inside Murryfield Stadium??
I have just got a Vario III this week, upgrade from my Vario II and was thinking about looking at ROM and Radio upgrades; do any of these ROMs work with t-mobile's Sky by Mobile? Everytime I've tried a non-T-Mobile ROM I've lost the ability to access my Sky by Mobile account. It's beena while since I've tried to fix the problem, does anyone know if the settings have been worked out yet?
Cheers.
well what a choice!
I have just put confusedstu's vista 1.2 on and it seems pretty good but skype wont work. ( i only nee it for checking voicemails not for calling)
guess I should try DCS

Which ROM could someone please advise?

Hi
Could someone please recommend a ROM for my orange uk kaiser? I'm currently running 1.2 sleuth but has become unstable of late, probably my fault, i know
As i understand it i need a ROM which doesn't affect the radio which is why I chose sleuth originally.
Thanks in advance.
Can't you just chose any ROM of your liking and then flash back to whatever Radio ROM you want to use? As long as the desired Radio is compatible with the chosen ROM of course...

It is in your best interest to decide which ROM you and only you like the best.
As of late, most of the chefs here are attaching radios to their ROM but please do make sure if you change radios they are compatible.
Lately, the most popular are:
Death V2
Leo's
Duttys.
Hope that helps and flash away!
thanks for the info, i have 1.27.14.32 radio but none of the ROMS seem to include this or state their compatability.
heh someone still using wm6.0
upgrade to 6.1 is recommended..
Ones i find useful are Dutty's Hyprid 2 from apr29
His latest is still a test and i had a bit of problems with it
For something fast i would recommend S4V.19701.01 Full
It's super-fast and i might switch back to it when i have time to flash again and when i can be bothered reinstalling everything hehe,
I am using Dutty's April 29 ROM with cube. Have also flashed the 1.65.20.29 radio and have absolutely no problems so far.
Highly recommended... Stable and fast.
I flashed 2 or 3 other ROMs after this but always reverted back within 24 hours.
Sorry for the duplicate post...
hey ive used them all pretty much! Enjoyed Dutty's for a while. But the sheer speed of every aspect of Death V2 has made me stick with that.. Props to the chef!
I like Dutty's April 29 ROM
I like Dutty's April 29 ROM. I am using MioMap and Skype and both works with that rom. Its also very fast I am a business user and check email from exchange and other stuff and this ROM has performed exceptionally well. I upgraded from a 4 month old ROM so I was very surprised.
Give that a try its seems stable to me and has a lot of the bugs fixed. Don't go for the Dutty's test rom I flashed it and went to Dutty's April 29 ROM almost immediately.
I had issues with keyboard, the performance was slow and Miomap and SKype didn't work.
Just my 2 cents.
i recommend dutty's 16 april.
The fastes i ever used. But the 29 april is almost the same.
16 April has quicker acces to menu while 29 April quicker acces has to windows map.
Death V2
Can someone point me to the thread for this ROM please?
Cheers

Generally spoon feeding is shunned upon, but i'll chip in. For the past several months I've been using Q-Mobile. Never had a lag problem, never had a freezing problem, never had instability problems, never had ANY problems. Its fast, stable, and stable...and did i mentioned stable? I've flashed almost every rom that exists and this has been the most bug-free, lag-free, problem-free, rom I have ever put my hands on. I always go back to it because it runs so smooth.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

Thanks for the information. I shall try this ROM.
DUTTYS
I use duttys hybrid v2. Its the fastest rom i flashed by far go try if you like
DCS 1.7 Ultimate Video
One worth trying and compatile with older radios. Stable, snappy and was one of my favorites. Would flash back to it but have Dutty's WM6.1 5.2.19209 running pretty well and haven't mastered UC yet (I think Sashimi might get push me over the edge)

Wish Johan would come back . . . where are you Johan?!?!
easily hands down, leos diamond v3 rom. Fastest rom in kaiser history!
Win 6.1 HTC update is a complete disaster!!!
OK. I downloaded and flushed today this new Win 6.1 HTC update:
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40. 02_1.65.16.25
(I had previously an original HTC ROM)
But, unfortunately, it seams to be a complete disaster. Many programs are simply not working. iGO, for example, even doesn't start. The local language support doesn't work. The phone becomes slower then before, with an original HTC ROM.
After a couple of hours of fighting, I was forced to do something that I was afraid doing since I've bought this phone – flash a non standard XDA ROM.
After Hard-SPL, the first ROM that I tried was a Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700. And it worked OK, but just to try something else for comparison, I than flashed a L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 3 !!! (Core 19588)
And immidiatly got almost the same problems like with the new Win 6.1 HTC update ROM.
It seams to be that a L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 3 and new Win 6.1 HTC update ROM used the same ROM core. Please correct me if I am wrong.
So, after that I am back with the Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2, but I've just flushed the same radio version like one that I had with the HTC update: ver. 1.65.16.25
Now, everything works just perfect.
