Hi all,
I had set my XDA orbit -2 a simple numeric password every time i enter .the last password was set a month ago before i left to vacation ( out of country). when i came back and wanted to use the phone, it did ask for password as usual. but when i tried to enter the password which i had reset before and it doesnt allow me, saying incorrect password ( i forgot my password in short).
I tried several times , after few times, a message is displayed that i had entered incorrect password for too many times and there is a time lag which doubles up every time i enter an incorrect password. currently it had set to 4 hrs 38 minutes .
i.e i can enter the password once in 4 hrs 38 minutes and if i enter it wrong then it doubles up to 9hrs 26 minutes and so on ....
also the time clock stops automatically if the screen becomes black.
I did try to reset by pressing the button but it comes back to the screen with the time ticking backwards
PLEASE HELP ME TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM
Thanks for going through my long post

Entering password on XDA Orbit 2

Because i am using Direct Push to get my emails on our secure exchange server Windows forces me to enter a password when turning on my Orbit 2. Trouble is the brightness of the backlight is reduced almost immediately i turn my phone on and it makes it very difficult (in fact almost impossible) to see the screen to enter my password especially in daylight. Can anyone help?
Hi Bortis, I'm new to the forum so spent ages trying to find a solution to a similar problem.
I dont set the pasword lock all of the time but had the same problem with the keylock. i.e. when locked the backlight went off.
I needed to use a registry editor (PHM Regedit in my case)
I then edited registry keys as shown on the top of page 2 on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384865
I know the usual answer is 'do a search' but having spent ~ 6 hours doing that I HTH.
cheers
tom
I had the same problem with my Orbit II. I followed some simple advice from NoFatePPC and have had no problems since even after doing a reset
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
go here in your registry:
\HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel
you should see a bunch of keys and a folder called "LockLevel" - inside that folder is the LockLevel key with a value of 1 or 0 - you don't need to go inside that folder. just rename it from "LockLevel" to "LockLevelx" (add an x to the end of the folder's name)...
that's it.

Thanks guys. That works. I'm happy.
Cannot unlock password on Orbit 2
Hello,
I have an HTC Orbit 2 (POLA 200). It's locked in O2, but that not the problem. The problem I'm having is that it suddenly started to show me the password unlock screen. I've tried to hard reset it and access the boot loader, but it is NOT working When I try to hard reset it (camera button + reset button, then release the reset button and keep the camera button pushed) it just restarts normally. It shows that "O2 Welcome" splash screen, then the screen with Windows Mobile 6.1 and then it gives the password screen. On the top, it appears that I have signal through HDSPA and the muted sound icon. Also, it says that I can make only emergency calls. I don't know what to do, because I haven't set any password. I've tried a few standard ones like: 1234, 0000 - but nothing. However, if I put in "999" without the quotes, the screen light gets stronger and it says that I must press DIAL to talk, but that's the emergency thing . I have to let you know that I cannot sync the phone through active sync or anything like that.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

what happens when u let countdown finish? U are norally allows 8 tries.... or have you tried so many times this is now coming up.
My lock screen brings up the chance to reset password, but my device is connected to works server, so yours might not give u this option.

Not able to login to my HTC HD2

Hi There,
Im not able to login to my phone .. I have set it up to lock if not use for 2 minutes but now when its locked it says in the screen to tap or slide.. i slide and then enter my 4 digits number and press the unlock button nothing happen , earlier if i enter a wrong password it used to popup a message for wrong entered password .. is there a way to get into my phone ...
You will most likely have to hard reset. I had the same problem with my TD2. The issue is discussed here somewhere, but they had no luck solving it.
It doesn't say if you had it wrong because you have entered the wrong password too many times. At least that is my theory.

Locked Phone / forgotten PIN

Hi there,
Recently went back to a S7 from a HTC M9 and wow what a difference and love this phone now. When setting up phone from new I set up a PIN and fingerprint screen lock. All was going well until I recently restarted it as had it turned off, now after a restart you have to re enter your PIN for fingerprint sensor to open it but unfortunately I was unable to remember my PIN ( silly bugger next time write PIN number down ). Eventually I opened it using Samsung Find My Mobile by using Lock My Mobile and using a new PIN phew what a relief as I didnt want to do a factory reset and then have to reload everything. Now I want to change my PIN to a new number ( already written down ) and when I go into Screen lock type in settings and it asks me under Confirm PIN to enter my PIN, I enter the PIN I used in Lock My Mobile to open phone it doesnt accept it and locked me out again for 5 minutes but after that time fingerprint sensor opened phone normally. Question is how do I reset a new number because if I have to restart /reboot phone for any reason I will be locked out again.
If you aren't rooted, Factory Reset is pretty much your only way. If you are rooted, there's some files you can delete but I don't remember them.
Think about it - if your phone was lost or stolen, would you want someone to be able to disable the screen lock to get at your information?

Question samsung galaxy A53 turns off before i can enter my password

As the title says, my phone will not stay on long enuf for me to enter my password. It's fully charged, but it only stays on long enuf for me enter maybe two characters, and turns off. Any help will be very much appreciated.
Actually, I would like to do away with having to enter a password at all. I bought this phone maybe three months ago, played around with it for a while, and then set it aside and continued to use my old phone. Can't really remember what all I did with it, and don't recall having entered a password, but apparently I did. Can I maybe do a reset to factory defaults and then start from scratch? Would that get rid of the password, and how would I do that?
Well, I managed to enter my password. Discovered that as long as I continue to press the power-on button, the phone will not shut down, giving me the time I need to enter my password. Being 74 years old with fingers that aren't as spry as they used to was, it's a somewhat laborious and time-consuming process, but I got it done.
