My Polaris regularly loses the connection to my cellular operator (Vodafone in the Netherlands).
It happens more than once a day and even in areas with good reception.
The display then shows "No Service" where normally the operator name is shown and the icon for signal strength shows an antenna with a cross.
This in itself wouldn't be such a problem, if the phone tries to find the operator after the connection is lost. But it doesn't. Once it is lost, it stays lost.
I have to disable the phone in the communication manager and enable it againt to force the Polaris to search for the operator network.
My previous phone (a Nokia) didn't experience this problem and was used with the same SIM.
Does anyone else experience this problem?
And more important: is there some kind of setting (registry key?) to force my phone to search for my operator?
I too have the same problem. This happens for EDGE connection also on my mobile. When ever i connect and disconnected the device to my laptop, the connection to my EDGE connection is disconnected. Even if i open a new internet address, it will say cannot connect to server. I need to soft reset the device to connect to internet. I am having T-mobile USA connection. Please help. It disturbs a lot.

Hi all, I am new here and to smart phones, did the "cc" tweak for the volume, worked great, I now have a wifi issue, i have signal, the phone see's the signal, but when i launch IE it say's "your internet comm is not config properly. Please verify your settings in data connection" I have looked at things and cannot find anything that loks wrong. I find connections but not data connections. If anyone can help.. I am deployed in Iraq and have very little access to any kind of help...Thanks-- ps..feel free to use email
It may be that internet explorer is set up to only use WAP and therefore not able to get a connection. In your IE options, make sure it says Internet or Work depending on how you set your wifi up.
Stay safe.
I'm new to the Windows Mobile platform using GSM and I'm trying to understand the operation of GPRS connection. I have a PPC, HTC TyTn, and I use it to connect to the internet. Most of the time I get a good signal with the antenna and four or five bars next to it. I also get the E or G icon for the GPRS connection. Sometimes when I move into an area I get the antenna symbol with an "!" next to it and the "G" symbol. From my understanding the "!" means no service but I can still connect to the internet. My questions is, due you need phone voice service to get a GPRS connection.
Thanks
E
yes voice is the lowest common denominator
both gprs, edge, 3g, h use the same signals
and voice is the base
Thanks for your reply but I'm still confused. I understand gprs and voice use the same signal but my phone indicates "no service". I can't dial out or receive calls but I can connect to the gprs network and get on the internet. My understanding is "no service" means voice service or the phone could not register on the network. If this is true how can I get gprs service or connectivity .
2 reasons as i see it
1. i'm wrong
2 you are roaming on a network which for some reason only roam data
I use LUMIA 710 with network operator AIRTEL.
I keep the data connection ON 24/7. I use it now and then. Data transfers smoothly and signal strength is also superb. But sometimes when i open apps which need data connection they say connection not available even though the connection is ON and signals are abundant. I don't know why this happens but this is happening often these days. I tried restarting, switching the DATA connection ON-OFF but no result. Help me out!
I recently changed from O2 to Three and the new sim is working fine with no issues. Annoyingly in settings, connections it still shows O2 as network provider even though I’m connected to the Three network. I’ve tried re-connecting to the network both manually and automatically and still it shows O2 as network provider. I also tried resetting network settings and no difference. This has no bearing on use and I'm definitely connected to Three, I just find it irritating seeing O2 incorrectly showing. Is this a bug or is there any way to fix this?
I have a network issue with my OnePlus 8T. Whenever I enter an area that doesn't have great signal, if my phone connects to 4G, I completely lose all signal and the phone will read "No Service" or "Emergency Calls Only". The best thing I can do is toggle Airplane mode or restart the phone to fix it. The issue does not occur if I set my phone to 2G/3G only. My phone will have signal absolutely everywhere, there isn't a spot that I know of that doesn't get reception. However, the moment I tap "Mobile Data", if the phone connects to 4G and the signal isn't 50% or better. My phone just loses all network on the spot and refuses to return unless I do the two things I listed above. I've been in contact with my service provider, tried swapping SIM slots and cards, reset my network, verified APN is properly setup. Just about everything by now. Does anybody know of a possible solution to this?
